I have had a real struggle getting ectos as well. Maybe the drop rate was too high, looked like I was averaging 1-2 per rare with Masters.
lol
1-2? lucky you. I’m averaging 0-1 using masters.
I worded it badly. I should have said that I used to get 1-2, now it is like a .4 maybe .5 drop rate, and triples are exceedingly rare.

Absolutely! Many thanks for the Anet staff who got this sorted so fast!
Since others have montaged their characters, here are all mine (80 all of them).
Psi Knight Brindis, Guardian. Based on a character I played in RIFTS pen n paper RPG.
Manya Ivanova, Warrior. Based on a character I started on APB: Reloaded.
Solissa Starwood, Ranger. Started on GW2, has passed into offline Cyberpunk RPG.
Deanna Raevon, Necromancer. Based on offline Top Secret: SI RPG character.
Adria Zanotti, Engineer. Started on GW2, has passed into offline Cyberpunk RPG.
Rhubey, Elementalist. Rhubey short for Rhubarb, I like the rhubarb-on-fire pun.
Spachiana, Mesmer. Based on Echinopsis Spachiana, a cactus with hallucinogenic properties.
Leveillei, Thief. Named after Anemone Leveillei, a type of plant.
Vittai, Warrior. Cutest Asura ever, Vittai name based on Vitality/Vitae. I think it fits.
I stood watching one. It was boring.
Boring, as in boring a hole? Geddit?
I’ll get me coat then…
Yesterday, I dragged 6 Branded (mostly Charr) into a Princess Doll mob… they got polished off in seconds!
With my Lvl 80 warrior in a lvl 65 zone, I cast all my shouts, and a 100 Blades, took about 10% damage off one of them, then ran like heck!
She was in Frostgorge earlier, its pretty random. Non-starter methinx.
We have had threads about this before.
For me, the races break down like this:
Humans: any profession suits them as magic and technology have an equal place in their history. Heck, most of the professions (or the GW1 professions that progressed into renamed/modified/combined professions in GW2) have patron gods.
Charr: Warrior/Guardian (Blood), ranger, thief (Ash), Engineer (Iron). I cannot see Charr being into all the flouncy mesmer magic stuff, unlikely that a Charr necro would have any place in their society, and as soon as an Elementalist attuned to fire he.she would probably be executed!
Sylvari: Guardian, Ranger, Thief, maybe Mesmer, unlikely Engineer. But with the racial seed turrets the latter is unlikely as there is little evidence of engineering tech use in The Grove or south Caledon. It is a skill which would possibly become more widely tought as the Sylvari continue to integrate with other races and they learn from them. Necro, no chance. Why would a plant species have any form of power to reanimate animals? It makes zero sense. Elementalist is also highly unlikely, I cannot see the Sylvari having, or being able to set up, schools of magic.
Norn: Pretty much every profession except Mesmer and Necros would be exceedingly rare. I cannot see a huge hulking beefcake race having an interest in flouncy illusionist magic except for amusement.
Asura: Warrior for the Peacekeepers only (who would, incidentally, be the ‘drop-outs’ of Asura society. The ones incapable of even holding a temporary part-time assistant apprentice position in a laboratory). Perhaps Ranger as a Peacekeeper scout, or Thief employed to steal secrets from rival labs/Inquest. None of the magical races would apply, and the tech that Engineers use in GW2 would be so far below Asuran capability as to be laughable. “What? You actually use gunpowder propelled projectiles? How quaint! Here, check out the blueprints for my new 2000MW man portable plasma facemelter!”
My personal choice is: Human Engineer (since as in real life, firearms and light armour/no armour would eventually dominate sword and armour equipped soldiery), Sylvari Ranger (in tune with nature etc), Asura Warrior (if it had to be a combat class at all, since an Asuran normal sized sword would be ineffective on the battlefield and ranged weapons would be the future of combat). I don’t and can’t play Norn or Charr, but if forced I would go Norn Ranger or Warrior, Charr Warrior (Blood), Thief (Ash) or Engineer (Iron).
