We could survive just fine in T7 if the other 2 servers were also T7 sized. As things stand on the EU server ladder there are several competitive servers in T5/6 and every week one of them get tossed down the stairs to T7.
For 3 weeks now we’ve been getting treated like red headed step children, and it’s all just the way the Glicko system works. Some weeks we can pick up server points against better servers (because of a large difference in scores) and some weeks we can’t.
This week we haven’t been able to do that but the problem comes from real life. It’s the Easter/Spring Break in Germany and we’re up against 2 German servers. Playing today hasn’t been much fun.
Agreed, and I like that I have something in WvW that is going to take some serious play hours to accomplish. I’m loving the new system.
I’ve already put some serious play in the game and in WvW. We got no recognition for that, just like we got no recognition with laurels for all the PvE achievement points. It’s all pretty miserly but hey, that’s game devs these days and Anet is turning out to be no better than the rest.
As for the rest of the new WvW stuff, I don’t need any of the armor or weapons options, so I won’t complain about the dual currencies needed to buy them, except to say that’s pretty miserly too. How are we supposed to earn that gold in WvW? We can’t even alt-farm the PvE bosses anymore.
Anyway, where is the ascended stuff? Where is the unique WvW Ascended item? The unique WvW Ascended item that you can’t get in the dungeons, fractals, from bosses, with laurels, or karma.
I hope i can buy ascended gear with tokens and without doing daylies for more then a month, because i refuse to do pve.
I was hoping for an exclusive WvW ascended item too but we’re already been told it isn’t going to happen. Too bad really. It would be a lot of fun to watch these forums erupt with screaming PvE players telling us how much this isn’t fair.
It would be fun in game too, as clueless PvE players show up and get slaughtered.
Sadly, all we’re getting in terms of skins/gear is the stuff that the PvE players already, aka, what we should have had available when the game launched.
The Warp guild had our weekly WvW event last night on the Dzag map and it was about all we could do to hold the Redbriar tower against alternating zergs from both Millers and the Dzags. We lost it eventually but it was a couple of hours of good fun, and good keep/camp management. Running for supplies is a tricky business when there are two zergs out there!
The one thing that stood out though, we ran all the supply camps first just to take down anything that was upgraded. The Dzags didn’t hit us even once at the camps. This would never happen on the Ring of Fire.
Obviously every server would love to have a 300+ players guild join them, so I’ll throw out the invite too.
The only thing holding the Ring of Fire down is the complete lack of a night capping team. We’re in T7 of the Eu servers but we can fight T5/6 servers to a standstill in the prime time. Of course we would love to have you join us.
As for your playing style, I suspect you would be right at home with the way the Warp guild plays the game. We play a lot of defense but we know how to fight too, and we love ninja tactics. We’re well known for taking major keeps with only 1 golem.
I pity you for reading the Flamewar ^^
The funny part is that players still accuse the German servers of double-teaming, or alliances against the third server. You guys actually hate each other.
Not all of us are left out. We have more than a few German speakers on RoF. I rarely post on the DE boards because I can’t touch type in German. The keyboard layout is different, and besides that, I can’t spell to save my life.
Why do people keep asking this stupid question? Of course not.
It looks for me like we really hurt some egos last week on RoF.
You didn’t hurt any egos, you just kitten us off by attacking our borderland when you would have been far better off defending your own. RoF players take pride in being able to hold our borderland and even this week we haven’t gone adventuring too far unless there is a solid team defending at home.
What’s really hurting us is a lack of a morning team.
At this point in time, finish and forget is starting to sound good, before we’re handed even more gated and exclusionary material.
So, where is the finish line please?
There is no single finish line, but you sound as if you have reached yours.
So just for good measure let’s add time managed content and constant nerfs on drops. How in the world does anyone think these things are acceptable?

Of the news that I could have woken up to today, this wasn’t really high on my list of favorites.
I’ve been running all bosses with all characters but that’s about to die. Back to CoF p1 while we still can because sure as kitten that’s on the list to be nerfed too.
Seriously, taking a break will leave you so far behind in gear and currency that you’ll never catch up again. It’s treadmill game design and players must make choice. Stay on the treadmill, or find a new game?
Yes Ilesyt, it’s just you.
In other news I would like to thank the RoF commanders for their support tonight at the Warp guild event. We wanted to wreck the place and take their Bay keep. We got it done eventually. In particular, Sheepie! You are awesome!
The Dzag’s are going to have to reconsider their plans, because RoF is going to their borderlands for the rest of this week.
The trash talk about the Dzag server mostly came from one player, and he doesn’t play on RoF.
Why can’t they just answer these questions here?
Yes I know VERY much how dzag likes to focus on Second and not on first and I think RoF is realizing that too.
It’s funny because you act like you guys don’t do the same. But it’s human nature to make some1 else responsible for his own misery.
That guy doesn’t play on the Ring of Fire.
This is going to be a long week.
A lot of things in this game are anti-fun. Quit doing those things.
