As I said, it was supposed to be a private scrimming session, in preparation of the ToL EU that was to take place the following day.

We clearly specified before our games that we’d like to keep quiet about it, no matter how it went.
From what I’ve understood, some of the Apex team members bragged about after those games (check out that mature and modest behaviour), leading in pretty much the whole community knowing about them, and mentionning those all over the place as if it was a fact : Apex beat Monks 2-1 on NA servers, hence Apex is better than Monks, that kind of jazz. Blu even mentionned it in front of 2k viewers on the ToL NA semi-finals stream yday etc.

Don’t get me wrong, people can say and think what they want, but referring to training sessions they should never have heard of in the first place to rate a team, especially considering the latency issues, is infuriating and unfair.

We, as a team, agree, and I’m sure you will understand, can not abide such a disrespectful approach. As such, while it saddens us, we will not scrim Apex in the future, unless we’re provided with sufficient, honest explanations and apologies.

It is the warrior class in general which is broken. It doesnt matter for me if you take 1 or 2 warriors but warrior is so broken that teams without one dont stand a chance.

They are the main reason why foefire is over when mid is capped and they are the main reason why average games take 15 minutes now.

Sure, with mesmers, you can at least outdamage hambows from a distance but in the mean time you need to let them cap the points. Same is true for engineers (which are useless in teamfights anyways). And this is also just true for hambows. Against the cheesy axe/sword + longbow build no one can really compete (wtf…same damage as hambow + 5x torment + 5xconfusion+ 6-10k eviscerates). In addition this class is so kittening easy to learn because there is no punishment. Missing eviscerate ? Doesnt matter because cooldown is way to short and adrenalin is not consumed. This class has too much heavy burst attacks, which can let you drop from 100- 40% with 1 attack, that there must be punishment, especially when your utilities make you that tanky, even with berserk amulet.

In the end I think that it doesnt matter if you have 1 or 2 (not double hambow but 1x hambow 1x"condi"berserk) warriors but you need them in your comp. And patches in the past have proven that this “balance” patch will change nothing. Especially because rangers, engineers, necros are already kittened and didn’t receive any kind of buff (so that they are viable in competitive tpvp – I am not talking about solo q). In exchange we got the next level ele bunker just to make sure that games are even more boring to watch and harder to turn. Currently everything seems to direct into a non condi meta due to heavy condition immunity or condi cleanse (warrior, guard, ele) and this is also beneficial for direct damage classes without condi cleanses (thief, mesmer).

Edit: Wow to the warrior fanboy above me. The reason is because with the right team comp (e.g mesmer thief combo) you can still burst warriors quite easily. In addition buffs+heal from guardian are crucuial for teamfights. You need high mobility from thieves for fast decap of the enemies homepoint (or any other). Mesmer portal is always nice to have espicially when the mesmer dont have to deal with overwhelming condis (which he is prone to). Ele can bunker against classes which the warriors is weak against and in return he is not completley useless in teamfights due to might stacking. And tbh for average tpvp I think a 5 man warrior team would work and bring you at least to top100.

Everyone who is thinking warrior is not completly broken should be slapped in the face. There is currently just a minor outplay potential (due to range) against warriors.

If you get hit by burning field you take way too much damage for a field that covers more than a node, if you then get hit by longbow 3 you are almost dead. The pindown animation is still not reliable dodgeable and even it would be you currently have to dodge so much stuff (longbow f1, 3, 5 ; Eviscerate or Hammer stun; Torment stacks or Hammer stun chain) + every animation looks almost the same … there are not enough dodges in a capture node based game for that kitten (and we currently have a lot of vigor uptime).

I still vote for a 1/3 loss of adrenalin if they miss there f1 skillshots. This class is already so easy to learn that there is just a minor gap between noobs and professionals. In addition it shouldnt be that a class misses e.g. a 9k skillshot and 5 sec after that they get the next try.

So fix warrior by:
-Removing torment stacks from offhand or lower stacks/duration substantially
- Punish missing skillshot especially on hammer and axe
- Decrease radius of longbow f1 or decrease burning duration
- Improve pin-down animation especially on asuras
- Reduce berserker stance duration to 6 seconds or let blinds go through

Don’t get me wrong. Warriors may not be the best 1vs1 class (okay the axe/sword+longbow build is kittening strong) but espcially in teamfights they outsustain and in the sametime outdamage (especially due to shortbow) other classes so easily that they are a must in a teamcomp.

