Anet: Please slow down pip rewards

My routine is get loyality pips on my Gold main first, then attempt to max out pips my 300 alt. As of today I’m a few chests from maxing out that alt at an average of 2 pips per tic since Saturday.

As of late, I’m seeing a lot more < Bronze people, but, I’m also seeing alot less erroneous tactic pulls, weird how that works since all those low players are obviously new…

Anyway, I think the reward gain for lower people is fine, if moderate rank casuals are gaining pips too quickly though, then perhaps pip gain for moderate rank casuals should be slowed down.

I have a guild bank tab full of cooking supplies that thank you for this list. Just today I bought the bundle of 10 philosopher stones to attune 2 rings and have the other 8 PS taking up a bank tab, 1 spirit shard was valuable back in the day, those bad boys aren’t getting deleted, NO SIR!

I’m sorry but I stopped reading some posts, because at times it seems the poster is for TS and others it seems they are against it, it was hard to keep up.

TS is actually a really simple issue. If you don’t want to or can’t join TS then don’t. If the squad rules are you be on TS, then find another squad if you don’t want to or can’t comply. If you still have issue then find another server.

In the old days, a commander would map switch to throw off an outrageous pug following that wasn’t in TS. Now a days ques make that hard to do, so what is perceived as sissiness could very well be business as usual. If you are a pug that insists on following a tag but don’t want to follow the tags rules as silly as they may seem to you, then you have 1 of 3 options.
1) Join TS then mute everyone.
2) Don’t join TS or the squad, but follow anyway at the back of the line.
3) Do your own thing.

As far as what you could expect to hear in TS, map chat and team chat is usually a good indicator of the seriousness, silliness or vulgarness you’ll encounter.

Your suggestions are incorrect and here’s why: If you join TS and mute it, what’s the point of any of it – even the requirement – its pointless, frivolous to insist people be on TS only to have them completely ignoring it in all regards. Also, following at the back of the line/zerg is the exact same thing as being in the squad and not on TS or as being on TS and muting TS – there’s no difference – as a player you’re following a commander without benefit/distraction of TS and as a zerg you’re getting the exact same experience from the player who follows or is not in TS or is in TS with it muted and as a commander there is no benefit either way because the player will make mistakes or not, flag enemies or not, expose the zerg or not, or die/kill or not regardless of TS (assuming they really want to play and are not just in there sabotaging the zerg). While TS may help some, it hurts others’ play and some people just can’t do it – why penalize people by making a third party app a meaningless requirement – especially when squads are not full and there is only one commander on a map and a que? As to the last suggestion I would say this – if I wanted to roam and kill solo, I would pve or pvp – why are you forcing me to do that on a map which is intended to be played as a zerg – a unique and very fun thing in the gaming world. I want to fight in a zerg with the squad to get the benefits and to help out – keeping me from joining a squad only makes me hate the game and the players – not a good thing for this game which I love and would like to see around another five years.

Your rebuttal is incorrect and here’s why. Points 1 and 2 are troll suggestions.

I doubt those in favor of pips being earned in eotm are only considering the the end reward to be gained from acquisition of said pips. I myself have said in the past eotm isn’t a bl, because it’s not, it’s a green vs blue vs red zerg fest, but it is still a fight and it still falls under the competitive game mode category.

We all say, oh no, I never rank farmed there, but only some of us are telling the truth.

To add pip gain to eotm would free up ques and to alter and lower the number of pips that could be gained there vs the higher number you could get in a bl or even ebg (which is nothing more than eotm on speed, but still considered the mist wars…) would continue to draw newer players and eotm vets to the BLs.

There’s a skirmish like timer in eotm, I believe it’s 2 hours right, so 1, 2, 3 pips for 1st 2nd and 3rd place every 2 hours seems fair to those wanting the easy path, no loyality, no outnumbered, no commander bonus, just 1, 2 or 3 every 2 hours.

Op the rewards are Mistwar Rewards EotM is not part of the Mistwar, if you want the rewards play WvW which is the Mistwar pretty simple.

I’ll play devils advocate for a sec, the supply at your spawn comes from eotm, so technically eotm is part of the mistwars, even if only a small part. Now, this may not seem like a huge deal, but if you’ve ever woken up to a fully upgraded enemy owned bl, it is a big deal.

Creating a 5th tier for NA and a 6th tier for EU would lower the current ques as well.

