Legendary weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Haleydawn.3764

Anet could easily argue they DID deliver on their ‘sales promise’ because what they ‘promised’ didn’t specify how many Legendaries they would create. No one can sensibly argue against that.

Going to leave this here for all interpretation.

“It takes a lot of work to craft these legendary journeys for release, so rather than take the time to develop the full set before releasing any of them, we will be releasing new legendary weapons in small groups at regular intervals until the full set of sixteen has been added to the game. "

Mastery tied to story progress?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Haleydawn.3764

But the original Personal Story was gated by level too.

I can’t expect that a game developer puts in a linear progression system to then not use that system. That defeats the point of it.
You can’t expect Masteries to not be used in the story because it gates it, the whole levelling system was a gate too.

What do you all do after the dailies?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

In no particular order, also depends how I feel, time of day and how much time I have to play; (usually I do my daily last, if I get it done doing what I do then bonus, if not I give it a glance and see what is missing)

-Fractal T4 Dailies
-Chak Gerent if it’s about time for it.
-WvW killing/escorting Dolyaks and camp flipping mainly but sometimes I follow the zerg too
-sPvP
-Treasure Mushroom killing
-Auric Basin events/Octovine (no multiloot, idc if other people do it, but I consider it an exploit)
-Temple events if they’re up for recapture
-Tequatl/Triple-Headed Wurm.
-Tangled Depths- Alts open 4 chests which are near each other nearly everyday.

So all of this stuff is to personally get achievement points/titles I want/more ascended gear(working on armor set 4 via Fractals)/gold for my next legendary) I’m a bit of a multitasker given I don’t get a lot of time to play mid-week.

That’s basically it ^^

Twilight Arbor Aether Path reward bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

I sense no bug, you will receive a nightmare weapon or aether version of it, getting both is most unlikely to happen and that might then, in case it should happen, be a bug. Tho the chances to find TA gear are very slim compared to aether versions, which are guaranteed; yet higher than getting an aether weapon skin – those BL skins.

I think you have your wires crossed here. Aetherized Nightmare skins were never black lion.

To the OP, I believe the standard hammer dropping instead of the Aetherized version is a bug. No dungeon drops the weapons or armor that is purchased for tokens. Aetherized weapons are not 100% guaranteed but they were definitly boosted to drop more often probably to make the path worth doing again.

So unless this was an undocumented change to all dungeons (where the token vendor items now drop inside the respective dungeon) I believe this is a bug.

I’d suggest putting in a support ticket with all the info you can of when you did the path, etc as the Vendor items for Deadly Blooms shouldn’t be dropping, the same as it is for other dungeons. They are only purchased via their respective currency.

The electric wyvern is available once the map takes Central Advanced Camp. This is actually easier than having to finish the meta-event in it’s entirity.

First you complain it’s harder to get now (which it isn’t) and you spent 4 hrs looking for a map, but then you complain that it depreciates the effort required?
So what exactly is your complaint? You argued both ends of the spectrum here.

Something like taming a pet doesn’t depreciate replayability since you can’t retame a pet anyway, it is still a one time thing.

Why can zerg commanders kick for lack of TS?

in WvW

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

I can see why some commanders do want their zerg in teamspeak. It does help with coordination and does make that coordination easier.

That being said, there’s nothing stopping you from following the zerg outside of the squad. As said, his squad his rules.

Edit: As an aside, I’m at a loss as to any reasons you could have for being unable/unwilling to download, run, and listen on teamspeak short of your parents blocking VoIP programs on your router or something like that.

This I find incredibly rude. There are players who are hard of hearing or deaf, a simple /w to a commander makes the lack of ts completely understandable and should allow for that player to remain a part of the squad for boon benefit/scouting. Any commander that still kicks after such reasoning is a kitten.

I’d really like it. I loved the old LA, such a beautiful city, hub of trading that actually felt like an old trading city. The new LA doesn’t give me that feeling anymore. It’s too clean cut, to flashy and too bright.
The old LA encapsulated the “pirate stronghold” theme quite perfectly, and fit the entire theme of Kryta where it was situated.

