In this case, the vast majority aren’t seeing the issues the OP described, which suggests an issue on the OP’s side: rig, internal network|wireless|cable, ISP, or even the ISP’s ISP. (Some ISPs will throttle service for some users some of the time.)

Good catch! Prime time ISP throttling can reap havoc on Adsl interwebs.

If it’s Anets problem, everyone would have lagged out/DC’d.
Get a hoover in your PC, make sure it’s running as cool as possible, did this the other day myself and my temps dropped under heavy load.

By hoover I hope you don’t mean vacuum… That would be very bad for your PC…

I use it on my dust filters :P then pressured air inside.

6 World completions done. 5 done when WvW was needed, didn’t bother keeping track back then. 7th at 80%.

Quickest was 44hrs 23mins, while still having 3-5 hrs or so on that character to PvP

Stalwart's Shoulders (skin)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I got the whole set, plus a piece or two of the Tribal armor set, because I PvP’d for it.

You only needed a few materials to make Stalwart in the PvP Mystic Forge too, not even needing a high rank.

I do want them to put all of the unobtainable PvP skins into a reward track, but I think the end box of it should be RNG as to which of the unobtainable skins you get from selecting “Boot Box” “Shoulder Box” etc. Since it was RNG to get them out of the PvP Mystic Forge to begin with.

They’ll be back eventually. Since Anet has unlimited stock of these pixel items all they need is higher demand, to create urgency to buy them = More people will buy gems with irl money = More revenue for Anet. Most likely with a timer on them, the wings were 24hrs only each.

Best use for Forward/Back buttons on mouse?

I kept dodge on V so i can do the cool jump dodge thing by just mashing V + spacebar with my thumb together.

Same here, looks so much more acrobatic doing that. Plus, dodge is so close to jump anyway it makes no sense to move it when there’s far better uses for two extra mouse buttons. (I have all my skills on my Razer Naga, to free my left hand and right ring finger for movement only)

My dream armor!?

I’d say just release a different skin of it for everyone else to get. That way, everyone wins.

But it wouldn’t be the armor they want now. It’d be a re-hash which has to look near enough the same but with 6 new wardrobe slots xD people will be fickle.

I hope they bring all of the old items back into play that PvPers didn’t get and vice versa. (Don’t start with “you could have gotten that if you did PvE to get it”… You could have gotten Tribal/Stalwart etc if you PvP’d too. Yet PvPers aren’t the ones moaning about missed opportunities, funny that)

That sort of armor ( Tribal (pvp masquerade at the time) apostle, stalwart etc) is the only sort of prestige that PvPers get. I don’t really want them to take that away from them without giving them something too. Like all of the other PvE only skins which aren’t obtainable anymore because it was a drop, rare or not in PvE. what the Laurel merchant sells, or doesn’t sell, is puzzlingly inconsistent. The npc sells some meta achievement rewards but not others and I don’t see a pattern to it.

As to why OP has the achieve but not the skin, it was before the wardrobe so if he skinned it over or deleted it then it’s gone. They said the wardrobe would not have items deleted or reskinned.

I was pretty sure I added it to my PvP locker though, and the other back item skins I had in my PvP locker, transfered over just fine. =/

You can get them at the festival vendor in LA in the top left corner, but it states very clearly that it is a one time use reskin of an existing backpiece. I don’t know what achievement you’re referring to, but if it gave you the same item, then that’s why it doesn’t appear in your wardrobe. One time use.

That’s the other Holographic wings, the ones you buy for Jorbreakers.

I’m refering to the meta-Achievement reward for completing Dragon Bash.
One-time use, still adds the skin to the wardrode…

Turn off Ground Targeting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

Honestly, I hate ground targeting, in general.

I think all ground targeting AOEs should be changed to NPC/player targeted AOEs.

Where would the counterplay be?

Well, some weapons (on some classes, at least) don’t have a ground targeted AOE, anyway.

So, I don’t really see what the problem would be?

Hmm, Necro casting AoEs with staff and Wells having direct 100% chance to hit/activate marks? No. Thank. You.

Engineer Grenades to track the enemy next?
This is a game mechanic, designed to make people think about positioning, when you remove that, there’s no counterplay. Having the game play for you (ground target on the target enemy by default) removes the playstyle of the profession.

I also think you’re confusing a ‘blast’ type skill, for AoE. Which stand for Area of Effect. A player is a player, not an area.
Honestly, this is only an issue with skillclickers imo.

