Really? I don’t know then. It’s always been for me that I wasn’t able to rearrange a utility skill on cooldown.
Don’t know what these other people are talking about, but you are definitely correct. You couldn’t swap a skill when it was on cooldown. Cool to hear you can now!
Pretty sure it’s always been that way. Swapping utility positions on your bar, cooldown or not. You can’t swap for something not on the bar already if the skill is on cooldown, but we’ve always been able to move the positions regardless. Oo
The Marionette.
The Battle of Lions Arch.
The Breachmaker (As a boss fractal)
Since we have no idea if/when LS1 will be made replayable, we need these fractals to tell the story.
Ideal crit varies per profession, and party composition.
You optimally want 100%, but then if you are planning your build for a particular game mode, you have to deduct from that possible buffs you’ll recieve if you raid/fractal or WvW. Since overcapping is a waste.
For example, my reaper is solo roam PvE/WvW, she’s built to gain life force and stay in it as long as possible, with the 50%crit with trait, I use 50% on my gear, the trait makes up for it.
There’s probably someone who can explain it a bit better, but you basically (if you want optimal) count back from 100% to what you’ll need from your gear.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
These are looking a little bit better, but a few concerns:
/snip
- For sigils that have longer CD’s, is there any idea on how this will work with engie and ele (or warrior with fast hands), who will be 50% less efficient taking these sigils. For instance, something like a ranger can put escape and revelation on one weapon, then greater nullification and something else on the other weapon, and get 4 procs over a 20s period. Ele and engie, meanwhile, would be stuck with just 2 procs. Likewise, other on-swap effects have less control for these two classes.
/snip/snip
- The longer cooldowns are simply because we like the effect, but are just too strong for classes that have frequent access to ‘swaps’ like engie and warr. You are right in that they have much less control. However, making every sigil viable on every class/build is probably an unrealistic goal.
/snipplease also take into consideration that ele’s and engi’s only get to equip 2 sigils, while all other classes get to equip 4. there seems to be NO sigils designed specifically with ele and engi in mind, for all game modes. this would be a perfect time to make new sigils balanced around frequent swaps, (yes, fast hands warriors must be taken into consideration, too)
ALL sigils don’t need to be made viable for EVERY class/build out there, but ele’s and engi’s have less than half the variety of viability of the other classes: the on-hit/on-crit, BUT, all the others become less effective when swapping attunements / kits… essentially, a mesmer / warrior /etc swaps weapons and get a new set of sigils that have been better optimized to the new weapons, but an when an ele / engi swap elements / kits, they are stuck with sigils that are not optimized for the new element / kit.
with respect, a few new sigils should be made for ele’s / engi’s
edit: PS: examples could be sigils with weaker effects on swap due to the lower cooldowns, or maybe even sigils that alternate between 2 different effects.
another idea: new sigil SETS could be introduced, like how armour runes have bonuses for equipping multiple of the same rune set. a bacon defecient brainstorm example:
Superior Sigil of Rodgort (80):
1) on hit: apply 5s vulnerability (2s cd)
2) on swap: apply 1s burning (2s cd)
This idea, is actually amazing. But this needs to be in all game modes, not just PvP.
We have Rune sets, so sigil sets could definitely be a good addition. Some following your basis of ‘On hit + On Swap’ others utilizing ‘+X% increase + -X% Reduced’.
This could work so well.
We only get it when ESL tourneys or pro league events are up.
Should be changed IMO to apply through league seasons.
I did this story no more than a week ago again on a new character. It is definitly not bugged, I nailed it first try.
You have to run and possibly jump in the stem of the updrafts to be thrust upwards.
Only run. Not jump. Jumping leads to it not working, and sadness. Lots of sadness. Just walk or run into them.
Yes, this is absolutely, positively the opposite of how everything else in HoT works. Yes, it’s kittenning kitten that is how it works. …but don’t leave the ground until you are lifted by the game. Just don’t touch that spacebar!
Hmm, one stem is placed slightly awkwardly on uneven terrain, I ran into it, nothing, jumped, I was sprung upwards.