At last resort, I really hope Anet creates a fractal based in LA, not just a section of it, all of it. There’s a great story to be told there anyway.

Well your first point of call is to repair your client. As much as I’d really like to have a repair icon on the client itself, it doesn’t. But a quick google turned this easy step by step up;

Please follow these steps to verify and repair the archive:
Locate your Gw2.exe file.
Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut.
Rename this new shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair”
Right-click on “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select Properties.
Locate the Target line and add “–repair” to the end. …
Click OK.

Then simply double click this new shortcut to repair your client.

If that fails it still might be a local issue to you regarding your computers permissions/firewalls or hardware if your game crashes as you log in etc.

All in all. More info is needed other than “I can’t log in. Fix it” as getting online requires more than just a good internet connection.

adding all sigils to pvp, why and why not?

The easiest way to ‘balance’ PvP was to adjust(pvp only)/remove them, as loose as that is. So a lot of them have already had that done.

I read the PvP devs actually don’t get a lot of say in gamewide balance believe it or not, but the runes/sigils and amulets they can control.

All except my main PvX toon is logged at chests in Tangled Depths atm (I don’t have a ton of time to sink into HoT metas during the week, so opening 4 chests almost daily on my characters is a great way to earn the map currency towards my next goal, Ex-Machina. Gotten almost 2k for 10mins each day over maybe just under a week, idk. It suits me doing it so I do it.)

I don’t do this to match my character. It’s a more personal thing about it. Some think it’s weird xD

I do have “my spot”. I had one in World of Warcraft too, in the Vally of Honour by the water next to the bridge looking at the bank ^^..

It was extremely hard to find a place for myself in Gw2. It took a while in the old Lions Arch to find my afk spot, the place I logged into and logged out of. I did find it, but then it got destroyed. . so my spot became non existant. It was just infront of the water system between the bridges infront of the Mystic Forge. I tried DR, I tried The Grove, it was not home and until the dust of LA settled, I stayed in Caer Shadowfain.

Then LA was rebuilt, and then my dilemma hit, I needed to find my spot again. It’s been a task. But I think I have found my spot. It’s on the verge near the frog pond looking towards the bank. We’ll see.

Please Remove Daily/Monthly AP Cap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

Also, everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that the reason the cap was originally put in place no longer exists.

I’m a couple of years off from hitting the daily cap anyway, but that’s my two cents . . .

The reason the cap was put into place was because people didn’t want to log in every single day for 10AP to stay ahead on the leaderboard, just because the daily takes 5-15mins now, doesn’t mean the reason no longer exists, you still have to put in a daily log in to get it. The cap actually puts every player on an even footing. What gets you ahead is the rest of your time spent in game.

In all fairness, I’d rather Anet scrapped dailies, and made monthly rewards instead and increasing the cap to 20k. So those who couldn’t, didn’t have to log in every day to get achievement points. Then I’d be more inclined to agree with removing/upping the cap, as logging in when you can/want to during a month is far easier than a 24hr period.

Please Remove Daily/Monthly AP Cap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Haleydawn.3764

It’s not about “catching up” at all. It’s about putting a cap on what are the easiest points to obtain in the game. You can’t daily your way to account bound rewards/bonuses, you should have to play the game, actually invest your time in it, to be rewarded. Of course it’s going to have a cap, and I think it should remain as it is.

When I think of people who haven’t invested in the game, I definitely think of people who’ve been playing long enough to have hit the daily cap.

If that’s all they’ve done, pretty much. If you only log in for the daily, but don’t do anything else, why should you continually be rewarded for it in terms of points? I play the game for more than just the daily, I don’t get a point reward for salvaging anymore, or running fractals or dungeons anymore, for completing hearts or events anymore. But people still want a point reward to infinity for logging in for 5mins? That’s not really loyalty. Loyalty would be sticking around to play no matter if there was a point reward or not, not just for your daily.

Except the rewards are there and there aren’t really enough APs to get them.

