My good nearly all of my friends get disconnects during primetime. I DONT KNOW WHICH kittenING COMPANY can deny that this is not a game problem…They have a stable connection everywhere but not in gw2!
There is no support and this kitten happens since your february patch….so here is a clever suggestion … look into that what you have changed and test it on your holy and private test servers…It cant be that your game is unplayable for more than 1 weeks now.

The reason they changed 3 round maps is probably to implement a proper matchmaking. At the moment also team curse and other high rank guild have a low ranking due to the fact that they never played 3 round maps in the past weeks. This problem should solve itself in the next week (at least during prime time).
But they have to implement the ladder urgently! -.-
Ok preview for march is out and…again nothing mentioned about pvp related content. Just this living story pve crap. I start to think they laugh that some of us still believe they would restructure their resources on pvp content =/.
Still dont know why we have to wait until mid march to get the question in this thread answered. I mean the devs already see the questions in this thread, hence they should be able to answer already now.

At this point in time there are several good orb runners: Eles, Hunters but also engineers are pretty good. However in this video you did an individual fault (you not watched his pet and got knocked down). Also if you want to counter him during orb running use immobilzes and spike him with a thief. I am personally not a huge fan of gs rangers due to the fact that they are not very viable in team fights.
Never saw a rank 15 player which was better than a r45+ players. Sorry thats just a excuse from low levelers. However a ladder helps these r15er to show that they are better than higher ranked players. You are afraid that someone sees your ranking? Than play hot join.
We dont need anymore glory vendors we need benefits when one have a winning streak.
So after solo 6 matches I am really frustrated. If there is something like matchmaking I dont feel it. I always get some pugs in the range of 1-15 in my team. Some of them have really no idea what there are doing. Today I was hardrezzed more often than the entire past months.
I dont want to be a trainer and since these guys also affect my rating I am tired of them. It does not matter for me if a play against premades but at least I want to play with people on the same skill level like me :/.
Hmm not another buff to spirit health? Seems they realized that they are crap and not even a health increase of about 1500% could make them viable.
So that is the PVP Update we waited for so long!? In the end its just a patch with less PVE content :>.
Yeah also works the other way, however I thought you loose the buff when using a teleport skill (like shadowstep, mesmer portal etc.). That is how it is written in this thread:

If the mesmer portal thing is true I guess they are simply not able to program that you drop the buff when running through a portal.

Everyone who says that 1 tournament ticket was a “barrier” to join Paids is a stupid liar. That statement was maybe true when we had the old Paid system with 5 tickets and a high skill cap but for now its just that they change one word: Paid —> Free
And actually sometimes I don’t want to be ranked and just hanging around with some pugs beside hot join.
They should do something like that:
1 Map based Tournament with random map selector and “stay” feature, so that the winning team can choose (by button click) if they want to stay with all the other winners or if they want to leave the queue. From these type just a ranked and a unranked (with solo queue) version and for me everything should be fine. After a certain amount of wins (3-5) in ranked tourney you are able to get a decent amount of gems – so that we finally got back a worthwhile reward in PVP.
This plus 5vs5 hot joins, single queue in unranked matches and a ladder should help alot in my opinion.

They really just have to learn that promises do not keep that game alive…
In November they promised they have huge ideas (also e.g. with regards to statistic) in their pipeline but they cannot talk about that at this point in time….blabla.
They also promised a huge pvp update “between january and march” (however I already knew at this point that it will not be before march…I start to laugh if this should be the major update with just one additional map and a changed matchmaking code within 4 months – This fact is even funnier if you watch the developers diary (or was it sotg) where they said that creating a map does not take a lot of resources.
However also my friendlist is close to die. I like the combat system but with the changed paid system there is not much left for me. Everyone looks the same, Paid is a zero-sum game since they abadoned gems from pvp and I dont see where I am compared to other gamers, so everyone relies on qp and rank (and I dont play paids anymore since the silent storm week).
Just two recent “Messages of the day” from two of my guilds: “GW2 pvp/tournies are kitten”. And for me this all started when they changed the paid system to a farming festival. Since that day I was forced to play hot join if I want to play pvp (and on my own)….and I hate hot join.
Nevertheless it is interesting, 3 months ago there were a lot of discussion about classes in this sub forum. Now nearly every thread on the first page is about how anet want to progess with pvp and people want answers about upcoming changes because srsly after 1 week in pvp everybody looks the same and you cant distinguish skill (beside that stupid rank).

