I´ll be back when the next rushed 4 map “expansion” will be launched and I can get this one for free.
If there still is an Ahrrna Net next year.
In the mean time I´ll get my “action RPG” fix in Wildstar.

It is another episode in AhrrnaNets endless quest to make their own game irrelevant.
Or so it seems by now, after 3 years of constant weird oh so smart game design decisions.

You can try cooling that AMD with the absolute coldness of space and it will still suck.
AMD simply built bad CPUs in the last years, and that´s coming form a decade long AMD user. Maybe the coming Zen architecture will finally bring them on par with Intel again.

Just save the money on your overclocking shenanigans and buy an Intel CPU&Mobo instead.
BTW the i7s are a waste of money, IMHO. An i5 is pretty much all you need.
A quick google shows there are combo Mobos for Skylake allowing DDR3, so take that into account too.

I´m trying to figure out if this Verdant Brink map I keep hearing about, is indeed all the new PvE content in this expansion.

Gw2timer doesn´t help any, btw.
I just keep seeing blurry tiles no matter how much I scroll in and around.

Personal Guilds were a perfectly viable emergent gameplay to somewhat counter AhrrnaNets broken promise on a viable personal instance.
Which everybody knows actually means, PLAYER HOUSING!

After 3 years they barely managed to introduce viable guild gameplay in a game called GUILD WARS, but chose to almost entirely eradicate “player housing” in the process.
Just leaving us with bare bones access to our banks and guild armors/weapons.

The honest thing to do now would be to announce plans for a proper personal instance revamp, but of course we all know that will hardly happen as it requires quite a bit of work and money, which is better allocated to create new gems store cosmetics.

HOW many maps are there? How big are they?

Ok, the eagle has landed and by today surely some powergamers have seen pretty much everything, or close to it.

I know these “sandwich maps” are hard to compare to the “old” maps, but then again maybe not?
Looking at the Grove city map, it is about a quarter of DR but in 4 layers.
Is it pretty much the same in this expansion, but how many stand-alone maps are there actually?

I came back to the game BECAUSE of the HoT hype.
Then it got delayed for almost 8 months during which I had to experience live one low blow after the other delivered to the core game, that I payed good money for at launch and buying gems afterwards.

After culminating in the total F2P bonanza and subsequent gutting of any meaningful rewards for core game gameplay, I did not buy HoT.

I just witnessed how AhrrnaNet treated my former investment, so why I should again beLIEve the hype of how awesome and full of content HöT will be.

Now I´m hardly bothering to get the daily log in rewards and will probably soon throw the game of my SSD or simply delete it outright.

Uhm, I missed this one.
What´s new with the API making it cooler now?

Usually the “useless” build were useless to the Munchkin crowd, who are useless to me.

This game definitely changed to having much less diversity and more cookie cutter builds now.
Which is great for overworked Devs with Guild Wars 1 balancing PTSD and Zerker Meta optimal DPS runners, but very boring for us tinkerers and fun builders.

For example before I had a neat Hammer/Rifle Warrior build that still allowed me great mobility, but that is dead now as the 25% run speed is on the same tier with Rifle -20%.

Oh well, at least this way there´s actual hope for eventually getting even more Elite classes with future expansions.

I kept mine specifically to upgrade my low level alts after this patch and now they´re pretty much lost as I don´t need anything really that´s bought with these.

Wow has taught you many bad habits to have in this game that you kinda have to unlearn.

1st and most important, your skills aren´t WOW skills you HAVE to immediately use when they are recharged. Try using them situationally, you´ll figure it out.

2nd don´t run away immediately once you found an event and finished it, there´s often a 2nd or even 3rd stage. Or in short, stay around a bit to smell the pixels.

Which is good as there´s no real finished product to announce yet , which would really hurt sales if widely known.

There is going to be one new class and ONE NEW MAP.
Yes, it will be layered like a lasagna but it will NOT have a dungeon with inbuilt “free” armors and weapons.
Instead it will have oh so meaningful open world content, which amounts to pretty much the sameish living world Zerg content we already saw, just more static.

