The only story instance designed for a party was Migraine mode. All others are actually balanced for solo players. It may be easier with more than 1 player, that doesn’t mean it was designed/balanced for more than 1 player.
The hard hitting attacks from Justiciar Adrienne are pretty well telegraphed. It’s more timing things right that makes or breaks this instance.
Atleast Taimi is showing loyalty to Poobah with the greater problems, the problems which actually mean life or death on Tyria. Yes, it’s great that we don’t have to kill the dragons and they’re setting the game up for a multitude of other stories to come and go that don’t revolve around Elder Dragons (find dragon, kill dragon, rinse repeat would get very boring).
Kasmeer disappeared for reasons we don’t really know yet. (one can assume it is queens business on her path back to nobility)
Marjory jumped ship with ‘Lazarus’, and has shown disparity with the commander with what little dialogue she’s had.
Braham, has strayed the furthest, absolutely resenting the commander, even though in HoT finale he’s right by your side to kill Mordy, his ‘revenge’ for his mothers death should have ended there. It’s this character that bothers me. But I think it is set up for Braham to die in a blaze of glory.
Rox, well, follows Braham like a shadow. She’s always done what she thought was right though, she’s an anchor for Braham.
So given that, Taimi has a lot to fill at the moment. Story direction, comic relief, knowledge. I really like Taimi. When she was first introduced to now, I love her development, and can’t wait for Ep6 and beyond.
I’ve played 1 match this season, to try and get back into playing this PvP again after being an avid PvP’er in the early years, to slowly dwindle down to a casual PvP’er due to numerous reasons ranging from IRL, ingame problems, and lack of map/gamestyle variety (and to see exactly what some complaints were about.)
We were 20pts ahead at 430-410, DH pulls me into the wall. I could either A ) stay there or B ) relog. We lost the game, we could definitely have won it had the DH not PURPOSEFULLY bugged my character into the map textures.
I logged out. I wont try again until these wall bugs are fixed. They are being exploited, and offenders should be punished.

They wont, because Anet intended for the new Legendaries to be account bound.
“The methods by which you’ll craft these legendary weapons are similar to the existing system, but we’ve refined it into more of a journey, similar to precursor crafting. We also want to better preserve the prestige associated with crafting a legendary weapon, so the new legendary weapons, and their precursors, will not be tradable.” ~ Here

I’d like to also add in a lot of different lighting now, the Quicksilvering effect on armor is now a matte effect, this is noticeable is Shiverpeaks zones, rather than shiny.
It is also far darker in a lot of zones than it used to be.
Can we just get a high shine/bright silver back, with tints of colour instead. What it is now is very lacklustre! (pun intended!)
Making them stack faster might be a solution but would be a problem for sPvP. Having them stack slower leaves them balanced in sPvP but leaves them weak in PvE.
In sPvP (before stacking sigils and many other sigils were removed) killing a foe would add 5 stacks. So you would only need 5 player kills to get 25 in sPvP.
In all fairness, runes and sigils could do with a major overhaul, but that is for another topic.
I pugged all of them in the LFG.
I finished Ad Infinutum a few days ago, it’s taken me about 3 weeks (I already had 1 book and a few pages, you need 4 Research books, 28 pages, and can get a maximum of 4 pages per day)
A lot of the challenge ones, I did when they’re up for dailies/daily rec, I asked when zoned in if I could do the -80% challenge mote. No one said no.