Ascended gear already had a drastic impact on the population. A kittenton of people quit the day that stuff was announced, and even more quit once they tried the Fractals.
Gated content, no matter what the gate, is just not keeping people happy.
I said it before in this thread. We RoF players have got to forget EB. We don’t have the players to hold any points there against a T5/6 server, but we could probably hold quite a bit against the Dzag’s if we take our offense there.
We built Fortress RoF last week and it lasted until Wednesday when players lost interest. We can build it again and Warp will be there to build. I really want to encourage our offense minded commanders to ignore the calls “let’s go to EB!!!!”.
Go and hit the Dzag’s so that we can firm up our position in T7. Let’s go for second place this week.
Not to take away from the OP and his anger (I would be kitten off too…), but there are fast and simple Shiverpeaks events for the daily back in Wayfarer’s Hills. The daily took me about 30 minutes last night and it was that long because I decided to wait for the Maw event. Basically, when parts of the game are no longer fun just stop doing them.
These days I’m down to shuffling 5 level 80 characters between world bosses/events. Oh, and the daily in order to keep up with that gear grind. A bit of WvW after that to flip some camps and earn some guild influence and chat with friends.
This game is not living up to the pre-release hype, never mind the manifesto.
Fractals. No thanks. Time gates? Nope. Excluding players based on guild size? Not smart Anet, just not smart.
I can hardly wait for an Ascended piece (let’s say all-stat weapons) to be introduced to WvW, and exclusively to WvW. I’m sure you’ll all rediscover your rage.

Why? I’ve been known to put down more than one fest at prime times. Steaks for power/prec, Soups for prec/crit dmg, pizzas for condition dmg. I leveled my crafts and have found a use for this one. Why should I have to give that up?
I got screwed hard enough this week thanks. You don’t like foods, don’t use them.
Haha, I was kind of thinking the same as Jikap. :p
We can beat the Dzags, but we’re going to have to forget EB.
Defense on our borderland, Offense on the Dzags borderland.
That’s how we can take 2nd place.
Yeah, that’s also what I think. T8 has pretty balanced matchup atm. The problem is, we seem to have 4 T6 servers, 2 T7, again 4 T8 and 2 T9
I don’t mind that really. It should help to keep our matchups fresh. I mean, who really wants to be playing against the same two opponents week after week.
As for the German language thread, I didn’t post there at all this week because as Jathres said it was mostly about the routing/lag/disconnection problem that most German players have had to deal with this week. I’ve had several nights that I simply couldn’t play.
And as for the two language based servers “picking on the third”, I really don’t think that’s happening. The Dzags regularly lose a lot of their borderlands and EB space as Miller’s goes back and forth between the two of us. It’s only natural that both red and blue servers will invade each other regularly to make up for that, and there’s probably a lesson there for us for next week.
We’re going to meet the Dzag’s again next week. We’ll have to be just relentless on offense in their borderland, as we have been relentless on defense (until today of course) on our own borderland.
Am I the only one that gets the idea that they are thinking about adding mounts of some sort?
I’m sure Colin just did a /facedesk.
The people I play with pretty much expect a commander to be able to yell LEEEERROY, walk that walk and survive it. You’re not going to be much of a commander if you’re constantly running back to the fight, from a waypoint.
I’m about to buy the commander tag for my mesmer and I plan to change to the Cathedral of Verdance clothing set.
They need server help too. Lag is killing us.
Every single night. Lags and crash. Not fun Anet.
Lag started about an hour ago, then came the disconnects. Now I can’t even log in to the game It’s peak playing time here in Europe and we have guild events planned for the night. Great.
Even my wife is telling me I should find a new game.
Just think of them as a badge farm. There should be a universal peace treaty around bots, and we farm them. I earned a stack of badges off of those guys last week.
I’m asking because we in the Shadows in the Warp [Warp] guild have just completed holding our own borderland Garrison Keep for 2 complete weeks in a row. I’m pretty much certain that’s something of a record. We play on the Ring of Fire server, and yes the last 2 weeks have been fun, but a bit lopsided in terms of WvW populations.
Still, it’s not like the other servers didn’t try and we had several really close calls. We’re playing defense here, and I think it shows.
We also didn’t do this alone. Just to name a few, Pain Intended was often nearby, as was Darkstorn from ICON. Darth Ripper was seen daily on our border and Thorn Stars was around too. Cap Plox too. The Rift Knight [MoRs]. We called on them, but our go to commander of choice was Anya of the Mists. He posts here as Pejot.
Anya came every single time we called. Awesome help, is just awesome.
The other thing you have to understand is that some of these guys fight like cats and dogs on the teamspeak server. It’s sort of fun to listen to the stories, but they put all that stuff aside when Warp calls for help. We really appreciate that sort of respect.
That’s enough congratulations and self-congratulations, and let’s get back to the headline. What is your guild record for claiming and holding a keep or tower? I would love to hear some stories.
