Heck, even APB: Reloaded has the ability to choose your own district, and if a low grade Z-list title like that can do it, why can’t GW2?
I’m no lore expert but the glaring error I see is 0AE – Human gods bring humans back to Tyria.
AE = After Exodus, I thought? Isn’t that when the human gods left?
I have the GoT first 3 seasons on DVD.. really need to get round to watching them.
english company, english game, english language, they should assimalate to our way of life or go make their own video game
Steady on there, old chap. That comes across as a bit racist, dontcha think?
After all, since China is now the only important market to Anet, surely we should all be learning Cantonese?
Dulfy always posts at least abbreviated transcripts. The POI one is here: http://dulfy.net/2014/06/20/gw2-points-of-interest-dev-livestream-notes/
I simply can’t be bothered to cut em all out but here are mine anyway. This is the entire cast of characters I shall ever have thanks to the trait changes.
Left to right is:
Solann Starwood (ranger), Psi Knight Brindis (guardian), Manya Ivanova (warrior), Solissa Starwood (ranger), Deanna Raevon (necro), Adria Zanotti (engineer), Rhubarb On Fire (elementalist), Spachiana (mesmer), Leveillei (thief), Vittai (warrior), Chaos Engineer Eebi (engineer).
Honestly, this thread should have been stickied already along with the feedback thread about the new trait system.
They won’t do that because Anet wants the criticism to die, they don’t want to know what we think. I think that by this stage they want all the critics to give up and slink away from the forums (maybe the game, too).
For me, the most telling part was when the deleted the Facebook post about the Megaservers. FB is far FAR more public than the forum, and more likely to be the first impression of the game for new players.
We would grovel and pay for a simple free waypoint to our racial home cities, and we have been asking for nigh on 2 years and we don’t have one.
Pray to the god of Brick Wall Over There. It is listening more than Anet is.
Absolutely no chance.
If they add a new race so soon after the China launch, the Chinese may think it is a regular thing for the game. Since China is all that Anet cares about now, they will avoid doing something to raise expectation within that market beyond what is reasonable.
You have to remember that we in the ‘old world’ (US/EU servers) are yesterday’s toys now. We have to think of what China wants/expects.
Just watched the latest Livestream. They say they are constantly reading feedback and add things depending on that feedback.
Like hell they do.
There we are. Over 2 Lunar months (not Calendar as I said earlier…
) and not even a response from Anet that acknowledges our concerns.
May as well stop posting now, Anet has shown that they don’t give a kitten.
Did we ever get an answer as to why they blocked off Salma uninstanced?
It had been acknowledged as a bug, in both senses of the word.
Personally, I don’t want it fixed. It was great having 20+ people fight it for over 20 mins, knowing we were getting no loot at the end of it. It was just funny.
Of course, this is a reference to the song ‘Psalm 69’, right?

Potential Playable Races
Terra Races
- Kodans
- Tengus
Amphibian Races
- Largos
Aqua Races
Sub-terrain Races
I edited your list to remove all the ones that are competely nonsensical and impossible to have as potential playable races. You really ought to read previous posts before you reply.
None of the ‘study’ races are possible. None of the direct antagonists such as centaurs are possible (and how would centaurs swim?).
So what is left? Kodan – too close to Norn. Largos – would make no sense from a lore perspective.
That leaves Tengu which will be difficult to make/adapt armour for.
Here we go again. Time for the copy-paste reply:
Forget anything that is a studyable race in the LS. Thats Ogres, Skritt, Hylek, Grawl, Quaggans.
Forget any of the antagonist races/factions. That would be Centaurs (plus, how would they swim?), Nightmare Court, Flame Legion, Inquest, Svanir.
Largos are out as, according to the personal story, they are incredibly rare and avoid contact with all other races if at all possible. It would be as stupid as the Miqo’te in FF14 ARR – they’re supposedly rare and solitary creatures yet the designers make them in such a way that EVERYONE who faps to nekomimi will roll one.
What does this leave us? Kodan, Tengu, Ettin and a handful of others which have groups who are non-antagonistic. Kodan is out right away, they are Norn-based. Tengu are possible but require a very specific armour redesign and we can see what a mess Anet made of Charr armour. Ettin would be fun, but they don’t wear clothes so we can forget them.
Personally, I want to see playable Ooze, but I know it’ll never happen.
Playing Defiance. Given up on GW2 for the time being.
