Here´s an idea for your next 10 living stories:
After seeing how vital Pact Airships proved to be against the dragon threat a call goes out to all private entities(aka Guilds) to build their own.
Effectively creating a decentralized Air Force/Militia.
I don’t want to get one to max level first because that effectively makes me pick a main, and trying to avoid that as much as possible until I find one that really really stands out for me. Right now, my favourite has been whichever I’m playing at the time.
No it doesn´t and the reason no one stands out for you is because you can´t play either of them properly, as expected.
This isn´t WoW or any of the other “Holy Trinity” MuMuPuhRGs.
Getting to 80 only means you can finally utilize the trait system fully, if you have the cash. Grandmaster costs 1 Gold after all, gets a bit expensive with 8 toons. Especially for a beginner.
At 80 you need to start getting familiar with how to play your chosen weapons combo properly.
Or maybe switch to an altogether different weapons set and traits. THAT is how you get skilled with a character.
This isn´t an attack put simply a warning to not fall into a self-imposed trap.
Learn to play literally means that in GW2, not learn to chain your skills like in that other game.
As threads go, this one is pretty useless.

“Upgrading” from my PhenomII 965(comparable to fx 8xxx) to an i5 3570K pretty much doubled my performance into stable 60FPS and 30+ @LA & WvW.
Planed to upgrade from my trusty HD7750 too, but I´m kinda happy with things now.
And basically I´m afraid to rock the boat, lest this diva-client decides it doesn´t like my hardware anymore.

Dear god no.
At least after this is done we´ll be rid of the jumping and falling to death due to lag and this engine unable to actually handle jumping properly.
That´s the best thing about 2 week rotation. You don´t have to suffer long through the boring parts.
I´m getting really tired with having to jump through all these hoops just so that I can actually craft stuff on my own.
Then have “Achievement” kittens bemoaning the fact that people aren´t good enough (what-the-kitten-ever that means) and don´t deserve some arbitrary “Achievement”.
If somebody manages to “cheat” himself to 1st place, props to him.
Gaming the system this way is much smarter than learning to be the best trained monkey, IMHO.
PROTip 4 ANet:
STOP gating content through an activity that your game cannot handle properly!

The Devs are hard at work on Open World culling, so they told us ages ago.
I just gave up and got Intel hardware, now I actually can enjoy LA and WvW.

I don’t want tedious and boring roadblocks put before me. I don’t want to farm 1000 skelks in order to get 25 powerful blood to forge 1 charged drop of blood essence per day. (which is the worst of both worlds)
Let´s complain how to craft the new stuff when we actually know what ANet has planed for us to do.
And btw, your example is pretty much what everybody is already doing in game.
Running CoF endlessly to buy stuff from the market or other Dungeons for their specific gear.
Orr´s karma gear is actually the only exception to the grind.

Why? You’d rather have a tank, a healer and 3 DPS instead?
DPS is king because the only role to fill in this game is utilitarian DPS builds. You gear up for DPS and select utilities that fit the fight.
And that’s a good thing. What is boring gameplay?
- Oh look, that boss is throwing that attack, quick we need to step out of the circle/dodge/stun him/press those two buttons at once/use a reflect utility.
And killing of tactical combat with 3 “jobs” to chose from to only be left with one is more interesting how?
I´m not trying to defend the crusty holy trinity either, but killing it completely and just have ´zerker´s DPS left over really isn´t a more fun option.
But that discussion is really off topic in here.

But the bottom line is that right now, I get to choose how much MF I want as part of a tradeoff instead of it simply being a non-choice that improves with play.
Pretty much this(& rest of this post).
Even for casuals it´s simply a must and ANet´s drive to kill it from the gear is to be loudly applauded.
As usual the next blog actually clarifying how they want to do, it can´t come soon enough.

Berserker gear is the real cancer to the game and removing it will be the single greatest thing ArenaNet will ever do.

Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them.
I fear this is your only answer for the NEAR future.

I only ran Molten once (maybe twice) and liked it, didn´t even bother with Aether as for me personally it was too hard to try “learning” such a dungeon with only two weeks of lifetime.
Looking forward to both, but what´s almost the best is that ANet hasn´t even started making the 3rd new fractal one yet.
Only once we vote they´ll start design it! Anet not throwing away content. Consider my mind boggled.
Oh and, it´ll be really nice if you guys could stop the circle-kitten-swing of “I´m right-No I”, as by definition I am right and most everybody is wrong. :p

Getting that stuff together was definitely some of the most fun I had working on the game. Devon gets a big shout out for his help there. He was building the Priory events around the same area. The tie-in with Penzan was an excellent feat of collaboration.