Don’t buy it?
I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s definitely very Asuran in name and appearance.
We’ve lots of ‘advanced’ science themed skins for armor, weapons and gathering tools.
I believe it is my mouse’s problem but I don’t want to get a new one for a such a miniscule problem, ArenaNet could fix this by allowing a toggle so the camera and character follow where the mouse goes like when holding down right click however instead of holding down you would press right click once to activate it then press it again to turn it off so you could use the cursor. This would fix the issue without people having to buy a new mouse.
This thread is 1+year old…
Just a buy a new mouse. The problem is your hardware wear and tear (as you’ve just said), nothing to do with Anet.
If you want the camera to follow your mouse movement, use action camera.
I can’t believe I’ve read a suggestion so you don’t have to replace a worn mouse
Pretty sure it’s to do with in-game adverts that happened during PvP esl tournaments, HoT beta events and the like. Many complained about the unremovable ads for it in the top right, near event notifications/story steps, and loading screens.
If I understood it these are given out in the final reward track chest.
No. Ascended Shards of Glory have never been awarded at the end of reward tracks. They are in each tier of the League tier end chests.
Player’s that have done long running pvp before this would get more than me.
Well, yeah. Of course they will have more if they’ve played more than you and progressed more than you. That is normal.
If you are trying to get credit for the next tier League Conqueror before finishing the entire tier you’re on, it wont happen. Pre-requisite is to finish the entire tier, to be able to start on the next tier for this achievement.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Whack on every xp booster you can and do Dragon Stand. I got 2mil xp doing 1 event cycle this way.
Fractals and dungeons are best for core masteries.
Ascended shards of Glory are earned in PvP League chests. Not reward tracks.
If you play, you earn. They’ve only ever been in the League chests. Therefore, no retroactive rewarding is needed. It’s not neccessary even if they did drop from reward tracks.
You will still need to craft Ascended Grandmaster Marks to purchase the Ascended armor, it is a tiny discount on direct crafting, so you will still need time and gold to get it.
Edit: Clarity

Some guild missions are very easy with 2-3 people (Easy WvW requires minimum of 3 people though)
The easy and medium treks are doable with 3 people, easy trek definitely doable with 1 person, I do it solo a lot, and the easy bounty with 2+ people is definitely doable.
The guild claiming, once you’ve gotten the 150 Favour+ 100 Gold (posts above seem to have forgotten you need favour from guild missions before you can start guild hall claim process) needed to start the process might want a few more people depending on how well you guys play the game. Some have solo’d guild claims before, but many post in LFG looking for more to help out.

“Play their way” … “Play the way you want” …
I remember those phrases people quoted from Anet, they mean you can get the relevant gear how you want to play. And we can, we can craft/purchase Ascended armour and weapons from all game modes, you can purchase/earn Exotics in all game modes too.
That’s what play how you want means. It does not mean you can beg for Legendary skins without doing the content.Who is begging to get Legendary skins?
The original post? “Why should I be forced to do a part of the game I don’t want to do to get my legendary short bow?” Where have you been.
I’ve been in the “I know what that sentence actually says” camp thanks. LOL
The whole OP was asking for new MP’s so they don’t have to do the content required to obtain a legendary, even though there is an abundance of MP’s now.
Now we’re back to what is considered required to play (relevant gear earned in all game modes, real ‘play your way’), and added ‘extras’ which aren’t neccessary to play (skins). Let’s get that distinction. Is there any point to having unique rewards in each game mode? Yes, it draws players to it. That’s the point. That is the point of the new legendaries. Why PvP and WvW have unique Ascended/Exotic skins to earn only in their modes.
Plenty of games do this. It’s basic enticement, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

are your server linked with any other server?
It may be outnumbered for your linked server but not urs mate.
Out numbered is a map status. Server linking has squat to do with it.

