I… am confused. Never played it. I used to play WH40K in the early 90s
WH? Mine? What is a WH?
Huh~ What is wrong with engineer flamer? I do just fine with it. I went into the PvP training area and at least with the build I have (fireforged trigger/juggernaut) it nearly matches my damage output for bombs and grenades (even with grenadier).
Plus with Bunker Down, it means all my BD mines spawn asap. 49% crit chance, and my Flamer is my main weapon. Works fine for me.
The change is a massive improvement.
I’m still not buying any more character slots though.
But you get an entire exp level in 16 mins. Its easy. You can do the racial cities AND this, and be lvl 7 before you set foot outside the city.
Heehee, I did mention in my guide not to mess with them
I didn’t see ANY of these pop and I was there for over an hour today!
Just to add, only one event here can be completed non-combat. Rounding up the cattle is one. Just don’t go into the skritt caves or fight the Seperatists, they kill you in one hit.

Here is a list of dynamic events from the last Bazaar Of The Four Winds:
Events
Defeat the chaos creature (80)
Defeat the corrupted ogre (80)
Defeat the ice elemental (80)
Defeat the morphing ooze (80)
Defeat the rampaging fire imp (80)
Deliver supplies to Zephyr Sanctum for Trader Owens (80)
Protect the merchants and their supplies from krait slavers (80)
Stop the pirates from stealing kite shipments from Zephyr Sanctum (80)
Subdue bar fight instigators to stop the brawl (80)
Not only are they gone, but we are now downscaled to level 16. What gives? The Bazaar now just feels empty and dead
The new male Asura faces sure are feminine.
Doesn’t one of the male Norn faces look like Big Nosed Ted from the human Personal Story?
The only one I like is the last of the human ones, but that’s only because I have a thing for freckles <3
How exactly do you respond to the proper forum section regarding megaserver? I see the link the dev gave, but it seems there is no response option
Devs of real power haven’t as much as sneezed in our general direction for over a month.
It gets worse. Speedy Kits is valuable for Engineers, a profession that relies on manouvrability. It is in the same place, Line 5 Skill 6.
Absolute trash. Why am I being gated from every trait?
Because, thanks to Anet, ‘Once you reach the appropriate level, we want you to be able to dive right into the system and start playing around with it’. Locking some away behind level 80 zones, and dungeons where parties insist you are “lvl 80 zerk war or gtfo” allows you to access new traits more easily!
Also, ‘As part of this approach to making traits more approachable, we’ve pushed back the level at which the different trait tiers unlock for new characters’. Apparently traits are more approachable, when you have to wait longer for them!
But remember, ‘Acquiring traits will be a horizontal progression system’. Completing a level 80 zone to acquire a trait you have access to at level 30 sure is horizontal! Just curl the top and tail of the 3 around to the centre and it becomes an 8! See – horizontal!

Just logged into DR, and out, and back in. No RP to be found, despite being on TC.
Night ruined from an RP perspective. Mission accomplished, Anet!
I saw your post and it was really not bashing so why would they delete it?
yes, I spend more time on FB than in game these days
General negativity, I guess. Mind you I don’t know if the people who run the FB page are even devs, so that could be it.
I feel instantly popular with all the Likes for it, mind you
I love this game, that is why I criticise.
I love how it looks, how the combat plays out, the community is (despite some of my grumps) still positive on the whole.
There are parts which I can, and do, pick holes in but generally I would rather idle in this game than play almost any other.
The last facebook post about the megaserver has been quickly filled with heavy bashing of it. And then some swift moderation occurred. ;>
My post is still at the top, so the moderators aren’t overzealous at least.