Adding the pip system to eotm would just make people flock to eotm for easy rank gain and rewards.

But, I’m honestly ok with either at this point as I always thought the linked pops with 4 tiers NA was getting pretty close to solid before the eotmisters came.

They could do both IMO, as a 5th tier would open up more possibility for outnumbered bonus. But if they added pips to EOTM, I don’t think those guys should receive the loyality bonus.

The only thing I’ve really seen that was confusing and didn’t get alot of communication about in the track is how many pips you needed for loyalty. Resetting of the track was broadcast pretty profusely as far as I remember, it even says in the summary on your ui how many days you have left to complete it.

If you look on the new menu showing you the pips there is a little tab just above the pips called ‘Legend’ it will tell you how all pips are gained and how many pips each item gives. I believe loyalty is 1 pip but not in-game to confirm right now.

I wasn’t referring to how many pips you are rewarded for loyality, I was referring to how many pips and for how long you need to earn them to prove loyality.

Last statement was 100 pips (or all of wood) for 3 weeks.

I think if they’re going to keep the warscore at 5 4 3, the pip reward for skirmish placement should also be 5 4 3 as well. Outnumbered doesn’t really help, because as soon as you are outnumbered, someone announces it and you’re not outnumbered anymore, but a higher pip count than 2 for a low rank player on the last place server would help alot.

I remember getting 300 points to max out +5 personal carry, Anet lowered the point requirement a month later…

Here’s the thing, 300 points back then were so much harder to come by than they are now, and even if you wanted to spend your aquired points on something like +5, there’s really no need since POTK was introduced.

Everything that a 1000+ ranker fought and died for over the past 5 years is obsolete now with links, guild upgrades and reduced wvw achievement and skill requirements. The only thing these people have left to show off is their rank, that proves they’ve been here atleast some time before this patch.

I could almost sympathize with those that just hit 1000, but you have no idea how much easier it is to get to 2000 now compared to 2-3 years ago as a casual, or maybe some of you do. Regardless, for those that are sitting at less than 1000, you will level up much quicker than those that casually played on a T8 server 3 years ago did. It won’t be instantaneous, but it won’t take 4 years either, and if you want the reward? Do the work and then wait a month for the requirement to change so you can complain like the rest of us :p

Does anyone else remember the previous content drought when you played wvw and deeply considered eotm because there was nothing else to do? Do you remember thinking this mode kept the game alive during that..what year before Dry Top and SW hit? That was a long year eh. I’m sure we that played wvw during that time got mad, frustrated, felt unappreciated, ridiculously outnumbered, tired of snow, tired of moas, tired of unanswered call outs and achievements that seemed far far out of our grasp….but we got through that year!

No Loyalty Bonus

The information at the beginning of this week was that if one transferred on the 1st, they’d start earning pips on the 9th. Not really pertaining to loyalty, but it made it seem like it did, therefore, the general assumption was that if you hadn’t transferred in the 3 weeks prior to the 1st, you were considered loyal to wherever you were.

Some people never transferred off their original server and are in fact loyal to a fault, those people really shouldn’t have to wait with the others that transferred this week, jumping thru additional time hoops or participation hoops to prove their loyalty.

How to get WVW armor?

Even if they lowered the rank requirement for T3, new players would still need an obscene amount of claim tickets for each tier and each weight of these sets. Lowering the rank requirement would do nothing to help new players gain the armor faster, so they may as well work on ranking while building up the aforementioned obscene amount of claim tickets.

I transferred an alt off the crowded boring server I was paired with awhile back because I couldn’t play the way I wanted to and I haven’t played my 16 rank shy of 2k main regularly since this link because I’m unwilling to transfer it off my home just so I can play it the way I want!

Rank isn’t the only factor for a player from a guest server, they could still have a respectable rank and simply not want to play for the server they get paired with.

While I’m all for rewards and whatnot, I’ll reiterate, I transferred an alt off a “boring” server, boring in that there was nothing for a roamer to do because the zergs and other roamers were taking care of it. Rewards added? = All servers ending up like this.
Doesn’t mean every server will be ktrain city 24/7, just means if you play a certain way in a certain timeszone, you’ll be lucky if you’re a respectable rank because you’ll likely have to transfer every week to continue to find a semblance of your version of fun.