If I want Gold Fractal Skins, I go do Fractals.
If I want Ardent Glorious Skins, I PvP.
If I want a Legendary, I do the requirements
The skins are the optional content which does not prevent you from playing the game.
So tired of those phrases being tossed around like they’re law.
The Daily League Participator doesn’t require you to finish the entirety of the previous meta achievement, only it’s previous League participator.
League Dominator, however “Prerequisite: Finish Your Ascension” – “Complete the meta-achievement Path of Ascension III: Monument of Legends.”
You have to have finished the tier 3 achievements entirely to progress this.
Could they please release a relevant legendary weapon like longbow or sword, not warhorn or something irrelevant.
I need a non-flower dropping longbow for my warrior.
Doesn’t relevance depend what you play? I always use a warhorn for my Ele, or a focus for Ele and Mesmer. They will all be released in time.
Saying it’s irrelevant because you don’t use it as much doesn’t mean it’s actually irrelevant.
As many tomes as I have, I don’t mind them in the daily chest.
My biggest gripe is the Essence of luck. This stuff is salvaged from everything, it does not need to be in the daily log in chest. I’d much rather have a selectable bag of crafting materials (t1-6) or mystic coins in their place.
There was nothing wrong with how participation could be earned/kept. There’s surely a better way to prevent pip farmers (rewards wont apply if you’ve been ‘Determined’ buffed for 1 minute?)
This is precisely the chaos you get when tying pips, to a previous reward system. It will not work as long as pips are rewarded per tick, but by real activity, this would also eliminate afk pip farmers.
Did you mean Core Tyria Mastery Points?
Both. You need the core Tyria crafting masteries, but you also need Itzel, Nuhoch, Exalted and Gliding masteries maxed out to buy stuff for Gift of Insights for HoT legendaries.
If people don’t want to go out of their comfort zone to earn things that’s their problem, not the games. Mastery points are not excessively difficult to get, you just have to do something specific.

Instead of casually swimming around losing the match you can /stuck and not touch/do anything to respawn. If you keep getting in combat you can log to character select and relog back into the same character to land at spawn. You only get dishonour if you take longer than 1 minute to load, or, actually queue decline/disconnect (intentionally or not) a lot.
Yes, wallbugs should be eliminated, but there’s 2 things ^ you could have done to remedy the issue.

I agree Hyper Cutter. Points we now get for content is a joke compared to what we used to get.
Guys, the caps have been in place since day one. How many other significant pieces of the game have been in place since day one?
No it wasn’t, it was introduced in March 2014 for the April 2014 Feature pack.
Chances are we’ll never get a reason for the cap.
Taken from March 2013 patch, this is probably the reason for the daily cap too;
“The point amounts obtainable from existing repeatable achievements have been capped as follows: Hobby Dungeon Explorer–200 points; Agent of Entropy–250 points. This change was made to support competitive PvE leaderboards and to lay the groundwork for a reward structure for total achievement points that is coming in a future update.”
And well, the only people that take the AP leaderboard seriously are the ones sat right at the top.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I actuall aimed for the masteries I needed to complete the Elite Weapon collections first, stealth gliding, Exalted gathering and Nuhoch stealth detection.
After that, I maxed out gliding and pact commander first.
I would rather not feel obligated to log in every day to progress my point rewards from achievements. Capping this prevents that, but also timegates not just how high you get in AP reward chests, but slows it down eventually.
I’ve not seen any definitive explanation of why there is a cap, but I’d rather the daily cap stay.
However, I’m all for reintroducing a Monthly achievement again, that doesn’t have a cap. This would quell the first point I made.
I don’t think there’s even a need to discuss the skin rewards past Pinnacle and the back items. Just add a Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock as an uncommon drop in each 5k Heavy Achievement chest, plus Laurels/Gold reward.

Conquest is stale boring, Stronghold was poorly executed, in my opinion.
There’s too much spam damage, not enough thought to make the game interesting, too much sustain, too much damage flying absolutely everywhere. It’s just dull, you can pretty much predict every match.
Basically I’m bored of this game mode in Gw2. No variety in maps (90% of the time on selection it’s either Forest or Foefire, Thrilling), no variety in objectives (Capture the Flag, Time Trial Warfare, Courtyards new mechanic is ok, now add that as a 3v3 and develop on it.), build variety is a little better, but still not great.
The only difference between the Masterwork, Rare and Exotic versions of this rune is the cooldown. Obviously the lower the cooldown, theoretically, more often the blast.
Yeah, that is what i thought. So if i take the Rare i have neither the most expensive one or the slowest.
I know the difference in price isn’t too big with the Fire ones but looking at Air for example, it’s almost 3,5 gold per Sigil for a difference of 2 seconds.
I thought there was something else i missed. Thanks
Sigil of Air works differently though, it has a higher damage coefficient than fire and the damage dealt is also affected by all non-crit modifiers. So with Air it is worth the Exotic sigil, to have it proc as often as possible.

