There are loopholes in DS as well, but they require doing the meta atleast once and even then still won’t get 100%.

Until gliding came along you needed to complete the meta in SW to get a skill point and POI. You also needed to complete a good portion of a JP (or fall very precisely to your death) to get a POI in SW. Locking large portions of a map, or progression of any sort behind things people don’t find fun isn’t a new concept in this game. Patience on the other hand has always been a problem.

How do you get mastery points

Go to your hero panel, select Achievements, everything with a green dot is an achievable HOT mastery Point, everything with a red dot is an achievable Core mastery point.

You may need to research some of the things/events you’ll need to do to gain the point, and you may need to attempt the achievement more than once before you get it.

All available Mastery Insights for the 4 expansion maps show up under Achievements – Heart Of Thorns – Mastry Insights, whereas living story map insights appear under Story Journal – Chapter ie Head of the Snake (if you have the current 4 LS episodes that is). This location is useful for checking that you have indeed gotten all easily obtainable insights.

The stories themselves also provide a load of Mastery points if you’re inclined to go that route. Some HOT chapters require repeat run through to gain those points though.

Long story short, with the expansion and all living stories, gaining all the points necessary isn’t as much of a hassle as it was when just the expansion maps were available, if you don’t have the Living Stories, just the expansion maps, there’s still plenty of other things to do to gain mastery points.

Sorry OP, alot of us had the same problem. I myself only needed 1 more token for an orange, but alas I knew I wouldn’t make it to 8 a few days ago, so I started focusing on saving baubles for another blue before SAB ended, still doing dailies just in case it got extended by a sheer stroke of luck.

The timer was in fact there, but was collapsed for me because of other UI info, I suspect that was the case for alot of other people’s displays as well. If nothing else, it would’ve made it easier for those planning, if the timer had been more visible, that is my only complaint.

Until nextra year though, 7 assassin tokens for a jump start…Unless they aren’t usable next year, to which I’ll complain at that time.

Admittedly, in the heat of battle it’s easy to miss the signal. But yes, it’s the same thing that happens with Jade fights in Bloodstone Fen. Only, in those instances, there’s a sound to prompt you to return the magic, in this fight, I don’t believe there’s a sound prompt. Anyway, the symbol appears above your health circle, and you have to hit it, sometimes it’s easier just to leave your mouse there when Aurenes circle appears, then wait for the symbol that appears a few seconds after both of you are in position. The fight usually only takes 3 circle occurances at most.

You can sell cultural armor back to the vendor for a reduced price, recoupping some of the money you spent (not all, not half, but some, like 10% I think), anyway, it makes sense you could do the same with order armor and weapons, but I’m not sure if that’s the case.

"Into the Labyrinth" NPCs bugged

I just soloed the boss on this instance. I say solo because the allies followed me around but did nothing damage wise to help attack the Labyrinth troll, and they didn’t help heal me the 2 times I was dying. All in all, just that boss took about 30 mins to beat, as he completely healed the first time I died and the second time he went from 16% to 35% by the time I’d returned. The instance itself took almost an hour, but I didn’t notice lack of support until the final boss, so I can’t say for certain at what point the glitch started.

It’s good this is listed as a bug, otherwise I’d think it was just me. What’s bad, is when this thread was first opened vs when I’m posting.

Someone should look at this, because there’s definite scaling since you have allies, but because you don’t actually have allies, the scaling is probably abit much for most people going through this for the first time.

Agreed! As a wvw player who search for carrion stats in the beginning only to realize the ascended jewelry vendors don’t sell carrion, I settled on dire. But, Dire is not what I wanted!

When these new maps started popping up, I tested with a simple purchase to see if these items had all the currently available stats, and they do. Better still, if you change your mind about what stats you want to run, they sell a tool for Edit bloodstone fen items that allows you to change the stats instead of buying a new item.

As far as the Mordrem loop, it’s nice to have as a standby, but at this point, that achievement is just street cred. Keep trying for the cred, but don’t run yourself ragged for the stats alone.