3 years ago I asked for skelk pets. I thought it would be cool to unleash a disappearing / reappearing pet on a wvw foe. 1 year ago we got smokescale. Not exactly the same thing, but it works.

If rangers were going to get chak as a pet, it probably would’ve happened by now. Maybe in the next expansion something close will come along though.

To be fair, the tome drop rate used to be alot higher, until people complained they had too many.

On my main acct I have over 30 characters, 10 atleast were leveled up the old fashioned way, 1 with the level 80 booster, 2 I’m piddeling around leveling and the rest leveled with a mixture of acct bound birthday level scrolls (we’re up to insta level 40 now btw) and tomes.

For 1 alt acct, after Hot, I needed to level 1 of each profession for something Hot related I was working on. I ran out of scrolls and tomes with the last 2 professions, and did encounter a bit of a grind. But, those last 2 professions, I knew I wouldn’t use much, so I didn’t mind waiting.

Tomes don’t drop in BL chests at the excessive rate they used to, and they don’t drop at a high rate in wvw like they used to. However, insta leveling, imo is not as rewarding as putting alittle work in, so the current system is actually pretty good.

Just wait till you have to start using the assembly device. It’s not stop what you’re doing so you can craft a sub recipe, it’s stop the main recipe, craft a sub recipe, craft another sub recipe, exit out of scribe station completely (losing your thought process in the process), go over to the assembly machine, que things, wait, return to scribe station and repeat.

I had the game during season 1. The problem is, I was in wvw during most of S1 working on map completion.

I know, it’s my fault for focusing on 1 mode and missing out on those other achievements. But, think about how much has changed in wvw since S1. 1) You no longer need map completion
2) You no longer need to spend so much time learning, because now, there’s always someone to follow.
3) Some no longer have a server to actually defend, thus no reason to care.

As a side note, S1 was before PVE mega server and many servers had trouble with Triple Trouble and Marionette because of low pops. Granted TT is still playable, but Marionette isn’t. How many people actually got that achievement? I know a some of SF did because most of the wvwers came and helped a few times and once we beat it, but were the other servers so lucky?

So I’m wondering, although, people like me and even others that are sole PVE were technically there during the time, there were obstacles that prevented us from getting alot of those achievements. So, if those obstacles have now been removed, what’s so hard about bringing S1 back?

You could always do some WvWvW and buy hot mastery points with prof of heroics from the chests.

Wvw proofs don’t give you HOT mastery points, they give you hero points for your elite specs. These are 2 completely different things, you can not earn HOT mastery points in wvw.

Wow, we encountered this issue like 3 months ago.

Anyway, a weird work around, but it worked for us last time. When bringing back the salvage, glide far enough above him that you’d take a bit of falling damage but not die. Drop from gliding, take your damage and try turning in the salvage. Strangely it worked for us, not sure why, but it did.

This is true killer, but at the same time there have been countless others that fail because everyone that was there or otw was so focused on the leg and not focused on ensuring the fort isn’t lost in the process.

Scaling the health would be viable to ensure more people get a hit in, but in addition, the spawn chance should be higher and at a much lower tier. Otherwise it continues to be unfair for those that did wait and prepare for the T3 spawn chance.

This post is semi hilarious. It goes from a complaint about boss health and sympathy for those that didn’t get a hit in, to accusation of selfishness of the OP and the 4 others that were there when the Leg spawned.

IMO manned or unmanned map, if someone needs something in SW that spawns at a known location, then they should be at that known location waiting for it, period! No sympathy if they didn’t get a hit in because they were otw, and no judgement for those that did get a hit in. If you need it, you’re there, not only when it spawns, but well before ensuring that it could spawn.

My first rage whisperer is still blocked. Now, I have received less than 20 whispers despite the fact I roam online most of the time. But, what sets this guy apart is he didn’t just whisper me, he whispered half my server. That’s not an understatement or a joke, we used to call out our whispers in map chat.

Anyway, roughly 3 years since receiving that whisper (which btw deserved a bar of soap to the mouth) and he’s still blocked even though we’re both guests now. He doesn’t solo roam anymore, but he does tombstone, not everyone mind you, just people near and dear to his heart.

Is it possible to change the Raid Mastery line to automatically unlock in Hot maps without beating a raid?

The big reward is the armor and as of right now, you either want it or don’t, regardless of reasoning. Rank and spirit shards are a small reward in comparison to armor, but, if everyone had the availability of those lines to train, they may be more inclined to step into raids, if for no other reason than the green mastery points.