Level some more and do some Hero Challenges. Problem solved.
To unlock all slot skills for a profession costs 98 hero points. You achieve those points by getting to level 37 alone.
To unlock all Traits(Specialisations) costs a further 60 points, which you will have by level 49.
This is if you don’t do any Hero Challenges while you are levelling.
Why is playing the game so difficult?

Haleydawn.3764

The Chinese version of the game has bunny ears on sale in their cash shop as a skin, posting from my mobile so can’t link. The item exists and all the devs need to do is push a button.

The fact that bunny ears have not been released in the eu & na game yet tells me they never will be. I just can’t think of a reason why not. I would insta buy upon release though.

Witholding stock is a market tactic to be able to generate maximum profit when an item does go on sale again.
I don’t think something that has been out of the Eu/Na game for 2 years would be as simple as pushing a button though, that’s not how programming works.

Bunny ears have been released in the Eu/Na game, I have them, they’re epic. But any gemstore item should be re-released, since it is an income for Anet. I don’t blame them for wanting to keep their stock fresh with new designs.

Race change on gem store/black lion chest?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

Because rerolling would totally solve all my problems. As it stands I am tired of looking at my Asuran Necro and wouldn’t mind rolling a different race. I honestly don’t care about the personal story all that much, so if it were to change what would I care? I just don’t want to have to re-max out my professions, recraft full ascended armor, wait to accumulate all the laurels i need for full ascended accessories and then either recraft 4 legendaries, or make ascended weapons (not as awesome because you can’t stat swap on the fly.) So what’s wrong with paying like 2000 gems or whatever and being able to swap to a new race?

All of those things apart from the crafts themselves are account bound…

If crafting was account bound, this race change thing wouldn’t be an issue. People would just reroll like they can already ingame.

Account bound crafting should be far easier to implement than race change.

Plea for symmetrical shoulder options

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

This doesn’t bother me like most of you. These designs were in theme with the rest of the armor it comes with, some assymetrical ones wouldn’t look good symmetrically (Whispers for example). I’m quite fond of most of what you aren’t (Aether, Carapace) but I only use one assymetrical item on 1 of 8 toons (Whispers shoulder) purely because of the whole armor combo I made for each toon, but I like both symmetry and not.

There’s plenty of Symmetrical items in game already. Couldn’t hurt to have more or the option as you suggested to have a left/right copy check box.

Haleydawn.3764

I love the new daily system, it’s simple and easy and I get mine done within 10-15mins, regardless of the choices. If you don’t get your AP then the self limitation is on you, not Anet. There’s so many easy dailies that pop up every day that you can’t not get it done. Like:
- 50 rank points (PvP)
- Point capture… 1 point cap (PvP)
- Reward Earner (PvP)
- Forager, Logging, Miner
- Big Spender (WvW)
- Master of Ruins (WvW)
- Daily Mystic Forger.
- Vista.
- Land Claimer (WvW)

Usually, there is a combination of these above available everyday. How is it difficult?

New players get different dailys depending on the highest level toon that’s on/has been on the account.

Delete and re-roll with tomes or buy a new character slot. Much easier and is already in game.

How you do with grandmaster crafting? Imo crafting should be account bound.

Crafting should be account bound, but it is not. I wouldn’t be against the idea, but again, programming wise it will be tricky and not worth the hassle.

A bit of backstory.
I had a level 80 human thief, almost 3yrs old, full exotic or better gear, with 100% map completion and 500 weaponsmithing.
I wanted a Norn thief instead purely because how humans wielded daggers while running was irritating.
I deleted this thief and created my new, Norn thief. I challenged myself to get 100% map completion as quickly as possible, it took 44hrs23mins game play to do so. She’s currently still sat at 451 Weaponsmithing purely because I already had made 2 Ascended daggers and a Sword, and the new changes to ‘modding’ ascended armor weapon drops.

It’s really not that difficult.

This has been discussed to death.
Your race/profession is so entwined into the personal story it would be almost impossible to implement this without breaking something bigger in the process. Imagine if this was offered and you ‘lost’ progress on the character? Progress meaning anything from personal story to gear/AP. Too risky.

Delete and re-roll with tomes or buy a new character slot. Much easier and is already in game.

Is banking against the TOS?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

It’s not against ToS to loan people gold. However Anet wont get involved if they don’t pay you back. It’s more a mutual/private agreement.

A member of my guild loans my guilds leader gold quite frequently, and guild leader stated he wanted to pay 10% interest on it for daily/weekly payments, or whatever suited them. It’s all just a laugh though because he mails the loan with an ‘Official bank of _’ mail, with the agreement on it, followed by some joke or another about stingy Asuras who will chase him for the gold.