Not a good idea. Guess where all the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ugly_Wool_Sock go to!
If you want Windborne Dagger (line 5 trait 6) to escape mobs more easily, good luck – you have to complete an lvl 80 zone.
Even if ‘mounts’ (maybe as simple as the broomstick) offered a slightly quicker way to move, maybe 25%, it would free up a sigil and/or trait. It would not be OP as you could not attack from the ‘mount’, and any attack would both knock you off it, and then you would have to equip weapons to fight.
If these were made and put in the gemstore, they would make a lot of cash for novelty factor alone. Heck, I’d probably buy some with my spare gems even if they offered NO advantage.
Endgame is customisation – give us more customisation options!
Engineers are the Master Class!
Best profession by a looooooong measure!
:D
You can buy it on the TP.
You might still be able to remove them and have them converted to tonics by the guy near the TP in Divinity’s Reach.
Says a pver.
Oh, so Engineer is meant only to be used in WvWvW/PvP then? And yes, I do PvE exclusively. For me, the kits are the only way to have a functional build.
Engineer doesnt need more weapon swaps. It needs the weapons it has to be useful. CDs are too long and advantages too small.
As it is, if you dont play kits you arent playing engineer. Period.
Lets look at rifle:
- a shot that is not as powerful as Ranger SB and much slower, has shorter range than Warrior, does not bounce or AOE on hit. A weak and useless skill.
- 2 1/2 secs Immobilise with no damage and 10s CD. Useless.
- functional
- is as much a disadvantage to you as the enemy vs groups of enemies. Its condition removal is its only function.
- functional but why only 3 vuln? I can apply more than that with Opening Strike on Ranger, and can apply far more in a stack with its AA on sword. 20s CD. Useless.
And pistols:
- functional if a little weak. Not a match for Thief SB or Ranger Axe.
- weak and pointless. 2s poison? Hardly any impact damage and 10s CD? Useless.
- weak. 134 damage vs #1s 118. 4 bounces of blind and confusion is only useful if you are trying to escape.
- functional.
- does NO damage, just immobilise and cripple with 30s CD. Useless.
Shield:
- reflection functional, push back useless.
- Throwing damage is ok, but if you are hit whilst it is charging, it does NO damage at all, just stun. Useless.
Shield is a waste of a weapon slot. All the Engineer weapons are useful for is storing sigils for your kits.
Oh yeah, when I was at computer college we ran on IBM 486 SX33s, then 50s, then 66s. They really splashed out and got a 90 with a hand roller scanner.
We did NVQ3 on WordPerfect 5.1or Word 6, Aldus Pagemaker, Excel andd DBase IV.
Okay, I’m not as old as some in the thread but maybe folks will enjoy some of these memories.
I was born in England in the same year as the car I passed my test in: a 1976 Vauxhall Viva HC. 1300cc was considered a reasonable sized engine back then! Fernando by Abba was No.1 that week (though I was too early to remember it!).
I remember my father’s car at the time, a Ford Cortina III. Grandad had one too. They both crashed them in the same week! So my dad got a Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback. It went 86mph, which was pretty swift for a regular car in those days.
I still have my Atari 2600, Sinclair ZX81 with 16k RAM pack, Toshiba HX-10 and 2 Spectrums (48k and 128 +2). The hit computer games back then were River Raid, Pitfall, Super Breakout, Manic Miner, Donkey Kong and Saboteur. My first ’RPG’s were The Hobbit and Tir Nan Og on the Spectrum.
Our only music ‘downloads’ came from the radio. My sister used to be poised over the pause button near the end of a song to stop the tape the moment the DJ started speaking. In the early days, we didn’t have twin cassette decks, so music was copied using 2 players, one with record, and a very quiet room. We listened to Duran Duran, The Teardrop Explodes, Bananarama, Kajagoogoo, The Smiths and my sister liked Siouxsie Sioux. I, meanwhile, loved Kate Garner from Haysi Fantayzee and was a huge fan of Adam And The Ants.
We were the first people in our street to have a CD player. Many of the first albums were compilations, to start the market, I still have a 1982 copy of ‘A Classic Case Of Funk’. After we got it, we went to dine at Wimpy’s, a pretty deluxe chain at the time. McDonalds didn’t have as high a status.
Every kid has their favourite toy. Mine was the generation 1 Transformer named ‘Huffer’. He was only a little one, but a surprise gift from my parents when their finances were at their lowest ebb. Noone got much cash for free from the government in 1984. I remember that Christmas, my only xmas present was ‘Prowl’. I wanted ‘Jazz’ but Argos didn’t have him in. Since then I always loved the Datsun ZX240
Other toy lines were MASK, Visionaries, He-Man, and I used to watch Pole Position, Ulysses 2031 and Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors on TV. My older sister like Bananama and Dangermouse more. Saturday morning TV was shows like Tiswas, Saturday Morning Swap Shop, and ‘Why Don’t You?’. Televisions and VHS recorders were too expensive to buy for us, so we rented from Rumbelows.
Please share some of your own memories!
After leveling 14 or 15 80’s (I’ve deleted several) and starting a mesmer from the ground up, I’m so disappointed in how the change in traits is. Honestly, why on earth would you (Anet) decide that finishing a level 60-70 area such as Mount Maelstrom be doable by a level 36 toon? I imagine you’d rather have people just purchase them from the trainers.
The previous system was working just fine. It wasn’t confusing like you had touted during the feature patch. Even I, an old woman, was able to figure it out. The new system does absolutely nothng for a player to try different builds out. Yes, a toon made before the patch has a chance to do that, but the new system is without merit. For this, my last toon, I’ll choose a build that is online, and ONLY unlock those traits. I refuse to unlock the other traits until I’m level 80, since I’m not going to pay 3g for GM trait. This system has the repercussion of many players running around traitless until they are 80 as well. And there have been many good suggestions on how to scale traits, so I won’t reiterate. It’s kind of sad because leveling was what I enjoyed most about the game. but not now. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying any character slots in the future.
I agree with every single word except one…
You aren’t ‘old’, you are ‘of superior life experience’