Engineer are good in solo q but not in competitive play. As Super already said the problem is the sustain. If you want to have good utilities, no other class can offer, you give up stunbreakers.

In addition you have classes with alot of condi cleanse or even condi immunity.
In combination with the high stability uptime the former best 2v2 3v3 class became mediocre (you simply cant stand on the note if there is a warrior around) because engi was always a little bit tricky in large scale fights

But the real problem I think is that engis are the only class with a real hardcounter in the game. Everybody know what happened to Mesmers in SD thief meta and that is exactly the same for engi’s since necro’s got buffed.

I mean that is not a problem in soloq because you dont get focused so hard but in competitve play you just run away for chasing mesmers and thieves and which can pressure you from distance and if you get caught by a fear, pindown or hammer stun you are almost dead. That’s making engi a still good 1vs1 class (you can beat every class except necros) but already at 2vs2’s you come out on the short and because there are better options available.

I like the idea of showing builds apart from the decap engi, but tbh that build is nowhere near viable. It maybe was back in the early days of PVP but the only thing you have proven is, that you are able to kill people in your elo range. If you progress you will see how easily you can be outplayed.
Also the pressure you create with this build is nowhere near as effective as for example the teldo bomb build. It sometimes look like you just dont watch your enemy. You spam your skills and you are too busy with yourself that you cant react to what your opponent is doing. And the tip with the clerics amulett is not good either – Since this is a damage oriented build you need condition damage and with clerics you are just a worse version of a decap engenieer.

Dont get me wrong. I like the idea of creating videos and have fun playing the game. But especially the part where you laughed about the thief wasn’t very nice and I am sure that there are still a lot of people out there, which could easily do the same with you.

Seriously what prestige. A r70 player is not generally better than a r60 or r55 player. Team Paradigm were not the highest ranked players and still destroyed every other team with almost twice as much time played. Car Crash is also just about r58 on average and still beat the NA Team 3:0 at PAX despite they were about 10 ranks higher.

And some of the players here gained r70 after the glory amount was increased. Sorry but that took away a lot of prestige that title originally had.

Actually r70 doesnt even show that you spent the most time in the game since these ridicoulus glory changes, skyhammer, bugs and so on.

Edit: But I agree that the rewards a r55 players and a r70 player should be at least the same when the patch goes live on april 15th.

Giving the best rewards to highest ranked people would be like giving every nerd kiddy a Challenger title in LoL just because it played the game long enough.

Actually I am more shocked by the fact that winning an hotjoin match gives almost the same rewards as winning a team q match.

I think you’re in the wrong genre. You might want to play a MOBA instead. This is an MMO. It rewards time spent. And if ranks don’t mean anything, why is anyone objecting to infinite ranks? They don’t mean anything right? Everyone’s happy!

This game wants to be competitive and in a competitive game you dont get the “best” rewards just because spent the most time in the game. World of Warcraft is also a MMO and still you have to be one of the best to get the best rewards…you can spent as much time as you want in the arena – if you suck you will not progress. This is the ONLY you will create both a long-term motivation and an esports “hype”.

Before these changes everyone was complaining that rank means nothing and that there are better r15 than r50. Now they change it and everyone is complaining (especially the r70+ skyhammer farmers) that rank means everything and that “old veterans” should be rewards for their effort. Dont get me wrong, I am currently r61 and reached 55 even before the skyhammer kitten and that mainly just through tourneys but i didnt play because i wanted to reach a new rank level. My main motivations were to become better and especially to progress in the OLD paid system with gems. So if players should be rewarded than those who did succeed in these tourneys because everyone can become r50/60+ in hotjoin in a couple of weeks.

Nothing will change unless Arenanet developers realise that they are bad players. They are not meant to be testers, this should always be done by better players. Seeing Karl dying to an PVP NPC or realising that Allie Murdock is still r14 after 1 1/2 year (no allie wvw is not pvp its zerging!) and steadily increase of rank points just confirm that these guys should not have the right to judge what is unbalanced and whats not.
Unless they not give the best players (if they are some around) the opportunity to enter the Alpha Server and let them fight until something is real balanced this game will stay dead forever.

