Make sure you have interacted with Tactician Elke, Braham and Rox, Marjory and Kasmeer, Taimi and Canach. In that order.
Then go up the stairs and the cutscene will trigger, prompting you to finish the instance and go through the portal to “Torn from the Sky”.
You don’t have to do any of the events in the Prologue: Rally to Maguuma, aslong as you get these dialogues in.
Wouldn’t it be beneficial to add standard enemy model options to wvw? And just fix the weapon swap perks from tonic spam.
I’d like to see the combat tonics, new and old, have a dodge animation before being implemented. But Standard Enemy Models would be the band aid to that.
It was discussed in another post that the general community felt that this was an unfair decision. Most felt that a compromise could be established in which after completing one GOB or one GOE then the rest of the account that completed it should have access to those gifts as we are repeating what we already have done. The community was wondering if Guild Commendations or some other form could be used to obtain the GOE and GOB for the account that opened it.
Developers replied those requests and denied them. End of story. You should have to do the content to get the reward, goes for GoB and GoE.
Why should peoples effort to repeat map completion for GoE be devalued because the vocal minority (the general community doesn’t all use the forum, surprise) on the forum can’t be kitten d to repeat it for the gifts?
Did you have Vengeful Return traited? Without this, you only have a 20% chance to rally (Stay alive once the duration ends) from a Kill while using Vengeance.
Taken from the Vengeance wiki page;
Some things you can rally off of in the downed state cannot be rallied off of during Vengeance (ex. weak spawned minions, turrets, target-able environmental objects)
Is it an Intricate Gossamer Insignia? Do you have a screenshot?
“The thing” cost 72g. He bought the ascended insignia.
OP, You need the Exotic, Intricate Gossamer Insignias/Inscriptions to change ascended stats in the forge.