The Ascended trinkets bought in PvP, Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay, Bitterfrost Frontier and Lake Doric are stat selectable, with Crusader and Zealot in the lists.
Bolt, probably my favourite sword skin.
Tenebrous would suit too. It’s got a faint dark glow with a few light orbs. Does require guild commendations and mining the Gilded Hollow guild hall though.
Awesome, thank you for the insight Haleydawn! Good to know that it can be done with much less than I was originally thinking.
Yeah it’s not an overly difficult task tbh, the spawn points are what makes the most difference.
We took 15 purely because that’s how many of my guild wanted to join for the claim. Also as said above it scales after 10, 20 etc people. A lot will say for the sake of ease and simplicity, the best number to take is 9, it doesn’t scale and has the most ‘firepower’.
Also as said, asking for volunteers in map bodes well, people do join and help for a claim.
We claimed our hall with about 15 people, I think the absolute bare minimum for guild hall claiming is 5 people who are seasoned with the game mechanics. You could probably claim with less if you know exactly what to expect and can output insane damage and survive. There’s a couple hall claims on youtube that are solo/duo.
The Bitterfrost vendor Slooshoo offers Light, Medium and Heavy Ascended Aqua breathers with most of the HoT stats for 6,000 Unbound magic and 500 berries.
I agree with Mystic forging stats on these breathers should be put in game, but there’s definitly these:
Daily used to be set at 10k and was boosted up to 15k recently. Previously you could earn significantly more AP per day due to monthlies and separate daily rewards.
Daily AP and Monthly AP were both capped at 10k and 5k respectively. They were just merged. I’m all for decoupling monthlies and reinstating them without a cap but with a reasonable reward (40AP/mth and a chest of mystic coins.) This would encourage and reward regular play without the neccessity of logging in everyday, which was probably the reasoning behind the daily cap.
The daily laurel rewards were reworked into the daily login rewards.
The cap was introduced in March 2014. I doubt any players were near the caps when they were put in place.
4 years playing an MMO to cap out on the easiest achievement points is reasonable (I’ve been playing 4+years and I’ve not reached the daily AP cap yet, I think I’m 3-4k off it). There’s many other achievements to obtain to boost your number.
Daily AP/gold reward is not the be all, it’s just a little bonus for playing each day.
These restrictions are to safeguard from fraudulent transactions. I think they are entirely neccessary. They’re not there to humiliate anyone.
The level 80 boost, while given and usable to new accounts, is described as ‘For Advanced Players’. It gives you everything you could need to get started in HoT as a new player (Exotic items with stats to give you some wiggle room while you learn combat basics (Dodging, defensive utilities and weapon skills etc), which you usually learn while levelling normally). Yes, it’s not the best DPS, but it’s actually given to help you learn the stuff you wanted to skip. So, in 4 days you can buy what you want ingame, waiting is not stopping you from playing.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Might be a stupid question, but do you have the Exalted Gathering mastery?
Other than that, just keep mining. I guess.
You have to have done all of the achievements for the mote to appear for your account. You don’t need to clear the instance prior to starting it on challenge.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Whole post was well written Rognik, apart from this.
This one I think is messy for a whole other set of reasons. Yes, there’s nothing story-wise that would prevent this,
There’s several story points which are profession related, even down to your choices in character creation. In Scarlets Secret Room (Entanglement) Engineers specifically can interact with things you find for extra lore/info.
In The Head of the Snake (Confessor’s End) Thieves can pick the locks of the doors to the Manor, they can also pick the lock to Samarogs Arena in Bastion of The Penitent. Rangers can tame the beast masters pet to use in that fight in Confessors end.
Engineers only can also use the Turrets.
Necromancers can claim the Skeletons summoned by the High Inquisitor.
There’s probably a few more, but there is definitly Profession specific interacts that could be bodged up.

So, where was this announcement?
And even so, that doesn’t make it right…..