Yeah its a good counter against conditions but not burst. With just 916 toughness troll urgent won’t help much when a thief tries to burst you.
Troll urgent is helpfull but only in combination with evades, toughness and protection. However healing spring is for 95% of all situations the better skill (probably the best ingame healing skils) since it is a long duration water combo field and has a way shorter cast time.
No traits in wilderness survival = meh
Just 916 Toughness = double meh
Troll urgent and just one condition remove = triple meh
Just not viable for serious tpvp. Sorry mate you are probably one of the easiest targets in pvp.
I totaly aggree – Paids in their current form are boring as hell. Always the same map, the same teams, no benefits. With the old system paids were an adventure for me to compete with the best. I was happy when I reached Kyhlo and got some gems which I could spend in the gem store and also the gear separated me from other players (Yes gear is not everything but it made me somehow proud). The current paid system does not encourage me to anything because its more or less a zero-sum situation (maybe even less). You spend 1 tournee ticket and get oh wow 1 tournee ticket when you win – The gear doesn’t count for me anymore because everyone wears the same standard orr gear.
I maybe could tolerate this but also we are forced to play always the same map a whole week long. Also at the beginning (I quit playing paids because it was boring as hell) we faced alot of hot join pug teams. The challenge and also the incentive of paids is totally gone its more like hot join like farming of qualification points – But qualification points for what? Weekly/monthly tournaments are not announced (not near the horizon) and in my opinion farming qp’s for a event which maybe will be implemented in 3-4 months is not worth to spend hours of my life.
Here are my suggestions: Go over to the old paid system. Use the current paid system for frees but implement a random map selector. Frees should be used for map training and not paid! Until then I will stay with frees (despite the queue is kittening long) :>

That will be very interesting. How do you suggest to stop def eles? I mean he is fast as hell with ride the lightning. Is nearly unkillable and can use all his skills. In my opinion you will have no chance to kill them.
You are right gs/sw+wh rangers might be a good choice but bunker eles are much more viable for all situations. When you put such a map in the current meta, I will definitly say this will bring up your balancing issues much more.
So you did not want to let pet attributes scale with rangers traits. Btw you can trait that your pet gets stronger by 30% when traiting into BM. All what you want is to nerf the pets, so you dont have to care about their damage. Than just say this straight and dont conjure up excuses.
So to summerise the two latest Ranger-Threads one should nerf:
1) Pet damage until you dont recognise them anymore
2) Quicknening Zephir because quickness stomp is way to OP
3) Trap AoE damage because one cant stand in the node while they are planted (Not like it would be possible when engis throw their nades or necros use their springs)
4) Empathtic bond
Hmm than there were suggestion two switch traits and so on and so on. Sorry this class was expected to be broken 2 months ago and now, without any buffs (entangle was not a buff it was a tool tip correction and now it works as intended), just with some pet and shortbow tweaks a ranger is a god in tpvp? Srsly but I really think some of you are arguing because rangers are not freekills anymore. I wait for the day when engis come back to tpvp without bigger changes. Maybe than the same happens to them.
Ah and btw: Rangers can only apply bleeding effectively when flanking. So never turn your back to a ranger.
Haha really? And what do you do, when for example the ranger goes into power and also the pet power scales with the ranger. After such a pet you will instantly see 3 threads in this forum, where people complaining about the “new pet strength”. It is the mechanic of a ranger! When you go to gym to build up your muscles, your dog will not benefit from that. The same is true for gw2 pets…
Even when you spec into BM it happen that in big fights, (>=3 people) glass canon pets will die very often. And dont forget pets are an unreliable constant in a fight because you cant really control them.
And for your interest: 0/15/15/15/25 is not a viable BM build
You cant see them – but you can see when he spams them and assume where they lie based on the fact where the “trap ball” hits the ground. Just let your pet activate them, dodge, avoid them. It is not like they are invisible damage….
He are some counters against trapper (no BM-ranger):
1) Backstab Thief – A good backstab thief will not be seen until he used his backstab combo. A timed backstab combo is able to nearly instakill the ranger. If rangers using a wolf or drakehound you have to be fast!
2) Mesmer: Mesmer is probably the best counter since they have a decent spike and can stun the ranger with his pistol. Also the damage hits the pets, so sometimes and especially the glass canon pets will die. Also entanlge will not really hurt you as a mesmer.
3) Off-Guard: An offguard can do very good damage and combined with the burning I was sometimes very confused were the high damage came from.
4) Burst or condition Engi: Trap Rangers often dont use any Stunbreaker except their trait (every 90 seconds). An engi with decent CC, elixir R, also alot of evades and confusion as well as shield skills can be a decent counter for Rangers in my opinion. Also here be aware of his zephyr burst and proably use your shield skills.
For other classes with current meta builds I think its not that easy, however I am sure that there is a decent counter build for every class.
And again Rangers in general have a really low mobility. He needs to down you because 99% of the time one is not able to escape from battle.
It was never brought up because it works as intended. Every class has their opportunity to nearly safestomp another. Like:
Thiefs : Stealth stomp
Guards: Stability stomp
Ele: Mist form stomp
Warriors: Quickness stomp
Engis: Blind stomp
Without Zephyr stomp rangers would be very susceptible when they want to finish someone since they are not a tanky class.
Rofl funniest thread ever. Bunker Guards complains because Ranger melts him from distance while he is capable to 1on1 every other class easily. Thus he proposes 3 huge nerfs to rangers so that this class will again vanish from tournaments? Noooo…. its not enough to remove quickening zephir from trapper build, also aoe damage has to be nerfed and he must be more susceptible to conditions. In which universe do you life? I can assure you a good bunker still take a while as a ranger (probably you should train a little bit more :/) and trappers are glass canons so he should never win a 2vs1. I propose another nerfs – Just completely remove stability from RaO since ele’s are not capable to free cap farpoint anymore :/.
If they change the meta of the traps, this would be a huge disadvantage, e.g. against bunker eles and also thief’s. ALSO consider that the mobility of a trap ranger is even worse compared to necros. Until most of the traits, especially in the beastmaster tree are completely useless (compared to other classes) and build diversity is not existing they should care about other things. If they offer other viable opportunities (increasing spirit effectiveness (srsly a 10% damage increase with a 30% proc chance every 10 seconds – Anets do your math that 3,5% more damage on a 60 seconds cooldown. And also health should next time increased by about 400% and not 20%….since they are still one hits) we can talk about nerfs.
This build was also available during the time when rangers where treated like trash in tournament. Now you see more and more playing ranger as counter and the other bunkers start to complain about it because it becames much harder to annoy the other team with ridiculous s/d ele’s. And for bunker guards it became much harder to revive downed persons since he can not simply block the damage away.

