ranks been the easiest to get these days, you can get from 0 to 80 in 5 months. ranks means nothing in pvp except time spent.
The thing is I also want to get better at it so that title the Champion Paragon means something. Some of the people in my guild are really good at pvp, but then there seems to be a huge gap between new pvpers and veteran pvp players. The good ones are really good, but then the bad ones like myself are just terrible. Unlike pve and/or wvw, this mode has strangely polarized skill division as well as high learning curves.
champion titles don’t mean you’re a veteran pvp player…more than 5-8k tournament played is way more indicative…
already have 4 champ titles…on 3rd account lol
That’s one thing I never understood is the disparity between the titles and achievements. On one hand you have the different champ titles, which are very easy to get, few weeks of playing casually. Then you have champ brawler which is a extremely long term goal (nobody has yet to get it). There’s no middle ground at all.

It’s just the qualifiers though, if the semi finals and final where only getting 500 viewers then yeah I’d see a problem. For GW2 standards it’s not bad, and it’s actually an improvement. Not every game can be like CSGO and have 405k viewers.

Teamq gives you the most amount of rank points followed by soloq. Hotjoin is pretty much a waste of time.

They’re extremely gimmicky, and I wouldn’t really call it a viable spec. Anytime I see a team with multiple Rangers. I just use Wall of Reflection, traited WoR has a 33% up time, so it pretty much shuts them down.

I was actually going to make a thread about Elite Focus, the way stab intervals needs to be tweaked. Right now it has 15 second intervals of stab for a total of 30 seconds.
Lets say you use Courage or Wrath and a thief immediately uses Larcenous Strike, or something happens to strip or corrupt the boon. You now have to wait 15 seconds to get the stab back. I find this extremely unfair, since tomes already make you very vulnerable.
Yes, there needs to be counter play however the interval is too long. Ten or five second intervals would be much more forgiving and useful. It still allows for counter play, but you’re not at such a disadvantage.

Not as useful, most fights aren’t not going to drag on for that long that you get to use RF multiple times, even at 72 seconds. However if you plan on taking another med(s), than yes it’s more viable.

The problem is you’re going 6/6/0/0/2, you’re going to get destroyed because you have no sustain at all. To be viable in pvp you pretty much have to have six in Valor for AH or MF, if you’re bunker you have a little more leeway you can do something like x/x/x/6/6. However for dps you pretty much have to put six into Valor.
Typical guard dps builds are:
x/6/6/x/x (Highest damage possible)
2/1/6/1/4 (Better sustain)
2/5/6/x/x (High damage, but don’t have to use one handed weapons)
3/x/6/4/x (Symbol build)
x/x/6/6/x (High sustain, but less burst)

I view both leaderboards with a grain of salt. Teamq is just the same few teams and top players smashing pugs. No competitive game has top teams or players running around with almost 90% win ratios. This just shows how little competition is actually left in GW2. Not trying to call anyone out, but I’m going to use GF as an example. They have pretty much been on the top of teamq leaderboards for ages, yet how many major tourneys have they won? Like I said, not trying to belittle them or anything, they have some of the best players in the game. They’re just the obvious and prominent choice for my example. As for the Soloq lb, it’s just bad. Way too many variables to take it seriously (4v5, unbalanced maps, and etc).
Watching and playing with or against players is the only way to really rate them.

Most left, sure you have the few hardcore people around. However for the most part, people come back and play in the major tourneys and that’s it. Teamq is fairly dead, mostly just solo players. Then you have soloq which is its own can of worms (4v5, skyhammer, etc).
Can’t really blame people for quitting. Been over two years, and pvp is still pretty much the same.

Any suggested changes to builds for a frontline zerg Guardian?
Nothing really changed that much. However Tome of Courage is very viable with the new Elite Focus and is a great alternative to Renewed Focus.

I think they went to casual (again) , or maybe you paraphrase into: we need a middle ground.
- 1) the glorious here set, which only top 10 poeple will get for winning ToG.
Super super super suuuuuuUUUUper great that finaly some prestige to the top. I will never come even close and im exited to maybe play against one
- 2) a good pvper, lets say top100, 500, or even 1000.
….nothing….
- 3) The normal hero set, which anyone with some time will get through hotjoin
As you see, point (2) is the middle ground between the top10 best and the average hotjoin hero. It is also the majority of all the pvpers left and the ones who complain on forums Basicaly something to diferentiate from the hotjoiners would be AWESOME.

I do agree there should be some type of requirement before can just jump straight into solo/teamq. However, changing the mmr system won’t really help. The player base is so small, that even the best matching system would still have a lot of issues.

Yeah, it’s a pretty underwhelming rune. Nobody really used it in PvE/WvW either, so I don’t know why they brought it to PvP. Reduce the CD on the 6th skill then it could be decent.

Assassin is better for sustain damage, and in the long run. However I still don’t see that many people using it over zerker.

That “bug” fix, which has been around since day one, is a huge nerf to bunker guard that use shield. I could write a huge rant on why it was so important, there’s really almost no reason not to go Focus now. Shield was already a very niche weapon, and they just keep diminishing its use.

This is kind of off topic, but it has to do with crashes. If you search for “Dwayna” on the tp it’ll crash the game.

Arc: Also the Monks Focus bug is still there so you still get an extra heal even if you don’t TP to an ally – contrary to the skillbar preview. ( so you get 1x 2k heal from MF and 1x 2k heal from MI regardless of target )

It’s not huge, but it does make a difference, the overall heal is quite large now. First screen in 0 hp the other is 1200 hp. So if you stand in the whole duration, it’s a 5040 heal, however I don’t know if the number of impacts is divided by the number of players in the area. So it could be less, if more people are receiving the heal.

People don’t run engis in zergs, it’s all about GWEN!
They just solo and small group stuff, and most of the time it’s just some perplexity condi builds.

Only problem I have with increasing the gold in pvp, is the amount of bot and farmers it will bring. Nobody will actually care about pvp, they’re just there for easy rewards. Sure you increase the pvp population, but how many are there because they actually like pvp and want to be there? Last thing I want is tpvp to be filled with a bunch of bots and farmers that don’t care.
Now if you just increase it for winning, I don’t really have a problem with that. This would force people to actually play well and want to win. Which is how it should be.

I hope medi guard becomes the new FotM, its much easier to deal with then turret engi.
Imo guardians are the easiest class to defeat.
They are “easier” to beat because the class is actually balanced right. All the hard hitting skills have obvious animations (which is how all professions should be). So it really just comes down the skill of the players.

Honestly if you get hit by a Deep Freeze, it’s your own fault. However I do love some Deep Freeze + Judge’s Intervention, land a majority of them if you do that.

That’s typical, its like Anet expects the higher ranked people to be able to carry whole teams. People can say what they want about the old matchmaking system, however at least I knew the people on my team would be my skill level.