On Tuesday, it will be TWO CALENDAR MONTHS between the patch and one single confirmation from Anet that they even acknowledge our concerns.
If they don’t care about their customers anymore, I don’t care so much about the providers.
Tarrnished Coast will welcome all Piken Square residents who wish to join us!
I certainly do. TC has more quantity when it comes to roleplay, but Piken Square has better quality. Let me know if there is a mass exodus, and I will bring my PS character over to TC too. Multiboxing/computering FTW!
Outside of stupid guild mission issues, I can honestly say the megaservers has only changed my experience in one way: there are more people around.
Other than that, it feels exactly like it did before with Overflow. Going to any crowded spot would put you in an overflow with players from all sorts of servers. Which is essentially exactly how it is right now.
If that was enough to make you quit the game, then it honestly sounds like you didn’t enjoy the game in the first place.
The problem is, by overcrowding the maps, they have removed the life from the game. This game is about the player (or small group) against all the dangers and challenges of a wild frontier. The hero standing against monsters and dragons, the one who fights for hope where there is only despair…
And then 6 other players, all heading in random directions appear and scoot off to pursue their own goals firing arrows, bullets, laser beams and freaking unicorns all over the place.
It is 100% immersion breaking. Not to mention the complete and utter wreck it has all made of guild missions or anything that requires a large coordinated group.
All it would take to make me happy with the Hobosack, is an option to never stow weapons.
A question I am asking myself more and more as time goes on without a reply to our concerns.
Anet says, correctly, that the majority of the playerbase do not use the forums. Admittedly, many here are present to whine and complain (myself included sometimes). But surely there should be some indication of the feedback of the playerbase reflected in the posts on this forum.
And yet we are still being completely ignored.
Kittykat it, I’m going back to Defiance/whatever worthy game I can find.
Definitely one of the most pressing issues with GW2 right now!
And OMG the Rata Sum Asura portals now show their destinations on the minimap!
My life is complete!

Yeah, seeing map caps of 75+ isn’t working right now. I think I’ve seen an entire map pile on Ulgoth, and it was just ridiculous. I’d say drop it to 50, but then Teq and Wurm would probably be spread too thin on people…
Yesterday doing MAW, there were so many people in my shard that I didn’t manage to get credit for Protect The Supplies, Protect Scholar Brogun, Destroy the Dragon Totem or Destroy the Elite Guard because I just wasn’t in the right place at the right time. I wasn’t on a lowbie character either, I was using an 80.
What these event must be like for lower exp levelled character I have no idea. I fought at a Fire Elemental yesterday as well, broke off from fighting when it was at 80% health to res defeated player. and by the time I got him up, the event was over.
Completely ridiculous – Anet has reduced their own game into farce.
no point? ppl had great server communities. we knew which guild is which so we knew how they work, who to avoid. /m chat was useful for any info, now is just spam with “smart” comments and word battles among english speaking players and none english. chat is full of hate most of the time. A LOT gold seller spammers everywhere. trying to make a farm party fails to the point u don’t give a kitten anymore… and so on.
You misunderstand I think. I mean, why do we have home worlds when we are all mixed together like alphabetti spaghetti. If they want to keep Megaserver, they may as well end home servers altogether.
How do we chose quieter worlds?
Choose? sigh You people want everything! [/sarcasm]
Right now, there is no point or purpose AT ALL for having a home world, except for WvWvW. And that could be handled a much better way (guild alliances).
What I would have happily accepted is something akin to the following:
Adept traits: These would be unlocked by completing hearts – 10 to unlock all the I traits, 20 for all of II, 40 for all of III, 60 for all of IV, 80 for all of V, 100 for all of VI
Master traits: Unlocked through story – lvl 20 to unlock VII, 40 to unlock VIII, 60 to unlock IX, last mission before Zhaitan (Source of Orr) to unlock X. Alternatively, levels 5, 10, 25 and 50 in WvWvW progression or something similar in PvP.
Grandmaster traits: Unlocked through dynamic events – 50 for XI, 150 for XII.
This would give something more akin to a real feeling of progression.
Heh, I think its funny as heck, leave it as is!
Myself and about 15-20 other players were at it for 15 minutes today, even though someone said it only gave a trophy loot. All I got was 50c and 1 Prickly Spider Leg, but man, I earned that leg! It was great to see the determination even though we knew there was no real reward.