9×80. One of each plus the cutest Asura warrior in the world.
Sorry, but these guilds are the cause for the lack of players doing the event in the open world. If the only players doing the events are in these 11 guilds, and they all take the fights to the overflow servers, then there are that many less players to do the events on the regular servers. It’s simply a matter of math. And if you seriously think the “correct” way to do this fight is the way these guilds are doing it, then the entire event needs to be removed as it is a complete and utter failure. Any feature that is only available to a small hand full of the community is a waste of resources.
The Teakettle guilds go to overflows because they know that in the open world they will a. all have to guest to one server and b. find the event filled with incredible amounts of stupid people who cant read wont read chat or communicate or coordinate in any way at all.
Don’t blame the revolution, blame the system.
Dances I would recommend:
Ascended Ladder: Dancer lifts right leg and right arm, then hops to do the same with the left, as if climbing a never-ending ladder.
True Devotion: Dancer constantly drops to knees, clasping hands together then bowing, before standing and repeating, in order to pay homage to the one and only true God, Scarlet.
Charr Clipper: Dance closes fists and pulls them across chest towards each other (but not quite meeting), then changes to try to pull pants up, this is to mimic the act of trying to put clothes on which don’t bloody well fit.
The dedicated guilds for this have pretty much killed any chance of doing it unless you join them. It’s really not worth the time or effort to even bother. You can get much better loot much faster by just doing the other boss events.
Please do not blame the dedicated guilds. They are the only people doing it correctly. If you do not like or want the dedicated guilds, then form or join a guild that is large enough and does have the coordination to fight Tequatl correctly.
If you just want to run around effectively solo and ignore the mechanics whilst refusing to communicate with those doing the job right, you will fail each and every time. None of the dedicated guilds like TTS demand 100% repping. They are a response to the new difficulty and mechanics of Tequatl, it’s pretty much the only way that it can be done.
This is an MMO… you may actually come across other people every now and then and -gasp- you may even need to cooperate with them occasionally!
Think about this: TTS and several of the Teakettle Teams intentionally go to overflow so they can assemble cross server teams. Find one of the guys from TTS/TT2 or any of the other Teakettle Teams and ask to join. You can even pop into their TS and chat with them!
Has anyone noticed how rarely any of the servers, even TC, rates as ‘Full’ these days?
More choice is a disadvantage? All you need is Rifle and GS anyway.
I accidentally transmuted a gem store skin part and they refunded me the gems to re buy the skin, asking and trusting me to delete the non relavant parts (I did).
Items gained in game however are very different. They cannot just refund the skin part, they would have to refund the means of purchase. Since that is not possible, no go I am afraid.
And I do feel your pain, I did similar with my Mad King’s Tome. Put it on a new toon, deleted the toon… couldn’t get it back.
Well, for me I think it is partly content burnout and largely that there is no RP in this RPG. All my characters feel the same, even their voices sound the same.
I cannot choose to sympathise with the Separatists. I cannot be initiated as a Flame Legion soldier. I will never enter the Inquest labs as an apprentice.
Any illusion of free choice ends at lvl28 in your racial storyline, when you choose which Order to join. Following that, you have no choice as such, unless you count choosing which near-useless and barely seen minor race you study.
Because of this, reaching 80 feels like a game completion. Now, I love playing the old game Freedom Fighters on the PS2, but if I finished it 5-6 times, I’d probably never want to see it again. That is how GW2 starts to feel after a few alts.
I have 2 warriors. I have little/no reason to variate from one play style and setup – Rifle and GS, traited for maximum GS efficiency.
We need variation, we need choice. GW2 offers little. I still -adore- the game, but that is how I feel.
It is worrying when European Truck Simulator 2 offers a LOT more variety in gameplay than an award winning, multi million £/$/€ game like GW2.

How I feel about GW2 these days…
Snowden Drifts, elehammer with exo 80 PVT gear, downed in 7 seconds by 5 princess dolls. Couldnt even take one down.
These things need scaling to the zone they’re in, this is ridiculous.

G600, same problem, seems worse recently. Also AA cancellation seems worse than ever.
