Adding someone to try to speak to them when/if they log on does not mean they are stalking.
Adding someone to your friends list and asking them once if they would let you have/buy the name is not harassment. If you continue to pursue the person after being told no, and asked to stop then there would be cause for reporting. But reporting someone for adding you to their friends list, what exactly do you file that report under?
Back on topic!
The thing I don’t understand. These names even if freed would only be available for 1 person… Thus solving VERY FEW peoples issue with getting them.
/Back on topic
You apparently did not read the OP’s post, hes perma tracking 50 people for their names. Since when is that normal behaviour? Furteron, i did not say people need to be always reported for adding someone to the friend list, i suggested an acknowledge option, so the player has control over who can add him to their friendlist. This prevents that harrasing (immature) players can add people to their friend list and track them.
Agreed. I think the “Following” list should be removed and adding people as friends should be a mutual thing, also getting the option to block future requests from people but not the person themselves.
Back on topic.
If anyone whispered or mailed me requesting one of my names with a price they want to pay, I’d instantly block them.
I’m not overall fussed about the AR requirements of Fractals, since you can get to +70 with just the versatile infusions in all ascended gear.
I do like the idea of being able to double click the +1’s to account bind the AR as an account bonus like magic/gold find. But then you’d have to sort out those who combined their +1s retroactively.
Instead of revoking inactive account character names, easier solution would be actually to modify the character creation screen. Enable a “confirmation” check that the character name is not in use (on the last creation page). That way, players can play around and test ideas without full commitment and end up creating “A Kitten” as their character name.
Um, you can just try to whisper the name before creating the character. If you get an error message, the name is available.
A quality of life UI change would be better. There are some older mmorpg that have this option, always curious why GW2 don’t have it. Additionally, new players wouldn’t know you can utilize this trick. In other games, whispering offline players would also say “error”. Most new players won’t even be aware you could use accent letters until they’re ingame.
All it would take is for a little green tick to appear next to you “signature” in charater creation to see if the name was available.
I’m in for this idea.
I have names that I got when the game released that are great names…exactly what I wanted. The new characters I create…not so much. I have to struggle to find names that “work” for me so I understand the frustration. All that said, I still prefer to have no recycling of names. I would rather have to struggle and work for new ones than to have a system where you are at risk of losing names because of inactivity.
I have renamed characters within the last year, and characters that are only a year or so old, and have still gotten the names I want, 2 of which are one word, none accented names for Sylvari.
The whole issue for some people is their own creativity, or lack thereof.
You wouldn’t be punished for originality. If you have not logged in for 2 entire years straight you are most definitely not entitled to sit on 3, 4, or 5 letter unaccented names especially if you are too lazy to spend one second to log in once in TWO years.
And you are not entitled to take those names because you can’t muster enough creativity to think of something not taken already.
It looks like the concept art of the weapons before gw2 even released, I guess they just decided to change the colour scheme of them. Maybe because Faolain is a mesmer, and pink/purple are mesmer colours. Idrk
The weapons actually in game, have a green/natural look to them in their icons, but are pink/purple in the flesh.
Twilight Arbor models, not the same colour though :P would be nice to see some new models, rather than recycled stuff.
Everyone seems to think that because some games purge after 1-2 years, Guild Wars 2 needs to aswell.
I think even World Of Warcraft only purged after 7 years, and it wasn’t an automated one. And they had less names choices because having a space was not an option.
It’s all boiling down to people not being creative anymore, and wanting everything because.
You want peoples character names to be taken away from them because you can’t be more creative with your names, basically.
No. People take long breaks, and life happens, people should be able to log in to what they had, without the possibility of there being a notification that their name was purged for someone else to use, and have to choose new names.
Not going to happen.
Turrets are mediocre in PvE, and barely viable in PvP anymore, they’re fun though.
im looking at the engineer how is he ?
Engineers are great but can be a lot to take on with the kit swap mechanic, fantastic as full damage or condition.
I love all of them because they all have their good points.
To start with though, I’d recommend warrior, ranger or necromancer, just to get into the combat system and how it’s designed to work, these professions are the least squishiest and are easy to learn.
My personal favourites though, are my first character which is my Mesmer, and my Thief.
I earned these, but they aren’t unlocked in my wardrobe for reasons unknown, I was pretty sure I unlocked them in the PvP locker instead of PvE. What about us, because I’m assuming I’m not the only one who earned them and doesn’t have this priviledge of using the item whenever. Prestige is an imagined thing, AP is enough to be able to see how long some has been playing.
