You can try, but it looks like once this kitten client starts hating your PC it´s a done deal.
Good luck.
Forgive the stupid question OP, but you did link your GW1 & GW2 accounts, right?
And what´s with Primordus?
Shiny? Sparkly.
´splody??
:)
And why r u people dont accept its limitation?
Because it´s useless to argue about it.
This client is simply too unfinished for primetime, just look at all the performance problem threads.
Allowing only med resolution textures for WinXP, while at the same time it is only capable of using DirectX9 technology is just another crazyness ANet likes to throw at us.
The only way for us is to vote with our wallets, which personally I have done. As my plans to buy anything more from ANet are firmly dead for the foreseeable future.
If you want high-res textures you need Win7/VISTA. And that´s that.
Nope, morph´filter has nothing to do with it. Otherwise all text would be blurry.
As already mentioned, it´s a well known problem/bug when you use the small interface setting.
The only workaround for now is to set your interface to normal when you´re having your AH session, then go back to small.
Then, Vote Jormag.
At least the Sons of Svanir know a woman´s proper place.
Current situation on AMD crossfire ? planning 7770 CF
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: HawkMeister.4758
If you´re lucky enough to have stable 20+ fps even during WvW, then for kittens sake don´t change a THING and just hope it stays that way.
Crossfire of the 7770 is a waste of energy and money. The 128bit wide(small) memory bus alone is a major bottleneck compared to more expensive cards.
Get one of those if you absolutely have too much money to spare and you´ll also automatically avoid all these weird crossfire problems.
Of course GW2 could care less about your GFX card.
Yep, an underflow server(actually maps) would be a very good idea indeed.
Would also solve the same problem for Servers that are empty during timezone off times.
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
If you´re lucky and have no bugs, play the kitten out of it. If you have the performance bug, forget it.
But don´t make the typical WOW kitten error of racing through the content just so you can be max level. The content here is actually best before endgame, IMHO.
The automatic down leveling somewhat ensures you can come back and explore lower level areas.
But it´s actually too expensive to do so at high character level as the travel costs are too high.
Getting killed is also costly, as you must wear your expensive to repair high level gear or your stats are too kittened.
Have you tried repairing your client ?
-repair
If that worked though, your next problem is why the heck did your client get corrupted.
Massive FPS-Problems since the Patch (seemingly worldwide?)

Sound advice for every forum operator out there:
If your customers are having an issue with your software for an extended period of time, it´s a good idea to pipe in once or twice and clearly declare that you´re working on it, instead of having to read on reddit about it.
Especially when said issue is seemingly impossible to reproduce in house and your customers can provide hands on info on it FOR FREE.
And are actually eager to do so .. not sure for how long though.

Massive FPS-Problems since the Patch (seemingly worldwide?)

Posted by: HawkMeister.4758
My FPS crumbled after I installed a better and faster processor into my otherwise untouched rig (PhenomII 555 -> 965), so it isn´t only their patches.
It´s also better hardware.
/facepalm
ANet, if you can´t program a proper FPS-limiter then scrap the kittening thing!
Fixing dyes .. S E R I O U S L Y ? ! ?
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
The main advantage is, it´s free.
The current free server change is allowed only until ANet has figured out how to balance PvP properly.
Then it will cost gems. Enjoy while it lasts.
Very good point.
I once stayed on an overflow server just to farm resources until I got kicked, I presume because I was the only one left.
And after a while it became a really lonely miserable experience.
Maybe something like an “underflow server” should be introduced?
Bunching together players from servers where there really are only 5-10 people left on the whole map.
Definitely one of my “wow” moments in this game.
The Tengu wall on that map was very cool too though.
I am actually a fan of permanent changes to the world! It makes the world of Tyria feel much more alive.
Sure!
Dito.
When it actually adds something to the game.
For now there is only a slightly underwhelming sense of loss and meh (and a bit higher FPS ) when walking by.
A sideline reconstruction event during the November content patch in two weeks would be perfect though to start something cool.
I´m just hoping it won´t stay like this for the next few months.
Edit:Ah, thanks for the link Manoa, good news.
Maybe he will even get his balls back!
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
Please don´t leave us with this ugly pavement in place of the glorious lion and the neat waterworks!
I really hope you guys will reconsider and maybe make reconstructing it (or an even better version) a server wide “upgrade” event or something.
Nope, it’s gone. In fact the entire halloween event was supposed to end hours ago.
Just got kicked out, probably because of the “end-patch”.
Quite frankly I was getting fed up with this kitten Halloween.
Too much ado about some pagan/occult new years “celebration”.
Heh, nice trick.
I usually post my thing, and after the refresh the quote button is usually there.
Then I edit my post.
Nothing?
So they way I subscribe to a thread is still drag&dropping it into my special GW2FORA bookmarks folder?
SUPER.
I want to get hyped.
It means I would know frikken WHEN this interview is supposed to happen.
OP has a point.
I´m almost dreading the “-20% two-handed weapons skill recharge” for my Guardian. After lvl 50 it´s 3 Weapons only, for ever.
Yay.
I get why ANet decided to go for this, but IMHO they simply underestimated the sheer boredom of constantly hitting the same keys over and over again.
Something they supposedly wanted to get rid of.
Remember “Hey, I swung a sword..”?
They either have to introduce new ELITE combos with different keystrokes than just hitting 3×1 or a way to craft/modify LVL80+ weapons with our own choice of skills.
Certainly not looking forward to the eternal hammer jump.