Edit:
Hmm, seems to be when I use skills after pressing G-Shift. In my case, I can see how it may recognise the Gshifted and normal ‘right click’ as different functions. I think that’s the answer for some of us here.
Edit2:
Yep, reassigned my buttons, sorted my issue.
(edited by GuzziHero.2467)
Had a G700, but G600 is the way to go, especially if you play a class which uses a lot of F keys.
You want to survive forever? Necro. I swear, if I put my mind to it, I could WC using necro and 0 deaths, except for the WvWvW parts.
I lurrrve the Steam Staff. It has a sort of red based colour scheme (or the grip, anyway).
There should be an Elite of ‘spawn Protoss Colossus’ for Mesmer. With hallucinations, a skill called Blink, and the GS auto-attack, its clear which game it’s profession designer likes :p
I will most likely be on on the 25th, I plan to be in Queensdale, where most new players will be starting out, on TC. I plan to periodically ask if any new players need advice and to provide it where possible. I might even run a few levelling parties for those new guys.
Hint: The language is called English. Not American. Why should there be a US flag there at all?
The charr love the slyvari. In fact, the sylvari are probably the charr’s favorite race, other than the charr of course. Every charr knows that the best meat at Meatoberfest is smoked over sylvari.
So you are saying the Charr are Vegetarians?
Read it again. He is suggesting that Sylvari are firewood/kindling.
In reverse order of importance:
5 – Not having the option to select a voice for your character. They had enough voice actors, could they not have had 4-5 different voice options? All my characters from one race sound exactly the same as one another. If Defiance can have multi voice options, why can’t GW2?
4 – Making Fractals not fun. They feel a grind because they are a grind. Whats more, with long and short Fractals, you can go in and be in for 40-45 mins, or over 2 hours. Not everyone can commit random large lots of time to these things.
3 – Ascended gear. I don’t need to explain this more than it already has. With this one creation, the game has gone from “having many alts is a minor liability” to “You have alts? You moron! Bwah ha ha haaaa”.
2 – Not allowing us freedom of action in a supposed role-playing game. What if I wanted to side with the Separatists? What if I want to play as an Inquest member? All my moral choices are made FOR me. Where is the freedom? Along with point #5, it feels like each of my characters is just a rubber stamp typical ‘hero’ with no individuality at all.
But the biggest design flaw of all is…
1 – No gelatinous cubes. Or Ooze as playable race. Totally unforgiveable :p
Unless they introduced mounts that were non combat only, and moved at, say 5-6 times running speed. You could click on any part of a map which you had already uncovered, and fly/ride/drive there. Thats all.
I use G9-13 for 1-5, then Gshift 6-10.
G14-G17 is F1-F4 either Gshifted or not.
G18-G20 are awkward to use, so I use G18/G19 for DPi up and down. Cant even remember what G20 is set to.
In the spirit of Kiel/Gnashblade, 2014 will see an election battle between Scarlet and Trahearne for King Of All Cosmos.
Just spend a few minutes fighting a veteran toxic knight. It kept healing and more mobs kept jumping into the fight, so it took about 3 mins. An elite Krait also joined in at one stage.
The total reward from all of that (probably 8 mobs killed plus the elite and the vet?). 2 thorned bags and 2 needles. Ridiculous.
Also, is there any way to get these kitten trikey pieces other than buying from Dee at the rate of one per colour per day (which is utterly stupid)?
Ah, I see. Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, so you would exchange SPs for an account bound scroll which you could then bank and your other characters receive.
Like your ‘main’ paying for a study class for your alt’s skill. Good idea.
Well, I can see why they are soulbound. You could have a brand new character come in with all utility skills (except elites, they’d still have to wait till 30 to unlock the slot) otherwise, rather than progress.
If skill point scrolls were tradeable it would solve the “level grind for SPs” issue, but then would create the issue above – you could come in and just fill up on SPs from the trading post.
I just think it’s going to be a looonnnnggg grind for those wanting to buy new skills on multiple alts.