They didn’t remove wvw map completion from the requirement for Been there done that because people didn’t like wvw. They removed it because the GOB is required for a legendary just like the GOE. Requiring 1 game mode for 2 parts of a legendary was viewed as unfair…But when they removed WvW from from GOE requirement wvw suffered, and when they added GOB reward track alot of PVERs were unhappy and wvw is still suffering.

As pointed out, map completion in DS does grant a piece necessary for the new legendaries. Map completion is understandably important to alot of people even if they aren’t working on a legendary, however, the meta is important to alot of people as well. The compromise is coming together even if forced.

Seriously though, reward tracks weren’t introduced as a means for us to profit, they were added so we wouldn’t have to step out of wvw to get stuff we use in wvw.

Past or present, WvW has never been known as a gold farm. But, if it were, you are correct, it would attract new players. I’m just not sure how those players or the mode itself would be viewed afterwords.

So before, when some people had to fight tooth and nail often outnumbered to get levels for their masteries in the first place, now that they have achieved whatever they’ve achieved and may even have a pretty good match, we just take their hard earned masteries away and punish them all over again? The map was not designed for gliding. You can easily enter Firekeep, Earthkeep, Airkeep, and NET with even basic gliding.

Ok, I’ll go pve here. Add those portals from BSF that MOA you.

Giant moa barriers along the top of all keeps and towers that are unavoidable, and they don’t just make you plummet for a few seconds MOA’ized. No, we’re talking infinite moa, so that if you land successfully anywhere in a keep or tower, you’re completely ineffectual. Oh and you’re marked, so, you’re an infinite, ineffectual, marked MOA, but you got to glide so it’s ok.

Finding yourself on wyvren hill during an active meta is as about as illegal as forgetting to wp before you logged off after you’d completed your meta.

Being there still requires that you did the meta, and unless you’d gotten everything back there before you logged off, you wouldn’t get 100%. If you decided to help others get back there, they still couldn’t get 100%, because from wyvren hill, there are 4 things behind those gates require a successful meta.

Opening the gates all the time wouldn’t help either, because the 3 towers have to be secured in order for them to be communed with, the boss chest hill is only accessible via updraft after a boss kill and wyvren hill is only accessible from the boss hill.

It would be interesting but then I would be forced back into PVE to unlock all the gliding BS.

Not necessarily, you can play DBL if you don’t own HOT. But, unlocking gliding in DBL would be another advantage (or disadvantage depending on how you see it) for HOT owners. As a teaser though, if they added a gliding mastery to the wvw mastery line, just enough to get you off a cliff, and no fancy Arial skills like in BSF, 10+ points to master. It wouldnt matter if you owned HOT or not, and no one would have to go to pve. Limited gliding capabilities would ease fears of hacking into objectives also.

Hi, I’m a veteren player and had already completed all 3 Original Story pact lines and LS season 2 on my main account when HOT rolled around, I only needed a few more points on my main to max out tyria mastery when HOT released.

However, recently I went this route for an alt account. If I remember correctly there were somewhere between 4-5 red masteries for doing the original story.

First, you can get 3 from the 1st 3 chapters for 1 race only, after that, all other race chapters are void in terms of mastery points. Second, by completing the original story from pact formation through the end of victory or death you can get 2 more red points I believe, for sure 1 for completing Victory or death.

Once the story is complete, regardless of pact path chosen, you can’t replay the story to get more points., just for fun.

So essentially, you can only get anywhere from 4-5 from the original story.

Now, living world season 2 is an 8 chapter story with 16 points available. 8 you get by completing the 8 chapters once and the other 8 points you get by replaying with the same character or I beliwvw even a different character and doing all achievements. You have to replay this story to get those last 8 points as first completion is a prerequisite. The first run through is easy enough for 8 points, the second run through for achievements not so much.

All I can say, is plan very carefully what you want to spend your points on. I mean, if you aren’t a fractal runner, you don’t necessarily need full or any of the fractal line, but at the same time fractals offer mastery points and some of those skills you may find helpful. If you want to make a gen 1 legendary, you don’t need the 4th path of legendary crafting, but you do need it for gen 2 legends, so it’s really a balancing act towards the end with those 2 lines in terms of what you do, where you’re headed and what you can wait on.