edit: In 1vs1 a BM is still more effective than a trapper. In my opinion if you weight all pros and cons you see that a trap ranger is more or less balanced (easy to focus, low mobility vs decent aoe damage and condition pressure).

So this is the major pvp update? A new pvp map ? Gz PVP department seems to work hard. I remember an interview where one of you said that creating a new map dont need much manpower (the interview was regards to silent storm map). And Matchmaking is already implemented in my opinion because I mainly fight against players of the same level.
Ah and Anet: Regards to the Free Tournaments -> Congratulations you totally killed them. You want that people train maps in PAIDS? Training should be done in free tournaments or hot join. Since you totally messed up the Paid system my motivation is totally gone because everyone has orian gear and qualfication points are the new honor. Ah and thanks to god you also removed gems from PVP. Now you dont get any benefits in PVP for PVE. Niceeeee
And every WEEK a different map in Paids? You really want that people get tired of all of your maps. Common it cant be that hard to program a random selector for each queue.

Explain me exactly whats the difference between killing the lord while the doors are still closed and a mesmer which abuse his portal to freecap the buffs? Also you have a slightly chance to kill the attackers before they are able to kill the lord.
I explain you in detail why it is an exploit: You need to get in range to start the channeling. When you port out of the range the channeling should be interrupted since you are not in range anymore to interact (like every other class) and you are also not able to finish channeling when do not port back to the buff.
However its somehow frustrating that Arenanet is not able to make a single statement. I mean already high ranked people from curse think this abuse is legit…but maybe they just cant compete against other high ranks without it (sorry bro you deserved it)
I guess easiest way to fix it is to increase channeling time to 11s.

