If so then LOTRO is completely irrelevant to this discussion as Agony/Infusion only works in ONE (endless) dungeon.
And AFAIK it will be the only place for the foreseeable future, as it´s only one frikken island that we get. Not a whole slew of maps like in a real expansion.

When Ag./Inf. is mandatory for the actual expansions, THEN it´s time to get the pitchforks out.

So let me quickly recap.

Everybody is basically flipping out about stats of one ring.

This new Ascendant gear will have slightly better stats. But the upgrade slot can only fit these new Infusion thingies, that are soley useful in the new dungeon.

Endgame without treadmill isn´t possible in “Theme Park MMOs” like GW2´s PvE.

The Devs will always breathlessly race the consumer/grinders gobbling up their painstakingly tested( ) content in a fraction of the time it took to create it.

Sadly WoW has created all too much of these consumer raid-types.

The only real answer to “endless” endgame is the Sandbox.
For GW2 it is WvWvW.
Tournaments and E-Sport are a nice gimmick, at least to me. But I could be wrong.

I hope ANet understands this and will show it by expanding PvP in a meaningful matter.

Just as I thought, ascendant gear isn´t much of a big deal except to those who already have grinded down a legendary or two.
At least that´s what we know from the current facts.

If agony is only a condition in the Fractal Dungeon, then I really don´t see where the big problem is.

But I promised myself to not join the hysterious theorycraftig before we actually see the new content and have some hard facts.

Plz continue with the hilarities. I just hope the DEVs aren´t too swayed by these forum “flash-mobs” and remember to stay on course with their own game design vision.

I presume both of you are using Windows 7. What energy settings are you running?
Does the frame limiter actually work for you?

This client has some type of severe bug(s) that arbitrarily throttles down the performance or even causes black screens it seems.

Any “solutions” are probably just you guys having luck with circumventing the weird bugs that are lurking. Lets see how you fare after ANet has patched around a bit more.

That usually means plugging it into an external USB case, and would be about the most stupid thing one can do with a SSD drive. Arbitrarily capping whats best about it (raw data throughput) with the crappy USB 2.0(even3.0) cap.

Just use the smaller as the system drive.

The 90 gig should suffice nicely for a Win7 system with assorted apps and still have the comfortable headroom of about 10-20 gig free to ensure longevity. That 70% sounds like yet another SSD myth. I believe peeps are confusing longevity with performance problems.

The 120 as a gamedrive would be perfect.
No need to watch how full it gets as games are overwhelmingly doing data reads, which is irrelevant in regards to longevity or performance.

Some servers/maps are hit harder than others, some only during certain times.

Reality and quite a bit of shortsightedness.

ANet needs gold sinks(Death Repair/WP travel) desperately to battle rising inflation, which would render their GEM currency practically useless.

But this leads to people don´t want to take the risk of spending hard earned gold on repair and travel. So we have everybody in ORR grinding the same mobs over and over again instead of having fun in actually exploring the rest of the world.

So getting high level players back is tricky and basically impossible without giving them some high cost(for ANet) incentives in gold.

Remember, if ANet makes earning gold too easy or allow runaway inflation, they shoot themselves in the foot!
After all selling GEM for “real” currency is how they are supposed to stay profitable.

So that only leaves luring 80ies with karma incentives back into the low zones.
Incentives that somehow have to offset the high travel cost and potential Death repair costs.

Tricky.

I still like to have the “underflow server” option ASAP. Better than this impotent theorycrafting.

This basically means that this UMBRA software is taking care of making this program run smooth and is obviously failing spectacularly at it.

I have no idea why it has to fail this bad with GW2 as other games seem to use it without problems, but that´s our deal.

It got something to do with the MSI Afterburner program, I think. Maybe close that first before running GW2.

All these ideas are neat and I´d like to have them too, but they have one big problem.
It takes valuable developer time to implement, which is always missing.

Tweaking the overflow server mechanic is a quick and dirty hack, but I daresay much easier and faster to implement than anything else.

Remember it isn´t a server-merge!
It´s actually an instance merge for specific maps, thus it already dynamically reacts to each individual map and its current population problem.

Already people have their favorite leveling maps(queensdale) and basically ignore everything else (charr), so this problem is acute NOW and VERY detrimental to new player retention.

Don´t, just use the Turbo feature of your 1055 instead.
I made the error of “upgrading” from a x2 555 (overclocked @ 3.7ghz) to a x4 965 (3.4 stock) and I have worse FPS now.

Which is clearly due to some weird bug in this client as my cores aren´t even remotely used at peak clocks, but it shows how fickle this software is.

If you have around 30 in LA without the Turbo feature then start using that instead or switch to an Intel system and hope the performance bug misses you.
Upgrading to another Phenom is a waste of money, especially in your case.

The client doesn´t seem to use the 4th core that much anyway, so your 3 cores on turbo should very well do it.

ANet´s GEM selling program is very much the best way to battle gold sellers from the economic side as they can dictate at least the upper profit margin for them.

Where ANet really is failing is in outright banning them and increasing the risk for their actions.
I very much hope this “Bot Taskforce” will start showing real progress soon. It already has in regard to goldseller mail-spam, so I´m carefully optimistic.

At 1st glance, that you really need to kill your current 32bit Win7 after downloading and burning the free Win7 64bit ISO from Microsoft. You can reuse the old code without problems.
You´re only using 3.5g of your 8gig memory!

Will probably solve the current memory problem as you somehow managed to get your GFX card to use up most of your precious system memory. The card is pretty crappy but should be still compatible with GW2.

Though dump that card ASAP and get a GForce 650 or better. The 650 will almost certainly work as it doesn´t tax your (dated)power supply unit much more than the current card.

@ the last two, your crappy laptops aren´t meeting minimum specs for running this game and so the client shuts down.
Mainly because of the on board Intel GFX. They are shader 2.0 but GW2 needs at least shader 3.0 compatible graphics.
Do yourselves a favor and buy a midrange Intel desktop system for gaming instead of trying to game on a laptop.

As I have seen proven in another long gone thread, this client basically delivers what amounts to a DDOS attack on the router when it can´t connect properly.
Check the Q&A for what ports to open and how to do it properly in your router.

This actually could be a good idea! To disperse a little more the players around the world.

I have nothing against such an idea. More carrots are always nice.

But it doesn´t solve the underlying problem for high level players in low level zones.

The underflow server (free cute kitten pic for anybody coming up with a better name ) would elegantly solve the problem.
The overflow server mechanic is already working and shouldn´t require too many devwork hours to adapt and invert.
It would also help in staving of the eventually coming server consolidations. Always a major psychological downer.

Changing server is not the solution as the problem will only get worse with time.
Either when people have finally leveled a toon in every class or the grind and sinking popularity will make people desert in more noticeable numbers.

IMHO the division in US and EU servers is the biggest problem. I understand it´s because of latency issues, but it leads to an artificial divide and empty servers during a timezone´s off time.

Sadly it´s just another sign of a rushed launch.
