To avoid Skyhammer and Spirit Watch? Of course.
This all over. Shame Temple is still in ranked, really do not like that map/mechanic.
I actually prefer ranked over unranked. I like the competition, and even on losses I try to figure out what I could do better next time.
It isn’t the matchmaking’s fault it’s this mish-mash of a reward track system for a league that some people mistake for a ladder is the fault.
It’s not matchmaking. You can’t say mm is working perfectly then as soon as you get losing matches it’s not.
This is a player issue, not playing better at your chosen profession as you move up the tiers is a problem. How do you get better? By failing and looking at what you could do better. It’s very simple trial and error on your part.
I could point out everything wrong in the OPs video but pretty much everything has already been said, but other than the start match checks and boon stacking, I can’t say much because I haven’t pvp’d on ele for over a year.
What to do now? Learn from it.
Video above on necro, I’m 3 mins in and can still see faults which could turn the tide in the match.
- you still take the long way around to mid on a slow profession.
- you still jump straight into the point without any shroud built up as a defense.
- you used your heal skill (which blinds you) when you had 95%hp. Why?
- you shrouded for stomp but didn’t pop the skill 3 which gives stability, the enemy interrupts you and then you get knocked back. That could have changed that node fight.
- you wander around off point, with low health giving the enemy a free kill.
-again shroud stability would have helped that ress on home point.
-you spend too long trying to place wurm instead on looking around for the enemy incoming on mid.
-the far push was miscalculated by you, as enemies were incoming on mid, you walk straight into them still in combat from mid point fight. Yet still push ahead and die as soon as you get to their home node where their necro is.

I love the reward track booster idea depending on division! That will keep me in ranked, something that makes ranked better than unranked when you have found your ‘home division’.
Offering sunless weapons and cultural armor however, is a bit much imo. They should be obtained the way they are now.
I wouldn’t mind a way to get ascended armor/weapon boxes as a guarantee in PvP however, since many PvE people can farm Vale guardian to cap their magnetite shards and farm ascended too. Swings and roundabouts my friends.

Questions:
- Kyhlo’s treb:
- Do we consider it a swing mechanic?
- What do we think of it being up all the time?
- Does it need to be reworked to make it fit “periodic secondary mechanics”, and if yes how would you change it?
- Is the treb fine as is, and why?
- Would we want to have secondary mechanics that are up all the time in future maps?
Kyhlo is probably my favourite map, and the trebuchet is a great tool for it. When played well, you get your mid cap using treb, then join your team in the fight occasionally returning to blast a few more treb rounds off onto a contested mid point if an enemy player hasn’t already gone to destroy it, leaving their team 4v5 while they do this on an empty treb. When not played well is when it gets camped by one person who can’t defend it, rotate it, aim it etc.
Baiting your enemy to come destroy it to out number them in field is your best play, if they can’t avoid the damage/knockback. In my last dozen or so Khylo games, it was rare that one goes for the treb to start with, staying as 4 strong on mid or 2home 3far as surprise, works better than using the treb to secure a mid cap. In some of them, both trebs were completely untouched. I don’t know how these matches look in lower divisions/with newer people, but I’m sure someone else will give their thoughts.
With the fact that the treb can be dodged and destroyed, makes it a secondary mechanic which can be overcome, but the damage may have to be balanced as you would balance professions, in a glass meta, the treb is devastating, in a hybrid (high sustain, mid-high damage) meta like we are now, it could be considered weak, the only effectiveness being the knockback/interrupt.
I suppose we could alter how the treb works, ie, instead of player controlled, it’s AI, aiming for one random enemy node, once a supply drop (treb repair atm) is returned to an ammunition holding, essentially charging the treb, ready to fire.
Or keeping it a player controlled tool, we changed what the projectile does. Implementing different rounds, for example Flash rounds which blinds enemies, but on a longer cooldown. If this was implemented, removing the trebuchet standard knockback to just a damaging shrapnel would have to happen to keep it a secondary mechanic.
Or we could completely remove the treb and have a pure conquest map with no secondary mechanic at all. Which would be fine too.
Tl;dr: Treb is good if your team is good, treb is bad if your team is bad. I guess removing the treb is better for solo queuers, adjusting it is better for team queuers. So doing anything to it at this point may upset some people either way.