I have a few items that aren’t obtainable anymore that I still use (Bunny Ears, full Stalwart but mainly the shoulders I use), but I’ll welcome when they bring them back because telling people they can’t obtain them all the time is annoying. Stop thinking because you have some form of pixel that other people shouldn’t be able to have them either.
Too many things to list in one post. Highlights are the combat both for PvP and PvE, event system, co-op nature of play, the character customisation and development and the attention to detail. I even like the loading screens, a lot of them for a few maps and personal stories are beautiful, some in dark or ominous ways but I love it.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
You need to be traited for Grenadier for it to take effect.
They said they would still be obtainable from the mystic forge, but that they would still be account bound.
Did they? Where?
I rerolled my Asura necro last year, she was a year old.
Recently though I re rolled my thief, she was nearly 2 yrs old, she had 100% map and 500 weaponsmith. I couldn’t stand the look of human animation anymore, it all started when I made The Incinerator, then the running animation while wielding them was amplified because of the size of the daggers. I couldn’t take it, especially after the human idle animations were altered. So I salvaged everything I could on her, threw her acc bount items into the bank, and deleted her. Best decision ever.
I rerolled a Norn Thief and I’ve loved it ever since, took me 44hrs game time to get her to 100% again and she’s sat at 470 weaponsmithing.
Before you decide to delete though, really think about it, I mean Charr Necros can look incredibly evil with the right armor combo.
Gl!
A work around from the wiki is to revisit the Chantry of Secrets, if it still doesn’t pop up, revisit every map.
Still a bug regardless
Because Mesmer phantasms don’t wield daggers, which is where they are from.
Nope, cba to source but this is on par with race change. It wont happen.
Edit to clarify more, your profession is programmed into the personal story, and some parts of the LS as I witnessed on my Engineer, to “undo” what you did would detract from character building which Anet doesn’t really want you to do.
Delete what you want to redo and use tomes to level up, your names when you delete your characters are bound to you for about 24hrs.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
Dailies aren’t actually neccessary to do unless you want 10ap, because the old dailies are now what we know as the log in rewards.
I really like the new dailies and they don’t take as long as you all make out they do. Yesterday I did my whole daily in PvE (shocker, I know), Fields of Ruins events, and I waypointed once because running to find events was far easier then waiting for people to ping nearly completed events.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
That’s how some people choose to run their game. Not a design fault, it’s just “quicker”, the faster it’s done the better for some people.
What I would like to see is some sort of Enrage mechanic to most if not all bosses which would give a proper place to those taking a front line in dungeons or wanting to support their party. Will that actually happen though? Probably not.
I suggest making your own lfgs.
I personally take whoever is online in my guild dungeoning, setups including whatever people want to play, necro, “healer” Guards or eles, bearbows. I don’t care, it’s all for fun for some people so you might be surprised who you find.
I agree though, The Emperor needs better tracking on it. I’m hoping a dev is reading this.
Make sure you are buying 1 set from tier one, 1 set from tier 2, and one set from tier 3. Multiple sets from the same tier wont progress the achievement.
And the tier one chest is now a personal story reward so if you got it from there it wont count either.
On average in my usual game time per evening, I get probably 10 shards per day. Not gaining them from levelling past 80 was balanced by them dropping from random mobs. That’s quite fair. And we’ll gain Mastery Points in HoT 80+, it’s just that system being in place ready took priority over you gaining 1 Shard in the mean time.
Although I had a stockpile of them due to silverwastes and PvP tracks.
I’m nearing on 3k Spirit Shards. I need not worry about 1 from 80+ dings.
I’d like it if they removed the norn transformations from Elites and made them a purely cosmetic skill which lets you use your own weapon, armor stats, runes etc. I’d stay in Snow leopard form on my thief and bear on my guardian and warrior ;_;
Never going to happen. This has never happened in any Mmo to my knowledge.
Well, to be fair, it doesn’t have to happen, in a game like WoW, because you can queue for a dungeon without having gone to the dungeon entrance (or even the zone) first, on foot.
In guild wars 2, we don’t, since the dungeons are story plotted, which is in keeping with area and personal story.
In WoW, they programmed their LFG to work as it does, because, like Guild Wars 2 it fits the gamestyle. Gw2 lfg you have far more control by being able to type what you need for a specific dungeon.
30mins to get all of the important waypoints, is not really a big deal. Stop trying to make out it is.
Bunny ears > all.
Or add a PVP reward that allows a player to unlock a single WP(all WPs will be visible but greyed out until unlocked).
