It also made all GoB worthless.
I am wondering why you think this. GoB only has value if you need one. Since it is account bound. Now, instead of passivly earning one with Achievement chest badges, you need to actively spend time in WvW. Time, is far more valuable than anything else, in or outside of game.
I will also relink the Dev response which renders anyone arguing against this change completely moot.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
It was about not being given proper notice that the change was coming. Yes it was in the patch notes
That, is a proper notice… It’s noone elses fault you can’t spend 5-15mins reading. It was even under it’s correct heading in WvW since GoB can only be obtained in WvW.
“But I don’t play WvW” You’re making a legendary which requires something from WvW, you should read the notes for it. It’s really not that difficult a concept.
“But I already spent time obtaining badges” Why didn’t you buy it ages ago then?
So what exactly are you complaining about?
A WvW change being documented under the WvW heading in patch notes? Blasphemy!
Spending 8hrs in WvW to earn 500 badges compared to spending 8hrs in WvW to complete a reward track? Oh right, Anet changed it to be an active reward instead of a passive one. And rightly so imho. The item in question is part of a Legendary journey, you should have to do other things besides PvE to get one.
I probably spend 1hr per week if that in WvW and I really like this change. I read all patch notes because I spend time in practically all game modes. It’s a shame people can’t be bothered to read patch notes but I bet you all wont be missing the next ones just in case!
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
You may discuss, argue, fall down and scream about this all you like, But this will not be changed.
So deal with it.
This change did not need a specific date, and did not need more communication. It was in patch notes, I wouldn’t expect a huge fanfare or several articles about a change which isn’t exactly a big deal anyway.
All the playerbase needed to know was that this was going to happen. So it was in the patch notes in the relevant section. You would have had people complain no matter how long or short the Reward Track beta was.
people who were disconnected through no fault of their own are being punished.
How exactly do you detect if one fakes a DC to actually having a DC out of your hands? You can’t. Unless Anet is working on some amazing algorithm to detect it (which I personally doubt) you will not know. Loads of people were begging for Dishonor to be put back into the game, and since it was I dont see half as many people disconnecting/afk as I used to. The only AFKs I see are also the ‘honorable’ afk, where it’s a team decision. You have a 250+ point deficit to your opponents, and even that’s rare to witness.
Many are asking for harsher punishments for DC/AFKs because they do ruin match quality. The best suggestion I saw was to give the team who has the DCd player(s) a buff similar to the WvW Outnumbered buff, 25% reward track gain, and a pip-saver. Which, I think is an amazing idea personally, because Dishonor is usually enough for people to stop afking or to sort their connection out. So instead buff the remaining team in terms of reward.
You should make sure your connection and game client is stable. There’s many ways to do this. The dishonor system itself, is working as intended.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I believe you get 1 minute from when you disconnect to get back into the game until dishonour stacks are applied to you.
Queue Dodge (3 stacks) — Failing to accept a match queue prompt
Abandon (10 stacks) — Leaving a match. Relogging, or changing characters during a match does not grant dishonorable, with some exceptions
Being kicked by AFK detection automatically
Being absent from a match when the match has ended.
Gw2Wiki
No one will be able to tell if your disconnect was your fault (pulled the plug) or not.
Sorry, but dishonour is working as intended. Peoples disconnects gives a poor experience for atleast 4 other people each time.

Hmm you could combine the Forgeman’s armor from Sorrow’s Embrace with Asuran tier chest/legs. I’m no where near game right now but that dungeon armor looks like it should do the trick.
From the Wiki:
The exceptions are:
Containers received from structured PvP reward tracks.
Divine Lucky Envelopes during Lunar New Year
Heart of Thorns meta event participation containers.Good luck.
Am I reading this correctly, that HoT event loot IS affected by MF? Cause all I know is, during the Tarir event, especially, I deck myself out with any and all MF sources I have. Now from your reply here, it sounds like… my attempts here are not in vain?
Read the whole thing again, properly.
Basically the only things magic find works on are mob drops, specific PvP loot boxes (the ones which have beast/mob names), Lucky Envelopes and HoT meta event participation containers. (The wiggly chest after completing the meta events)
So no, Tarir chests, nor any other chest is affected by it.
Since you reached legendary, the part 3 achievement should be 2/3.
Since part one is 1 division cross.
Part two is another 2 division crosses.
Part three is another 3 division crosses.
Part four is another 4 division crosses.
If you only reached legendary this season, you’ve crossed 5 thresholds, completing the first two, but still need 1 more cross to complete the part 3. Then to cross 4 to complete the fourth part.
In total you need to cross 10 division thresholds to complete this part of the meta achievement. This does not get reset, and does take 2 seasons to complete.

