I’ve been encountering alot of rifle berserkers lately, they just position themselves on the nearest cliff and shoot at anything that moves. I figured they were once decent LB rangers that got told by their squad leader to play a real profession. Way to stay true to your roots boys.

Was there ever a time Harpy Love was usable in wvw? I could definately see how this item in particular could upset people, particularly dead people…

Anyway, before debating whether you can and cant use it, or should or shouldnt be allowed to in wvw, lets breakdown some flaws.

The first problem with this toy is its crit chance per se. Unless you’re aiming for a group standing against a wall or cliff, it likely won’t hit, even then, it may not hit all of them. This toy needs targetting!

The second issue is it’s soulbound and single use. Like the hundreds of now useless blue quaggan tonics I have on various toons that toured Straights, Harpy love would make a major comeback IF it were an account bound item that you could stow in shared inventory or a bank similar to the account bound multi quaggan tonic that invalidated the blue tonics.

It’s humorous how unhumourous this got for T3 when rating got involved. DH slips to 17th, no one cares, 9 servers stacked like sardines in T4, meh. CD wants fights, “hey Guys go for it!” They all screamed, Wait, someone has to keep SF and DH company? Aw heck no…welcome to the last near 4 months of our lives, pull out a cushion and get comfy.

Why is Signet of Humility enabled in WvW?

If any skills available to a mesmer in PVE were not available to a player in wvw or pvp, the new question would be why is SOH NOT enabled in wvw? The amount of fluff posts about that quandry would be traced back to posts such as this. Trust me, you don’t want 1000 angry mesmers (especially asuras) beating on your door.

Mesmers in paricular having been getting alot of hate posts lately, everything from their base skills to game wide armor and runes available to EVERYONE. But, please, advocate that certain skills be disabled and watch ANET not stop with mesmer nerfs.

As many have stated, the CD on moa does not equate to the time it lasts IF it hits. It’s a gamble to run SOH even in a 1v1 situation, but its fun if it works.

Personally, I don’t think heavies should be allowed to punt downed players (even if they are downed mesmers), but it’s allowed, it’s a humiliation thing and we deal with it, usually by switching to MOA mesmer, but I digress.

Wait out this dreadful matchup, cut your losses and the next time someone says the 1st place server shouldn’t have a partner, beat them with a stick! Oh, and if it’s obvious after a week that 1 servers final score is equal to the combination of the other 2 servers final score, then that server is paired wrong or in the wrong tier and that should be resolved ASAP rather than 5 weeks later.

The drop rate has gone down quite a bit over the last year and a half. Just as an example, not to brag, there was a time a couple of years ago I remember having 25 of those things in my inventory on just 1 character and being reluctant to sell them. So they were gathered over the course of maybe a month, now I’m lucky if I get 1 a week. It’s not impossible, the drop rate has gone down and I let others tag stuff more often now.

Awhile back someone asked about this spoon, they’d been at it for awhile too, they finally got it from a vet guard outside a tower.

The best advice is to go for vets and lords, not squishy upgrade guys, kill them if necessary, but focus vets and lords most, go for walled structures whenever possible (towers and keeps), tag everything in the lords room when your team goes in. If you’re walking past a tower kill the guards, go up to a keep and kill the guards outside at each gate (just avoid the cannons), sentry point kill the guard and cap, you see a yak caravan with escorts, murder the guards then kill the yak for fun.

Remember, focus vets and make sure to tag everything if you’re with a group.

Translation: Our 50 man ktrain had to take a few minutes sweeping Bay for a red dot before we could move to Garri and beat down the gate with our fists. Therefore, mesmer portal should be disabled, it’s unfair to our squad! Better still, perhaps any defenders still in a structure after we cap it should just explode immediately so we don’t have to leave people behind to defend.

Though there are now rewards for defense, the rewards for capping are so much higher, and people usually choose the path with higher rewards, that won’t change on any server.

As for current, I can’t speak for GOM or FC, but SF is primarily NA primetime. Meaning, at 12am your time, most of us are asleep.

