While I can sort of understand those from higher tiers that keep spouting the T7/T8 was dead rhetoric, the OP said they worked their way up to T5. I wish people would stop lumping everyone that got merged in the category of Dead Server, Pvders or You don’t want fights, it’s simply not the case. T5 and parts of T6 were active enough, and the fights were frequent enough and fine enough for most in those tiers, and to hear others from T3 and above talk before, there were plenty of fights then, so it stands to reason with the que complaints now, that population on some of those higher servers is busting at the seams now and it’s a blob town. The current T4 however, can be a bit shocking to anyone from a server that was used to T6/T7 fights and had only just moved into T5 a few weeks before the pairings, because the current T4 is akin to the old T3. Though, roaming is improving, the playstyle of the hosts, the increased populations from all sides and the sometimes almost arrogant attitudes of the “dead servers” that got moved above servers that had worked their way past them really doesn’t help matters. Yes, majority wins, but there’s still that 20 something % that is not happy, and they can’t all have been from T4 or a previous dead server.
Personally, I would love to see 5 tiers for NA, where T1/T2 have no pairs and T3-T5 do. It would open 3 more hosts and provide another “quieter” tier for those that prefer it. But, alas, the poll didn’t provide that option.

OP, I think most people could agree that each category could use atleast 1-2 more options. But, IMO, dailies are better now than they have ever been and changes to the system could only result in lower gold, worse rewards etc etc BAD. So, as players, we must step out of our comfort zones if we want to accomplish our personal goals. Afterall, even wvwers have to do southsun survival every now and then because there’s no hope of capturing a keep that night

I did say “may not” have. Truth is, the borderlands certainly don’t need a group of people hoping for an easy daily filling the que, so I was trying to politely throw it out there that it takes more than money for that daily.
The OP stated he was casual and suggested WvW/Pvp were out of his comfort zone, so these are not dirty words.

The wvw big spender daily, though easy, requires badges of honor a casual pver may not have (but could easily earn).
Veteran Creature killer, Sentry Killer and Ruin/Monument capture (if it’s working as it was bugged after the borderland switch) are 3 quick and easy wvw dailies a casual could do in wvw when they are listed. You could even follow a group of friendlies to a camp and help cap it and that Daily would still take less time than 4 Bloodtide Coast events.
Also, for your daily gathering, the home instances in those areas count towards gather, for example, Ascalon, charr home nodes/trees/plants, depending of the type of daily gathering.

Is the problem with the look on the initial character creation? I avoided medium Sylvari for the longest time, because it just looked off putting on the creation screen, no matter the profession. Once you create the toon, unlock different armor / outfit skins and change the dyes (because base creation dyes are limited), medium Sylvari look much better.

Create Thief, use level 80 boost – unequip Rangers asc gear, equip on thief, run full traps, add trapper runes, follow mesmers and begin the game. Reformed rangers are the only ones that can end this madness

The other option, (if for some reason you already have ascended armor but don’t have a leveled crafting profession – IE you got a piece(s) of armor from an ascended armor drop), is to purchase the exotic insignia recipe from HOT maps and make it on a crafter profesion that has 400 crafting. Then throw your ascended armor, the exotic insignia, the anthology of hero’s and globs of ecto in the forge to transmute that armor to the new stats. Same process with weapons, only exotic inscriptions are needed.

If you go through Lost Precipace, there’s a side exit in that tunnel also. So, once you exit LP, instead of going straight in the tunnel to a certain free fall of death without gliding, take a turn to the right? iirc as you enter the tunnel

Sounds simple on paper, but other classes have a second weapon set that could and often does comprise of 4 weapons total, would an “offhand” weapon still be considered offhand if 4&5 are tied to 1&2? Also, many players run different weapons depending on where they are (mesmer focus/Warrior, Necro etc. warhorn – for speed). This may not be one of their primary battle weapons, but 1 the player keeps in inventory for special use. What happens to the binding if a player switches a weapon?

I don’t believe initially unlocking Verdant Brink has changed, in that you have to do the prologue of the story to get your first character there. Once you get there and get basic gliding though, yes, VB can be accessed on other characters without having to do the first part of the story again unless you chose to.
Another way to get there, and as far as I know still works on fresh alt characters on a account that has unlocked VB is by using “Teleport To Friend” (if you have them). So, say you access the area on your main character, but decide after unlocking some basic masteries you want to bring anther toon that you tomed up in to build more experience, and this guy is all the way over in Wayfarer with 1% map completion. Just party with a friend or guildie that also has HOT and is nice enough to get a toon to one of the new maps and teleport on over.
Otherwise, as long as you have gliding, jump shrooms and updrafts (and know the shortcuts), you can get a level 4-5 mastery to Dragon Stand, I did it on an alt account, but I wouldn’t recommend it for first time HOT explorers

Yeah, like they said above, you don’t jump to the shroom but to the branch below and even that can be a death trap too.
Personally, I think its a bit of a joke on Anets part, you finish the tree puzzle (if the tree is alive at the time), and most people (like myself years ago) accidentally stumbled upon this second JP, there was maybe 2 videos on it at the time. But you go from light, to dark, to light again to DEATH right at the end. Anyone who’s done it feels your pain.