This is not a cosistant bug as I did this achievement about 2 weeks ago. Remember that you can not at any point be downed/dead while doing this.
They only drop from their respective sources. Ie not the forge.
I see lots of people saying that there wasn’t enough communication to do with Gift of Battles move to a reward track. Not enough warning. Text in the wrong place or that people don’t read patch notes.
Well, I think even if Anet did give date for this change in the patch notes, it would still have come as a shock to some players saving badges for this gift as they don’t read patch notes/ignore patch notes that they think don’t apply to them. You will always have found something to complain about.
The Gift of Battle has always been a requirement in any legendary, you had and still have to play WvW to obtain this (if you spent badges as quickly as you got them like myself). In all fairness badges of honor should have never been in the achievement chests. I believe most of these complaints stem from this currency itself and obtaining it without doing the content to obtain it.
If you’re working on a legendary, you should be well aware you would need a GoB, therefore you should be reading the WvW patch notes until you had obtained said gift. I don’t feel this should have been under its own heading as it was in its rightful place under WvW specifically beta reward tracks, since most people who do keep up to date with patch notes knew this gift was moving to a track within a short amount of time.
Giving a specific date for this change wasn’t necessary, all we needed to know was that it would be changing shortly and to buy the gift if we could as soon as possible. Which I did evidently, because I read the patch notes… You will always have gotten the players who said “not enough time” “not enough notice” “I don’t read patch notes” no matter if the time period was 6 weeks (roughly how long this actually was) or 6 months.
Saying that the patch notes were too long is not an excuse either, it takes about 5-15 minutes of reading to get up to date on patches. That’s not a huge amount of time. 5-15minutes of reading every 2 weeks, such effort.
Tl:dr
Deal with the changes. I’d actually be very happy of including PvP into the gift of battle by doing a reward track for two items in both WvW and sPvP to be combined in the forge to make Gift of Battle, but that’s another suggestion topic I cba to post.
A bit of back ground: I play about 10hrs a week now, I mainly PvE/PvP and only step into WvW every so often when I fancy it.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Why has XP got to keep rewarding people? I really dont get this obsession with ‘wasted XP’. It’s not wasted XP, its just not relevant to you right now. As soon as new mastery tracks are added, it’ll be relevant again. Deal with it. I’ve had maxed masteries for months now and I honestly can’t see what people are obsessing about.
Giving more loot for doing PvE is just distasteful and causes even more imbalance between modes. The game mode which gets you the most gold/hr ratio out of all 3 game modes and you want more?
This has been happening longer.
I first noticed this when I made the Spinal blades back items in ‘Save LA’ content over 2 years ago.
Either way, a fix is due. Preferably to how the glider/back items spawn and despawn for each other, like a shrinking effect.
As said above, there are no inactive accounts blocking people from servers, since server populace is determined from active players in WvW.
It’s in a place where I’d rather play myself than watch.
I think the fact that there is only conquest does ruin both playing and watching.
You need to have variety. You need the 2v2/3v3 arena skirmish. You need a real resource race mode, 8v8 or 10v10, where nodes can decap themselves or you need to bolster alliances for man power or combat bonuses or whatever else creative that gives a real sense of battle.
It is boring because there is only one game mode. I don’t know anyone who plays Stronghold, to me, this map has failed, and all esl tournaments I think have been on the conquest maps.
So, in short. Variety in both game mode and build diversity.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I sincerely hope you aren’t one of the people screaming in ecstasy about PvE players now being “forced” to do WvW to get the GoB because that would be a crazy level of hypocrisy.
I disagree though. Why should you be allowed to purchase anything for heroic notaries, a technically unlimited currency, that is bound by laurels in other game modes, a currency that is by its very nature time gated to a small trickle?
I think the OPs intention is to add HoT stat ascended items to the Laurel vendor… Which are only obtainable in Raid for the most part.
Why should you be allowed to purchase anything for heroic notaries, a technically unlimited currency, that is bound by laurels in other game modes (HoT items/recipes are bound by their map currencies which are insanely easy to come by), a currency that is by its very nature time gated to a small trickle?
One could say the same for buying these recipes for the map currencies they are currently obtainable from, I think you may have your wires crossed.
+1 to the OP. HoT ascended trinkets/rings and back items should be obtainable outside of the raid.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
As an elementalist, you should be switching attunements as part of a good rotation for dps and support.
To your question, Scholar runes for sure.
I’m working on the ascension atm.
I think it’s in an ok place, but there needs to be a bit more fire around it, there’s more of it in its precurser than the Legendary itself.
I also think something should be done about the glider particle effects (or lack of, as it currently is), fire should be trailing from it imho.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I actually love The Ascension. Nearly finished the 4th meta-achi.
I also love and have Quip.
If you want to fight this injustice, why not do something on your own life, join your local pride marches and events, or if you’re local in Orlando go and give blood.
Anet making and selling whatever’s doesn’t actually fight anything. Lets leave real life problems outside of fantasy games. I play to escape.
honestly as a returning wvw player
Or as a returning WvW player, you could play WvW and trade in 10 Proofs of Heroic to unlock a HoT Hero Point…
In all seriousness though. This incredibly petty if you can’t even attempt to work the map to your advantage, whether it’s Foefire, Forest, Temple or any other.
And what exactly will you be screenshotting as proof? Proof of what? Why? I honestly don’t get that statement.
Isn’t the bug more that it shouldn’t be showing you where your friends on other servers are at all when they are in WvW?
I am tending to agree with this.
Maybe just changing anyone in WvW to display location as World Vs World rather than what borderland would fix both the location issue in the OP plus any other negative effects that arise with displaying the actual map name.
Was you in a squad group/party at the time?
Squad/party members show as Blue dots.
Allies as Green dots.
Guild members as Yellow dots.
Tell me more about the Foefire Lords in Forest. Kek
This is a case of you not understanding the achievement wording correctly.
“Souldbind 90 unique pieces of Cultural Armor”
1 helm, 1 shoulder, 1 chest, 1 glove, 1 leg and 1 boot, from each of the tiers.
No. This is not bugged.
Illusion of life has a condition where the revived needs to kill an enemy to stay alive. And it is still noted as bugged on the Wiki page, not tested it but, saying it works might be pushing it.
3 3/4 cast for a revive is ok. That and the fact the signet has a passive effect whereas illusion of life doesn’t.
If anything this could really be flipped to say all existing Longbows are realistically too short. Since a longbow is roughly designed to be as tall as the person using it.
But who cares about realism in a fantasy game.
Chuka is fine as it is. Since we don’t have sliders to adjust weapon size.