Unfortunately, throughout this pairing, the dominate server has had a nice round the clock population to allow both ppt and defense. With CD, where 1 server lacked coverage, 3 others were there to fill the gaps. With SBI/HOD, even being only 2 servers, they are T3 servers and still have more people than either SF+ or DH+.

The pairings will change at the end of the month, perhaps the timezone lapses will get better with the next pairing, noone knows. But, switching servers now, is an exercise in futility by the end of the month, when if doing so now lands you paired with the same servers you’re paired with or just beating currently.

A few new reward tracks and / or changes to existing reward tracks would be useful to 100% wvwers. Perhaps a track that rewarded a wvw specific infusion and 1 extractor upon completion, or the option to gain laurels, relics or other currencies of the users choice instead of clovers. The amounts of each type would need to be sorted out though, for instance, I wouldn’t consider 8 laurels equal to 8 clovers, perhaps 2 laurels in lieu of.

Anyway, something different thats a nice compromise for everyone without sacraficing the efforts of those that did pay to grind.

I see your point, but we were all base game players for years, with no better option than to buy it if we wanted it depending on the item, whatever IT was. There needs to be incentives for people to upgrade to HOT, and a feeling of reward for those that did, even if the rewards are as small as mastery lines that provide access to better stuff, better buffs, new maps or cheaper options to do something as basic as removing an upgrade.

I feel for the people that can’t afford hot, but if something as small as that were accessible to vanilla or even FTP accounts, I’d be pretty niffed that so many people grinded for the pleasure of use, while others were able to spend nothing and get it for free basically.

Since we’re talking about fractals, we could use having Infusion Extractors not blocked behind the Fractal mastery. It prevent all base game players from being able to remove Infusions from their rings without destroying them.

Except we do have, they are the extractors sold in the gem store that removes any upgrade.

The price you pay for getting fractal mastery, which I have to say doesn’t take long and experience for the line can be earned while not actually in a fractal, is cheaper custom made extractors. But you never had to destroy the infusion before, just spend more gems if it was worth taking out.

We don’t. We got shafted by Anet, yet again, and will now have to choose between Magic Find or Karma.

Anet please make some enrichments that are for WvW ONLY. Stuff that will help us WvWers out, not this kitten PvE kitten.

That was a rhetorical response to the question “What do fractals have to do with wvw”. They don’t or didnt, but simplfying infusions, has every bit to do with anyone that runs ascended equipment. Putting the line about changes to upgrade slots for amulets in with the fractal section made no sense at first, but it’s continued proof that whenever there’s a big patch, we need to read all areas of the notes. Now, reading those notes, the placement makes sense, since AR specific slots were completely removed and that is fractal related.

As for wvw, yes, we were shafted, but, to the best of my remembrance, all amulets rewarded during previous story lines came with 1 Utility slot (never Offense/Defense). I earned 2 of those amulets and ran them un-graded on 2 of my wvw toons. I didn’t notice a difference in performance.

It would be nice to have wvw only enrichments, and we may some day, but for now, we can only go for an extra slot on our rings and use our extra infusions there.

I don’t understand why people think this is cheaper and easier. You still have to get enough Fractal Relics to buy the mist essences (1 shard, 3 globs, and 5 vials) you need to turn an Ascended Ring into an Infused Ring.

From the INFUZ-5959 Vendor in the Fractals of the Mist, these essences cost:

  • Vial of Condensed Mists Essence 32s + 30 Fractal Relics
  • Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence 96s + 100 Fractal Relics
  • Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence 2g 88s + 300 Fractal Relics

So, for to infuse one ring you need to spend 7g 36s (maximum – since you need to do fractals to get the relics, you might get these in a drop). You also need to have 750 fractal relics. Not sure how many you can get on run or how long it takes. I actually have done a few so have about 400 – a guildie wanted someone to fill out their party. I was next to useless, having no AR.

So, for one ring, not bad. For someone who, say, wants to infuse 5 rings, that’s a max of 36g 80s and a whopping 3750 fractal relics.