Glad you have time with all of that in your life to also keep up with a video game
I found those comments incredibly rude, it’s always the first assumption when people miss windows of opportunity, that people no-life games to know what changes are coming. I also work full time and have a life outside of game, but I read patch notes and forums because I enjoy this game enough to make sure I don’t miss any changes. Ironically, I saw this announcement the day it was posted but didn’t spend the rest of my shards (350) before the change, I was too busy, oh well, crafting some silly tokens will still be cheaper for me to do than craft outright on certain armor pieces (Until market stops fluctuating, and Anet rebalances for that “Small discount” again)
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
These are crafted from the same time gated materials as normal ascended armor. There is no discount, they actually take more time gated materials than ascended armor.
In my opinion, Anet should have gave people some kind of heads up that they were changing what people needed to buy the ascended gear in PvP instead of just sneaking it in. To make up for not annoucing the change they should let all those who participated in the season 5 pvp league the chance to use their unused ascended tokens on the gear they would have got if they knew of the change.
Concerning the mark tokens I think the idea is fine but you guys made both the pvp and fractal ascended gear more expensive to buy than it would be to craft. It’s like you guys aren’t thinking of all the time and effort people put into pvp and fractals to actually earn the other parts to buy the gear.
How many marks per piece of armor should be changed to:
Helmet and Gloves = 1 mark
Shoulder and Boots = 2 marks
Chest and Legs = 3 marksHow many marks per weapon should be changed to:
1 handed weapons = 1 mark
2 handed weapons = 2 marksIt was announced almost a week prior to the change, in the News and Announcements sub no less. With a post (Not Dev created/responded) in the General sub really soon after.
The recipes make it easier to control the materials needed for each Mark to buy the armor, so instead of reducing the Mark/piece, the materials per Mark can be adjusted in-line with market fluctuations to maintain the discount, which Anet intended. Don’t expect it anytime soon though, because you have to wait for it to settle to see a normal value.
It’s not an insane discount, of course. Welcome to the rest of the game who had to craft the armour for 50-65g per piece.

It was to bring Ascended acquisition in-line with crafting. Anet always wanted crafting to be the main source of it, the vendor now just means you can PvP or do fractals for which ever stats you want, and not farm in PvE open world for it (Makes sense for the HoT stats in particular).
Your second question (Tournaments) was answered long ago. You can use Google to look up the Dev response.
As the response from the CS Team indicates, it’s unlikely you will get an official response in this thread, but…there’s always hope.
Good luck.
The reasoning was something to do with a permanent drop in population most likely due to burnout during the tourneys, which were long. So, not surprising there.
Given world linking which is albeit still not perfect, and Skirmishes, Short but regular tournaments would likely be viable. Could even be ‘Tournament Skirmishes’ 4hrs apart from each other tbh
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
100% valid queries, I too would like some input regarding these questions about World vs World, but would like some others answered too;
Triumphant Hero armor, when? (Introduced nearly a year ago as a WvW reward yet still not implemented.)
Skirmish rewards.
Adjustments to reward track points, enabling direct track point increases to objectives that increase warscore (Captures, Dolyak escorts/kills, defense events)
Not helpful, as the OP should still recieve the boost item (as stated in your linked post) but not be able to use it.
Are you looking for the boost on an older character that may have a few things in your inventory? Try clicking on the cog wheel at the top right of your inventory box and seperate the Shared slots, since the boost is in one of them and can not be moved from it. You can also search your inventory. If you know for sure you don’t have it, I’d submit a support ticket.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
What we really need is a way to move all of them into our guild hall.
Why not add them to the hall as well as home instance?
I’d love guild hall cats, but with the option of bigger cats too like the Jaguars are Tigers.
You should be able to regain the item back following the above steps.
In the unlikely event you don’t, don’t buy gifts hoping for it, wait for Wintersday and do the PvP reward track, it’s guaranteed from the final reward.
To me the quantity of time gated materials is a bigger deal than gold. There already is a time gate in that it takes more than a season to create a set of the armor. Even for the beseeker’s example, who would wait 1 plus seasons just save 70 gold? If it is going to be this expensive, it should at least have a new skin.