Radeon HD 7750 and Windows XP :Terrain Disappearing Issue.

Hurray!
Looks like the new WinXP only 12.10 beta drivers seemed to have fixed this.
At least as far as I was able to quickly check. Mainly the one vista in Hoelbrak and various other spots in the Black Citadel.
Also the somewhat hidden vista in the south-west of LA. Was mainly a guessing instead of a jumping puzzle.
Will check around tomorrow on the Diessa Plateau where this error was extremely rampant too.
Maybe I can finally start trying all those jumping puzzles without fear of walking around on thin air.
Sadly they didn´t fix my abysmal FPS due to the underclocking of my PhenomII 965, but still.
Better than nothing.
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
They are a major gold sink and I very much doubt it will change.
Though even at lvl 40 it is getting a bit too much.
A new mode would be great like a half cost jump once a hour, if you´re standing right next to a waypoint.
Crafting system is indeed awesome.
At first glance.
Then you find out it´s a huge chore to try craft your gear on level and it´s much easier (& maybe even cheaper) to just buy green and upward gear from the AH.
For the brief moments you fly by your gear´s level bracket.
Just giving us a “reforge feature” for soulbound gear, maybe for half the mats or less, would´ve gone a long way towards making crafting actually usable.
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
Found it adorable .. the first time. Even on the 3rd time.
Now I do my banking at the crafting stations.
when you are done creating your character, there’s a good chance it will not look the same ingame.

You got a nice tan in that 3rd pic notebene.3190 did you go to Elona on holiday? :P
At least that chars´ boobs are attached. Mine, not so much.
But the facial features at least seem to be pretty much as I designed them on creation.
And that´s on med setting as the client won´t allow high res on my WinXP.
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
Was about to post the same question.
Yeah Anet.
Does it blend or something?
Wouldn´t surprise me one bit that it´s because they had to hardcode chat channels into the map instances to make it to the launch deadline.
So a server-wide chat channel probably isn´t even possible.
Hope ANet eventually proves my worst case scenario wrong.
The biggest dropped ball has to do with the communication between players.
There is never really time to type and most are just able to fire of a “ty” or a smiley after a rez, if that.
It is in my opinion the major factor contributing to the harsh anti-mmo vibe(a Zerg fest is NOT an MMO) of this game. And its almost assured slide into the “niche” like LOTRO (Tolkien fans mostly) or EVE Online(space masochists).
A partnership with VIVOX for free voice chat would´ve been very beneficial IMHO.
But I guess nobody had that brainwave during the micro beta and after pushing that unfinished client onto us(see FPS problems in the Tech Support board).
For the love of all round things, please ANet repair the boobs on this model!
Human female, you know the “gifted” one.
Is there an issue with GW2 and ATI cards?

12.11 are beta and only for Vista/W7/W8 even. WinXP gets the shaft again.
For now the brawl was the most fun.
Hop into the big cauldron via the surrounding jumping platforms to get a random brawl costume then enter the brawl with your skill and off you go.
Had most luck with the “Kung-Fu” skeleton.
Also you need to mine (use copper picks) a bit of candy beforehand, so that matter meter works.
Which was slightly annoying.
Though even more annoying was trying to figure out these clues.
Just use the above guide, it really isn´t worth breaking your brain about them. Hope that rather measly backpack item you get out of it will get upgraded in the next stage.
Without loosing it´s own upgrade slot!
Apart from that I still haven´t figured out how to get the recipes for all those crafting mats. Will probably just sell the kitten things.
K, a bit of a necro almost but for a couple of days I now manually logged my Rep. and it boils down to one thing.
The server only counts 4 of your slots for log-in reputation.
By now I have 7 slots and if I stick to the same log in sequence only certain characters will (or won´t) add to reputation.
The game log is totally lying here and actually seems to more or less arbitrary count the last two days for his “daily” log in entry.
Guild Wars 2, fix your Guilds !
Anybody out there who actually gets Rep. for all his 4+ character slots?

[Important] Huge technical flaws with the Guild Wars 2 Launcher!!
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: HawkMeister.4758
The only thing this shows is how inefficient the client is at handling “unforeseen” errors.
I should know as at launch I couldn´t even install the game for two days(10125k error) until I started to “hack” around by renaming the GW2.TMP to EXE.
But trying to prove something by deliberately sabotaging the launcher with this peer blocker is rather counterproductive.
Mike Lewis is quite right here.
Have you read through the various threads,
Have you?
By now it´s a pretty safe bet that it´s either sunspots or planetary alignment that have the most impact on this clients performance.
Though props to you for trying to approach this issue rationally.