If you don’t do fractals at all, this is daunting. Why a Fractal Reward Track wasn’t added in WvW I have no idea.

You are referring to the third step – attuned infused rings (3 infusion slots) or Infused rings (2 slot) carry over from old infusion system which had 1 reg infusion and 1 AR slot, now simply 2 slots.

It seems alot of wvw (non fractal) people would be more than happy with 2 slot rings.

If they, like me are running regular old ascended rings (1 infusion slot), upgrading to attuned (2 slot) looks to be the easiest route for a non or infrequent Fractal runner.

The jargon just gets lost with the recent patch. In order to get a 2 slot ring you can:

I honestly wouldn’t have minded re-earning +5 on my “couples” bank guild IF we had been presented with an option to do so.

Capturing a GH though, or atleast minimizing the overall attempts at capturing requires atleast 5 people right off the bat.

Upgrading, both in terms of mats and missions requires time, patience and most missions require a minimum of 3 people.

If you’re 2 antisocial people, most likely you’ll never get or upgrade a GH under the current setup.

It would’ve been nice to have Hall size options with criteria. The two designs were fine, but, if you didn’t want to expand your guild, maybe tell us, ok, you can get and upgrade Guilded Hollow with 2-5 people, but the Hall itself is a quarter of the size as the current Guided Hollow with limited upgrades, and in order to get more space and additional upgrades, you must apply for a bigger guild license or preform additional boss fights to unlock those wings.

camp solo flipping should be harder

My guess is either
A) You’re bored – Try soloing a tower or perhaps a keep
B) You slapped a claim on a camp, you upgraded a camp, you did something to a camp and the same pita soloists keep Flippin your stuff – it’s annoying, but less annoying now than it was a year ago, move on.
Or
C) You want to kill the last remaining art form this world has left.

As it is now, you have TOPS 4 mins to solo a T3 camp without being run over by either the third enemy zerg or the defense enemy zerg. And even 4 mins isn’t enough time if you happen to be on a not so high damage toon.

People asked for tower supervisors to be meaner, and now we can barely solo a tower anymore before some group of karma hungry enemies come prancing in through the hole in the wall that we made.

Leave the camps alone!

What’s particularly funny about all the quoting of my last post, is that you all said, I “claimed” we weren’t given notice for this or that. Focusing more on the individual items, and whether or not they were relevant to the topic at hand.

Similar to the April 19th patch notes, my list had several changes mentioned, also similar to the patch notes, in the first paragraph, I said “or were warned, but didn’t read”.

So, you didn’t receive an exact date, but the change was mentioned. It just happened to be mentioned in the notes for the biggest update this year.

Tracks were in Beta for 2 months, the GOB vendor was there the whole time, how long did you need? I don’t mean to sound insensitive, really, but, if 2 months isn’t enough time to gather 500 badges, and the reward track takes 4-8 hours (as estimated by several other players), it seems like the reward track is shorter…

Things/Changes Anet has made to the game but didn’t warn people about (or did warn, but people didn’t read):