All races have the exact same hitbox, they just have different visual sizes. In Competative PvP you can also set all enemy models to use a human default model, for easy recognition.
As for why you would go Norn over Human? Depends on what you’re after and how much you care about flair such as “Lore” and “Fantasy”.
Male Norn are big and lumbering, so they -feel- slower than other races while running about even if they aren’t. I’m personally not a big fan of their Sword Animations, but their Axe Animations are better than Human ones. Female Norn aren’t very different from humans (Save for the fact that their running animations as well as GS/Staff animations are more powerful) and feel less sluggish than male Norn as a result.
Lorewise, I guess it’s if you wanna play a Viking-inspired berserker/raider/warrior archetype (in which case, Norn is your go-to) or a budding Adventurer/Knight archetype (In which case, Humans work better).
There’s also the part about the voice, since each race only has one VA. Humans will sound like a 20-something, young and rogue-ish adventurer both as male or female, while Norn will have much deeper voice befitting their size. (Though the Female Norn isn’t to many people’s liking due to a lack of investment, she sounds very bored and sheepish a lot of the time.)
Aside from that, there’re Cultural Armors that only the race can wear. Humans get different sets of Chainmail and Plate Armors more befitting knights, while Norn get furs and metals in a mix that looks straight out of the Viking Age.
I’ve done some research and i have not seen this changing all enemies to a certain race setting so far and I hope it is real.
It’s called Standard Enemy Models. Its under Combat/movement > competitive if I recall correctly.
As said, all player hitboxes are the same size, there is no race advantage in game.

You don’t own any part of the game. You will not stop passing players joining in an event because you want to do something solo. The whole basis of the game is teamwork, regardless whether you like that or not.
There’s no reason for this behaviour at all when you can test on the raid golem which is semi-customizable for different situations, or you can go into your own instance for say Arah, and test a build solo there.
I’m personally very picky about my armour combos., which is why I rarely change my characters look aside from different helms.
I don’t like to use full sets of things (I find that boring). I don’t like skirts at all, I’ve had to grin and bare them on my light armor users, using mainly just Illustrius, Human tier 3 or Primitive (necro only). Luckily, my other characters have no full skirting or very little (Norn heavy tier 3 legs/Whisper’s Secret. Sneak thief, Carapace legs, Charr Trapper cultural chest, these pieces are my faves because they have some nice details but not overly extravagant and the medium legs have no skirting at all!)
I like to include detailed shoulders/gauntlets because some combos needs a bit of oomph.
I’d love for some Town Clothes looking sets, which are just basic tops/trousers/skirts (Norn female town clothes had trousers though, which suited me fine since Norns are my favourite)
Ornate looking sets are ok but if that ornate set has a massive skirt on it, it detracts the appeal for me. I’d love some trousers for light armour that doesn’t have skirting!

