As my system is crippled by GW´s low performance bug, sadly I can only watch the PvP from the sidelines.
But just as I noticed in EVE, “The Zerg” has become the main tactical and strategic tool over here too.
Would activating friendly fire at least on the AoEs maybe even the ranged attacks, mitigate this a bit?

Edit: WOW, wasn´t aware of that fact. Incredible oversight by ANet, IMHO. Hope they find the tech to eventually implement this properly.

Pretty much stopped playing indeed.

FPS went from middle 30ies to 20 when I switched my x2 Phenom II 555 out with a P II x4 965.
Helped me greatly with my decision of not giving ANet any more of my money.

And yes, switching is a given.
Currently I favor Staff and Mace/Torch. Staff is just too good a mobility boon to pass up for us slowkitten Guardians.

Though I´m gona miss the torch when I finally have my 2-hand cooldown reduction.

Inside is a skill-point, so that crystal it´s pretty darn useful.
Can also be quite a kitten to farm. I got mine on the other side of the map as a random drop.

Or he could just look his motherboard up, determine what best Phenom II(ignore the crappy AMD FX processors) he can upgrade to(prefer quadcores, higher clock) and get a new energy efficient GFX card.
I would recommend either the GForce GTX 660ti or the ATI HD7750/Gforce GTX650 if your power supply unit is 350W and you don´t want to upgrade that.

Buying a 128GB SSD drive to install Win7 and GW2 on would boost his overall performance much more than a new 800$ rig(without SSD).

Yeah, looks like ABGF (Another Bugy Guild Feature).
The other day I got my full 70 only a 2nd time since I created the Guild.
Game says that was 1 day ago but the logins I was doing right then didn´t register at all.

Maybe today´s patch will fix this.

As space is up I entered shift-space for down.

Made my own personal Guild and I´m slightly stumped how GRep. gain is being counted.

At first it was straightforward. I logged them all on and indeed gained 10 per char. But next day I tried it again and only one alt got counted. A day after that suddenly 3(+30).

Is this another bug or am I doing it wrong?

Which is the exact reason why vote kicking is the worst mechanic.

Just kill it and leave the sorting out of griefers to ourselves through the ignore option.
Simple hand typed notes for each of our contacts would also be nice. So that even after a month we could have a friken clue why we put them there in the first place.

A cool bonus would be if the current/future group finder tool could observe our ignore list.

Actually ANet´s “Gold 4 Gems” is a good solution already. Properly implemented, that is.

It´s basically copied over from EVE Online´s "Isk 4 PLEX ( gametime ) " and it has hugely impacted gold seller profit margins over there.
Their main problem is though, that it was introduced long after the game began and thus the botters had free reign for quite some time.
Also the “exchange rate” is based on the actual server wide player economy, which is huge and unprecedented to about any other game I know of.

I have no idea how ANet is determining the Gold<->Gem exchange rate here. It sure as hell doesn´t seem to follow player demand though.

Jeez, that post deletion and infraction was quick and efficient.
You mods here should ask for a payraise and start banning botters in-game with the same efficient ruthlessness. :P

And yes kind Sir Raging Bull, EVE Online is indeed the only game currently that would satisfy your urges.
And I´m very glad that ANet isn´t following in its footsteps. The griefers can happily kitten each other up in the mists and I can happily battle the DR for my mats.

The last thing I need is fight botters and fellow players for the nodes.

Actually you´re right, chat(apart from /map) is pretty much useless anyway.
There is no time to chat during a fight, and if you do you´re either defeated or doing it wrong.

Yeah, groups are pretty much useless here.

And the game isn´t helping either.
Just like in any other MMO you have to create your own group chan by hand and it actually hinders you in communicating with the rest of “the Zerg”.

This is one design idea that should´ve simply been killed of or actually upgraded in some useful way. Instead to just coping it over from their old game.

I haven´t followed this discussion at all but the above setup strikes me as useless.
It´s basically a very expensive form of anti-aliasing.

Now if those screens weren´t upright, things would look very differently.
These horrible borders in the middle of your view would be gone and the peripheral vision would actually be of use with the other two screens.

I see lots of people here just don´t get it, unsurprisingly.
Typical bone-headed punishment mindset that has been easily exploited by ne’er-do-wellers and parasites since the dawn of time.

You get them by DESTROYING THEIR PROFIT, neither with a “War on Gold Sellers&Buyers” nor outright banning their stolen accounts. Which will slow them down, no doubt.
But they will always come back and learn to be sneakier if the profits are there.