I watched yesterdays Ready up and all it leaves is dissapointment. The new game is a simple map without a capture point….but yeah just make it as beautiful as possible because that is what pvp’ers care about…colored bushes. I remember they mentioned that making a pvp map is not that sophisticated…now they made a map were they dont even have to consider capture points. That is not a new game mode, thats just bullkitten.
And since it is bound to hotjoin nothing will change and spare your breath when you want to tell me again that there are “more things to come soon”.

Beloved developers your selfish behaviour and management decisions are the main reason why this game failed to be comptetive.

If you are able to dodge while immobilised some stuff should also be considered. For example S/D Thiefs have access to incredible dodge chains. A change like this would be a buff to a still viable build, which dominated the meta some month ago. Also some classes rely on immobilise in order to hit their skills. I would rather see immobilise not be stackable anymore actually than that your are able to dodge while immobilise (considering that some skillshot can already be used to evade like ranger shortbow 3, thief dodge heal etc.)

There was a balance preview in january and yet still no changes happen. Seriously what are you guys doing the whole time? I mean I dont get the point why you make a preview for a patch which probably comes june 2015.
You guys want to be taken serious but this kitten is just hillarious. The game is broken since summer last year and you do nothing – I mean nothing. And now you tell your community that they have to wait even longer. You promised big changes but the only thing you do is remove even more stuff from the game…GG. Even during beta there was more motivation to play this game than right now. But yeah just do more and more finishers because that is what the game needs.

Back in PAX days someone told me that management of Arenanet (US) wants to focus even more on PVE and that this lead to a big argument between Arenanet US and EU, turns out that the headquarter won.

This is not true since they also introduce that every sigil has its own cooldown. So there are no shared CD’s anymore.

Here an example:
You switch to weapon set A: Sigil 1 + 2 proc —> Wait 5 sec —> switch to weapon set B: Sigil 3+4 proc —> wait 5 sec —> Switch to weapon set A: Sigil 1+2 proc.

In this case the internal CD is irrelevant. But I guess not 1 Arenanet developer could see that coming.

Hahaha was the first think I scared when i heared about this horrible change and even if they nerf all sigils warriors will always have an advantage over other classes because the sigil nerfs effects all classes…

An engi or ele are not in a better spot because the sigils have internal cooldowns and proc only every 9 sec + they can utilise only 2 sigils. Warrior can equip 4 and thus will always have the upper hand.

However, fits into everything arenanet is doing since release in order to destroy the game. Nerfing the most kittened class of the past 8 month by….. buffing it. Only works in the mysterious world of Jonathan Sharp and Karl MClain.

Up to this point warriors didnt have much dodges…I’ll promise that after this patch is going live sigil of energy will be abused even more simply because there is no drawback, when you can combine it with everything you want.

Because they are so good in fixing stuff that a bug known since beta can still be abused. Just like ele’s fiery greatsword, the blind powder+ warrior steal combination of thieves or rangers rezz spirit bug.

Get over it they still pretend to do something for pvp with useless CDI’s but just look when they did the last balance patch, then look when they did a preview and now think about it that it still takes more than a month to bring it.

This forum was so full of rage between january and june 2013, now its quite and not because everyone is satisfied but because no one is left.

GG Arenanet. You successfully accomplished to destroy any competition in your game. But do just tons of stupid bugfixes on the pve side, while bugs like this exist during beta and had been reported thousands of times.

Ahahahaha they deleted my fail post despite it is completly true.

What have they done in the past 2+ months? Instead of balancing the game they come over with ideas to mess up the game even more.

No one cares about sigil changes…instead of asking players you do that kitten and then you wonder why everyone is kittened. I mean 2 months is a lot of time to change a number (8% nerf hurray that will solve all our problems — NOT …). I promise that the sigil changes will mess up the meta even more.

And then we can wait another 2++ months until we get the next dissapointing “balance” patch….Seriously these 3 changes for each class will do nothing….So instead of doing useless kitten you could start to work….And my gosh finally do hotfixes also for pvp…after every patch there are 5 smaller patches who fix the kitten another department had done. Did that happen for pvp just a single time? NO! And you guys wonder why this game is a massive fail on twitch…

So dont call that patch a balance preview because these changes are so minor, I really wonder what you have done the last couple months.