We are a very tight nit guild though, and our guild master is just Godlike.

Tldr: Loaner beware.

It’s been a great 3 years in Guild Wars 2. I love this game, it’s community is one of the best in the MMO industry.
But a few aesthetic need updating.
Emotes need adding or existing ones need updating (/dance)
Physics of armor and clipping issues especially with Charr/Asura but not exclusive to those (My daggers still clip with my Norns legs)
Idle animations need an overhaul in general since a few were bugged/removed (human female stretch to name one).
Sound options to include ones that grate on people (loud minis and the atrocious Job-o-Tron back pack)

I know you guys are busy with HoT on the horizon, but giving these and other suggestions a look over would be good, if only to know that you A-netters are listening to your customers.

That was a bug as pretty as it was. When you wielded the weapon the whole fire effect would disappear. Since it’s relavent. Blocking someone should block them. The person you block can still add you to their friend list or block you back and they can see where you are still on the interface whether you’re invis or not. Blocking should mean blocking, they should not even be able to friend you or you to be able to see their emotes (/me… gets out of hand, especially if it’s targetted to cause distress, troll or bully someone) this is the only issue I have with the ‘block and move on’ sometimes it’s just not enough.

[SUG] Obtaining Spirit Shards From Leveling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Spirit Shards are now what Scrolls of Knowledge were prepatch. Nothing except the name and where/how they are stored changed in the patch, that and they now drop randomly from mobs.

This is not true, they do not have the same drop rate. I’ve opened plenty of bags since the change and received a single shard where I would have received 8-10 scrolls.

Bag drop rate was most likely adjusted because they now drop from random mobs and as a daily reward. Not just in champion bags.

Also to add, using Tomes of Knowledge on a level 80 gets you a Spirit Shard.

Back to the point, you don’t need Spirit Shards from levelling past level 80 because you get them elsewhere, be happy the system is in place ready for HoT.

How? Stock piled skill points from scrolls and characters who levelled past 80 numerous times.

Spirit Shards are now what Scrolls of Knowledge were prepatch. Nothing except the name and where/how they are stored changed in the patch, that and they now drop randomly from mobs.
Forget that Skill Points were in the map to be obtained, the change was to remedy the surplus that many people had over their characters. Which is why Hero Points are finite.
Don’t forget you get 3 Spirit Shards for doing your Daily.

Also, I don’t think we need anymore rewards, to reward rewards. You play, gain loot, etc why do you need a Spirit Shard for something that is not considered deserving? You get level up rewards, but the exp bar needs to vanish until HoT, when it switches to Mastery post 80-ding.

My favourite names of the 8 80s I have are:

Alys Malafaux, Human Mesmer. Spin of Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Malafide meaning untrustworthy, faux because she’s a mesmer.

Orion Tinkerpaw, Charr engineer. First name after the cat in Men In Black Tinkerpaw is self explanitory.

Nyxophelia, Sylvari Necromancer. Nyx meaning night, Ophelia is Greek for ‘help’. Ophelia was also the Lover of Hamlet in Shakespear who was driven insane.

Kyss Valkyr Norn Guardian. Kyss means winter, Valkyr, shortened from Valkyrie (norse) one of a host of female figures who chooses who lives and dies in battle.

Dark Matter sink?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

just make ascended insignias or inscriptions and sell those

Yup, it’s about 10-15g profit each if you know what you’re doing.

Why does it have to adapt already existing weapons?

New mystic forge weapons requiring 30-50 Dark Matter would be better IMHO. But would have to be account bound on acquire, because the material is just that.

Like, dark smoke effect opaque weapons would be amazing. Maybe like the Chaos Weapons but black.

There are already tons of stuff out there that require account or soulbound stuff which produce non-account/non-soulbound items. Ascended insignias/inscriptions/food…

Some people don’t want/need anymore ascended items, so having another sink for Dark Matter would be great spent on introducing new weapon recipes for the Mystic Forge. Whether you think that being able to craft those items to make gold is an option, other people would like other cosmetic things for there efforts instead of 50g. Because not everyone likes to craft, but everyone likes having skins.

The question wasn’t what to do with excess Dark Matter, but to have another personal use for it.

You do know that you can turn gold into cosmetic items in GW2 right? I see no real reason for having exclusive skins crafted from dark matter in addition to the ascended weapons.

Not everyone who gets Dark Matter wants Ascended gear, yet everyone gets Dark Matter.
My point is, why not, have Mystic Forge recipes requiring Dark Matter for more skins, since it’s harder to get than ectos, there’s the ‘exclusive’ factor.