Yerk, again tonight. Are we going to deal with this all weekend again?
C’mon, figure it out.
Yeah, we’re looking forward to being the baloney in this sandwich, but we’re prepared for it. We’ve had a couple of good discussions between WvW guild leadership type and we have a plan. Let’s see if it survives contact with the enemy.
I’ve been sitting on my perch in our Garrison for most of my playing time this week, and I’m tired of it. Someone else can claim, upgrade and defend the major points next week.
Like the sign say, and why not? It’s just one more bit of fun for guildies in WvW.
Can someone check into a WSR level 80 ranger with FLKR guild tag that’s been botting/hacking on the quaggens in RoF BL next to hills for the past 4 hours please. I have about 5 minutes of fraps footage of me killing him with no retaliation having another 2 or 3 chars next to him ressing himself then me killing those also then all of them reappearing instantly back at the site to continue botting on the krait there.
We spent a couple of hours killing (badge farming) those guys yesterday, and they were reported several times. They’re back again today. Oh well…
Dear all. Please do not judge all ROS players on a few self obsessed individuals. We are not all like that
For me, the fun part about this thread is that I know the Blacktide and Whiteside Ridge players have been reading it, and now they know exactly how to beat Surmia. They’re going to move into the Surmia borderland tonight and make themselves at home.
Some time tomorrow afternoon Ilyset will be back here on the forum complaining about how unfair this is. By about late Monday or early Tuesday morning he’ll be threatening to take his ball and go home.
If Arborstone could bootstrap themselves they would be out of the death zone in a couple of weeks.
It’s a problem now because loot drop rates have been solved, and Final Rest has been confirmed to drop from the Behemoth. So dragon and behemoth events are swarmed and local players are often pushed off to overflow. It’s been a constant problem this week.
And this is a new thread because it contains a solid suggestion on how to handle the problem. I could have put it in the suggestions thread and I no doubt some dead piece of weight will move it there, but in the mean time it will get more visibility here.
That should stop the horde from invading just as every good event comes up.
Honestly, this is even more disruptive to the game than WvW guild changes ever was.
Scout them a head of time and have someone hold them in position. There’s absolutely no reason that you should fail if you plan ahead.
Unless you’re a small guild and don’t have the manpower for it. And then there’s the problem of other guilds also on the hunt. If they draw one that you’ve found and are tracking you have to start all over again looking for that mob.
We had exactly this problem last night. There were obviously 4 or 5 guilds searching for mobs, to start tracking them. We even invited a group from another guild to rep us for the event so that they could get the rewards too (I thought we were small… oh, boy).
Anyway, a couple of the other guilds started triggering their Hunt and were fighting mobs. We only had 9 or 10 found but decided to trigger ours too, hoping to get lucky. It turned out that we had the position of both targets we were given, but there were other guilds already on them. We dove in too and got both down, but now I know why I’m hearing complaints about how hard Kamali can scale.
This whole concept isn’t thought out very well. This isn’t Guild Wars 2, it’s Guild vs Guild Raid Wars, and now they want more spawn spot bosses like Sotzz? Seriously?
In some ways it’s good that there is little incentive to do these more than once per week, because I’ve got better things to do with my time. Piano lessons are looking good.
This is not the slightest bit funny. Flash sales in a world wide game?
Anet is trying to kitten us off yet again, and it’s working.
They really didn’t learn a single thing from the karka event.
As far as next week goes I think we in RoF simply have to build Fortress RoF on our own borderland. The way the Glicko scoring systems works and because our server score is well below both Abbadon’s and the Dzag’s we could pick up points if we can hold our own borderland. We’re doing exactly that this week with a fairly small force. Imagine what we could do if all of our WvW players came out and played defense for a change.
I know playing defense isn’t popular among our players, and we wont win the week doing that, but we’re going to have to try some new ideas against higher tiered servers.
If XT and the “blacktide alliance” have left Surmia then they are doomed to fall back to the bottom tier. The people who are left there have no clue how to play defense. In these days of 24 player ninja teams constant zerging isn’t going to build a good server score.
…And no you’re not getting your own share of the pie and instead going after our share.
Who said it was yours? You? Then go take it back.
I just tried the Sigil of Perception on my offhand but i can’t see any diference on my stats. It´s as if it won’t add to the critical hit chance value. Can anybody confirm this?
Knight GS and Szepter+Focus (with the Sigil of perception) will give me the same Crit Chance value
You know you have to actually go out and kill 25 mobs with that focus weapon equipped in order to build your stack of precision? Check your crit chance before and after those 25 kills.
That precision stack stays with you when you change weapons, and now you have a greater change to to apply the vulnerability condition because you are hitting crit more often.
Perhaps you mean the sPvP stuff? Those can be bought from a vendor in the Heart of the Mists, but they aren’t useable outside that area and there is no specific “Berserker’s Jewel” for WvW.
A jeweller can craft rings and other items with Berserker’s stats, but not that Jewel that is used in sPvP.