Rofl … these suggestions in the current meta are hillarious. There are only 2 maybe 3 thing that currently should be nerfed
1) Automated response
2) Incediary power
3) Elite

Regards 2) Your suggestion is not really smart. This will contribute kit builds (which are already in a good place) while others will completly fall behind. This will shrink build diversity to a minimum.

Regards Healing turret) This is 1 of the worst suggestions I’ve ever heard. This might kill all engi builds. One have to consider that healing on engi is devided into 3 steps:
1) Placing turret
2) Overload
3) Pick up turret
Or is NA so smart and let the turret always explode? All together it takes already about 3/4 sec. Increasing just the first part would make this heal almost useless. In the current meta (stuns all over the place) this would be so bad. The complete cast time would be higher than the one of signet of resolve.
Remember Necros can already 1shot you with conditions. Sometimes you are luck and survive due to the short cd and cast time of your heal – This wouldnt be become even more difficult.

It is right that you should be critical with your own class and dont think that you rule every player because you are so skilled. However, in the current meta there is only 1 build which is completly over the top – The bunker engi, and that is due to automated response and maybe turret knockbacks.

It’s not mindless i use reason.People keep spamming their kitten comparing healing skills between them and never taking into consideration class mechanics and other sources of sustain other classes have wich make me think everyone else including yourself are just hardcore pvers that ocasinally get wrecked in spvp.

I told you ones I will tell you twice…Warriors is a kittening sustain beast.
If it would just be the signet but there is also at least 16 sec of stability , 8 sec of coniditon immunity, 5 sec of direct damage immunity, chain stun on hammer, condi remove on longbow, kittening heavy burning on longbow but also huge direct damage with longbow 4, nearly instant immobilise with pindown.

The healing signet is just the tip of the iceberg of that class but if you dont believe me because i am not famous enough for you check this:

1 second of poison on a guard during heal (shelter= most common heal and pretty average regards the amount of heal):
4555*0,45=2049,75 that the guardian looses effectively
CD=30seconds

If you try to troll do it right.

A guard or a andrenal health warrior can just cleanse the poison and then heal resulting in zero healing reduction.Only bad players heal with poison on

1/10 for the try.

So first you try to tell me that poison is a hard counter for warriors and then you wanna teach my that only bad players don’t cleanse poison. Not to mention that active heals have a cast time. Healing signet is superior to any other heal in the game – Dont know why you still refuse it.
Really I didn’t wanted to play this card but arguing with players that are not even on the leaderboards (which currently just means they dont play PVP) is so annoying .

You really have problems understanding do you ? While everyone can just remove the poison BEFORE it heals a warrior using HS will have that healing forever lost because you cannot always cleanse poison at the first second.

Oh yeah and thats totally fine. I will give you another example
Healing through healing signet with 100% poison uptime (expecting the active heal of the compared class has 30s cd)
392*0,66*30sec= 7760hp

Healing of Shelter:
4555hp

So even with 100% uptime of poison the warrior heals 4.5k more compared to a Guard. And you think guard is the only one lets check ranger

Healing spring:
4920hp

Ele:
Glyph of elemental harmony
5872hp

etc etc.

and this comparison would just be the case if the mentioned classes would heal exactly after 30 sec…if they heal a little bit later the gap becomes bigger and bigger. And not to mention the base health of alot of these classes is almost 10k hp lower than the one of the warrior.

I know its not all about the heals because alot of classes have additional utilities but the warrior utilities are also far beyond balanced -> 2 stunbreakers with 1) 5sek direct damage immunity and 2) 10 sec stability + berserker stance with additional 8 sec condit immunity.

Sorry bro but maths outplays you.

@ Mini : Show me a warrior with poison uptime for longer than 10 sec …they have one of the best condi cleanses in the entire game.

@ Deimos+Mini: Always the same players who defend kitten traits and broken utilities. You are probably the guys who loose against other classes because you are not able to tap the full potential of the OP classes and then you are worried that you will loose even more fights because finally your class is in line with the other ones.