And you blame the Daily AP cap instead of the imbalance of achievement points of what is currently obtainable, in comparison to what we used to earn for similar meta achievements?

Daily AP cap is something that they can easily “do” for us. So there is some hope that if there is enough outcry we might have it removed.

The imbalance of achievement points of what is currently obtainable in comparison to what we used to earn way back when is something that would require a lot of effort to reword.
They’d have to go back and look at all the AP rewards and rebalance that. Let’s not kid ourselves – Anet won’t. Because of outcry – and most likely because they don’t have the manpower to do it.

This is the company that cancelled it’s own legendary weapons because of lack of manpower. You’re just daydreaming if you think they’ll go back to rebalance AP just for the sake of a few of us on the forums. We’re not worth that much time.

We have to ask for simple and easy to do solutions. It’s the only ones we have a chance of getting.

It’s more about asking Anet to design new achievements with the new maps, both PvE and PvP, in the future to award achievement points like they used to (They design a point reward system, then not only remove a lot of achievements as content was never permanent, but then replace achievements not only at a slower rate, but with less AP to boot.) Use meta achievements like they’ve done with The Shatterer, Tequatl and Triple-Headed Wurm, instead of 1APs and 3APs here and there for collections and Personal story, not even being consistent about it.
For example, you get the same AP if you craft two of the same legendary, as if you craft 5 unique legendaries. For completing Triple Trouble achievement in total you get 135AP, for completing The Shatterer achievement you get 110AP, and I actually think the Shatterer achievement takes longer to complete due to it’s requirements. Plus lots of other examples I could dig up but I’m on mobile right now.

All in all, I really hope these new maps are going to have some good AP tied into them, both repeatable (with the new repeatable Hearts they’re adding) and one time only that award a consistent amount compared to previous achievements before Heart of Thorns.

So yeah the daily AP cap isn’t about catching up, it’s about not having a source of infinite AP, just like every other achievement is capped.
I do wonder how many would bother to complain if the daily points were displayed in the Hero tab instead, with 15,000 tiers awarding 10AP each tier, so you knew it had a cap. Instead of as it is now upon hovering over the achievement points total.

The thing is, if you remove one cap of repeatable achievement points, you should really remove it from the others.
You know, Agent of Entropy (capped at 250pts) Hobby Dungeon Explorer (capped at 200pts). Fractal Frequenter is not even repeatable (Why? This doesn’t make sense to me and should be repeatable like the Hobby Dungeon achievement) yet I’ve never seen anyone complain about these having a cap. Why? Why does the Daily point cap get so much fuss but the other caps do not?

The Daily AP cap gets so much fuss and is different than the others because it is daily.

Unlike those other achievements that you could ( if they were not capped) farm indefinitely in-game the daily cap is a reward for loyalty and sticking with the game.

You log in and do your dailies every day – that’s your reward.

I also feel the cap should be removed. Even without it the gap between new and old players by now is so large that “catching up” isn’t something one should expect to be able to do quickly (or at all).
if someone has 25 k ap right now and has been playing for 4 years straight – daily AP cap or no-daily AP cap – you’re never catching up if you start now.

You’ve missed out on too many one-time living world things and whatnot to catch up.

So it’s ok to remove a hard cap (15k AP) as long as there is a daily soft cap (10AP). So why not do that for other repeatables? You’re still asking for a source of unlimited AP.

This is the thing, because most people at 20,000ish K AP have stagnated on acquiring AP, they rely on Daily AP to push to the next reward.
Instead of asking about the AP imbalance of what we get now for achievements compared to what we used to get. How many new achievements (mainly how many points are associated with them) are added into the game compared to how many are retired. It’s instead turned on the Daily AP cap, not the imbalance. Do you see how completely backwards that is?

We all draw loyalty from different places, some from the wardrobe, how many legedaries you have, your fractal level, PvP level, WvW rank etc. Having your Daily AP capped at 15k, plus all the permanent points, should be enough to tell you how loyal you are.