I agree with Macon, I am a PVE player. Am trying to make Bolt and now am being punished and condemned to WvW in order to finish it. Every time I get into WvW either there are no CMDR tags or the ones I group up with seem to think being out numbered 3 to 1 are good odds. Last weekend I spent several hours and managed to get about 1k exp towards the 20k needed. at this rate it’ll take several months worth of weekends to get it. Please, please, PLEASE go back to beeing able to buy it with the commendation things. I don’t like WvW, what did I do to deserve this punishment? : )
What part of the game isn’t optional?
Levelling. We get no option to not level.
What part of the game isn’t a long term goal?
Enjoying it. Exploring, each small bit has it’s instant reward of you just exploring. Even getting to max level with appropriate gear, isn’t a long term goal.
If we break this down even further (which I personally can’t be bothered to break it down further) most legendary gifts can be considered short term investments.
My point really is, why play for instant gratification beyond the above? Because you wont find it in late/end-game.
Everything in this game is a heavy sink there are no light deals inbetween to raise peoples spirits before they get back into the grind. Thus whether or not an item is cosmetic or not doesn’t matter because the game lacks hard items due to stat cap thus cosmetic is all we have and thus grind is all we have to do.
There are many cosmetics ingame that don’t require a huge investment of time.
There are collections that require a consistent, yet relaxed effort to complete. (Dungeon Armor collections, Bladed/Ley-line/Carapace Armors, Fractal weapons etc)
Maybe we both just look at things differently. There are short term and long term goals in-game. The difference is people want instant gratification for something that is supposed to take time. /shrug
You can get anything ingame, if you do the content/make the gold for it. Not everyone flashing 3+ Legendaries/full Ascended sets/expensive collections whipped out a credit card for it.
If you feel like it’s just and endless grind, then maybe MMOs aren’t for you.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Achievements and skins/weapons are an entirely optional part of gameplay.
Think of these that are too expensive for you as long term goals if you’re that determined to have them.
I didn’t feel like it was a grind to get Central Tyria Mastery Points at all. Sorry you think it is, and don’t like that, but the check list for these points are exactly the same for everyone else. Most of us muddled through the LS 2 achievements, others went out of their way trying to find Triple Trouble maps, doing Fractals and spending a ton of gold.
(I already had all MPs needed for Central masteries as soon as HoT went live, but I enjoyed getting those achievements at the time. So it worked out for people like me anyway.)
As people keep saying this was just a way of keeping people playing, and Advanced Logistics was one of the best masteries added. To have something so useful that core/f2p players don’t have. It is a big carrot to have, the same with it’s WvW counterpart, Provisions Master.
Also,
I would complete dive master, but the WvW griefers add to the difficulty.
There are no dive spots located in WvW that count towards this achievement, they are all in Tyria. This quote alone, tells me that you didn’t even research the ease of some of these achievements.
This is all dependant on what you want to do though.
Sure, mapping is two birds with one stone if you play PvE for the majority of your time. (One player got all relevant Waypoints for world bosses and dungeons in less than an hour, so it’s neither here nor there)
However, with this “two birds with one stone” arguement, WvW tracks also give other loot rewards ontop of the tomes of knowledge, you can get a full set of Exotic gear ready for your new character while you level in Edge/WvW.
Crafting 0-400 gets you roughly 7 levels. 400-500 gets you an additional 3 levels. Be sure to use crafting boosters for the additional XP.
There’s nothing saying you should solely do the one thing either. But there’s enough suggestions here to get you to “End game” really quickly.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
You also have to account for the tomes in the reward tracks in WvW, so Edge should still be faster unless you know how to “speed clear” map completions and the personal story. Even then, I still think Edge/WvW is slightly faster with all XP boosters.
XP was nerfed in Edge but crafting XP was also nerfed slightly too.
You only evade for the 1/2 second that your character rises into the air, the landing is not covered by the evade portion.
Unblockable skills can be evaded by dodging or other effects, aside from the ones that cannot be evaded by any means. (usually pve special circumstances, Giganticus Lupicus’ grub for instance is entirely unavoidable)
Before we got Badges of Honor in achievement chests, the only way to get the GoB was by actively playing WvW, since you could only get Badges from playing WvW.
You could get Badges of
JumpingHonor from the Jumping Puzzles in WvW.
Yeah about 5 for the Borderlands and around 10 for Obsidium iirc. Still is now too, only difference is, I don’t see any happy campers in those JP’s like there used to be :P
It should have always remained as something you could only get in WvW.
Before we got Badges of Honor in achievement chests, the only way to get the GoB was by actively playing WvW, since you could only get Badges from playing WvW. Anet just took it back to its root by putting it in a reward track.
We were warned that as soon as the tracks came out of Beta, that Gift of Battle would only be obtainable in the reward track. They did not need to give us a date. They warned us all, and the tracks came out of Beta 3 months after that warning.
To quote the User Agreement you all agreed to when you created your account;
2a … ~ “ArenaNet may modify, remove, or add Content in its reasonable discretion.”
100% behind this.
Raids get discounted ascended armor.
Fractals get the vendor, which is more convenience as it’s more expensive than crafting (which should be altered to be more inline with the Raid discount imho).
Are you sure it’s not because of the WvW reset, resetting the Power of the Mists bonus we get in PvE and WvW? Specifically the Robust % buff (increase maximum HP by upto 10%)?
You can read about it here.
Hmm a bit early, since I’ve not seen a whiney “please nerf 100 Nightmare Challenge” thread at all.
But when the time comes, and it’s likely it will eventually. I agree, this does not need nerfing. It’s got the perfect balance of challenge and fun in it. (After 6 or so failed attempts on the last boss, I cleared it with a party of full pugs.)
So this is over a few hours? Ofc you’ll have more orders above you. I seriously doubt it’s one guy either.
Also, you overbid by 1-2c, but others that do it are, potentially bots? I don’t think this thread is holding much water anymore.
what part of i get overbid by 1c as 11 offer number for hours over and over again on 200 items instantly you don’t get? is that so hard to understand?
Then report it and move on? I don’t quite understand the point your thread has gotten to. There’s actually no point to it, all people can tell you, and have done, is to report it and move on? If it is a bot, Anet should deal with it and put them in the next blanket ban.
You’d be surprised how quick people can over bid 1c on things they want, as I said, I basically nursed the TP for an hour or two, 1c overbidding for 200+ random t6 mats I needed.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Recipe dropped in the original Molten Facility dungeon. (Gw2 Wiki is amazing) So now unobtainable.
You can buy it from the trading post however.