I am guessing the OP means the Ol’ Stinky SP on top of the hill, south central of Kessex. I managed this because I have a kitten engineer, but yeah to take that event solo is pretty hard. You attack a portal and 3 enemies attack you.
How I did it was a. lvl 80 chara, and b. kite them off one by one. Even after all their motivation bar has gone, you still have to kill one toxic portal for the event completion.
While I am super happy that I have something to spend unused SPs on (thief over 150, warrior over 90), I still have plenty that require SPs to buy the new skills.
I just have one small, simple request. Please do not add more SP worth of skills than there are SPs in the world. I know we can continue to collect by levelling past 80 but… yeesh, for those of us with a zillion alts it will be a nightmare!
Not one of those LDS types who get on my bus and start preaching are you? I’ve kicked off a few of those groups over the years.
Ooze is the only possible option. Just squeeze one into a roughly human shaped zentai suit and Robert’s your father’s brother.
:D I never equipped the enchantment and fought with my own weapons. In fact at least once when I ran this, I never even fought a single enemy.
[[good start to the thread, and it ended in a train wreck. Ah well ]]
Quotes from my top 10:
1 – " I am voting Kiel because I am generally interested in Thaumanova. I don’t give a rat’s hoo-hah about Abaddon. I know what I am voting for. Happy?"
2 – “I do not want to help the Consortium. I want to help the settlers. And if that means being wrong in order to be right, I want to fight alongside Canach.”
3 – on Ascended gear: “My interest in GW2 took a noticeable dip when that came out.”
4 – “I am waiting for the epic finale – Trahearne vs Scarlett.”
5 – “In the low level areas, where your vit is reduced, 4 gift toys can just massacre you.”
6 – “I’ve had this problem for some time but particularly since the Tower of Nightmares patch. I am in a fight, ooh 1/3rd health left, hit 6 and the heal goes 1/2 way then cancels. I didnt dodge, I didnt move back, it just cancels!”
7 – “I am sitting here literally laughing at the tears of the Evon supporters.”
8 – “I have to be honest and say that part of the reason I insist on voting for Kiel (not that I wasn’t anyway) is because of the condescending attitude of some GW1 veterans and their insistence that we should all be interested in the same things that they are.”
9 – On SAB: “I haven’t even experienced the box yet, but seeing the ‘advert’ and battling the chest creatures has given me enough of a taste to say… this is awesome”
10 – “However, my first character was a thief and I don’t feel very… thiefy. I was expecting to sneak about on story missions and steal things from an unawares enemy. Or as a warrior to run in and fight mano-a-mano the Big Bad. On an elementalist, I hoped to use my skills to defeat the enemies with powers of nature. Perhaps on an engineer to manufacture items to fight for me.”
Yet… there is NONE of this. Every single class is run, attack, run, attack. Enemies almost all act one of two ways – close distance and melee or stand back and shoot."
1. Player/guild housing
2. Charr warbike mount (open to all factions cos I dont wanna have to play a Charr)
3. Allow all classes to use all armours
RIP Flamekissed. You made my Elementalist Rhubarb On Fire actually enjoyable to play… :’(
I have a feeling they will either put the effect on winged or reshape the mesh a bit so it no longer uses the exact same mesh as HT3.
Aww darn. I hate Winged.
Highly disappointed. I finally got a look I like for my elementalist sqooshbag and it is taken away. If people are so protective of Culturals, they should be locked to the stats they come with eg cannot be transmuted to Exotic/Ascended :p
I really hope the new skin is just as nice, or even an improvement. I’ll wait and see.
Then_ they knock you kitten over teakettle
Word filter, I love you!
The problem I see is, that when Scarlett is long gone, she will still haunt us in the Fractal…
…unless she is never going to leave/be beaten.
I am waiting for the epic finale – Trahearne vs Scarlett.
It will require a minimum of 100 players to complete the final battle and then, just at the very moment the last of Scarlett’s 1,000,000,000hps is exhausted after a 9 hour battle…
Trahearne will appear and deal the final blow with Salad bowl or whatever his sword is called.