For tendril torches and shooting gallery I had to reconfigure the way I play to get gold on TT and a chance at gold on SG.

My fingers are too short and too inaccurate to blindly hit F1-F12, so long ago I learned to control weapons and skills using the right side number pad and control movement with A,S,W.

For these 2 adventures though, number pad was OUT, I simply couldn’t position and fire in a timely accurate manner.

There are several mice with programmable controls on them, and I use this method just for those 2 adventures. I’ve gotten gold on TT and made it to within 6 dummies of gold on SG (I gave up on SG after that).

Still, I feel when you have to bang your head against a screen for hours/days/months on end or drastically alter the way you play to achieve a goal, then the goal is too unrealistic.

TT for me borders on realistic, but SG is not realistic. The unturnoffable action camera doesn’t help either. That adventure is just plain evil!

That second pair was not a blast for many, it saw 2 hosts put into guests positions, 2 guests put into host positions and 1 host fall out of host position as a final result of that experiment. I can only imagine what fun it would’ve been if that had lasted 6 months.

The vote for linking time frame was done too early in the beta, we hadn’t even finished the first link if I recall correctly and therefore didn’t know enough about how it would play out. After a year (next month) though, hopefully we’ll get a chance to give more input on this process as all of us are more than versed now.

I got hit with supersonicized death off of Fire North east wall once, never knew who did it as there were about 15 likely suspects below the wall at the time, and didn’t realize till I was falling how high I’d been flung. Anyway, it’s nice to know whoever did it wasn’t hacking. That was about 4 months ago and hasn’t happened to me since, so the spots where that can happen must be few.

Since you actually die from falling though (I don’t believe your armor is broken if you were still alive during your descent) just curious though, does the enemy get loot after?

Make the top 9 servers the ones that get permanently deleted reset glicko for the other 15, then population balance will be on the road to recovery.

People like to propose deleting the lowest servers because they’re dead, by the way, they have effectively been deleted for almost a year and it’s done nothing to correct the issue. Go bigger, delete the populated and full ones and we’ll see how much server pride talk results from it.

Your opinion on auto upgrades?

Everyone that preferred and argued for manual upgrading was overruled in favor of hassle free. Some said it would free up the time of those that babysat keeps so they could join the zerg. Now, it is the opinion of many that zergs and their size are out of hand. Scouts and babysitters either joined the zerg, found another outlet of engagement or left.

Personally, I left at first, then briefly (within the first 6 months of HOT) argued that we should have free will to manually upgrade atleast a camp.

Now, AUs and everything else HOT have been in place for almost 2 years and arguing against them at this point IS fruitless.

First, because I’m not even sure there’s anyone left that would know how to or even bother to do it.

Second, giving free will upgrades to an individual or server won’t keep the objective from flipping and it won’t make the server care more about defending it, same as always you’ll have 1 or a group of individuals that watched as their time and money vanished in the blink of an eye.

Lastly, the amount of upgrade trolling if the system were reverted would most likely reach an all time high. We’ve forgotten about when someone stepped AFK right before planning to go for WP upgrade and someone else came in and hit gates or guards or some other path that was not planned by the person that had been watching and escorting yaks for 4 hours prior to stepping away for a phone call.

Are AUs better? Depends on your playstyle, be it as it may, the majority still prefer set it and forget it. Can you continue to live with AUs never going away? Depends on if you’ve found something else in wvw to keep you engaged enough to stay.

It is what it is, the only reason I’ve given up the argument is that now, it’s nice to not have to split supply between upgrades and seige. There’s less free will, but more flexibility. The only thing you have to worry about now, if you do build defensive seige is whether or not someone will be there to refresh it. It is what it is, but it’s never going to revert back to what it was.

While I agree that marking is a good feature, I think there should be some safe places for the 1 person attempting to hide vs the 40+ people that will and DO simply chase the 1 dot. There is 1 “safe spot” in bay, but it is well known by now and if attacking zergs are going to send the whole zerg after the 1 person in that safe spot, then it’s just too easy for them!