Almost EVERY state on this planet is already selling drugs through legalized alcohol, tobacco and (so called) prescription drugs by taking a cut on the sale.

It´s there but is actually useless, everybody can already buy the “Heartstone” to it, but it just takes away an inventory slot for no real purpose.

Would be an elegant solution.
Just add an Asuran waypoint that ports you to the nearest one to your personal story area.
Or just infront of it, screw continuity. The Hall already doesn´t care much about it as it just spits you back out from where you went in.

Quite frankly I can´t stand LA.
The performance is abysmal, the occlusion culling errors are rampant and IMHO it lacks quite a bit of the “epicness” Rata Sum, The Grove, or DR exude.

I really wish everybody would get a “Home-port Stone” similar to the one sold by the pirates in LA that lets you visit the Hall of Monuments whenever you like.

Or maybe let the gate in the Hall spit you out back home instead?

I think I saw it work properly once in the last month of playing.

My guess is this broken piece of code is behind all our FPS problems.

This kittening exploit needs to get taken care of ASAP. Only people who are actually attending the event and present at the conclusion should get gold.

All these kitten event farmers running around and tagging (& probably boosting difficulty) everything on the map are a plague.

Looks like once you get a problem with this client it start piling up more and more.

My Odyssey started with switching my Phenom II x2 555 for a x4 965, actually at 1st couldn´t even install this POS client(10125k crash). But that went away and I actually ran this game with low(20) to mediocre(40) FPS.

Anyway to stay ontopic, after the switch my trusty WinXP SP3 ( 4GB Ram) went totally bonkers when this kitten-program is running.
First I get worse FPS than before! The HD 7750 is around 50% and the cores not much higher. The Dualcore usually ran around 90%.

Then I suddenly start getting the dreaded intermittent “lag”.
The hardware monitors clearly show that although my power scheme is set to “Desktop” it still randomly powers down to 800MHz then quickly back to its standard 3.4 GHz, thus the lag.

To combat this I first switched off the ACPI HTEP in my BIOS. That helped for about 3-4 days.
Then I STUPIDLY played around with texture-filtering(the clients “best filter” setting is anything but) by activating the Catalyst Aniso´Filter (disabling client´s kitteny one) and the “lag” is back.

Trying to stop this I started disabling “Cool´n Quiet” and “Enhanced Halt State” setting in the BIOS.
But NOW I started getting hard freezes!

Well after resetting all the settings to before the experiment, I´m still back in lag-country on top of having kitten FPS. Or it would be if I´d log on again.

So I´m pretty much done with this game by now. >:(

Maybe I´ll come back when ANet manages to fix this thing. But as a Mac client and optimizing for the POS FX cores seems to be their current priority, I guess it´ll be a while.
See if I care.

Playing since 2 days after launch and recently got a gemcard for 2 more slots.
Only one at 35 the others just started or around 25.

When I read about the constant whining on ridiculously hard Dungeons, missing endgame, PvP client performance, I have no inclination whatsoever to “experience” the (supposedly) high level Zerg.

Though ATM I´m not logging in it at all anyway, till ANet fixes this beta-client´s broken performance.

I switched out my Phenom II x2 555 for a x4 965 and now have worse performance. Where I had to overclock the 555 to 3.7Ghz just for more stable FPS, now I´m watching the 965 cores almost idling usually around the 2.4GHz mark.
It gets downright comical when I use autodetect and I get 10 FPS after it has switched most settings to max.
Only I´m not laughing anymore.

Thnx for the tip Virtual, but I´m running a WinXP system so that´s all useless to me.
Remember I´ve changed absolutely nothing on my system, just swapped out the overtaxed dualcore(overclocked to 3.7 & constantly running around 90% load) for a quad.

No other game ever has given me so much grief and problems to get it installed, running and keep it running at an acceptable performance level.

Ridiculous.

Another favorite of mine. Makes med armor crafting in Hoelbrak a very silent affair, otherwise I´d rip my speakers out..

I also couldn´t install properly and had to create my own GW2 directory, as I had the 10125k setup crash and only by renaming the .TMP was I able to download and play this game.

Really have no need to redownload the whole 16gigs just because I change a Server. Playing on WinXP(32Bit).

4. My Charr was an engineer, so building ghost-killing turrets and rifles fit right into my character’s class from the get-go.

Thanks for the warning. My 1st Charr was an engineer too and I was debating to roll a Charr Warrior or Necromancer next. Guess the Necro is out, as he can´t even use a rifle which to me it would just break this whole storyarc.