I actually have to agree with Malediktus, remove the points altogether and double the permanent ones we earned/can earn, and seriously look at the latest and further achievements award points. It would completely solve this non issue.

Because the point here is to give something for something. Anet’s game model relies on player exposure to gem-store items in order to increase the chances you’ll buy something.
For that purpose the entire daily log-in reward system was created – in an effort to make players log in every day in order to increase the chances they’ll be exposed to some gemstore sale or another.

Daily player retention is a core requirement for any game that has a “gem store”.
The soft cap of only 10 per day is there to make you come back the next day. It is also good because it will over time differentiate between players that STICK with the game for the long haul vs players that log on infrequently.

I would also like more AP added into the game to fix the stagnation but I also realize that AP is added into the game when associated with content and there is very little content being added – so thus I can’t ask for more AP.
They could make the little content we get now reward disproportionately high amounts of AP when compared to older content but that would really upset players. Including me.

I would LOVE more content in the game and would WANT more AP associated with said content but the sad truth is we’re not going to see that for a long time.

AP keeps people logging in – if it’s not capped then there are higher chances you’ll make some people keep coming back every day. Better odds they might actually like some gem store thing and buy it.

Content makes people log in. The dailies are the glitter on your cupcakes, doesn’t make it taste better, but it’s a nice addition to go with the rest of it.

You seem to think that Anet aren’t capable of adding new achievements on already existing content. I could ramp out loads here but I cba.

But it still stands that the cap is not the issue but the amount of points currently obtainable is low in general.

“I log in.
You log in.”

I salvage lots.
You salvage lots.
I run dungeons.
You run dungeons.

“I get nothing.
You get something.
We both did the same thing – I did it for longer and am still doing it now yet I’m no longer rewarded for it.
Why?”

How is it any different?

How are there that many people completely dedicated to logging in every day? I mean this game is only about 4 years old right? It’s crazy.

It’s because of the old Monthly achievements which used to award upwards of 100AP/month. Plus seasonal Dailies you used to get with like Halloween/Wintersday. Maybe you should read the entire thread before posting.

You can earn 15k daily AP, for a new players that’s 4 years playing, for people who played from the start its less, as dailies where worth 5AP for each daily in the early game, so what Anet is saying really is enjoy the game for 4 years new players then we cut your progression..

This is a little misleading. The old dailies awarded 1 point each, with 10 to choose from (iirc it was 6 PvE, 2 PvP and 2 WvW). 5 dailies completed would give you the completion chest which granted 1 laurel. But there was 10 points up for grabs.

The monthly achievements would award upwards of 100AP and 10 laurels.

Again I reiterate the point. This is not a daily AP cap problem but It’s to do with how AP is distributed on achievements now, compared to 2-3 years ago. How many are added and how many are retired that is the issue.

Why does the Daily point cap get so much fuss but the other caps do not?

The casual factor. The multiple awards behind it. The benefits gained to the account. Just name a few reasons.

Keep in mind, a lot of us with jobs, families, responsibilities, may not have the time required to many achievements. But the daily one? In most cases yes. And it also rewards those casuals by spending their limited time on something achievable within the long-term.

Not all achievements are created equal.

But the other caps are just as casual friendly aswell.

Pretty sure you aren’t the only one with a job/life/responsibilities playing this game.

The reality is this problem has nothing to do with the Daily AP cap. We all can Earn 15k daily points and that’s it.

It’s to do with how AP is distributed on achievements now compared to 2-3 years ago. How many are added and how many are retired that is the issue.

Not all players are equal either. Some can spend more time ingame and that’s fine.

You get 10AP(if not capped), 2 gold plus the other small bits of loot doing the daily. For something that requires absolutely no effort, I’d say that’s a lot. So I agree that the cap should remain as it is. It means you don’t have to do your daily if you don’t want to. I’ve only got about 8k worth of Daily/Monthly points, not because I don’t like this game, obviously, I’ve been playing for 4 years, but because those particular points aren’t relevant to my gameplay.