- Additional WPs/POIs/Vistas and hearts added (or in some cases removed) to/from maps after players may have “completed” those map but not “completed” world exploration, thus rendering a multi map search for what’s missing.
-WvW exploration removed from world completion achievement, meaning if you got it out of the way first on a toon (or if you ever had to do it), you spent days (perhaps months) doing something others won’t have to do.
-3 replica JPs (required for an acheivement) that mysteriously vanished for 6 months with DBL allowing anyone new to the game during that time to get the achievement without having to do those puzzles.
-Shatterer meta and Fractal achiements revamped, players given something like a week notice to finish an achievement that was going away for good.
-Past LS rewards no longer obtainable because “you had to be there” or perhaps you were there but were doing wvw exploration for Been there done that instead…
-Hero weapons unobtainable for years, mistforged weapons still unobtainable.
-Plus 5 camp upgrade gone, must join a bigger guild or invite other players to your bank guild to re-earn.
-Retrain manuals gone! 10 gold lost if you bought extra for later use.
-Warbrobe pieces you’d unlocked before account wardrobe change gone/missing/ect, must re-craft or buy again.
-Multi server system/Server pairings – Making recruiting for your wvw server hard, then ultimately impossible.
-Some toys not usable in wvw, basically rendering them and the gems you spent useless if you only run in wvw.
-Trait lines simplified, reducing the number of available line choices from 5 to 3 and thus placing restrictions on the overall number of unique builds.
-WvW achievement requirements drastically decreased, allowing players playing for a year to achieve what others had finallt achieved after playing for 3 years.
-Commander tags now account based rather than character based, which we can all agree is a good thing, unless you bought 4 or more before the change and didn’t log in for the last 2-1/2 years.
-PVE Auto loot and Mentor tags not applicable in WVW/No available wvw Auto loot function until 6 months after PVERS get the option, no word from Anet that Tyria auto loot won’t work in wvw until after everyone had grinded for it, No way for anyone willing to command in wvw to earn a “substitute” tag.
-No gliding in wvw, meaning if you’d spent a day farming in a PVE map, then came into DBL, the first thing you did was fall to your death EVERY TIME!

There are many more changes/Modifications Anet has made that have caused disruptions in everyones personal goals and playstyles or made it easier for one group to get something after others sloshed through it much longer, but the point is, most players across all realms, have swallowed the fact that things have to change in order for them to get better.

If you earned enough badges to purchase a GOB, but for whatever reason didn’t do it…Knowing how often little changes are made to this game that affect you or someone you know as a player, well yes, it’s really no one’s fault but your own for not spending your hard earned badges when you had the chance.

Not to mention, the regular wvw only player, when creating any of the new legendaries, will have to spend DAYS or WEEKS in PVE not only to get a gift of exploration, but now to also get a gift of Maguuma mastery and a gift of insights.

Just a heads up for you then; stop wasting your precious “out of WvW time” on World Exploration, since it is not required for the new HoT Legendaries. There, saved 90 hours! Woop!

I don’t remember even remotely implying that I care about what other people do when they’re on the map or why they’re there in the first place, or even calling anyone a “scrub”.

Good for you. Unfortunately, I can’t remember many times I’ve entered WvW without reading atleast 1 line about what “some PvE scrub” is currently doing wrong: be it taking the wrong supplies, using them on the wrong thing, being too squishy, using the wrong weapons, not bringing the right skills etc.. I’m sure this varies on different servers, but on mine there’s usually not a friendly or welcoming atmosphere. And any WvW lover that seriously thinks I am going to statchange my Ascended gear or even bother getting a 2nd set to grind a boring as eff track in a game mode I don’t really want to play any more: HAH. Right.. Not going to happen! So eff off and stop telling me how to gear or play my toon. Too bad I’m not being very useful while taking up a precious slot for 9 hours but it’s not something I asked for so quit putting me down for it.

You don’t seem to have an issue with wvw itself, but an issue with the toxic players that reside on your server. That’s not what this topic is about.

Besides, it’s not like there aren’t elitists in PVE, every day, every map, every instance…but I digress.

Running a few hours in wvw for a gift of battle is a small consequence for a PVE only player. Everyone was warned about the change in aquiring GOB, if they didn’t catch it, it’s not Anets fault.

I haven’t been in wvw at all in over a week. You could say it was the crafting station removal, but truth is, it’s the match!

Anyway, since, I’ve been farming HOT maps for chieves, I’ve noticed one thing (which ties into another post on this forum), you get an outrageous amount of Bloodstone from VB, AB and TD.

Now, before (when I was in wvw for 8 hours scouting, defending, zerging, what have ya) I’d take my measly piles of Bloodstone, go to the station in wvw and kill what I could with the eater and craft Bricks with the rest if I had enough obi.

Now, I don’t have to worry about obi because it’s karmatically cheaper to purchase when coupled with airship parts in VB.