+1 to the tweaking of this mechanic.
Just work around it for now by taking a different profession.
Interesting concept for a proffession though. Musical theatre meets combat. I might like it.
Once more, with feeling!
If you click on the “A Crack in the Ice Mastery” meta achievement, it will tell you exactly which achievements count towards its completion.
All you can do is report suspicious behavior. If it’s TP related you have to submit your evidences differently ofc because you don’t have a player you can actually report.
Then you let Anet deal with it.
As to the ‘suggestion’ of a gradually increasing tax for sales, where do you start to increase? When should it decay? Should it reset daily?
I personally think that’s a ludicrous idea.
You stated listing 200 or so items yourself, this is a global market shared between NA and EU. There was probably 200 people all bidding for these items.
I’ll also state I am one to overbid/undercut by 1c. Why? Because I am well entitled to get the absolute best price on what I am bidding for or selling. I did this on all T6 mats yesterday for about an hour to finish my Gift of Fortune.

Does everything in game need a spoiler tag just incase somebody doesn’t know about it?
In my view, anything pertaining to very new content does, no matter how small. I’m currently playing with the chat widow off and (mostly) avoiding forum threads about the new stuff. It’s not a biggie and I’d probably rescue the cub anyway but it’s hard to keep hold of the joy of discovery in these sort of games. And it’s not that hard to stick a spoiler tag on it….
Maybe you should avoid the forums altogether then? Since you seem far more, ‘military’, in your description of “spoilers”.
I still don’t think this is a spoiler.I don’t really get why you are so upset. It’s not even your thread. All I asked was for a spoiler tag to give warning to others that they may also consider it to be a (very small) spoiler. /shrug
Not upset. Just find the “omg spoiler” mentality of something that isn’t a spoiler an unneccessary comment, like our entire back and forth.

Yes please! My tiger babies are old enough to wander around.
I’d like to go as far as having the cubs as “Pack of Cubs” Mini. So all 3 could be summoned as a minipet (where all 3 are visible and following you, think Karka Hatchling Mini, but cute tiger cubs)
Can you add “[Spoiler]” to the thread title?
I didn’t know about that cub.
I hardly think it’s a spoiler. “Spoilers”, pertain mainly to storylines, specifically big reveals or twists.

I’d really like for some of the transformations in my Endless Fractal Tonic to be “combat compatible” since a lot of them are humanoid.
I love the design of the ascension – i guess tastes are just different….
I like it, I wouldn’t have it if I didn’t, but I do think there’s is room for improvement, like there is with many legendaries. They wouldn’t keep updating them if there wasn’t.
I have to agree here.
I own The Ascension and I feel it’s unsheathed state is ok, but when gliding, there’s a faint white trail and the span is quite small. I’d like it if the depth of each wing was increased aswell as the particle effect. Then add in a fire trail to the wings, on top of the ‘fire sparks’, when walking/gliding (small when walking, longer while gliding)
It’s going to make me sad replacing those nice runes Anet provided my 80-boosted Rev with cheaper movement speed runes. I just can’t take the slowness. I really don’t understand why all classes don’t have equal access to increased movement speed. There are other ways to make classes unique than to cripple some of them.
But as a Revenant you have permanent swiftness with Glint Elite spec, which is what rounds off the Revenant… There’s no comparison spec for Revenant that doesn’t use Glint, it’s pretty necessary to run it.
Only 4 professions have a Signet to grant 25%+ Movement Speed. This sacrifices a utility slot for something, in most cases, useless for the speed increase.
There are 8 traits for 7 different professions that give 25% Movement Speed, 6 of which have temporary conditions to meet before applying. (Warrior – with Melee weapons, Necro -with Dagger equipped/in Death Shroud, Thief +50% while in Stealth only Etc) This in most cases sacrifices a better trait or even a whole line, for the movement speed.
For everyone else, there’s Traveller Runes.
The ghetto method consits of:
- minimap zoomed in to max
- approximately your current location to one of the edges of the minimap = max portal distance/range
- horizontal only, not sure about height
- bonus brownie points if you mark the minimap before running to that distance else you might over extendThis usually always works for me. Yes it would be nice to have some form of built in QoL feature regarding Mesmer portals. I don’t see how technical limitations get in the way… Oh well.
Wouldn’t your method involve a particular sized minimap also? This is not a solution at all.
Skills like portal should have the red bar range indicator or atleast have a check before portal placement of ‘Out of Range’ to not waste the cooldown.