Maybe something like this? Although honestly completing a full reward track would probably be more time consuming than just running to the map/
Was thinking more of a purchasable one with honor instead of track. Ofc sPvP would need a currency then.
Mm, no. Glory was the PvP currency and it was removed last year.
We should be able to buy rank finishers/Potions of PvP Reward with Karma then, if you want to simply buy waypoints.
Just run to them, it doesn’t take long to get to the dungeon/world boss waypoints.
People are just being lazy, wanting to buy their way instead of getting it a normal way.
Never going to happen. This has never happened in any Mmo to my knowledge. Just because your characters are on the same account doesn’t mean they should “know” what each other knows. They are all independant, with their stories and exploration. It’s like asking for an instant level 80 on creation because you have a level 80. Or buying one set of tier 3 cultural armor should unlock all tier 3 cultural armor. Where do you draw the line?
I saw a post saying to run and get all the neccessary waypoints for dungeons took this guy like 25mins on a mesmer, before they got better swiftness uptime.
If you’re thinking it will go to consoles, don’t hold your breath, last I knew that idea was scrapped.
And multiplatform experience against platform APIs doesn’t neccessarily mean gw2 is going to console, or any other platform for that matter, since you need that programming for online gaming anyway.
I do hope they work on the Mac/Linux clients though, I have a PC but not everyone does.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
I sympathise with you OP. I have a Charr Engineer, I hate trench coats and skirts + tail clipping with nearly all of them.
I use the Order of Whispers chest, but recently bought the Exemplar outfit, which he now uses because it has no skirt/trench/very little tail clip.
They all work differently. Especially initiative.
Bring back 8v8 servers with a x% reduced stat “debuff”.
I miss them :< and RotC
As I personally have a rare one word name I’d hate this personally. It’s the name I picked for me not everyone else
I have 2 one word names for Sylvari, and 6 more characters with unique names which are more or less lore encorporated. None of my names have any foreign characters to “make it work” either.
Leave our names alone OP!
Better solution. Get more creative with your names. They should be unique. I’ve made 20 or so key farm characters in the last week, using different names for all of them, only once did I get the pop up that the name was taken.
(edited by Haleydawn.3764)
You don’t have to dismiss the second window before you pop another tome btw. It just updates the upcoming window each time, so when you’re done clicking through the rewards you only have the one upcoming box to close.
But if you level normally, an extra click every level is hardly something extreme.
Sure thing! I play most evenings.
<—Just add my game tag to your friend list and I’ll /w you tonight.
You’re tripping.
First forging on my necro last month got me The Legend. Second got me another one.
RNG at it’s finest.
Oh great, the classic pixel argument.
Yes, because it’s very applicable here.
I have nothing against them bringing back tribal or stalwart through means in which they were originally obtained, rank gated pvp.
HOWEVER, they should also bring back ALL of the other items which are no longer obtainable without huge amounts of gold on the TP. All the halloween skins, molten jetpack, wings of the sunless, shattered holographic dragon wings, Monocle head item, etcetc. If you guys want to take away prestige for PvPers lets make it fair and remove it for PvEers too. Lets see how many agree to that.
You’d lose that bet. I’d say deal.
And I have the Devil Horns. Honestly, I could care less if other people had them. I’d give it to every and anyone who asked if I could. I’m not even pulling your leg. I rather see people have it and customize their character to be unique.
But again, I’m aware that’s a personal thing. Even with that said, I’ve never been that guy to say “nyah, nyah! I got this thing and you don’t!”
The exact same thing happened in another MMO I played: DC Universe Online. The original Batman skin was only for Year 1 Collector’s Edition buyers. I have it. But because of legal reasons, Daybreak Games can’t release it for everyone else. I HATE that. It’s not fair. There are people who play that game MUCH more then I do now and have put in 10x the money AND the time into the game, but they can’t have that Legends character and I can. I think it’s total BS. And if it was in my power, I’d give it to them.
To be fair, the situation is a bit different here. Legal issues hold back Daybreak Games. They don’t with ArenaNet.
Some people seem to be mistaking my perspective here.
I’ve said above, I don’t feel any prestige about anything in this game. This will most likely change with new legendaries.
I don’t care if this set is brought back or not either. Or any other unobtainable item for that matter. I only have 1 piece of Tribal armor, I have the Stalwart set, and those Bunny Ears all those other people want too. Bring them back, I wont bat an eyelid. Although I have rolled my eyes continuously at this thread and peoples desperation, over PIXELS.