No. Those achievements don’t add onto the previous. You need to cross 10 divisions in total to complete all 4 parts.
I have a love hate relationship with Skyham.
My suggestions would be:
-Improve the jump pads to get you to the finish location better/quicker.
-Make the A and C cap points larger and move the glass panels slightly further out from them.
-Remove the weird bridging on all nodes that messes up camera positioning. Possibly add in low glass walls for point B that shatter when the Skyhammer hits them. (Low walls=No weird camera on mid point)
-Skyhammer target diameter is too big. It should be no bigger than the size of the white circled cap points themselves. Along with the other suggestions that it should not knock down enemy players. A short interrupt is sufficient.
-Remove the teleport door to skyhammer platform. Add in 2-3 jump pads that throw you to the platform, landing in different locations.
-Move Skyhammer platform closer to the main map itself. Make the platform larger, remove 2 glass panes but make the remaining 2 slightly larger.
I want this to still be a conquest map. A PvP map, not a “camp the seige” and win. The Skyhammer should be used tactfully, not as a be-all-and-all of this map.
- Do you think secondary mechanics should ALL be swing mechanics or can there be some maps secondary mechanics that are more focused on snowballing the match?
I don’t think any secondary mechanic should snowball a match in an extreme way, to still allow for a comeback. Lets not forget this is supposed to be Player verses Player
With how many times people ask for the ability to duel, 2v2/3v3 arena and real team death match, it should ring bells about secondary mechanics in conquest maps. On another note, please rework the lords in Legacy. They are abysmal.
my phone keeps autocorrecting Skyhammer to Skywalker. Just thought I’d let you all know…

Tyria Mastery - After last mastery pt RESET
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Haleydawn.3764
Your screen looks normal to me. You need 8 Mastery points to learn the Advanced Logistics in Pact commander, and you only have 5 available Tyria mastery points to spend. So you need to get 3 more points in Tyria.
It’s Learning Fractal mastery now because that’s all that’s left, you wont lose the experience progression in the Pact commander line if you can’t spend the points on it yet.How can my screen “look normal” when the mastery for Pact Commander is now completely GRAYED OUT? There is no access to it.
It is completely grayed out because you can not earn anymore experience in that line. You will be able to learn it once you have the mastery points available for it. Yes, your screen looks normal as it is not displaying anything to assume it is bugged.
As posted above, count all of your earned points and compare it to what you have available and have already spent.
Have you tried earning another mastery point to see if it goes from 5 to 6/8? Then it would be confirmed it was an oversight on your part. Since as posted above again, mastery points do not disappear.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I can’t compare s1 to s2 since I didn’t take part in s1 due to life etc only doing unranked for guild missions. I have pvpd casually for the last 3yrs however.
I’m just happy you can’t Smurf your way up this season as you could last. The main thing putting me off last season was that.
I’ve only solo queued, only just managing the 3 daily games Mon-Fri, but have more time on saturdays and have reached Diamond this season.

I’d really like some existing wing back items to be made into gliders, like the temporal blade back items. They took effort to make and even more so now due to how slack it is to get blade shards, the added glider skin would be great.
Teneborous/Shimmering craftable back items/gliders. Maybe using Tailor/Leatherwork/Armorsmith.
Phoenix wing glider. Fiery and awesome, would suit Warriors and elementalists.
Parachute glider. Would look great with the jungle explorer outfit or in general really.
Celestial glider, like white energy “wings” with light orb trails.
You have to obtain the wings/precursor and the Gift of the Competitor this year (finish the 4 meta achievements). The other two gifts will remain.
It is not out of reach just yet, just work your way through the daily 3 games and the rest should fall into place if you multiclass.
I like time trial PvP breach- attack/defend maps (like Strand of the Ancients – WoW. No, stronghold is not a good substitute) and real resource races, where nodes decap themselves over time (Arathi Basin – WoW).
I have deleted:
80 Asura Necromancer, she would already have her 3rd birthday by now, 400 chef. Deleted due to lack of armor that looks great on light asuras, all that worked at the time was Arah armor. Remade Sylvari Necro. Considering remaking the Asura necro with a new slot instead.
80 Human Thief, would be 3 too. She had 100% map and 500 Weaponsmithing too. Deleted because running animation changed slightly, her running with Incinerators looked ridiculous to me. So she had to go, remade Norn Thief and never been happier. Regained the craft and map completion in no time.
It’s always best to get comfy with 3-4 professions, so you can swap out if your team is missing something. It’s something you will get used to because unless you are premade you will rarely get a perfect team composition in soloqueue. So ele, rev, necro, scrapper and circumstantial mesmer/thief for decaps and +1s. When you load in, check team comp, is it missing something. Yes, relog. No, you’re golden.
What goes well with 4 necros, ele, druid, rev or another necro because why not.

