Just let us use Honor Badges like the siege artists use. I don’t have gold to spend on a fort that I could lose overnight.

I play on WR and what Gibbonici says is all true. The longest Q I’ve seen even in prime time is 3 to 4 minutes, so we’re short on players. I’ve also seen 10 guys hold a supply camp against 2x their own size. These guys aren’t just mashing the keyboard.

We have a few zergheads too who can’t get it through their heads that they will never take and hold Dreaming Bay unless we control the Briars first, but I love their spirit.

Anyway, yeah we could use a night kap krewe and as it’s the Reddit EU server I’m surprised we don’t have a few more North Americans from that community playing with us in the off-prime time.

This is all pretty simple, and it took a bunch of bored kittening dingbats to point out the problem. Badges were dropping so often that built out forts could be overwhelmed in a very short period of time.

Those bored kittening dingbats aren’t building useless siege anymore because they aren’t getting as many badges as before. The zergs aren’t taking forts quite as fast either because there aren’t as many badges to be used for siege stuff.

Anet has chosen to nerf the zergs, rather than to allow elite upgrades for forts, which just goes to show that they know the mechanics of this game far better than any of the zerghead whiners on this forum.

Exploiting zerghead stupidity is not an exploit. Yet.

I’ve been playing about 3 hours tonight, got about 20 kills and haven’t gotten a single badge. On the other hand, the kittening dingbats who were using up keep supply on siege stuff in all the wrong places are out of business.

Seeing how Anet has handled a lot of things lately it would not surprise me if the badge nerf was deliberate, to deal with those dingbats.

Two in the frigging morning is not the slightest bit polite. Why can’t the EU servers be started at a somewhat more pleasant hour?

Six to ten of us from Ruins of Surmia are looking for a new home, some place with a wide range of interests. Six people have told me, yes Whiteside Ridge looks good and several more are interested.

Our current guild is fading away. Even the guild leader quit the game and the new guy is a one-trick pony WvW Zerghead. We actually like WvW, but it’s not going to be the only thing we do.

We’re a mature group ranging from Uni students to adults with real jobs and familes, so obviously we’re going to be playing in the peak periods. We’re multi-lingual and come from all over Europe, but we all speak English both in chat and our Ventrilo server.

I would love to hear from you guys, with links to websites and forums please.

About RoS, it’s the unofficial international EU English language server and it has built up that way. The guild I belong to is 60/40 with EU/UK players and the Europeans are multilingual, but our guild chat and Ventrilo server it’s all English. Map chat is all English too. You wont have a problem to communicate with us.

What are we looking for? A night krewe obviously.

We’re active enough in WvW that in our prime time we can fight back to 1/3rd of the pie chart, and that’s pretty good for a small EU server that has No Q’s for WvW. Ok, ok. You caught me. It’s not “NO Q’s”. Last Sunday night I waited all of about 3 minutes to get into EB.

We can pull all-nighters on the weekend but by late Sunday night all real people have to go bed and every night this week we’ve been getting rolled by Whiteside Ridge. WR is the Reddit EU server. They obviously have quite a number of North American redditors playing with them.

What would be perfect is 3 or 4 guilds with 100 active WvW people, preferably already a small alliance, to move in and make yourselves at home while we’re sleeping. I can arrange individual invites to our guild but I have to warn you that guild chat and activities grind to a halt around midnight here, and that’s 6pm on the East coast of North America.

Are you tired of the long waits to play WvW? Can’t get your friends into WvW with you? Getting rolled at night by the night krewe?

All I can see is story line and map completion.

Everything else is either broken (WvW), repetitive (alt-chars) or turns into a grind before you see any decent reward (sPvP or dungeons).

“what are the objectives?” To own all the static locations, forts, tower, supply camps.

“what are orbs?” An object of power given to each server in their own borderlands at the start of the match. Steal the Orbs from the other servers and you pretty much become unbeatable.

“where are the orbs?” I think they start in the Garrison in your own borderlands. They can be moved.

“what does supplies have to do with it?” Supply is how you build EVERYTHING. Some things are built by workers in your fort/tower or supply camp. Some things you can build/repair yourself, so it’s a must for players to carry “supplies”. Extra credit to you if you can figure out where to get supplies.

“what are the basic strategies?” Follow the horde and be prepared to mash the F key when an enemy player is waving one hand in the air.

“what do all the numbers mean on the WvW window?” Every object in the maps is worth a number of points, forts/towers and supply camps. The total of your points is added to the server score every few minutes. I think we’re up to every 15 minutes now.

That’s one week worth of questions. Go play it, and stay away from the big red crowds, or you’ll be waving one hand in the air a lot.

For now that’s pretty much all there is. Follow the herd, prepared to mash the F key.

It’s not just a matter of paying for the upgrade. Many of them require a certain amount of supply in the fort in order to get started. That takes teamwork too, to keep ownership of the supply camps and veteran guards, as well as to slap the yaks and keep them alive.

It’s a lot of work to build out a fort, which is why so many of us are little disgusted at how easily they can be over run. I’m not doing it again.

The system will balance itself out after a few weeks due to worlds moving up and down the rankings to face worlds with similar results.

This. You Gankhead-Zergfester types will just have to cool your jets while the servers get matched up. Let me also be the one to assure you that the people who are stuck in their spawn spots are no happier than you are.

If you really want a challenge, move back to the smaller servers for free, while you still can.

Spent all my money upgrading Etheron Hills. Logged on this morning, and we hold part of EB and part of our own borderlands. All the effort put in last night to simply get a foothold was wiped out in less than 7 hrs.

On Friday night we we took exactly the same spot on the Ruins of Surmia borderlands, and worked it relentlessly to build it out. People took turns defending, sleeping and slapping yaks. Saturday night around 9pm the Zergheads took it in less than 5 minutes.

As of early this morning we were down to 1 supply camp. Some players fought back today but the interest is gone, particularly among the fort players. Quite frankly, a dentist appointment would be more fun that what we got out of WvW this weekend.

When I got up this morning Ruins of Surmia held exactly one supply camp and Drakkar Lake didn’t have much more than that.

The fight back has started but Whiteside Ridge (reddit EU) has more points than the other 2 combined. No amount of fight back is going to over come that because the Q-times are starting to build, and it’s only10am here.

It’s the same story all over again, but I’ll say it again. WvW is fundamentally broken.

…try to think of everything you upgrade as more of an obstacle for the enemies than an actual full out defense of it.

These “upgrades” weren’t even a bump in the road, and I pretty much expect full out defense. There is no reason to spend hard to get gold on “upgrades” if they are not a full out defense.

We worked hard on this, and we were there when we got hit. It’s not a wonder that people are complaining about “night capping”.

Server population wins, everyone else can go do something else.

I think I’ll take up knitting, or maybe piano lessons. That might be more fun.

Seriously, we just spent over 20 hours building, walking yaks, taking back supply points, fending off the charges, taking turns sleeping, and we had our fort pretty much done with all possible upgrades including a waypoint and the best possible guards.

One of the other servers, names are not important, overran us in less than 5 minutes.

If WvW success comes down to server population then I see no reason to continue playing that part of the game.

I have pretty much had it right up to my eyeballs with the Trading Post.

“when it’s ready” has turned into a sick joke.