There is no longer a cap on Ascended shards of glory, you can earn as many as you care to aslong as it’s in the league season. It’s ‘that expensive’ because of the armor quality, not the skin.
“Reduced the number of Ascended Shards of Glory obtained through league chests, but added Ascended Shards of Glory to the repeatable Byzantium reward chest.
Ascended PvP armor and weapons now require special currency that you craft along with Ascended Shards of Glory and gold.
The recipes are available from the ascended vendors for league tickets.
These recipes require fewer materials than normal ascended crafting, so they are a small discount from just crafting the armor and weapons outright.”
The Glorious armor reward track awards different armor skins to what the Ascended Ardent Glorious armor bought for shards are. The Ardent Glorious armor can be purchased as Ascended quality, or as just Exotic skins (which was your main complaint)
So is it the cost of obtaining Ascended gear (needed to be brought in-line with the main acquisition of it, crafting) or the farmability of the Ardent Glorious skins (there’s no limit on Ascended Shards during season, the sets can be bought as Exotic quaility skins, should be very quick tbh)?
Technically there’s 3 PvP armor skins, which are all similar but more/less vibrant. Glorious (reward track), Ardent Glorious (Asc Shards of Glory) and Glorious Hero’s (PvP related tournaments).
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
It’s almost as if they didn’t think things through before implementing them :/
For Berserkers stats, you get about 70g discount buying from this vendor compared to crafting it outright.
/shrug
If you want the Ardent skins you can just buy them, they’re in a seperate tab.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
But, every cat deserves a home!
This skill has a PvE version (including WvW)
Ok some are split to be PvE/PvP-WvW or PvP/PvE-WvW, deathly chill is split PvP/PvE-WvW, still only split two ways.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
The Steam Shield is similar, not a cog but it’s definitly in theme.
Getting to the cap is a little slower but how many people actually did 10+ daily achievements consistently every day with the old system?
I meant the even older system, where each daily was worth 5 points. And when there were monthlies, also worth a considerable amount.
But, the cap has been there since the inception of Dailies;
Not true. The dailies were there since the launch, but the cap appeared only in one of the later iterations of the system (fourth one, if i remember correctly).
You mean the system where players could do the daily within five minutes (like now) which consisted of four generic daily achievements that never changed and monthlies which were often completed within several hours? All of which didnt provide as much AP to players as the system we have in place today
Iirc the older daily/monthly system provided a lot more AP (still capped, but obtaining them was faster) with more effort (obviously) given the fact you could earn 40AP in 2012 per monthly, upto 80AP/mth in 2013 and upto 100AP/mth in 2014. It is also noted that the cap for monthly was at 5,000 (2014). So I think the cap has always been there, you just didn’t know until you hit it obviously.
That was also after the PvP monthly was merged with PvE.
There was also a lot of festival dailies which would tally up on your total daily AP, not your permanent.
I don’t agree with removing the cap, but I’m all for decoupling monthlies and reinstating them in a standardised way with no cap. (the arguement of ‘have to log in daily’ doesn’t work, and would reward regular play)
Edit: Removed speculation due to Healix’s post below.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
PvE and WvW do not get split. Only PvE (WvW is considered an extension of PvE) and sPvP do at the moment.
I doubt the Devs will change it, or revert it for a period of time.
But, if they do, they would need to revert the Gift of Battle acquisition, as well, just to be fair.
(At least this one was announced in News and Announcements.)
Good luck.
There was a warning 2 months before that change. Let’s not beat that dead horse.
As you said it yourself, you had 5 days before the change. More than enough.
If they had sent an in-game mail to people who had Ascended Shards of Glory then I would agree. Instead they put a post on the News and Announcement part of their forums not an article on the front page of the site, not the launcher not even a post in the PvP section.
That’s not enough time or notice or a good enough attempt at actually informing people but they’ve never been good at communication so I’m not surprised.
I’m glad I noticed someone else’s post on the matter, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to spend my shards in time.
User agreement, 2a “ArenaNet may modify, remove, or add Content in its reasonable discretion.”