Therefore, spending 8 hours in VB, may yield more Bloodstone, but the karma I save buying obi to kill that bloodstone, really makes up for the hassle of hitting the pvp lobby and running through 2 loading screens to LA.

So, for over a week now I haven’t been taking up a que space for the convenience of emptying my bags at the end of a day of fighting in wvw.

Construction crews built a 3 story 800 unit apartment building on a 1 acre plot of land, upon completion, residents found the 2 lane driveway is always backed up when they leave for work at 7am. For those that lived in the area years before, it was quicker to get out of the neighborhood before all those new people moved in, but afterwads took 30 mins longer.

Residents complained to the City, but instead of widening the highway to 4 lanes to accomdate the extra traffic, the City decided to cut down all the trees that were planted a hundred years ago.

Now, the morning drive still takes the same amount of time and residents pets have no trees to releave themselves on.

Repair Mastery V + Supply Mastery IV = ???

Supply master is nice if you help build alot of offensive seige: 4 supply back on 15 supply spent sometimes makes the difference between being ganked while running another load of supply for the cata you’re building or finishing building it while you’re still standing there at the tower.

Repair master is nice in either an offensive or defensive position, but is particularly handy if you’re rebuilding a downed keep wall or two.

If you’re in a position to max out one of the two lines and wondering which to go with, it really depends on what you spend the most time doing, offensive or defense.

EBay actually won matchups in the last 6months without HoD?

I guessing beating HoD back then didn’t count.

Nothing prior to linkings counts apparently. SF for example, never won a T5 matchup when we’re were there from like January -March (I forget). Though we did come in second a few times when it was Ebay/SF/CD or DH/SF/CD and 1 maybe 2 weeks when it was FC/SF/X server, once again, I forget.

Anyway, there was a time in there, where we (or atleast I) felt bad for CD. Fast forward to present, DH…Seriously, that one week where you pounded us both into the ground, why oh why didn’t you pound CD harder? Hindsight eh?

Anyway again, to the best of my remembrance, CD, BP, Kain and ET have all made it to or above T3 in the past on their own, DH got there briefly (like a week before linkings), but think about those 4 servers, currently all paired together, in previous linkings were paired in higher tiers, seperately in the past have been in higher tiers and here the rest of us are….has SF, FC, GOM or Ebay ever been above T4? Was DHs first trip to T3 on their own the last major rise of an independent server?

Back on topic: The point of beta and subsequent approval of linking and delinking of T1 was to force all us that chose not to rise too quickly to be as miserably blobbed or blob as miserably as those that broke the system in the first place.

Would linking still win in the poll today, yes, but today, there are more people that would think twice before casting the vote…maybe

Let’s start the argument that repair hammers would put water eles out of work, or at the very least cut down on their hours. Oh wait, without the need to drop water on rams, they could just stay attuned to fire all the time.

Well, atleast the insurgence of staff eles that will come as a result of hammer introduction, will kill the current insurgency of perma stealth thieves.

Question, are these hammers only usable on stationary equipment, such as cannons and mortars, or can they they repair player thrown equipment that’s being attacked as well, such as acs, rams and cats?

If so, what does this do for the seige cap in a given structure? Another thing, if any player can repair their teams equipment, should the enemy get more wax if they successful destroy something that’s been up for a few hours?

Before these, the best option, short of ascended was a guild backpack, iirc, it was level 80, but the stats were lower and it was expensive. These backpacks are fine until you’re able to obtain an ascended one, just drop an upgrade stone in them that’s below level 78 (like the ruby crystal).

If anything, the crafting stations helped more than hurt. Taking them away has denied defense the possibility of getting a few extra bodies and their supply. The true trolls, que takers, spies etc. are probably hanging out in some obscure location like the JP.

You’re not being honest here.

Those that came into craft would very rarely dip a toe into WvW. It wasn’t their scene.