This guy was in WvW way more than 1-2 hours and still had those buffs. He was running non stop around YB keep and no one could kill him no matter how many attacked him.
They only work in Fractals of The Mists, so him having these pots up is pointless.
Unless they are bugged somehow. I would test, but I’m not able to log in right now.
There was a poll, prior to season 5, and the votes favoured limiting Ranked to duo-queue only.
The potions last 1-2hrs. Probs did some fractals before stepping into WvW. They don’t function in WvW, but they can’t be removed, they’re on timers.
Yes I really hate that A-Net is forcing me to do achievements that I care nothing about and don’t really want to do. Not including enough Mastery points on the HoT maps themselves to finish all the masteries is a bad decision on their part. In order to get the last 12 mastery points I need to finish the last mastery I have to do achievements, and I do not like doing achievements. Why should I be forced to do a part of the game I don’t want to do to get my legendary short bow? A-Net please I know you can find challenging ways to add more mastery spots on the maps themselves so those of us who don’t like do the achievements don’t have to. It is like telling every play you must do raids or you must play wvw or pvp. Let us play our way.
Do you mean, perhaps, Activities?
I believe there are an excess of Mastery Points to attain; more than enough to finish all Mastery Tracks, with several left over.
Since they are talking about a legendary short bow Im not sure but I guess its map completing?
Or they need to get more mastery points in core tyria to unlock legendary crafting maybe.
In order to buy the 4 parts for Gift of Insights you need to fully learn Gliding, Itzel, Nuhoch and Exalted masteries.
If legendaries were easy to obtain , everyone would have them all. I personally don’t play and achievement hunt. But no mastery point was excessively difficult to obtain.
Power of the Mists was applied to all players on a server, regardless if you participated in WvW or not (which is highly unfair). I’d like it back, but only for people who actively play WvW.
The custom arena nerf was very much needed. Those daily rooms were the PvP equivalent of PvE afk farming.
A message from the PvP team:
We have received many reports this season about match manipulation both here on the forums and via in-game reports. Our investigation revealed that a few players were sharing a handful of accounts, which is clearly against our User Agreement.
While the investigation into this is still ongoing, at this time we have enough evidence to take action. As a result, we’ve decided to give dishonor to the offending accounts for the rest of the season. As our investigation continues, further action may be taken should we feel it appropriate.
So these players and their manipulation accs’ are getting Season length Dishonour for sharing accounts to enable ease of Manipulation. Are they being punished for violating the UA, or for the manipulation? One would assume for both but reading this, if these players Manipulated without sharing accounts (like many other players who queue dodge/sync), will they also be investigated?
Correct. League tickets are capped per season.
You can always farm gold and buy them from the trading post. Tarir is still good money as is Silverwastes. Fractal Tier 4 dailies also yeild good gold return (Plus rarely unID’d dyes in the daily chests.)
These also drop in specific map as a bonus reward, you can read about that here .
PvP league rewards unID’d dyes (1 each tier with 2 in the end tier chest)
WvW skirmish rewards, in the Skirmish chest you can select unID’d dyes.
As for tier 6 materials, if you don’t have your 77 mystic clovers yet, do them and you should have more than enough t6. If you do have your clovers, it’s another case of farm gold and buy off tp.
Don’t buy t6 material bags with laurels, the gold return is worse. Buy tier 4 to sell and purchase t6 with the extra gold.
I think I’m missing something here. Badges are just a currency that already go directly into our wallet, aren’t they . . ?
Badges you pick from Skirmish Chests (20/chest) have to be clicked individually to add to the wallet.
Thanks for the update! Glad to see this will change soon.
Absolutely not. This fractal is based off old Living Story and would not make sense if changed. Fractals are explorable chunks of reality in Tyria, whether past or alternate.
The job of fractals is to be good repeatable content. S1 was never designed with repetition in mind. Things that work as a one time novelty don’t always work as something you are going to do over and over. Gameplay and fun come before “historical accuracy” any day.
Gameplay and fun is subjective.
Can I repeat this fractal in as much time as any other fractal? Yes.
Do I enjoy this fractal? Yes, I think many who played LS1 enjoy this fractal and the others because of it’s historical accuracy, we absolutely need more of these fractals. It would accomplish variety in scale content but also bridge the gaps between Personal Story – LS2.
Given my initial post, some fractals could do with tweaks, other more visuals to explain a mechanic, but I’d much rather have new fractals any day.
1- Agree. It’s tedius, the initial mobs add nothing because 90% of them are skipped anyway. I know it’s supposed to mimic a battlefield, but it is just a total mess. As a first fractal as well, it’s not very new player friendly.
2- Switches need explaining and pathing could be adjusted to be quicker to reach, but require mobs to be killed before you can activate the first 2 switches before the Mechanical gate room.
3- I don’t find a problem with Aquatic, you have an instant ally revive skill on both paths to encourage movement as a group, use it.
4- Absolutely not. This fractal is based off old Living Story and would not make sense if changed. Fractals are explorable chunks of reality in Tyria, whether past or alternate.
5- Somewhat agree. It could be adjusted to be real boss fractal.
6- See point 4.
7- Allow skippable cinematic. See point 4.
Anet’s mentality is this: you play PvP for fun/competitiveness, you get rewards while doing it.
Those rewards are not aimed at this group of players however – they are clearly aimed at PvE. No need for ascended tier gear in sPvP after all.
That’s the problem with the reward system currently – the rewards themselves are aimed at non-sPvP players, but the method of obtaining them is balanced around those that sPvP primarily.
I think it’s actually for players who primarily enjoy either game mode.
PvE players get armour they want for Fractals/skins for fashion, they wouldn’t try PvP if it meant not earning what they would earn in PvE.
PvP players get armour they can use if they want to do fractals/raids or WvW.
Players who only play one game mode exclusively are probably the minority of the entire playerbase.People that pvp and need ascended for raids/fractals get those from…. drumroll…. raids and fractals (drops) because pvp is worst alternative for getting armor atm (coming from someone who actually raids/does fractals and has multiple geared classes). The only thing i used shards for is trinkets that is.
No one is saying the contrary. It’s always good to have options though.