There should be other safe spots for that 1 person to go. It should not be as simple as strong arm the structure and as a zerg hunt down the 1 person that managed to survive but now impossibly so because he/she can’t outrun the dot they leave behind. This is probably the dot that escorted half the yaks to upgrade the stucture in the first place and now, NOW they are being chased by a zerg! Where’s the love for this helpless bag?

Leave the timer as is, but add safe zones, make the zerg split to hunt their bag and initiate marking after a sucussful home defense regardless of how long home has owned the structure.

I hope the fix is that the disabler can no longer be blocked by player skills or perhaps a rework of the trajectory at which it can be thrown allowing the thrower not to be slaughtered while still unsuccessfully throwing it. Other than that, a new wvw event where seige disablers work every night of the week except reset night would be interesting.

The pulled tacts and CD timers should be visible across maps as well. For instance, if I’m in DBL and EBG keeps EWP gets pulled “by accident” I wouldn’t know unless I’m in ebg and see it or click on the keep. If Im in DBL and click on the EBG keep, there is no indication the EWP is on CD. That seems like a flaw, does it not?

Your references to pve maps are probably going ro limit the responses you receive. However, its an interesting suggestion.

I’d add 1 more twist though, sentry eyes and perhaps even watchtower are ineffective during this night time cycle. It could add a new level of havoc and scouting indeed.

Most people on servers 18-24 have have already transferred to a host server, so the fact that some higher hosts got 2 pairs means very little, because their pairs pops are extremely low. Since most people on those lower servers have left, I think, looking at T3-4 this pairing seems to be all about phase 2: trimming down pop on servers 13-17.

I have 1k extra points on my main, and I just hit Bronze on my alt today. The modified mastery system is nicer, but it’s still slow going. Still, even with all the available masteries, I feel there could be more.

If I could just propose and wait for a second opinion though, what I think would be a nice reward for players with so many extra mastery points:

First I should mention, these suggestions, similiar to Hot masteries won’t unlock Until you’ve trained them, and by train, I mean you’ve unlocked everything else.

1) Add a 6th tier to supply capacity that allows a personal carry of +10. Meaning if you gather from a +5 camp/tower you have 25 supply and if you gather from a POTK keep, you have 30 supply.

2) Teleport back to fight…stay with me. You were seconds away from solo capping an enemy DBL tower, that you solo built a cat on, the lord was 5% when some third server DH showed up and ruined your plans of capping and instead capped for their team. This nifty little mastery auto repairs your armor, rezes you and and puts you right back in the action.
You can manually wp if you choose, but you forfeit the mastery use if you do, and there’s a use timer on it, so if you’re laying there dead and don’t use it in say 30 secs, it expires and you auto wp.

Just some thoughts.

The fractal people saying asc armor is only a requirement in fractals have obviously never tried to solo a T3 north camp in full exotics. Talk about agony!

I guess since all wvwers obviously just run around in circles in groups of 50 for hours on end, we don’t need better gear, and since our guard stacks were taken away from the mastery line and added to infusions you can only put on ascended stuff we obviously don’t need said ascended stuff in order to play WvW since we all just run around in circles in groups of 50 for hours on end.

Im willing to bet most 4 year wvw folks already have asc armor, that they had to craft on their own or got from the occasional drop. So it’s of little consequence to them if asc armor were introduced in wvw this late in the game.

If a new wvw currency were to be introduced at this point, I’d imagine very little would change for the average wvw player also. Those that still play would continue to play, and the new people hoping for asc would probably join up and discover this game mode, even if it’s eotm.

I only hope that if they do add armor or even if they don’t anytime soon, that they atleast add wvw specific amulet infusions and perhaps additional stat selections to the asc jewerly vendor we already have.