This map so kittening small the portal could be everywhere. There does no counter exist! The same is true for this invulnerable + time warp kitten (shadowstep is a joke against this). Either all or no classes should have access to such huge advantages, since the buffs are gamebreaking most of the time.
If after this week these bugs still exist I will just simply report anybody who is using it in paids because this cannot be intended. Its like porting into red castle on foefire to kill the guild lord
Actually off-hand training is one of the best traits for rangers Oo. Reduced cooldown on torch 5 and it covers ah far bigger area (in my opinion its twice as big as untreated).
However I also tweaked the trapper build so that its better fit to my playstyle.
Rangers dont have to use defense build to be viable in 1vs1. Trapper for example does decent damage and due to the evades u can avoid almose any burst damage. If they spec defense it becomes almost impossible to kill them before the pet kills you. Thats the upside of non-scaling pet attributes. Also as a ranger you can have 3 condition removals which work periodically and independent from each other and they are a viable counter against tornado elementalist since they have a 20 sec stability elite.
If you did not die against a ranger in the past than you are just playing spvp against low level pugs.
Sorry bro but than you are a bad elementalist. No class can compete with elementalist when it comes to mobility. Saw it several times that warriors and thiefs were chases by elementalist after respawn in tpvp (especially bunkers) so that there are not able to support their group.
Ah and Rangers dont have Permaswiftness. They have a warhorn buff (15s on a 35s CD) which they can use outfight. (Infight they have 2 additional 5 sec swiftness buffs). They are pretty bad when it comes to mobility (at least trapper spec).
Its the combination of offensive skills and support capabilities which makes ele too strong in current meta.
However they cannot change portal if they are not able to fix general mobility problems with elementalist. When they remove portal from the game its not possible to counter bunker elementalist anymore…their mobility is just much higher than from any other class, which forces minimum 1 person to defend the close point while the elementalist is possible to roam and support over the entire map.
Actually s/d bunker elementalist are one of the biggest issues in paid tournaments. That is not a question of low or high skill. So please inform before posting nonsense – Thanks.
They either have to limit their mobility or there heal potential. Since mobility would effect every build I think they will reduce their heal (Maybe no heal when they attune to water?!)
Easier than a thief? More frontload than a thief? Hell no.
The only thing ele has over thief is aoe damage/support and bunker ability. Thief is pretty good still; bunkers are just dumb good in a conquest format with classes that can 3-shot nonbunkers.

You can go valkirye and have perma-fury up, having tons of healing and still having 3k+ power.
So many impairing effects, CCs and stuff, your only weakness is range and still you have kittenload of gap closers.
The ele is one of the most powerful classes right now, and bunker eles are currently broken, because it’s ridicolous to have a bunker capable to travel so fast and neutralize a point in a blink of an eye when only 2 classes working togheter can bring it down ( otherwise you’ll easily handle 1vs2 for more than a minute).

Why is everybody using axe with torch. In my opinion crippling the opponent in the fire by using sword is much more powerfull. Also with sword+torch / axe+dagger you have an additional evade on both weapon setups.
And why do you use frost trap and not lightning reflexes. The biggest issue in my opinion is getting stunned outside of rampage as one a additional evade+vigor gives you more survivability in my opinion or do you disagree?
Ones more thanks for sharing it with trait selection and rune selection i fully agree (However i would use energy sigil on both main weapons but thats just me ^^)

First of all, I understand that both D/D-Ele’s with tons of Teamsupport and the S/D-Bunker are pretty annoying builds, very strong and can be hard to deal with, that being said, here are some strategies you can use against them:
How to play a Team with an S/D-Bunker
1) A lot of teams send 1-2 Chars in the direction of the S/D-Bunker at the start of the game to cripple, stun, chill and immobilize him. Most of the time, your Node-def will be able to get the Point capped before the Ele is there, or the Ele has to use up pretty much all of his CD’s.
2) Another way of approaching the scenario is by putting down a portal near your mainpoint and just keep one Char there to keep it neutral or even completely ignore it. The rest of the Team (with the Mesmer), collapses on mid. With 4-5 ppl mid, you’ll be able to get it quite fast. After you get mid, the Mesmer uses Portal and 2+ ppl go back (leave at least the Guard mid), they wipe the Bunker-Ele and now you have 2 Points against a Team with a much lower DMG-output than most Teams that don’t run 2 defensive Chars and you’ve basically won the game.
Sorry but thats totally bullkitten. Seems like you never have really fought against really skilled bunker elementalist. These guys have 14k HP and are not killable by two guys – No matter what you do.
regards 1) In theory thats sounds good but I can tell you for sure we tested it several times. It is not working – No matter what you do a good bunker ele will find a way to deal with it:
- Necro marks -> He will dodge them
- Ranger traps -> Since the only class which can defend a point against a bunker ele is a bunker ranger. You dont use them and if you do its just 1 second of immobilize.
I could go on with every other profession. Since the Elementalist has both stability and mistform he will find a way to get to your homepoint before you are able to fully cap it.
2) The Elementalist on your close is not used to cap the point but to neutralise it. Portal users are often to slow and the node is already decapped. If the Mesmer was fast enough and your point is still capped, the Elementalist will use Tornado to get you off the point.
Forsaker is totally right the meta is broken for now. There is just one group setup which seems to exists and all top teams (except Paradigm which used 2 ranger + 2 elemantalist + Teldoo last time I saw them) are it.
I played one time against Chieftain Ninjas on foefire: We knew Radom would come for our close so we decided to go far and mid. We were capable to kill their Mesmer really fast but anyway it wasnt fast enough. Radom was able to capture our close point and rushing to our point before we were able to fully cap it. And you cant kill this guy with just 2 people since the incredible amount of condition removal and burst avoidance. So we were never capable to cap the point because either mesmer (portal), guard or elementalist were there (I have to say there movement is also really smart).
I dont want that the elementalist will be nerfed to the ground. I can deal with D/D eles but these bunkers are just too strong in my opinion since they also have a lot of group support due to aoe heal and 3 blast combo finishers, 2 blinds and knockdowns. A class with such a high mobility should not be able to bunker like a guard.
However I dont know how to fix the problem since the traits are close to the damage and aura share builds. If they nerf cleric amulett this would also affect other classes so I think this will not happen.
In my opinion a bunker Elementalist is a must in paid tournaments :/ and sadly this will last for a long time.