The user agreement has nothing to do with whether or not they did a good job communicating the intended changes to the people who would be affected by them.
Black and white, Anet doesn’t have to give any notice of any changes if they wish not to (Hence the quote). 5 days is what we got.

I will agree the timing was short notice, however, the acquisition of ascended armor in PvP was the most lucrative way of getting it. It needed to be brought inline with crafting, same with Fractal vendor.
I’m just surprised that the raid vendor wasn’t touched though…
I must be one of the only ones who agrees with ANet on this, it was far too cheap to get ascended from PVP. It is supposed to be difficult to get, it is not a requirement that you get it as you can run around with exotics all you want and still win. Those of us who have put the time and effort into crafting, spending up to 100G a piece for ascended gear only to see cheap kitten in PvP makes you wonder why you bother, but luckily they have now seen the error of their ways.
Not at all. I actually like this change too.
tl&dr; statistics are boring and a waste of time. GW2 is a beautiful game with tons of possibilities. If you do not like crafting, just don’t do it. If you need crafting for legendaries or ascended gear, use the gw2crafts.net.
Whole post was well put. I agree 100%
This whole backlash of the Ascended Vending changes are ridiculous. Anet wanted the main way to get ascended armor and weapons to be to craft it.
The PvP vendor was poorly implemented, partly because it encouraged people who didn’t want to PvP to do so, leading to more matches with AFK players, players participating in league play and not caring that they lose, not wanting to improve. Causing other players, who want to progress their MMR, to drop.
With the introduction of the raid, with time spent maxing Weekly Magnetite shards, you actually get a massive discount compared to crafting it.
With the Fractal Vendor, it costs more to buy it than to craft it.
In PvP, yes, shards are capped per season, but the cost per piece was the most lucrative in game.
And not forgetting the fact Anet has still not implemented a similar vendor for WvW.
So with a bit of luck, all of these vendors will be brought inline (WvW case, implemented) with what Anet stated about a moderate discount compared to traditional crafting, across the board.

Truth be told, it doesn’t really matter, you’ll experience a different arc, but you’ll end up doing the same story from about the level 60 arc.
If your thief is Whispers (obvious choice right?) your ele I’m guessing will be Priory and Warrior Vigil, you can take you ranger on any and know that you will get your account badges and order achievements anyway.
I think my ranger is Vigil.
Mjolnir never had the illuminating effect..
I swear it had that effect, I remember playing CoF or some other dark dungeon when walking near walls it use to have light effect while running.
Found a few HD youtube videos from 2013, there is no illuminating effect in them at all. Mandela Effect?
The Ascended Sclerite Karka Shell? Unfortunatly for the exotic upgrade components, it is intended behaviour
Ascended can only have infusions placed in them.
As for your Fervid Censer, Anomaly listed on the Wiki page “Unlike other non-ascended back items, the Secret of Southsun version has a defensive infusion slot instead of a regular upgrade slot.”
So you have to use other Exotics to place your upgrade components in.

Mjolnir never had the illuminating effect..
I have maxed all (Scribe included) except for Artificer, which is at around 440ish.
At the time, I just did it for the AP mainly. I do enjoy the Chef discipline though, only for the discovery side of things, it’s actually a little immersive haha.

kitten this convo got deep.
I think everyone is just trying to tell you that the main game does provide you with enough knowledge about your main storyNot unless you play the content in chronological order (and watch the video for season one):
- original campaign
- Living World season 1 (visit NPC in Lion’s Arch + watch this video)
- Living World season two
- Heart of Thornes
- Living World season threethats a 4 hour video tho
I played through the LS1 content, and during my map completing/g-missions today, I played this video entirely, just listening to it is enough. I totally forgot how epic ls1 was.
It’s been changed for a while now, hasn’kitten
The hidden achievement is called Perfect Execution. The description is “Rescue villagers set by the White Mantle to burn at the stake or escort quaggans near Saidra’s Haven.”
Does the quaggan event require Saidra’s Haven to be under White Mantle control, too?