Your main one is to learn tells of damaging attacks and to dodge them.
Thieves Condi removal is either Withdraw or Hide in Shadows heal skill, Signet of Agility, Roll For Initiative, Shadow Step-Return, or trained to sync with other utilities (Shadows Embrace, Trickster, Guarded Initiation, Escapists Absolution, Unhidered Combatant)
So it’s not like Thieves have no Condi removal, just sometimes it’s situational or has to be timed right.

Here’s my suggestions I posted in another thread about MMR.
Untie rewards from division threshold. (PvP tickets and Backpack division crosses mainly.)
Increase amount of tiers in divisions. Reward PvP tickets for every match won, extra on a win streak.
Remove safety nets once reaching Emerald. (Can not fall back into Amber)
Only pick people within piprange of you.
Don’t have PvP ‘Seasons’, have it up as a continuous element of gameplay. Reward on a monthly basis of gold/transmutation charges/titles, depending on your position determines how much/what title if any.
Along with those, the Legendary Leaderboard should have a decay in which if you don’t participate you eventually end up at the start of Emerald. Losing X amount of pips per week of non-activity. (basically you fall off the Leaderboard and lower, no one should hover in legendary)
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I disagree. Kind of.
If your team can win a game while a person has been disconnected, they should receive pips, instead of having pips unchanged due to desertion. The person who disconnected should be labeled as deserter, because they did, and lose pips because of it. You left the team to 4v5 for X minutes and their extra effort made them win the match.
None of your suggestions would change toxic players. The actual PvP fundamentals aren’t toxic, the players are (well, some of them). That’s where the toxicity is.
But that’s what happens with competition, it depends how far one takes on insulting or to be insulted. I personally don’t trash talk, insult, name call, spam etc any other player. I’m not a kitten. Its not worth it.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
“Toss spectral scythes at foes in front of you, applying chill to them and pulling them to you. " Yep, definitely a projectile.
Coming from someone who has obtained a few now unobtainable items, bring all of those items back as some form of reward or to be purchased via laurels.
-Stalwart/Tribal/Diviner etc which were PvP obtainable. (I have the full Stalwart set and 1 piece of Tribal)
-Molten Jetpack
-Green Quaggan backpack (I have this)
-Shattered Dragon Wings
-Etc
I did obtain the shattered Dragon wings but they did not carry into the wardrobe so are now lost until further notice for me (sucks).
That’s what happens when MMR is used for matches. It allows people to tank to force winstreaks. It sucks and completely negates the League.
Possible solution:
Untie rewards from division threshold. (PvP tickets and Backpack division crosses mainly.)
Increase amount of tiers in divisions. Reward PvP tickets for every match won, extra on a win streak.
Remove safety nets once reaching Emerald. (Can not fall back into Amber)
Only pick people within piprange of you.
Don’t have PvP ‘Seasons’, have it up as a continuous element of gameplay. Reward on a monthly basis of gold/transmutation charges/titles, depending on your position determines how much/what title if any.
Maybe this way only the people playing for competition will rise to Diamond/Legendary Leaderboard, while still letting the people who play for fun/skins do so.