They’re only achievement points, not some world reknowned award that’ll effect you at all. I think the obssession needs to stop. It’s starting to sound crazy…

The OP would be surprised at how many do actually sell ascended stuff, mainly rings, to a vendor. As salvaging them costs fractal relics and 1g for one tool. And there’s a higher chance you don’t get 1g back from the ring in the form of stabilizing matrices.

The Bell pops up every 3 minutes from when the match starts. Each team on first cap gets 25pts. 2nd 50pts, 3rd 75pts and 4th 100pts.
If you can deny the enemy a Bell cap for 3 mins with 2 people, that’s 3mins wasted on 0 points as no cap was achieved.
However if a team can get all bell caps that’s 250 points without holding a single node. Now, most teams can have atleast one node capped. Added on player kills is enough to win the match, so basically this map as it is now is team death match for the Bell captures with actual conquest as the side objective imho.

I’d like to see the bell give something other than a static point reward. Maybe a team buff not unlike the ones you find in Temple that grant extra points per tick of the nodes you own or maybe something new, fitting with the pirate theme of the map like, capping The Bell flips one of your enemy nodes in your favour, stealing the enemys capture point.

Unless you get in touch with your guild leader and he promotes someone else, you will not get it back. As you just said, you gave the guild to him. Why you and your friends gave the guild you built to someone else, was your decisions. If it was your guild, how can you not know why you promoted someone to leader?

Anet doesn’t get into Guild drama. End of story.

not able to enter WvW

Before this micro-patch, I logged in and the Guild panel said in red letters that guild stuff had been disabled as there was an update.

So I patched and lo-and behold, can’t enter WvW, yet people who haven’t patched this yet are still playing in WvW.

Confirmation for selling ascended stuff

The difference is when you drag out of you inventory is to destroy something permanently. When you Vendor something you quite clearly see the names of all items you are vendoring, and there’s the back up of the buyback tab. That’s why there’s no confirmation box, it’s because it’s pretty failsafe already aslong as the user pays attention. Let’s not fix something that isn’t broken because people are too used to braindeading their game.

I’ve never sold an ascended item to vendor. Ever. I don’t use fancy-schmancy invisible boxes either.

You are reasoning by analogy – if something hasn’t happened to you then it clearly hasn’t happened to anyone else.

The change I am proposing wouldn’t affect your superior race of players in any way, you wouldn’t even notice it. However, for us inferior “braindead” beings, which do make accidental mistakes from time to time, it would be useful.

No not at all. Ofcourse this happens to people, but there are failsafes already.

What I don’t get is why people would support to add extra unneccessary clicks ingame when people protest there’s too much clicking as it is, because a few people can’t pay attention or use the failsafe that is already present?

Yes it’s my mistake. Does that mean the game shouldn’t do anything to help me prevent it? I mean who would possibly need a confirmation box for, lets say, dragging out a legendary out of the inventory and destroying it that way? Or for accidentally pressing F12 instead of Print screen and logging out in the middle of a very important event?

The addition of a confirmation box would not in any way aim anyone else except people which accidentally try to sell their valuable ascended weapons. I mean who would possibly want to regularly sell 100g weapons to a vendor for just 1g?

If the weapon was flipped around, dagger animations would need an overhaul just for one weapon. Since the animation uses the underside of the hand to attack (where the dagger blade is currently) so no I think with current animations your suggestion would look even worse.

Upside down daggers? Thieves hold their daggers in a reverse edge in grip, known for defense and greater force when brought downward on the tip (hello Backstab). So they are holding daggers correctly imo given the status of the abilities they give you.

Pay more attention. This is purely a user error problem.

There’s only the one colour (pink) items that are vendorable for dead on 1g. They are obviously ascended.

Anyone remember when people asked for a second confirmation box for salvaging exotic + stuff? Question is, where do you end the this ‘Are you sure?’.

[Gift of Battle] What to know

I’d also like to add getting participation by going into your home borderlands during off peak (less enemies and you own 90%+ of the map) just escorting dolyaks is a great way to gain reward track progress and actually helps your server without even engaging in combat if you don’t want to.