Well, I already had a few extra character slots (sales OP) when I decided to start using the 1-1/2 stacks I’d accumulated. Then I did create some new charcters and use the Tomes, and then I went to try and purchase the Obsidian Shard and wished I hadn’t used to tomes to level

With so many toons that you may play different areas of the game with that may have ascended armor that’s easily switchable in the forge using spirit shards, it’s extremely easy to run through your stockpile very quickly. Especially when new stats are introduced.

Just like with the copper or silver feed salvage-o-matic, if you bought multiple copies of any item prior to shared inventory, the damage is done and most people don’t/won’t buy multiples anymore. Switching out 1 set is annoying, but having paid for 4 or more salvage-o-matics previously is also annoying.
Skinning the gathering tools is another option, but also, there you encounter people that have spent thousands of gems for multiple sets, is it fair to charge them a transmute to reskin if they get bored with the set? Or if the set became account bound between characters you’re basically wiping out all gems spent by those people before.

I’m sure this has been brought up, and I’m not complaining, but the marked area of an upgraded NE tower seems far bigger than that of NW tower.
You get marked going North almost as soon as you pass NE garri through the middle sentry bypass lane, and you are marked not by the sentry, but by NE tower itself going into the west entrance of NE camp even if you’re up against the cliff wall walking in. I have not checked the north end points of contact fully yet, but last time they seemed to reach almost to the NE sentry as well.
Perhaps I’m wrong, but the radius of this towers marked view seems far wider than any other tower on the map, is it because there’s limited approaching space or is this tower thats considered most important to hold on a map or is it that the radius is broken?

Indeed, Sylvari women got the short in of the stick with their undies. It’s like 3 year old, no elastic band left, grannies, just hangs right off and looks dreadful.
Anyway, I used to care more about this issue, but then my toons (and the underwear) turned 1 year old and I figured if it hasn’t given them health issues yet, it’s probably ok.
So, on to dyes, though the color doesn’t change in the hero panel preview, if you dye your armor and get an accidental upskirt shot of a human, it seems the undies change color based on the armor dye.

Healthy rivalry is good, like the kind we used to have when it was the un known “server Silver Scout” player. Unhealthy revenge is bad, but sometimes killing a former teammate repeatidly is more satisfying and less stressful than fighting beside them night after night. The problem now, is most everyone knows who they are fighting because of all the server swapping that’s been going on, so it’s hard to pick personal vendettas.

Use them for spirit shards, just open the tomes on an 80. You’ll need the spirit shards if you decide to make a legendary the traditional way or buy most other things from the forge attendant. Also, in a way, you can get seige using tomes, once again convert to spirit shards and buy the seige masters guide purchased with spirit shards and throw the guide and a few other things in the forge for Sup seige.

Before, the only time you really needed to worry about spies was during a tourney. Otherwise, it was usually a moot point, as it was extremely hard for 1 person or even a guild of 10 people to make a big impact without raising a huge red flag.
Throughout the years of the game though, with the sales of alts and friends we’ve each made at home, on our mains, on our alts that may have since moved to another server we now find ourselves fighting, the friends list itself could be now and potentially in the future the biggest spying tool of all. So, short of driving yourself insane thinking about the reality that there are more spies or potential future spies after the next pairing switch all around then there ever was before, the only thing we can really do is just play the game.

I’ll try Glints shield tonight in the forge. I wanted Dire, but the only close pre selectable option was Trailblazers. I hope the forge bug I encountered has been fixed, because I reskin my weapons alot and it’s difficult to remeber who’s got the HOT weapon and who’s got a re-skined version of the HOT weapon.

I’m guessing this change was for the solo people and smaller havoc groups.
Imagine if you will, 1-3 people going to take a spawn camp that’s been held for an hour. First, they encounter guards, scouts, cabalists and zealots, same as before only now made of iron. Second, they draw white swords causing 1 defender to jump down from their perch at south Bay to go investigate. The scout may find half the guards dead and the circle up with the attacker(s) maybe on the verge of death, but the scout pulls chilling fog anyway because he’s just that cool
. Third, somehow the attacker(s) survive all of that, but get killed by the zerg that’s now come in to steal their prize.
The point is, with all the available options, it’s no longer necessary for a scout to babysit a camp, and it’s less likely for that same camp to take less than 5 people to attempt to cap.
This change will get defenders patrolling again by taking away a small slice of the defenders peace of mind, it will teach roamers of varying skill levels that sometimes you just have to go for it even if there is no backup coming, and it’s a small step towards spreading the pop of a map out rather than them running as 1 blob to each objective.