Avg wait 1min 50s. Was waiting 10+mins then decided to leave queue, queue then pops up to accept 10secs after leaving the queue, only to vanish with queue abandoned dialogue.
HoTM chat with several people experiencing lots of issues with trapped matches and missing scores/pips etc.
Wth is going on? oO
The first achievement is 1 threshold, then 2,3,4. They don’t add onto the next achievement, meaning in total for all 4 parts, you need to cross 10 thresholds. (1-3-6-10, part I-IV)
For the Champion and elite achievements you need to have finished the previous 2 meta achievements for it to progress.

I didn’t realise a characters gender was a big thing to be honest. Does it really matter?
Why not both? Some like them, some are indifferent, others are annoyed that they don’t have the opportunity to atleast get into the raid, probably down to a few factors like their guild or ridiculous lfrg requirements that people post.
The difference with games like WoW is that raids and maybe Arenas are the determined end game with the gear grind that comes with it.
With GW2 the raid isn’t necessary to play any content of the game, since the best gear is not exclusive to it. However, I think it’s a bad move to hold off on Living Story and world events for so long. At the moment, there’s not a lot of new content for casual players right now and people are getting bored. Yes we can play in the 4 new areas still, can go through the HoT story again. Can do fractals, but because there is no treadmill like in WoW, 4 months since HoT release is a long time Without any filler content. Wows treadmill gives their players something to do. I do not want this for gw2, I want the non raiders to have something to do.
Currently I’ve been back into PvP, first time of being in HoTM permanently for over a year, for the league since there’s not much in PvE that I want to do/get right now.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
+1 for this! At least it should be a hidden figure if awarded rank pts are some part down to this number. I saw one person whining about another in my team who only scored 60pts but kept 2 of the enemy busy the whole time, we still won the match so dunno why he even bothered mentioning points. I’d say keeping their team outnumbered on other nodes by 1v2 on another node is just as useful as speed decapping far, it’s just one gets more personal score than the other. That and it breeds the above behaviour.
The bug is that when you equip them they become account bound (different item code), which the treasury doesn’t (but should!) recognise.
I like to think of them more as flavour text for your character, no matter how easy/hard/expensive they were to obtain. For example, I may be rank 80, but my Necro still uses the Reaper title, my Revenant Mist Walker and my Guardian Avenger. So I like that there’s a reasonable amount of titles to obtain.
I think the only ones worth a bit of recognition for sticking to a goal and pushing are the Champion X titles. Shame the rank titles are so easily farmed now in custom, removing the effort for them. They now mean a lot less than what they should, this coming from someone who has never rank farmed for these titles.

Now people are getting PvP legendary backpack
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Haleydawn.3764
The only argument I’ve seen as ‘proof’ that A net puts more resources into PvP than PvE is the fact that PvE content is not officially streamed? Seriously. What about all of the ready ups and Points of Interest episodes about upcoming events/features in game? Without ruining the experience for people wanting to try the game out, you can’t really stream anything else.
As loose a term as e-sport is for how PvP competition has been the last year, competitive scenes sell. There’s nothing competitive about PvE
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
It could work but I don’t think exponential increase is a good idea.
Why not
+ 1
+ 1
+ 1 + 1
+ 1 + 2 thereafter until losing match.