And FYI poison gets nerfed in the next patch…Thus it becomes even better to fight a warrior, which cleanses conditions like it would be nothing (shortbow spamming + lyssa runes ftw). And ofc its not true that on top of the healing signet he has berserker stance and sometimes endure pain. Every warrior who dies to a spike at the beginning of the fight is just dumb as kitten. And in the middle of the fight alot of players already used their CDs.
Srsly should up trolling and accept that you just defend mindless nooby gameplay. Have you ever seen what happened when guardians Signet of resolve is activated under poison? It worth nothing.

And @ Deimos: “Countinous burst damage” Rofl did you even read that? First, this phrase is contrary (because either its a burst or not) and second every class dies when it gets pressured by 5 people – The problem is that the warrior is just using his immunity traits and the enemy team is on cd…gg. Not to mention bunker warriors with passive regeneration higher than what my burning ticks for.

I don’t see endure pain/zerk stance as comparable to AR. Those skills have a time limit and a longish CD. They are also (mostly) activated abilities so there is a degree of player skill involved.

Its not like the sustain of warriors due to healing signet is already crazy like kitten. Remember that Berserker stance also blocks blinds, thus it is 20x harder to kite a warrior, which can kill for example an engenieer (w/o AR) in a pindown+ stun chain. The Warrior can make couple of mistakes and will still win, not to mention what happens if you face a skilled warrior.
And engis still have a decent chance against warriors…just look at mesmers – From a whole shatter a warrior drops maybe 20-25% while 1 hit with the hammer or shortbow puts the mesmer in serious danger. So please dont refer to warrior when it comes to skill…this class has no high risk high rewards.

However this thread is about Automated response…which is is a free ticket against condi classes. I know that it is still possible to kill the engi but it becomes substantially more difficult when this trait is used.

no, this trait is working as intended.
you have problem taking out an engineer with 25% health remaining?
bring a friend who deal non condition burst damage.

guild wars 2 is a team game.

Wouldnt say anything but this guy will fullcap you with the CC he has. And since Engis relies I would rather see automated response go than the CC…

and regards rock paper scissors: Engi is like you need rock and paper to kill the scissors…so not a good example.

Not to mention bursting down an engi (with automated response) without dhuumfire is really really hard. You really need that burning proc for this :/

A necro having trouble killing an engi? Lol, this guy…

Get some knowledge first, and then talk . . .

Everything except bunker kitten engi with lame trait is breakfast for necros. I refuse to use automated response and cant do a kitten against good necros.

Also one has to say that the engi cant kill the necro either… its a bunker.

Take Diamond-Skin, Berserker-Stance and the rest of hard-counters with it.

I agree or at least berserker stance should work like shield block, so that the warrior cannot attack during this time. This traits are gamechangers, a total noob can win against experienced players just due to that.
In a 1vs1 between engi/necro and an ele with diamond skin there is no chance that the first two classes can win. In such a scenario diamond skin is even more powerful compared to automated response. Something like this shouldnt be the game.

This is not rock, paper, scissor. (In whcih the warrior would be the swiss pocket knife)

Hello,

before one engi starts to complain about the meta. I am an engi too and I am annoyed by the “so called” skilled players who just rely on that one trait. They drop from 100 to 20 in less than 15 seconds and then the decap kitten start. They eat everything you throw on them, but as a condition class you dont have enough condis to cover your burning thus they wont go down before a condi cleanse is up.

This trait is in line with:
- The warrior class in general (Anet 8% are not enough….or atleast cut the damage)
- Necro fear chain

Make engi immune to CC below 25% health or that we have a 50% reduced condition duration but this 1 trait carriers an entire build.

This class must be nerfed so that not even the stupiest hotjoiner will ever think about picking a warrior for the next 3 years. The meta is apsolutely bullkitten – bow spamming and hammer jumping warriors everywhere. I am thick of this kittens, who spam immunity skills like smarties…they should dissapear for a very long time sooner than later.

as i do remember the ‘old’ pvp’ers did receive gems.

Actually this was a very short period of about 3 months and if you remember right the entrance also cost tickets. So you had to come to foefire in order to make profit. Since this time there was absolutly no income for pvp’ers.

/Bump – Devs need to see this and due to the low population I really beleave that this will not affect economy at all