At least he explained that new races and areas aren´t out of the question.

- You can only mine 3 per day(after Zephyr event)
- You need 25 per day to get a charged crystal
- 5 charged to make an armor piece
And everyone will want a full set because they are the best gear to build your MF set on.

The Flame armor stuff is the most boring(everybody has it due to CoF grind) and actually jarring to my feeling about the heroic part one is supposed to play in this game.
It just looks too demonic and actually makes no sense(to me).
Radiant it is, even if everybody and their mum runs around with it.

Though I noticed a something odd, on ever 2nd click on a skin in that window it seems to deselect again.

Yes they keep telling us how there are lots of people still working in Anet and those 4 Living Story teams are just there for our amusement so that the rest can work on the game.
But I´m skeptical.
Especially with NCSoft breathing down their neck mumbling the “E” word (rhymes with Mansion).
I was hoping they would be smart and start using the Living Story teams to cunningly rework existing dungeons, but the last two didn´t inspire much optimism in that regard.
Colins blog is coming some time this decade and hopefully will shed some actual light on this.

The sad part is really that for some reason, those that did understand, did not advice against it, or that their advice was ignored… Either way though, it’s not like they’re hiding with this… Not saying something, is not the same as hiding and it’s not normal to divulge too much about their code in programming.

Actually I´m not even that peeved about the obvious problem with the current content release that the vid shows.
It´s how these things actually harm us players by seemingly making it so easy for the botters to exploit this game, to which ANet´s standard MO is to nerf the Hell out of every halfway decent PvE activity.
I´ve basically given up on crafting because of the bot induced ANet nerfs, usually one of my main funpoints in a MMO.

I´m in two minds about it.
On the one hand I hate the ridiculous “Final Fantasy” swords we have in this game and the Hammer designs are actually more realistic as Sil pointed out.
Still some artistic leeway would have been nice.
And why oh why do the best hammers have to be simply copies of plain vanilla Guardian/Ele skills??
And yay me, I chose the Hammer as my first chest skin. Figuring everybody else will choose Avenger anyway, making it as common as a standard two-hander.
I thought that skin actually looked half decent in the preview, will have to swing it around some tonight.

Oddly the word disaster is what comes to my mind when I think about the old “interface”. I routinely scrolled around to find my kitten dailies or where the frack the current living story achievements were.
At first glance this one is at least easy to read.
Though it still doesn´t have the option to turn off the Achievement Spam all together.
Very much hoping for that. Those eyes simply need a 3rd state, as in crossed out.
So that upper right of the UI gets cleaner.
There ought to be a separate guide to the new system, clear, authoritative and written by Anet, the same as all the other links for the New Living World content.

What I´m wondering right now is if the chest comes with the new daily.

Will we ever get to see enemy character names(account names *gasp) or even get kill mails?
You managed to make what should be the most intense PvP experience about as exciting as sitting in a bus driving back and forth between stations.
Giving the faceless enemy at least a semblance of character would help somewhat I think.
Temp content (as implemented till now) is simply killing this game.
Here´s how:
- Vital Dev resources are diverted from polishing dungeons and open world bosses to create content that gets thrown in the bin shortly thereafter.
- A casual sees that he again has missed a cool skin or only has a day left for the grind and simply doesn´t bother with it. Gets disgruntled with the game.
- A normal player is entertained for an evening then notices yet more grind coming his way for the rest of the event.
- The hardcores camp the release, trying to find every exploit possible.
As they know very well ANet again rushed the content and surely overlooked something obvious again. Then go back to fractals and COF1 farming to buy the new BLT shinies.
- The Devs are ecstatic as they watch all the shiny game activity & store metrics and can proudly show the bean-counters that all is well.
- NCSoft is nodding benevolently and funding Wildstar(aka. WoW in space).
What could turn around this ship heading for the cliffs is if ANet uses these 4 new Living Story teams to retroactively fix every single dungeon and boss encounter in this game before dumping another Southsun Cove on us.
But from what I read in the Interviews, there´s a very small chance of that actually happening.