As many many many who protested this change have said: They used it as a “cheat” to get back to the exact same spot in PVE they were prior, and be able to access bank, etc …

Did you personally monitor the crafting stations 24/7 to see? Neither did I! So, I cant say 100%, if you can, it seems you’re taking a que space by monitoring what everyone else is doing. I don’t need to pop into wvw to use the bank because I got a very lucky Black Lion drop, but my fiance (who also wvws) popped in several times over the years for bank access and always got sucked in the “need help at”.

I’m not saying some pvers weren’t using this “cheat” as you phrased it, I said wvwers used it more. Also, there are still ques, so how many spaces did this change free up, and how much have we lost since because the 1 or 2 extra bodies and supply weren’t there for a possibility of help?

Trapper thief is a joke

How many of you complaining are only dealing with 1 Thief though? Those that say walk away? My issue with thieves is never the 1 that can perma stealth, because I rarely see just 1, my issue is the 1 that hides, immobilizes and helps stealth the buddies he always seems to have by his side.

If you had just 1, I could understand the just walk away comments, but if there’s 3, which there usually are, you’re talking, lots of stealth, different damage builds and no way of walking away. And a stealth trap is going to save you in those cases? Ha!

Thieves are smart to run in packs, but a little practicality, they nerf mesmer stealth down so bad, but keep broken builds like this in game and encourage thieves to run in groups to maximize stealth duration and everyone is cool with it because we have a trap…that takes no less than 5 secs to deploy, requires supply, can only be built 1 at a time and isn’t guaranteed to be triggered.

Dual pistols on mesmer (or every weapon available on every class)

Alt weapon set on Engi and Eles (but not scrappers or tempests)
No alt weapons on revs!

I know, “engi and eles don’t need alt weapon sets” but they do! Ele for instance has 4 attunements yes, but can only trait 3 (2 if you go for arcane or tempest), so if you’re not traiting all 4, most likely you rarely use them, which means you don’t exactly have 4 weapons in 1. Scrappers are op anyway, with their stealth/stuns and general annoyance, so they don’t need anything else, but vanilla engis do! Revs….why is it that kits and attuments are considered different “weapons”, but stances aren’t?

Thieves….delete entirely or give us auto deploy stealth traps with no CD or limit on the number you can place in wvw.

If portals (which as someone pointed out are a personal utility being used for that player and any one else that happens to be around) are a problem for you, then you should consider stealth in dungeons an issue too. Care should be taken when suggesting character utilities be deactivated during certain activities, it tends to get blown up and everyone ends up paying.

Unless the treb operator doesn’t have cow mastery, but yes, fair point I suppose.

How about a stealth trap? 1 Mesmer port in and all those trebs are disabled before cows are even fired. This system has flaws.

It’s temporary though, and since people havent realized yet that none of those servers, not even CD could stand on their own in a normal 2 pair T4 matchup, glicko rest would be a fruitless endeavor. Also, since DH, Ebay, SF and FC have already done 2-1/2 months, and are facing another 1-1/2 months in T4, we should be the ones being shown alittle love next pairing.

Seriously, I’m confused by what some of you guys views about what wvw should be is, but, theres a good majority of people that spend 8 or more hours in wvw everyday, they don’t go to LA or anywhere else at all and as a result need some or all of the available resources. Some of these suggestions to remove this/remove that are more for detering people that that come in for an hour or less, but, what about everyone else?

And blaming the ques on crafting, forging or even noding, is a bit naive, when you’re completely bypassing the issue that maybe 9 servers in 1 tier is what caused and continues to perpetrate the que issue.

Old bug, I believe it was red bl that it happened most in back in the day for garri, amd blue bl with the north yak stuck bug. I’d forgotten about it, and I’m sure it’s been reported before, but can’t hurt to report again. I haven’t seen it since abl came back though.

Here’s the thing, I find sometimes after a particularly grueling fight I want to completely change my build. If we don’t have garri, whatever, I deal with my stats, but if we do, I will absolutely throw my armor in the forge and swap stats if I feel the fight needs it.

Now, I have the portable forge, which is all well and good, but that doesn’t come with the forge attendant, which you need to do the manuever I described above. This is WvW related, therefore the forge is necessary for wvw in some cases.