But being realistic, it’s not going to happen before HoT. Anet have said all resourses are going into it and the occasional balance patch which are deemed neccessary. Re-releasing these unobtainable armors are not high on the priority, because there will be a domino effect of begging for all unobtainable skins to be added into the game. Like the ones I listed further up there^ and more.
Like I said up there too, you didn’t obtain it, oh well move on to the next fad.
Items are added and removed from many games ALL the time, people need to just deal with it. You missed an opportunity, oh well. Move on to the next fad.
yeah, exactly!
theres plenty of amazing PVE items that i missed because i’m a PVPer,
and i’m perfectly fine dealing with that, while i envy them for having things like wings of the sunless, they earned their reward, they can keep them!BULL you knew those PVE items were going to be missed after the event and chose not to get it. Most people who wanted tribal didnt know it was going to be fully removed fro the game once they made the changes. I admit if i knew it would have been fully removed i wouldve spent abit more time in pvp
Surely with the fact you could only obtain them in PvP, from either the PvP forge or the rank boxes, that would mean that anyone who even cared for this set KNEW you would not be able to obtain it after the wardrobe update too, since they removed both the PvP forge AND the PvP rank boxes, to merge the system.
It was included into the blog posts at the time before the patch and in the patch notes at the time.
“PvP Gear Unification:
All PvP equipment (armor, weapons, amulets, etc.) can no longer be obtained or equipped.
Upon entering Heart of the Mists, players will have their PvP items removed from their character inventory, character equipment, PvP locker, and account bank. This includes PvP chests.
All removed items will have their appearance unlocked in the account wardrobe.”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-15-2014/first#post3895822
Existing PvP skins will still have value with upcoming changes, so it benefits you greatly to continue filling out your collection.

I agree. Engis should atleast keep aura and footfalls while weilding a kit.
Any prof with a legendary that picks up a bundle loses the effects which I hate.
Titles are far too easy to get as they are, putting them onto Personal Story is a bit ridiculous. Titles should reward effort, not be handed out for something extremely simple. I do have an issue with the already easy to get titles, but hey there’s plenty others that require effort.
My next issue would be since the whole achievement system is account bound it’s going to be a huge amount of time to program it to be character bound.
In essence, bad idea.
I have obbys coming out of my ears from Silverwastes chests.
Also, do tequatl once a day atleast, that’s about 17k karma with the booster/banner buff.
Mmm, I’ve never had this problem, and I don’t have these swanky bags that hides stuff either. The colour or even the name of the item alone is enough for me to spot that I really shouldn’t vendor said item.
If you guys want to take away prestige for PvPers lets make it fair and remove it for PvEers too. Lets see how many agree to that.
and then nothing is special.
i want the oldschool PVEers to keep their unobtainables
and for us oldschoole PVPers to keep ours.there is very little prestige in GW2 at the moment,
legendaries?! there is nothing legendary about them, go to a regular hangout spot and you’ll see 15 guys using the same “legendary”.
the only small facets of prestige comes from items that are no longer obtainable,
you had to be there to get them.people should stop seeing unobtainable items as a downside,
they’re something to make the game worth playing,
for instance i’ve not really bothered with S2 “unique items” because i already know they aren’t going to be rewarding, special, or prestigious they’ll be available from a laurel vendor or by other trivial means.
I’m very neutral about the prestige, I wont care if they’re brought back or not. This is where I think you missed my point/sarcasm at the end. I’m English, I do sarcasm well. My end point was that if the tables were turned, a huge amount of players would not want the items I listed to ever become available again, (more so than people that got the Tribal set) because they either obtained the items, or they understand that they were rare, one opportunity items. And that’s fine too.
Items are added and removed from many games ALL the time, people need to just deal with it. You missed an opportunity, oh well. Move on to the next fad.

Something I posted in another thread like this.
I love the new daily system, it’s simple and easy and I get mine done within 10-15mins, regardless of the choices. If you don’t get your AP then the self limitation is on you, not Anet. There’s so many easy dailies that pop up every day that you can’t not get it done. Like:
- 50 rank points (PvP)
- Point capture… 1 point cap (PvP)
- Reward Earner (PvP)
- Forager, Logging, Miner
- Big Spender (WvW)
- Master of Ruins (WvW)
- Daily Mystic Forger.
- Vista.
- Land Claimer (WvW)Usually, there is a combination of these above available everyday.
They revamped the daily/removed monthly, for a few reasons. One of the big ones being that WvW/PvP had 2 options each, meaning they would have to go out of their way to get their Laurel. PvPers more so than WvWers.
This system is a big compromise, and it is working far better than the old system.