Generally I get to lvl 70 and PS 40. The remaining PS is enough to take me to 80, so this seems very feasible. If you dont hit 80 from the PS, you must be mighty close.
Guested, worked. Thanks!
They removed the megaserver post from the Facebook too because of the criticism, I am sure. But they know non players and don’t come here so they don’t give a **** about us.
Gotta ask why you’re sticking two fingers up at the camera?
You know 2 fingers that way round is an insult, right?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the book!
I love the vendor shouting “Sweets for the sweet tooth!”. Nice WH40k reference right there
Just imagine how hot and sweaty Marjory must be in that coat. Plus she seems allergic to sunlight AND water. I bet she doesn’t even shave her armpits.
Eww, Kasmeer can keep her!
This is the jumping puzzle that made me head out on a Sunday to buy a £70 Steelseries mechanical keyboard and throw the bubble-sheet POS in the trash!
I had a little chuckle over the mega server Tequatl poster.
It reads: “Take the battle to Tequatl with our new mega servers”. I think Anet is oblivious to the fact that we don’t want to take the battle to Tequatl… we want to take the battle to the mega servers.
Exactly what I said in response to it. I wonder if my post is still highest like…
Oh, what a surprise. the poster and its replies are nowhere to be seen…
Total head-in-sand BS.
You have truly bested us on TC. I bow to your superiority. Congratulations on your now-assured win.
Now please let me into Woodhaven and your camps on EB so I can finish my mapping!
Please?
;)
This is what it feels like to be second class citizens. We are old new, China is ‘in’ now.
What character personality feature?
I played since day one (not during beta), but not sure what you are referring to
The Charm/Dignity/Ferocity thing.
More Story and some events with living story. These brought some new minigames that were extremely fun, but hardly something new that was “core”
Ascended gear
1 new healing skill per class
You forgot something:
The removed the character personality feature. For what little good it was, it was at least there. But hey, less is more!
Try looking down the back of the sofa. I always find my HP points there.
Its adorable on Asura!
Please make this available! throws money at screen
Not happening. Anet has said it is not happening. It is one of the few things they have ever been adamant and forthright about.
No. Not. Happening. Ever!
From an RP point of view, none of my characters actually killed Scarlett, so it actually bothers me if I am credited
TBH I dont think people putting odd numbers of points in trait lines is that much of a problem. You still get benefit from it and most people, even stupid ones like me, tend to min-max.
Having said that, I dont have a problem with consolidating 70pts to 14. Its the lvl 30-60 change and the means of accessing traits that I find unpalatable.
Thank you to the people behind the rewards for the Festival Of The Four Winds. It allows people to get some skins that they may have missed first time around because of other commitments or they just weren’t playing back then.
Rather than putting these on the gem store and monetising them, I heartily congratulate Anet for making them earnable in-game. I’ll get my Slickpack yet!
There are at least 3 threads specifically detailing the issues with each aspect of the path that I mentioned. If they are reading these as they claim to do, the developers know what I am talking about. But to summarise:
Megaservers: People not able to participate in guild rushes because of map player caps spreading them all about the show. Lag and disconnect issues.
Traits: being difficult to access for players compared to before, making it harder to experiment with builds, lower level players being forced to play sub-par builds because of this unless they buy manuals, temples not giving traits when they are constantly held so the trait earning triggers do not fire, and the ridiculous notion that more restriction constitutes a ‘horizontal progression system’.
RP Community: log into an RP server’s instance of Divinity’s Reach at peak time and thats the end of your RP in that city for the evening.
So much criticism, and we have had no community support commentary at all regarding the megaservers, traits and RP community issues that have been pounded out for over a month now.
Whilst the trait alterations to reduce some of the ridiculous requirements are appreciated, there are still several issues to be solved.
Now that the traits have been changed and this act has assuaged (but not removed) my irritation on that level, two issues still remain.
1- I can log into Divinity’s Reach as many times as I want at US prime time and 8/10 times I will not be on the same overflow as most of my server’s players. Being Tarnished Coast, this ruins any chance of roleplaying in the small window of opportunity that I already have.
2- The complete lack of comment and therefore regard by the developers on all these issues is a major concern. If I found a defect or issue with any company’s product and contacted them with my concerns, I would expect a reply within, at most, a week.
We are now on, what, 37 or 38 days after the feature patch, and we have received no realistic support or comment on these issues.