If you’re talking about the last 2 days in particular (Friday and Saturday), it’s not unusual for any server to be extremely active those 2 days. The rest of the week however, has typically seen a slowdown in activity, but this weeks activity depends on the view of the new skirmish scoring as well.

A few months I got stuck on a ledge in Dessa Plateau, I want to say it in the southern region of the spider nest cavern, but I don’t recall exactly. I was on the outside legdge and had glided/gliding in from the west I believe, I could see the ground below, but couldn’t glide or jump off that ledgw.

When I first started playing the game, sometime in 2012, I got stuck in Kessex Hills behind Barnaby’s Watch POI trying to jump (not glide) up the rock wall there. I haven’t tried that again since, but with gliding now I’ll have to test to see if the wall or whatever object that stuck me at the time is still there.

Air is an environment volume thing.

When I’m in Fire keep, min volume on the Environment option turns down the flame sound.

When I’m in Earth keep, min volume on Environment turns down the air through rock sound there.

But, in Air keep, min volume on environment has zero effect on the loud Air whistle there. You have to turn down Effects volume to silence air at Air Keep.

Unfortunately turning effects down also silences your character footsteps and actions.

Can this be fixed?

How about adding additional options to this device that we can exchange ley line, aurillium and airship parts for daily, like unobtainable or discontinued currencies such as Mordrem Blooms or festival tokens?

I mean there’s a vendor in Lornars that still accepts Mordrem blooms and one in LA that accepts festival tokens even though the events are long over. If there was a way for players to still get currencies or discontinued items like these, it would be helpful.

As far as you had to be there, personally, I was and I still have only 25 mordrem blooms that I’ll likely destroy because I can’t use them. But IF first having to get the converter and then it being limited to a daily thing, players that weren’t there were still able to obtain items like this (over a set time), well, it would be cool.

We started this link, the first 3 weeks to be exact with a 7th place server in T4. Now that that server is 5th, it seems only fitting the new 7th place server gets to spend the last 3 weeks of this link in T4.

Seriously though, normal links are 9 weeks, but this one is supposed to be 1 week shorter. If T4 gets saddled with a stacked server till the 24th, when having already had to put up with a stacked server through most of this link so far, that’s NOT random RNG.

The moment you (as a server C player) go to server B to get daily camp cap and end up, along with your measly zerg, getting spawn camped by server A.

That scenario is what I see most often. It’s maybe 30% a dominance issue, 60% a scoring regulation thing, with about 10% being protecting their friends interests.

I have yet to get the Fract spoon on my alt acct despite being level 9 and countless hours spent in Fracts killing every mob in every corner.

I think the above poster is right though, something did change with those spoons since HOT, the overall drop rate.

^Obviously isn’t playing on CD, HOD, NSP, or any guest servers 13-15, but especially not SF as the only guest thus far (correct if wrong) that since Aptil hasn’t seen anything above a mid T3 pairing. The hosts listed, shuffle between T3 and T4, 2 of them I believe saw T2… once! But, are localized to T4 as well.

Theoretically, I know there’s not much that can be done for the 3 lowest hosts, but surely, if the 13th and 15th place guest can gaze upon T2 for a week, the 14th place guest can too

I fully expect the same T4 matchup tomorrow, though I hope Anet realizes after 3 weeks of FA (atleast for SF, first as a partner of NSP 1 week and second as a partner of CD 2 weeks now in TIER 4) that most definately after 3 weeks, neither HOD++, CD++, NSP+ or NSP++ is/was built for the numbers FA yolo or FA+ is capable of pulling.

That they are officially a T2 server as of last week, or that they were T3 MAYBE high T4 3 weeks ago is of no importance now UNLESS they roll T4 again tomorrow. Playing out the remainder of this linking with HOD++/NSP++/CD++ in T4 is best for everyone’s sanity even if it got stale, and yes, the winners and losers of those matches are already set in stone, but I seriously doubt anyone would argue with that lineup at this point.