Basically because in PvE you get actual XP, in PvP/WvW the XP is given artificially through tomes to mimic leveling.
WvW is quicker than PvP for getting tomes imho. If you can, do some of both WvW and PvP just for daily pots if you want.
You can get Writs from PvE dailies and trade 20 in for 1 tome.
Daily logins grant 10-16 tomes per month (I would not recommend choosing the 6 tomes over the laurels or ascended materials in the Chest of Loyalty however)
Some WvW Dailies don’t even require one step foot in WvW, and the Chest includes a ToK.
Only the Transcendent Chest of Knowledge, grants a tome, you only get this with Daily Keep Capturer.
But trust me, when you don’t need tomes, you’ll swim in them. I have maybe nearly 2 stacks, and I just consume them for shards, which I also don’t need but it stores it infinitly in the wallet.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I’d rather they work on the PvP system already in game.
It’s not fun with all the damage/high sustain/spam stuff we’ve got. Conquest gets boring after a while. WvW is, well, he who transfers wins, or outnumbered on all maps, sort of enjoy it, but there’s too much Ktraining going on. Anet can expand and improve PvP in this game.
Thank you for this list. I 100% agree with all the “should be included” and “shouldn’t be included”. Some things must remain as unobtainable, because they were for loyalty, gift for supporting Anet at the start, or actual Achievement rewards, obtainable now or not.
I’m so angry at this 2 weeks after I payed $99.99US for this which is $131.99 Aud> i struggled to raise this full amount from my disability pension. Any one else have this issue.
dude… you can ask for refund since any purchase is qualify for refund within 30 days. they will only disable the HoT feature for your account, your existing character will stay in tact, only access to HoT is blocked. then, after you get your refund you can repurchase the discounted HoT.
you’ll be surprised what will happen. trust me…
No harm in trying, but reading this thread from the previous sale, Ultimate Edition is exempt from “refund the difference” on purchases made upto 30 days prior to a sale, you also had to have bought standard/deluxe direct from Anet to also qualify for this.
You can refund an account purchase, but this closes the account permanently, since once you’re on a HoT account key, your original game key expires and is erased. There is no decoupling. Which is why Anet refunds the difference on standard/deluxe purchases upto 30days prior of a sale.
OP paid $100 chances are it’s Ultimate Edition, or he was scammed.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
It’s ok because the Edition you bought is not on sale.
So if you were so dead set on getting the Ultimate Edition (my guess is you were, given your description of basically scraping by so you can buy it) it’s no different.
I do wonder why struggle so much for $100 to buy a game when you could’ve, just bought the Deluxe Edition game and the gems later?
As per above. You have to do the story once, then repeat on the same character to get the achievements.
You can’t do the story on Character A and proceed to get achievements on Character B.
My only gripe is lack of seasonal repeatable content. The Living Story back then every two weeks, as unsustainable as it was, was amazing.