Yes the GvG stuff is cool and their maps are a nice touch, looking great. Albeit they seem too humongously huge and will probably end up too empty at the end of the day.

ALL of the above is fact and to me simply not worth 50 bucks, especially when that price was pretty much set by some Chinese market analyst to determine the profitability of this game in the next fiscal quarters.
THAT´S the real reason for this current pre-order hype, and I´m sorry guys but you´re falling for the old bait&switch like … {insert appropriate expression}.

After half a dozen blogs and a long POI I still have no clue what will happen to my personal guild stash when I don´t buy Hot, heck or even IF I buy it.

Go for ESO, it´s a great game and the character development is hilariously superior. Especially to the gutted system this game is getting “slimlined” down to.

Just saw that thread but cannot be bothered to post link, need my morning coffee now, trying to forget this morning happened.

So influence is going to be irrelevant for anything guild, so what the heck is it good for anyway?
As stated in the Guild Halls Interview

Influence will no longer be earned after HoT launches, but will stick around for a while so that guilds can sink the influence they currently have into the new system. There is a new currency being introduced call Favor that will be rewarded from guild missions, but they didn’t go into what exactly Favor was going to be used for.

And what about people with a personal guild(only yourself as a member) but without HoT, are we just gona loose everything including our guild stashes (& content)?

BTW not very much interested in the usual suspects telling me how ANet will surely not allow because they care.
I´m done with the hype, I need cold hard facts now to decide my future here.

As the “leaked” Patch Notes on Dragon Season! show, the current stupid way to unlock your traits is replaced by simply buying them with the new Hero Points.

The Training Tab
as well as your traits are now locked inside the new Training tab. To unlock these skills and traits, open up your Hero Panel and go to the Training tab, then select a track under Core Skills or Core Specializations. In order to train, you will need to spend Hero Points (previously Skill Points) in a selected track.

if ANet holds anything about their living world concept, then they will better do it slowly and integrate us players also somehow into the rebuilding process, so that we can partake on this task and help.
You know, like the Tower of Nightmare, where our participation by running to the top and injectign an Antidote leaded to a over time progression, where every player could see daily, how we progressed together to brign the tower to fall.

At first I deluded myself into thinking that every day LA would look slightly different.
A scaffolding removed here, new one added there, new Airships moving in, etc.
But it´s the same old.

What you said about the Tower of Nightmare sounds awesome. If THAT would´ve been the way the failed Living Story had worked from the start I probably wouldn´t have left.

BTW I cannot believe there are still people actually defending the 1st season of the deleting content “extravaganza”! O_o

Partly because it´s at the foot of mighty DR and also because it was my first glimpse of this game in videos, back before launch.
The overall art design is great and the events also are good. I almost miss the days of the Queensdale champ-train.

Sure but the actual problem here is that the HYPE started a couple of months ago.

And by now it´s obvious that they haven´t even remotely finished all elites, let alone the major parts of the expansion.

Quite frankly I wouldn´t have logged back in if I knew that the hype was THAT premature.

The launching of the expansion announcement was simply VERY dishonest leaving us hanging all these months. It should´ve been revealed at the NOW imminent E3.

People without the foggiest clue about coding think stuff like this can be simply added in a “patch”.
Just like Dx6000, no we won´t get VOXELS.

Have to agree fully, Snowden becomes a broken mess during the dalies.

Pretty much a no brainer what should be done to solve the problem quickly.

It really is no biggy to level a keyfarming toon simply by doing actual map completion in Queensdale or Metrica or even Ashford.
This also gives you a chance at another key as every map completion does.

Dunno if I was especially lucky but I got scraps in pretty much every chest I opened.

Between hiring 5 voice actors and paying them for 100s of hours of useless mindless banter or spending the money on actual content or even free h**kers&blow for the hard working devs(& Collin ), I´d rather choose the later.