The crappy part is that the ascended Glorious armor skins are quite nice, but I don’t want to have to craft the marks and other garbage for a whole suit of ascended armor just to get those skins. All of my characters have full ascended gear already, I don’t need another set. That, and being so prohibitively expensive, I’m still going to get all of the armor (at least the heavy pieces) but I’m sure as hell not going to like it.
You can just buy them as skins which only costs Ascended Shards.
It’s also worth noting this armor is intended to be a discount compared to out right crafting. (only certain pieces/stats mind you)
(Zojjas guise roughly 110g if you crafted it all yourself, compared to 85g ish, 78ish for the marks +raw gold, to buy the Ardent Glorius Brigandine)Actually if you craft the cheapest ascended stat, then swap to the stat you want it would work out at around 65-70g, which is why I said it was roughly the same or even cheaper to craft normally.
One of the cheapest stats to craft is Zintl (if you buy it on the TP), so I’ll use that as an example:
Using Gw2 Efficiency for costs, a 6 piece set, crafting Zintl armour will cost you between 350g and 450g, depending on the armour’s weight (Using your own Daily cooldowns, if you don’t use your own cooldowns, the cost is higher, 400g-500g)
Now you need to add onto that the cost of the 6 Insignias (slightly varies depending on stats, but we can ballpark it will cost 10g/Insignia due to leather and ectos),and 30 Ectoplasm (10g) to change the stats. So if you use this method, it will cost between 420g and 520g (Or 470g and 570g if you didn’t use daily cooldowns).
Example, if I crafted my own Zintl Armour for a light armoured Profession, it would cost me 405g ( +60g + 10G to change the stat) = 475g
Now, A set of Ardent armour from the vendor will cost 14g + 20 Marks of the desired weight + Both tokens.
20 Armorsmith Marks cost 348g with Daily cooldowns, 490g if you buy.
20 Tailor’s Marks cost 363g/520g.
20 Leatherworker’s Marks cost 382g/487g.
Example, if I crafted Tailor Marks to buy a Set of Ardent Glorious armor, which I can select the stat I want on, it would cost me 362g + the tokens I need.
475g or 362g?
So, you can definitely save yourself a decent amount of gold. If you still do your daily crafts of course.
The advice to stat swap was based on old information that had been outdated by patch changes. The only reason to do it previously was because fulgurite was a hassle to collect (for HoT stats), and Exotic insignias did not add any meaningful cost to the process. Neither of those statements is true any longer! (Hello overpriced Leather)