A message from the PvP Team:
Hi all,
We’ve been monitoring your feedback regarding the temporary achievements included with the recent PvP map releases, and we wanted to let you know that we’ve decided to make those achievements permanently obtainable. In addition, we will continue to offer the achievements for Eternal Coliseum and will be reactivating those related to Revenge of the Capricorn in the future to give players another chance to complete them. Lastly, we wanted to let you know that we’re planning to introduce map achievements for each of the existing PvP maps in a later release. We’ll have more information on those as the time gets closer.
Thanks!
The PvP team
Oh look a suggestion I made a few months back has been granted. Thank the gods.
More AP for you guys that want it coming soon.
The Capricorn Achievement will be removed at the end of season 4. Coliseum Achievements will be removed at the end of season 5.
Should have learned from Living World Season 1 and temporary achievements. Especially given the fact that even if these maps are in rotation by chance or because they’re pinned, there’s not a guarantee you will play that map on every match.
I’ve seen a few suggestions to add more achievements to PvP, and these map specific ones are a great idea, why remove them? Why not add more for the other maps with their own titles?
I knew you’d do the right thing. Maybe people who are complaining about their AP stalemate will be satiated. It’s about time PvP got more earnable achievements.
I’d also like to suggest a Map Frequenter repeatable achievement, kind of like the Dungeon Frequenter.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I’ve seen a few of these threads before and everybody who wants the Daily AP cap lifted, blames the cap for their current lack of interest ingame, rather than the inbalance of point distribution on achievements themselves. That and the fact that new content which is awarding the AP is coming in slowly and staggered.
My personal suggestion is to not remove the cap but to add more repeatable achievements ingame that award 5/10 AP per repeat.
For example, the Dungeon Hobby Explorer, capped at 200 points should be increased to 500 points.
The new Dungeon Frequenter (that awards 5g) should award either 5g or 10AP.
A repeatable Fractal Frequenter which awards 10AP.
A repeatable WvW event achievement. (Not unlike the PvE’s versions “Local Hero” and “Emergency Response Hero”)
A repeatable PvP match frequenter. A repeatable select map frequenter. Individual map achievements for each map that aren’t time sensitive.
I could go on…
It all comes down to choice of the players. If some want to use their key in the waiting period before the fire elemental it is entirely their right to it. You or anyone else can’t dictate how others play the game, it could be someone who doesn’t even track world bosses that uses their key when they do. You just don’t know.
I believe once the Steam Creature boss has been killed, you are unable to unlock the area again for 20 minutes. This cooldown I think is to prevent quick farming of the steam creature, since it’s easy to farm the key and stack/hoard them in your bank, taking one at a time out to unlock the event.
Your first point would be valid IF you didn’t need to kill said world boss in order to charge the key, but as the 2 are linked yea im going to say someone is trolling this event/map, people used to troll it along time ago, and use a get around to get into the portal kill the golem, and when the key was used the golem would not spawn,
The key should only beable to be used on the portal within 15 minutes of the world boss dying, the key is linked to the world boss event, thus should be used with it, if Anet don’t want it this way, you need a different way to charge the key without the world boss.
You may need the fire elemental killed to charge the key, but you only need 1 key to open the area, so many people bank their keys to use later. There’s nothing wrong with this, people kill the steam ogre first because it’s efficient to do first, since you spend 10 minutes waiting for the elemental to pop in the first place. The fire ele is before the 2 “bigger” world bosses being Triple Wurm and Tequatl and maybe now even the Shatterer being 3rd too. Those few shaved minutes to get onto these organised maps can matter to some people.
Eitherway, you can’t really tell people how they play is wrong imo. It’s down to personal preferance and maybe a little organisation
Apart from my personal favourite legendaries of course.
I love the Ascalonian Greatsword because it actually looks like a greatsword. Big wide and really nice detail on it.
Dark Harvest for the same reason as above, it’s small particle effect is good too.
The Antique weapon skins, (standard ascended skins) are really nice too, subtle effect on them but intricate details, they also actually look like they should when you imagine them, not too big or small, not gawdy. You even have a choice of colour! So great for Fashion Wars.
Horoligicus. My favourite shield skin closely followed by Glint’s Bastion.
Bo. We need more symmetrical staves in game for melee users, but this skin is so intricate and perfectly proportioned.
I have a few other non-legendary favourites, but these stick out the most.

Most Fractals aren’t an alternate reality, they’re based on what has actually happened in Tyria.
The Molten Berserker and Firestorm was a Flame Legion Magic cross Dredge technology accident which resulted in what we see today. They were trying to create powerful weaponry, at the cost/risk of life it seems.
The original living story dungeon (which was butchered to then give two fractals, The Molten Facility and The Molten Duo Boss.) can be read about here.
(The original boss fight was far harder than the fractal bosses.)

The heart may be slowly picked away at by the Veteran Event which is extremely tedius.
I tried to get the POI by using suggestions here to use the map break teleport to swim under the POI, log out and back in, this does not work if your game loads too quick.
So even if it does take hours to finish the heart I still can not get the POI.
I actually hoped this would have been fixed this patch, so thanks too the recent posts keeping it updated…
Are you sure you haven’t filled the XP line for this also?