All in all, while I think linking is better (for the hosts) than the 24 server alternative, there needs to be a goal for our guest servers as well, a realistic way to EARN/STEAL ie remove a bad or unworthy host from their coveted host position and provide more movement / shifting in the 12 hosts every 2 months.

Linkings don’t need to be evenish for “fights” because most current hosts don’t really want fights, they just want to maintain their current glicko so they don’t fall out of host position.

It would be extremly presumptuous to label all low players as inexperienced, quite the opposite, many lowbies are in fact golds or higher in another life. Besides, after years of being targetted for the green arrow or low rank above their head, it’s sometimes quite satisfying to see a lowby alt kick the kitten out of a Plat.

Speaking of Plats by the by, I’ve personally seen entire zergs of them running nothing but cheese. Sure sure, they’re pugs, I know, pugs will be pugs.

Yes, I can craft them with another discipline. That isn’t the problem, for this particular item, when expanded, there is a magnifying glass next to the Mithral (I’m currently a level 225 Scribe). If Mithral is in fact a level 300 mat, it should not have a magnifying glass next to it on this item, implying a level 200 Scribe can craft Mithral Ingots or perhaps the Super Rock Formation should be raised to level 300.

The mat level usage wording is also a bit confusing, but by far, the magnifying glass is the biggest oversight here.

Super rock Platform calls for Mithral ignots, which is listed as a 200 Scribe material that is craftable by Scribes. Yet, they are not listed under the refinement section and when you hit craft under Super Rock Platform, it doesn’t craft the ignots.

Thief or Mes, stealth off the wall, run a disaber to the generator and have an ally blast it with a mortar, then go for the cats/rams.

It’s an order thing. Like in the old days, when flipping a camp, you’d go for the scout npcs first because they caused the most damage short of the Sup, now, you go for the yaks first because if an enemy runs in they’d bubble him. Take out the protection and the rest is a cake walk.

When I pass by the areas in VB that a group of us accessed via jumping/revive orbs and teleport to friend the first week HOT was out, I laugh. With gliding and other masteries its so much easier to get to those areas, but at the time, it was 6 lost people going “WTF, is that slime on that rock face…why did I fall???” “Do Events? Nope, let’s explore instead, gotta get elite Spec!”

Memories…anyway, during the initial VB daylight events, there’s the laranthir event chain just down the hill from the starting WP, everything in this chain is accessible without gliding or any other mastery, and this chain will give you the experience you need for basic gliding.

Laurels

After spending the first 3 years wiping all my laurels every month by purchasing 1 piece of jewelry or armor / weapon recipe or some infusion set for my various wvw characters, I’ve learned 1 thing…this is not the way to go.

First, though spontaneous, rings drop from wvw and fractals. I currently have a whole bank tab of ascended rings gained from wvw drops. Amulets can be gained through story, I have 3 sitting in my bank unused.

The craftable weapon and armor insignias and incriptions? The ones I and many others spent laurels on? Yeah, through a generous gift from Anet, you only now need to purchase 1 recipe set per weight and anything you craft or get via drops can be “stat swapped” through the forge. Ascended weapons? Hot offered a whole set, armor? Once again, though spontaneous, chests drop from wvw.

Don’t wipe your laurels guys, meta stats will change, methods of gaining armor, weapons and jewelry will change and YOU will find yourself with bank tabs full of purchased stuff and a wallet of laurels that does not reflect the amount of time you’ve spent playing.

Gear 1 character with laurels if you must, but do not depend of this currency for all your primary toons, just play and the stuff you need will come.

I’d go a step further and nominate objective defender. Revert it back to where a player just needs to be in the objective when the timer expires to get credit for a daily AND experience for defense. You may say nonsense, but think about Bay, Hills and Garri. When checking these objectives throughly, which often only includes 1 or 2 people checking swords, one can spend a good minute checking walls, gates, hide holes, water, inner and outer only to be kittened when the timer expires because they didn’t kill anyone. Players should be rewarded for checking taps!