Won´t help one kitten bit when the kittening client doesn´t want to use my CPUs, leaving them at 30-40%.
Also very much likely centered on Win7 performance and bugs again, so Meh for me.
But we´ll see.
Oh but he (& his ilk) already have one, they seem to be deeply worried about our 6lives.
Which I find adorable.
Tumbero cares.
Oh and kitten armor 4tw!
Basically the same happened to me too.
Was overclocking my old 555 to 3.7 Ghz and had bearable FPS but constant 85%-95% load on both cores.
Then I just switched out the 555 for a 965 quadcore and the FPS collapsed while the cores are basically idling and the graphics card (HD7750) is usually pretty bored too.
So upgrading your GFX card won´t halp one bit.
This has nothing to do with Phenoms or the other Intel fanboy arguments, it´s bad client programing. Plain and simple.
This performance bug can hit everybody. Do you other people actually read this board?
If you want your FPS back use the old 550(actually faster than your new 1045T) and overclock it or go to another game until ANet has fixed this buggy code.
As for the 7750, although I love mine and how cool & quiet she is, I´d recommend the 7770 too. Though be prepared that she won´t be THAT much faster than your old 5750 either.
See hwcompare.com
But if your wallet and your power supply can take it, best get yourself the GTX660ti.
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
Also, Charr technology has the important military benefit of not exploding, summoning extradimensional creatures, or otherwise disastrously malfunctioning if you look at it the wrong way.
Very much this. The KISS principle.
Superior in the long run. See WWII Tank War or Russian vs. US space program for a more recent example.
And lastly, I enjoy how you cannot, or simply do not adress all of my arguements while I adress yours.
I quite do not enjoy your petty arguing. Your and the others good arguments obviously stand on their own and don´t need my happy yapping and tail waging.
If you can´t have a discussion without somebody agreeing with your every point to then take this personally, then don´t.
I hope others can see the value in this question, as this whole board clearly shows that all is very much NOT well with GW2´s current PvP.
Also not every game is Eve online.
Thank god. Though every game(and gamers BTW) could sure learn something from those crazy Icelanders.
Trolls, griefers, stupid arguments because of bruised micro-egos, are all problems which currently everybody solves by running to big mama ANet. Friendly fire and a robust non-anonymous based standing system makes true PvP gameplay out of these problems. Solving them very elegantly.
Your spy argument is actually another pro, as they are already there now but currently you´re simply helpless against them.
As for Halo(seriously?), lets see how that crowd deals with DUST. But that´s a whole other topic and has no place in this thread.
Besides, in WvW we need to be focused on the enemy, not rivalries within our own server. You’re creating a huge other game system by adding in friendly fire.
Something badly needed, judging from all the “bored” threads.
Not to mention AoE is generally a good thing in WvW so everyone’s going to be using it and thus everyone will be killing each other.
Guess we have to agree to disagree. AoE spamming is about 2nd on my kitten-list of boring game-designs(Zerg is 1st).
And the more effective it currently is, the sooner it will be nerfed into oblivion.
Also one of the reasons I suggested it for AoEs only.
Sorry to burst all of your bubbles, Friendly will never happen due to one thing: griefing. ’nuff said.
Edit-same goes for player collision, it would cause to much frustration and anger.
See post above, it automatically means you can “grief” right back.
And sadly I think you don´t have to worry about player collision(was going to suggest that too), as the devs already have enough on their plate dealing with the invisible players problem. Adding that collision “n-problem” to the pipe surely won´t happen in quite a while.
Friendly fire? In an MMO? Hahahahahahahaha.
Do you know how much griefing would take place?
Surprisingly little(see EVE Online) as it leads to something the typical bully-griefer abhors.
Consequences.
Nothing would stop you(or your guild, or your alliance) from “putting” the offending person in your kitten-book. Automatically leading to a bad reputation for not only this alt but the whole account.
Military experts are calling this, emergent gameplay.
“Dude you stole my kill” , “No way it was mine”, “You suck”, “No you suck”
Commence friendly fire in the middle of a zerg while two people argue it out….
And again, an inadvertent argument for friendly fire.
It would be simply h*y*larious to witness this. *ebil

Objectives that can be done with small groups
- Mercenary groups (Hylek, Ogres, Dredge, Quaggan)
- Supply Camps
- Dolyak Escorts
- Dolyak Killing
- Quaggan island for lightning
- Sentries
Thanks for the nice list, but when all boils down how effective are these compared to just zerging the main objectives?
(edited by HawkMeister.4758)
it just wont work as a tacked-on feature.
Is it that tacked on?
FF doesn´t work only because the game flags you in some way. Nothing is stopping ANet from reversing that flag.
team kill the defenders leaving no one left to protect the tower.
Heh, to me that´s actually a good argument for friendly fire.
Small squad action wins over the boring Zerg meatgrinder.
Of course this traitorous guild then has to be fought too. Which would need some type of ally/enemy standing system between Guilds on the same world.
