Headache after farming in LA under attack

I have the issue where I get dizzy with a lot of motion blur (Thief dagger skills cause it, the old PS2 games Primal and Bloodrayne did it too). I get a similar effect of queasiness from all the red hue in LA.

Add to this the issue that at certain times of the day, the sun shines onto my screen and if I close the curtains… well, they are red!

I can never play more than 2 runs back to back in LA.

Inb4 Marjory is an illusion

I like this. Maybe Kasmeer’s tragic past made her jaded and she conjured up an illusion to be her perfect companion to escape her loneliness and pain. All this while we thought that arguments about curtain color were bad writing, but it was just a window into Kasmeer’s demented mind. Bravo to the writing team!

Nah, Marjory is Kasmeer’s inflatable love doll which she made into a living person since she had no family/friends.

Well, apparently they are about to re-make Wierd Science

There are really only two options.

1. The living story is in fact living and makes permanent changes to the world. LA is blown up and reduced to a pile of rubble and becomes a very different zone forever.

2. The living story is not actually living, and just a few buildings are burned down and the city is repaired in a few months. LS is a failure and the game is screwed.

Yeah, because noone ever bothers to fix destroyed cities.

I’ll point it out politely, before one of the forum cowboys jumps in…

She is not referring to the Molten Alliance, she means the Steam creatures out in Lornar’s Pass. She was there well before the living story began.

I am a big lover of Cyberpunk… played TSR’s Cyberpunk since Friday Night Firefight in 1988, still play CP2020. High fantasy stuff is usually way out of my realm of interest since I love near/darrk future stuff so much. Mixing it into GW2? No.

There is already a LOT of Cyber/steam/clockpunk and futuretech in GW2, even to the point of feeling a bit forced. Armoured knights in armour with swords even look a little anachronistic sometimes. If you want to RP a Cyborg, fit one of the cyber style eyepatches, make your character’s skin pale and type in chat Dalek-style.

Characters of color?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GuzziHero.2467

Darker skin, especially dark African tones, look better real life in my opinion, since they show off muscle definition much more strongly than whiter ones. There’s a reason why body builders in competition use a lot of spray tanning.

I have a few darker skinned characters (I guess more is more bronze) and they look very beautiful but as mentioned above, in a 2-d setting you lose definition with dark colours. I don’t know if it is because of melatonin, or more likely shadows you get r/l and not in games.

There is, however, a SEVERE lack of customisation options in game which allow for a true African look. There are aspects of African facial features which the game doesn’t cater for (wider noses, deeper brows, more full ears etc). It’s a shame, really. My only truly dark skinned character had to be designed based on a Moroccan/north African appearance because of these limitations. She’s dark, but does she look African? Not really.

what race would you make playable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GuzziHero.2467

Largos- while rare- since they come for the endless ocean- are not solitary creatures at all.
They have a very structured society made up of the great Houses, the NPC’s we come into contact with belong to one faction the Tethyos Compact.

They do keep to themselves but seeing that they are basically fleeing horrors in the unending ocean there is no reason why they cannot mingle with the other races- they did co-exist with the quaggans for instance.

Btw being a 42 year old female that has apparently lived a sheltered life, I had to Google nekomini- and all I can say is don’t know how you get from there to Largos.
but allrighty then :P

The Largos are incredibly aloof and arrogant, as well as considerably too ‘dark’ in nature to be a heroic race. They also follow their own doctrines, as you say, which do not often coincide with the needs or other races:

“I live according to the dictates of the Tethyos Compact, with honor and without mercy. My presence here is in service of those dictates.”

“The ruling houses of the largos convened and agreed upon a set of principles to guide our people. This is all I care to share with you. Be glad I’ve said this much.”

This basically means that they don’t care if all the land races are exterminated, as long as it does not involve their personal politics. Their entire mystique relies on theim being extremely secretive, and making them a playable race would destroy that mystique.

Only a handful are seen in the game, and they are usually abrupt, aggressive or murderous (such as the Unseen Hunter in the dynamic event in Brisban Wildlands). I cannot see them being, or being able to be, applied as an actual detailed playable race.

The nekomimi reference was only there since the Miqo’te are supposed to be rare and solitary creatures whereas nekomimi (which they basically are) are extraordinarily popular amongst anime and manga fans. The popularity of bunny/catgirls in anime and manga completely opposes the supposed lore of the Miqo’te.