Nice job op, we should be encouraging those people who want gift of battle but don’t like WvW to instead help their server instead of hinder it.

Tone Down Revive

Could we just remove the headache and get rid of rallying in PvP only? Either you’re stomped or revived, it would mean either/or would be a combat choice that could benefit PvP, and this would ofcourse mean you have to finally balance downed state, for example standardise armor/toughness/vitality, incoming healing (x% per person on revive only)for all professions (I would still suggest balancing downed state regardless of any changes). Some professions downed abilities and revive traits outshine others quite drastically.

Design Discussion: Khylo Trebuchet

in PvP

Posted by: Haleydawn.3764

Haleydawn.3764

When you asked in the Skyhammer thread a few moons ago;

Questions:

  • Kyhlo’s treb:
    • Do we consider it a swing mechanic?
    • What do we think of it being up all the time?
    • Does it need to be reworked to make it fit “periodic secondary mechanics”, and if yes how would you change it?
    • Is the treb fine as is, and why?
  • Would we want to have secondary mechanics that are up all the time in future maps?

Kyhlo is probably my favourite map, and the trebuchet is a great tool for it. When played well, you get your mid cap using treb, then join your team in the fight occasionally returning to blast a few more treb rounds off onto a contested mid point if an enemy player hasn’t already gone to destroy it, leaving their team 4v5 while they do this on an empty treb. When not played well is when it gets camped by one person who can’t defend it, rotate it, aim it etc.
Baiting your enemy to come destroy it to out number them in field is your best play, if they can’t avoid the damage/knockback. In my last dozen or so Khylo games, it was rare that one goes for the treb to start with, staying as 4 strong on mid or 2home 3far as surprise, works better than using the treb to secure a mid cap. In some of them, both trebs were completely untouched. I don’t know how these matches look in lower divisions/with newer people, but I’m sure someone else will give their thoughts.

With the fact that the treb can be dodged and destroyed, makes it a secondary mechanic which can be overcome, but the damage may have to be balanced as you would balance professions, in a glass meta, the treb is devastating, in a hybrid (high sustain, mid-high damage) meta like we are now, it could be considered weak, the only effectiveness being the knockback/interrupt.

I suppose we could alter how the treb works, ie, instead of player controlled, it’s AI, aiming for one random enemy node, once a supply drop (treb repair atm) is returned to an ammunition holding, essentially charging the treb, ready to fire.

Or keeping it a player controlled tool, we changed what the projectile does. Implementing different rounds, for example Flash rounds which blinds enemies, but on a longer cooldown. If this was implemented, removing the trebuchet standard knockback to just a damaging shrapnel would have to happen to keep it a secondary mechanic.

Or we could completely remove the treb and have a pure conquest map with no secondary mechanic at all. Which would be fine too.

I’d like to see it be an AI thing, where you have to supply it to make it fire. Could be used as an enemy node decap once charged and fired. Hmm

I never understood gaming on laptop.

I hated gaming on mine before I built my PC 3 years ago. It overheated a lot, had to shut it off for ages, low gfx settings framerate drops. Friggin’ awful.

Raiding in WoW was a challenge for that (Still did it though 25man HC \o/)

Hehe.

OP, buy a good PC or have one custom built. You will not regret it.

Acquiring ascended armor in expansion

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Haleydawn.3764

Elite specializations collections reward an ascended version of their new weapons.

Requires HoT

New bloodstone fen rewards stat selectable back piece, ring, and amulet.

Requires HoT (or is it LS3)

Edit: Just thought I would make it clear.

Captain Obvious, the question was related to acquiring ascended gear in HoT.

To the OP, ascended trinkets are easy enough to get as listed above but also with the ‘old way’ of Laurels, Badges+Ectos, Guild Commendations.
With Fractal mastery you should see a box or two of ascended armor pieces each month for doing the daily Fractals. They also added accessory drops to the fractal tables for the higher scales and getting Fractal relics for the ascended back item is now easy peasy.