PvP was ignored for nearly 3yrs xD
In those 3 yrs before HoT, we saw 2-3 new maps, 2 of which have been removed from un/ranked, 1 removed altogether. And no new game mode until HoT arrived, and I dare say Stronghold isn’t as popular as hoped.
So, you can’t wait to finish another legendary in PvE. I get that. But PvE was and is far from ignored. It’s time the devs actually showed it’s PvP player base some love. I wish they could listen to the WvW players as much as the PvE players.
All I want are my shattered Dragon wings that got lost in the wardrobe transition.
What if every legendary level player are making smurf accounts just to mess with you guys?
Because that’s not how the system works now. Your team will be formed based on your mmr, your opponents will be formed based on their pip range to you.
Duo+ queuers will be formed based on the highest mmr in the party and I’m assuming highest pip value too. Would be nice if we could get clarification on the latter point though.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Yes me too just now. Match was just about to load us in then the game crashed, got back in within 20-30secs and now I can’t requeue due to “Match in Progress”
Option to turn off allies name plates in party/raid/squad. This would be amazing since your screen gets so cluttered doing HoT meta events.
Sequentially removing decorations quickly results in crashes too. Both in regular and arena hall space.
No to taking other peoples names. Get creative.
Dungeons and fractals have lfg tabs. Maybe post stating you’re going for achievements to get other people looking for the same thing. I’ve seen a couple over the last month or two.
Gw2 community (EU)regularly organise triple trouble and tequatl. They have a website with more info on. I’m unsure of what there is on US servers since I don’t play on them, but I bet there are big groups that do the same thing.
Join a guild and ask someone to help you. Not everyone will do something for no reward but there are others that like to help.
As I said apart from the Wicked Rodeo and obviously the dungeons which I pugged, I solod my achievements like many others did.
Easier said than done as many of central tyria points are locked behind ridiculous 100+ hr achievements.
To OP hopefully they add the option at some point. Personally I’m not using mastery points even with maxed out xp lines as I want to save them incase a more useful line comes along.
100+hrs for a few achievements? LS2 achievements are pretty easy apart from maybe 1, where I had to grab a guildie to give me a hand (wicked rodeo). I’ve not completed any of these expensive achievements or collected coins in DT/SW yet my masteries are maxed with points to spare. Look harder for where to earn more points as there are more earnable than spendable.
I for one hope they don’t add this option since gaining the points for the masteries isn’t as hard as it is being made out to be. As well as what penelopehannibal has said.
You need to set the druid elite line in your 3rd specialization slot.
My guild is 100 people. 5-10 active. 3-5 donating and we’re guild level 48.
Our guild is mainly a home for our communtity of gamers that have known each other over the last ten years. Hence all of the inactives who havent logged for over 2yrs.
The only difference is between your guild and any other guild is how much time/effort you put into building the hall. This will determine how quickly or slowly you build it. Not that your guild will never build it.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Only titles from achievements which have a crown and the name of the title are selectable for display. None of the various ones you earn in you personal story count.
No. Just rebuilds the area and gives you 5 scribe tables.
It does look nice though.
The game would lose it’s T rating and go upto M. Yes other games do it but then it would become a bit more sensitive to consumers hence the rating would change and lock out younger audiences. Not that it would stop younger people getting a hold of the game anyway.
Still unethical.
This is unethical.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I think it would be unethical to have child character models as playable.
Also, wrong subforum.
Yes please!
/15 Charrs want to note down member birthdays etc
Can we get an option to show/hide party and squad ally nameplates?
Out of comfort and clutter I play with nameplates off. Cluttered screens give me headaches so I now choose not to join squads for content, leaving me open to endless squad invite spam.
They’re awarded from achievement milstones. First one being 29,000 points.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Still a little bug. Barrier seems to be on(Active) permanently, deactivating the barrier doesn’t work until you click the Activate barrier option first, even if it’s already up.
Edit: This also resets your choice when you leave/re-enter the hall, needing to go through 2-step to deactivate again.
Also, while adding decorations to the arena, if someone else is in there, obstacles and traps take effect on you, even though you are there as a non-combatant. While alone you are indomitable. Dunno if this is a bug or not. Seems like a bug.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I actually quite like this idea, like a second hand market for high value items. The only issue would be the wardrobe.
This has always bugged me. “Staffs” just sound and feel weird rolling off the tongue in reference to said items. Dunno, maybe it’s because I’m English.
All guild hall arena decorations are bugged at the moment, including the ring out barrier. Has been for nearly a month. Sucks because we’ve unlocked quite a few more since we found out about the bug, and can’t use them yet . ><
Thanks for the FYI’s. I didn’t realize that I’d have to go to Tangled Depths to unlock a mastery that would help with a boss in VB. Oh, well.
Yeah, it’s kind of a questionable bit of game design. The fact that the game doesn’t actually tell you how to stop his insta-kill move doesn’t help either. I had to look it up on the wiki. I mean, it’s just “break his break bar” like pretty much all HoT bosses, but it leaves a bad impression when you show up to a fight and then just die mysteriously.
I didn’t realise you have to go to TD to train Nuhoch Stealth Detection. Oh wait, you don’t.
You have to visit Tangled Depths to unlock the nuhoch mastery track.
You can start training the Nuhoch line instantly in HoT as long as you at least visit the relevant map, you don’t need to do anything else to unlock/train it so it’s hardly an issue.

Did you loot the chest? Not just the boss, as it drops in his chest.
To above, the Dredge Cogs collection item should be 100% drop rate if you are on the respective collection unlock. You’re thinking of the Commisar’s Manifesto, not the item the OP is on about.