This is a decent bunker build. However, as always, optimisation is possible but this also depends on your personal playstyle. Its a 1vs1 build but in skilled hands you can also defend the node against 2 people for some time.
It is meant to be a bunker build and its probably the bunker build with the highest damage output comparing all classes.
From my personal experience I can say the only thing which is not capabable to defeat is 1vs1 is a ranger with the exact same build (endless fight incoming).
I really dont know why we always have the discussion about “the bests of their classes”. A ranger is, as every other class, nothing without its team. A good ranger is one, which is capable to analyze and find his role in the team, regardless of whether it is to be a bunker or a condition damage trapper or whatever ranger. This really depends on the team.
It does not matter if you play engineer, guard, necro, ele,… the skills that make you a good player are always the same: Observation and analysis of the match together with finding the best counter possibility, good reflexes and to be adaptive.
However if you are looking for a strong 1vs1 build I prefer something like 0/0/30/10/30 or 0/5/30/20/15. However in a set up with already to defensive specced party members this may be not the best option.

Incredible stupid idea….
Even me as a ranger which also uses builds which are prone to burst must say that this is waaaaaaay to overpowered. Thiefs would disappear from pvp because necros, rangers, engenieers etc. would only equip this rune and you also need just one per team because one can simply reveal where the rouge is located by showing it his teammates by throwing a trap or other aoe.
In my opinion thiefs are not OP anymore in the current meta (Mesmers are much more painful). Deal with them as they are or find another build, which counters them more easily.

Srsly I am close to quit. Usually I can deal with everything but when a Mesmer nearly instakill me (with 2,2k toughness and protection buff) with his 20 stacks vulnarability and 16 stacks of might combo and this bust is AOE than I really think either Anet has no plan from their own game or they are all completly mental.
Sorry but a buff like this should not be out there… neither for 1 month nor for 1 week. I really have to doubt about arenanets authority. At the moment mesmers are like gods in pvp. Tons of Evades, insane damage, sufficient condition removal and over the top team support through null field, portal, time warp etc. etc.
@Fjandi: But you cannot combine these specs with sufficient healing power and Regeneration is where this build relies on. Anyway I do agree that protection is the most important thing, this is the reason why I gave runes of the forge a try.
The key of this build however is to avoid damage by appropiate dodging, blocking etc. This is how burst combos and damage should be avoided in general. And for stun+damage combos I use “guard” as a backup or my elite (RaO or Healing spirit), which is not that bad in combination with BM traits.
Anyway this is not my build I use different ones. This build is more like a one on one build. However some of the trait selections I dont understand

Without want to be rude, from what i see, most fights are against pvp starters. Would be more interesting to know the success in paid tournaments or at least people with rank 25+.

What do expect from using Sigil of minor corruption two times? Also I would change the greatsword by axe/torch or sword/torch and focus a little bit more on condition damage.
An evasive Bunker has not much more HP in my Opinion. He is focused on regeneration and Protection combined with lots of Toughness and Condition removal to heal up lost HP relatively quickly.
Remember as less HP you have as easier it is to recover them by your healing skills. The only thing why you need vitality is due to conditions which bypass your toughness/armor.
So next round:
1) Ship from lions arch to sea of sorrows ! This is far more reliable to find an overflow server where the event is still on!