Language favours “got another think coming” especially if it comes after something like “well if he thinks that…”
It’s a rebuttal, basically. Calling someone out as false or incorrect.
Also needs to have projectile effects now Revenant and Scrappers (Grenade Barrage) are on the scene.
Mesmer- Greatsword / Sword + Shield (Sub for focus)
Guardian- Sceptre + Torch / Longbow (Sub for Greatsword)
Warrior- Axe + Mace / Rifle
Engineer- Hammer (sub for Pistol – X)
Thief- Dagger + Pistol / Shortbow
Necro- Axe + Focus / Staff
I think they cover all terrestrial weapons…
I’d recommend getting HoT if you want to have a character for each weapon as it makes it easier, giving you an extra weapon choice.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
The game will only remember your last previous map location. Since your guild hall is an Instance, it can’t ‘think’ where you were before that, So the North of Lions Arch is the default ‘drop location’ for characters which encounter this.
This is normal.
You have to take a crude leather book to Cymbel. She also has to have her hounds, So if the rescue event for them is up, she won’t talk to you until it’s complete.
Oh oh. I did this and paniced. I learned the recipes on my Weaponsmith by accident.
Go to speak to Cymbel on a different character and she’ll give the recipe again.
I’m interested in joining. Send me an in game email and I’ll get back to you.
This has never happened. No one gets replaced in un/ranked with a new player.
People can just relog a different character or they stay offline, intentionally or not.
You need to have a crude leather book ready to give to her.
She also has to have her hounds. So if an event to rescue her hounds is up, she won’t talk to you.
Played just 3 matches yesterday. 1 win 2 losses. The losses were due to same mistakes, not rotating, bad positioning. They also felt the need to 4v2 on home point… In both matches, with totally different players. Not forgetting the Druid who went straight for the beast in Niflhel too leaving us on mid with a “dps ele”. Good stuff.

No. The treb does enough damage and I’d prefer to keep it as a secondary mechanic to the map.
They drop in a few places, as obscure as they are. And are from certain map rewards which changes weekly. This week you can get them from brisbane wildlands.
I think they supply for these are fine at the moment, I think there’s a lot of people that hoard mats and put them up slowly so don’t get too negative about the supply.
You want to know why so many players don’t use or can’t figure CC out?
Because it’s called CC. Crowd Control. Which most logical, reasoning people who don’t spend all their time gaming would take to mean controlling crowds, such as blowing back boss ADDS, or controlling the field of battle such that crowds of enemies don’t interfere during a burn phase or somesuch.
Using Crowd Control to break a “breakbar” on a single boss enemy makes no rational sense. GW2’s interface and instructions do not do an adequate job of explaining to players what enemies do, what affects them, etc. And it’s been this way since launch, with ANet’s idea of a minimal interface and excessive battle pyrotechnics from all professions.
A more concise description could read: “Use Status Control Effects to stun Enemy and take more damage.” Skill tool tips in game could actually say what effect they’d have on a Breakbar if any, or those skills could have a differently colored background or would highlight an enemy translucent blue if it affects the breakbar, etc.
If you’re going to have a minimal interface and no tutorial, along with a frantic combat system where one hit KOs occur frequently, you can’t expect players to Alt-Tab to search the Wiki for the encounter they’re currently in. It’s poor game design to have to consult a reference manual, unless you’re playing flight sims.
This is an MMO, if we had tutorials on absolutely everything the game would be incredibly cluttered. These are far too big to detail everthing down to the t. That’s just how the MMO games work.
So that’s what patch notes are for. To explain changes and additions to content. That’s what the wiki is for, to define mechanics and/or give in-depth information about practically everything in game.
If you don’t at least read patch notes then the problem of not knowing lies with the player, not the game.
Defiance bars are not exactly rocket science to figure out. “I used a knockback on this foe, it didn’t work but that blue bar decreased. Let’s do it again. It’s turned orange the beast is stunned, and I’m doing more damage at the moment. Ok then”
The defiance bar replaced the Unshakeable stance many enemies had, with a couple of anomalies. This was to add circumstances where crowd control effects can effect higher tier enemies. Anything that would control what an enemy can or can’t do is crowd control. I thought this was obvious and you didn’t need excessive tooltips for.

Hmm what? Fantasy themed degrees?
He’s having a dig at Fahrenheit I assume.
Must be. We all know Lord Fahren discovered it. XD