GuzziHero.2467

I really need to clipboard the rationale that someone posted in one of the other 5000 threads on this topic.

To summarise though:

Forget anything that is a studyable race in the LS. Thats Ogres, Skritt, Hylek, Grawl, Quaggans.

Forget any of the antagonist races/factions. That would be Centaurs (plus, how would they swim?), Nightmare Court, Flame Legion, Inquest, Svanir.

Largos are out as, according to the personal story, they are incredibly rare and avoid contact with all other races if at all possible. It would be as stupid as the Miqo’te in FF14 ARR – they’re supposedly rare and solitary creatures yet the designers make them in such a way that EVERYONE who faps to nekomimi will roll one.

What does this leave us? Kodan, Tengu, Ettin and a handful of others which have groups who are non-antagonistic. Kodan is out right away, they are Norn-based. Tengu are possible but require a very specific armour redesign and we can see what a mess Anet made of Charr armour. Ettin would be fun, but they don’t wear clothes so we can forget them.

Personally, I want to see playable Ooze, but I know it’ll never happen.

Stop!!! My sides are splitting, you’re killing me!! LOL.

You haven’t proven anything. You might think to YOURSELF that you earned respect and game knowledge, and gained leadership skills, the instant you bought a commander tag, the truth is, all you did was spend 100g and then start trying to tell other people what to do for a quick fix for your inflated ego.

I’m glad that you have the insight to determine my motivations and personality from posts on a forum. Congratulations! You may have just founded a whole new realm of psychology. I’d patent that before someone else discovers it, if I were you.

In reality, I am an extremely humble person who measures my respectworthiness by the endorsements of others, and I have received many such endorsements. That’s what makes ‘commanding’ (or probably ‘advising’ is a better word) so rewarding for me. I could care less about the rewards, but the appreciation of others is worth more than a precursor to me.

However, it is obviously beyond your capacity for reasoning to appreciate that there are good commanders out there, so I think I’m done with this conversation. Please continue to enjoy event failure because the cats won’t be herded into understanding the mechanics which ensure success.

And fail frequently, I’ll bet. You and your ilk are probably the first to go rushing to Dulfy when you can’t work things out, yet will refuse actual live on-the-spot information through kitten stubbornness.

Way to spin that 180°, Watson.

I was mocking people who refuse to listen because they’re basically saying, “[I don’t have to listen to the commander,] I play how I want.”

But okay keep getting bamboozled. I pin up when I do a temple or world boss so the people in that zone who don’t camp timers get the general idea, “hey, something must be going on over there.”

Ah, having re-read it, it makes sense now. Sorry bout that.

In that case, please read my reply as “THEY are the type of people who…”

(At least, unlike many in this community, when I make a mistake I can appreciate and apologise for it, instead of blaming others).

GuzziHero.2467

Well, I guess this thread has just helped to assert just how bad this community has gotten. When children get bored, they have nothing else to do but try and ruin another’s fun, I guess.

I resisted buying a ComTag for a long time. I criticised PvE only commanders, referring to them as ‘Lootenants’, and swore I wouldn’t get one since I have no special skills or knowledge that entitles me to one. I got one simply because I was at a Marionette battle where there was NO useful exchange of information and an aformentioned Lootenant was hopping about like a grawl when we should have been preparing. I got the ComTag not for some selfish desire to look ‘big’, I got it so that I could help rally people and prevent event failures.

You know what? I hope I do get a refund (I submitted the ComTag view blocking as a bug), since 100g is more valuable to me than helping a ‘community’ which doesn’t care.

Thank goodness some people can still make constructive posts.

Welll, I always try to have a bit of fun in chat before the event, a few jokes etc including jokey threats about rangers who use Hyena on warden 5. Try to get the advice across in a friendly manner.

Then when in the event I will post “DEATH BALL SPAWN” or “CHECK BARRIS PLEASE”. I’m not shouting at, I am shouting to get the job done. I run a DPS oriented warrior as my commander, often doing a 5th or more of the damage to champs on my own. If I leave to repair barricades, thats a valuable DPS source going to waste.

If we win, we sometimes (but not always) get a “Thanks to the commanders”. But if we fail, hoo-boy. Then I get complete ****s like that one guy I mentioned on Tarnished Coast who actually interrupt their combat to post “YOURE NOT THE BOSS OF ME”. That is why we fail.