As Community Relations, he should be communicating our concerns to his bosses, getting answers which he CAN publish, and giving them to us.
Thats like, his job, y’know.
So, about the only posts we have had from devs addressing ALL the issues people have with the MegaPatch are in here:

Wow, such depth of communication. Such dialogue!
Really pleased that your Community Customer Special Operations team is communicating with us so well.

Maaaamaaaaaa! Just killed a warband! Put my hammer against their heads, took a swing and now their dead.
Mama… my new character has just begun. But now they’ve taken all my traits away!
>:)
I always considered it part of the design, like Charr needing holes in the back of their pants for the tails…
Oh wait…
Sometimes its a nicer community. Higher percentage of English speakers also plays a part for me. I do not experience these lag issues.
No need to be confused about anything Anet has no interest in making. They have sent some very strong messages this last couple of months about what they think of roleplaying and accessories for such.
If they couldn’t even manage a balance patch during last Living Story because of the work involved, don’t expect any epoch-making additions soon.
Piken Square, its still pretty active at The Busted Flagon, but the one in Ossan is quiet, and Mermaids Whisper is hit-miss. Tarnished Coast, its still active at Ossan, less so everyone else.
Outside the cities, its a bust.
I’m not that old… but I still have a working Barcode Battler :p
As said by Claudius and others, this heavily restricts your ability to fine tune your skills as you level up. Some skills that are reasonably intrinsic to a character’s optimal roles are locked behind those high level unlocks I mentioned above, with some professions e.g Speedy Kits for Engineer. You want to run with a WvWvW zerg, speed boons are important. But you now have to be lvl 80 or near to hope to unlock it.
Why does an adept trait have unlock requirements so high? Surely the unlocks should be based on the trait level.
Beats me. But thats the requirement to unlock Line 5, skill 6. Its insanity!
Only one thing…..looks like Skeletor
Ha ha my first thought as well, that was!

Nnnooooo I don’t think thats what I said. English not your first language?
Is it me or do the jaws of the belt skull look… inconveniently placed?
Don’t bend over too fast or you’ll be having a belated Bar Mitzvah
What is AARP? :o
I dont think LS was all that bad. It was inconsistent and felt stitched together, but was OK.
I find that TC has more quantity, Piken Square has more quality. I region hop depending on what I am looking for
Probs my 4th reply on this thread. Never used forums before until this awful stupidly designed trait system.
But…what if they did this by purpose? So the Chinese players buy heaps of gems to make the game easier, since they’re a larger audience. Cause seems awfully strange to me Anet hasn’t responded about a topic that literally builds someones character and the game itself. Stuff em
Personally, I think this has EVERYTHING to do with the China synch. Sure, the publisher is Chinese, but they still require updates and such from Anet, and it makes some things so much easier if they are in synch.

Also, I am guessing that these traits are all unlocked for PvP. If not, PvP players are going to have a bad time of it! And if so, they can use traits in PvP mode then find they go out into PvE or WvWvW and, confusingly, half their traits are gated from them!
Good idea but some of the unlocking requirements are stupid.
I chatted with a player on Dragonbrand who said she was 74. I have no reason to doubt her and think its very cool that we have such an inclusive community!
Now if you knew more about them, the mystery would be disspelled and you may not find them so interesting
Add to that the fact that they are Underwater Winged Drow (some of them even carry double scimitars in a not so veiled reference to a certain known Forgotten Realm fiction hero), and that their females dress in bdsm gear, to get a complete description.
(though yeah, as people mentioned, their accent is no middle-eastern but fake russian. Which doesn’t make it any better)
I… have no idea what a drow is.
The Arabic style names made me think that they are trying to imitate Arabic accents. I guess I don’t sound much better when I am trying to imitate a Spanish accent in offline RP, mind you!
No, they are native English speakers trying to imitate middle-easterners.
And if the Tethyos Compact is not secretive, maybe you can share with us it’s knowledge?
I for one know that I don’t know Jack about it!