The other thing to note about the fixer upper, as with all new asc weapons attainable through HOT rewards, while they do come with initial pre selectable stats, there’s only 3-4 stats options vs a legendary that comes with all current available selectable stats.
The other thing I noticed, and I don’t know if this is still the case bit it was 5 months ago, but when I tried to put the reaper greatsword in the forge to change the stats after I’d selected them, I couldn’t change it to whatever inscription I was using, I’m guessing because that Stat combo wasn’t on the initial list for that weapon. Now they may have fixed the forge switch since, but all the new ascended weapons are still limited in the Stat choices to start with.

Many people are in HOT maps for mastery points and since Triple Trouble provides Tyria mastery points, it seems like a good place to pull people interested in collecting that. If anything, it’s a service to individual players, not a dis-service to HOT events.

The lady in white event in Queendale, she only comes out at night. I waited for an hour once before she appeared, which seemed to happen while people were gathering for SB. Now, SB spawns every 2 hours, prior to Lady in White, it was definatly light, got slightly darker with fog when she appeared and SB started, and the sky was definatly black, but looking forward there wasnt much change in lighting. So, I’m guessing, the night cycle for Core Tyria is every 1-2 hours, but that night cycle did not seem to last nearly as long.

The current T4 is closer to the old T5 (when it was populated by actual T5 servers) and it’s getting or seems to be getting more even week by week, not sure if it’s because people are moving around or quitting, but being able to atleast see the light is nice. Sure, there are still blobs on all 3 servers, but it was much worse 3 -4 weeks ago. I had a chance to run solo this weekend for a few hours and it felt great. Some may say that equals dead, but to each his own. I know that type of play has a potentially limited life, so may as well thrive on it while we can.
Overall, I’m seeing alot more small havoc and solo all around this week and less 900 man blob every hour (exageration, probably only 80 man blobs at their peak), but, its only Monday, there’s still time for that to change.
I haven’t convinced myself to move an account back to the higher tiers, I had 1 on BG at the start of the pairings and after a day moved it off, hopefully someone got my spot before they locked it.

Personally, I havent run MM necro for awhile. When I did, it was in wvw over a year ago. “Pulling” 1 or 2 guards from a camp with minion running was not possible at that time, the whole camp came down on you because of the flesh golem running in and attracting all the other guards
. You had to explode or drown everything first.
Now, with a ranger, if you want to pull 1-2 enemies from a camp, passive works great, and all you have to do is hit a button. To that respect, I can see the arguments about no traditional passive option for minion, but it really depends on the environment.

Really depends on the mode I think for better chances, personally I didn’t get my first drop till wvw. I was playing regular pve, champ trains and dungeons for the first year and a half with no drops. After a few months in wvw I got a ring drop with several other drops of armor and rings since and a few in lower Fractals. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen in other areas, just so far, it’s only happened for me in those areas.

Well, I wasn’t responding to you, just ranting about Flesh Golem control, but since you asked.
Because, he’s a minion and every other minion explodes. Flesh golem should be a walking bomb, press once to “charge” and he auto detonates at the end of “charge” instead of the whole he stays and mindlessly instigates till he dies or you switch skills.

The flesh golem is the worst instigator I’ve ever seen. People complained about ranger pets going off and aggroing random enemies/objects, but the flesh golem? If you ever want to pull just 1 or 2 enemies, make sure golem is not up at the time, because he just goes full crazy on everything there. And forget stealth like, even if you don’t hit charge, he still walks left when you’re going right. I mean he is a pet in a way, but short of charge, you have no control over what and how many he decides to engage, it’s like you’re just along for the ride when he’s running, and last I checked you can’t explode him.

Giving a single player an overpowered buff like that sounds like a good idea, but consider, not everyone plays the same. Some people solo roam outnumbered bls looking for duels, others from 3Rd server roam the 2nd server bl ganking defenders headed to defended a keep against the first server. In the case of the honest solo roamer up against a 25+ enemy zerg, it makes sense, but you can’t guarantee that all of them would play by the rules and not exploit the buff by only going after other solo roamers without that buff.

First off, I’m happy ABL is back, because if we were doing this beta on DBL, I personally probably would’ve revolted by now. Secondly, one can not argue that every matchup thus far has been lopsided, some are just as lopsided as they probably would’ve been under the 24 server system, but in this system some of the pairings, and atleast 1 “guest” are just R-O-N-G and I hope they change that sooner rather than later. Third, if that “guest” changes to host, the other pairings would have to be adjusted too. If all that happens, then maybe those not currently enjoying wvw and the disgruntled homeless people may have a chance to experience an environment more to their liking.

From personal experience, it seems that alot of the existing acheivements kind of fell by the wayside when they lowered the requirements. One could argue that some shouldn’t have been lowered so much. But, since they were, new achievements to reignite things that that we each did (for mostly selfish reasons) but still overall helped our servers, such as yak-scorting, isn’t a bad idea to peak more intrest.
