I didn’t find any emotes on my griffon. I was pretty bummed when I couldn’t curl up all adorable like and /sleep.

Go for the skin. I doubt ascended weapons will be out anytime soon. I don’t understand why people are even worrying about this right now.
I especially don’t understand why you’d be worrying when you apparently have very little time to play. Just go for the skin. That’s what GW is all about. Sure, legendaries will some day in the future be better than exotics, but really. Why even think about that now. Look cool first. Besides, if it’s going to take you that long to get whatever you want, you might have some notice about ascended weapons should they come sooner than expected. Then, you can just use whatever you’ve saved for whatever and possibly put it towards the legendary/ascended if you still care.
Another thing, I thought they said they might be releasing more legendaries at some time. So I’d suggest against going for a legendary you’re meh about and get what you love. Maybe someday they’ll release a legendary that you love just as much as Ilya. If so, go for that one.

It’s cheaper to make them than to buy them already made on the TP. I spend 9 gold and made 32 rares. I already had some mithril and elder wood, but not many of the T5 mats. It might be cheaper now since the last time I checked, the T5 mats were basically all below a silver. When I did this a few weeks ago, they were all around 1s20c.

Is it profitable? It depends. On my first two tries with 24 rare staves, I made my money back and then some because I sold all the exotics I got back out of the forge. The third time I did 24, I got maybe 1 exotic. When I did 32, I got 0 exotics. Salvaged my last two rares and got four ectos. It depends on whether the RNG gods are smiling on you.

I ran 4 levels of fractals and a path of AC and the only rares I got were a ring and a back piece. I usually get at least a single rare per fractal run. I’d say drop rates were off, but I think it was just a bad week for my friendship with RNG as everyone else in my group got multiple rares, exotics, and even charged lodestones.

I don’t think that selling those things would have made the difference from 6 to 14 gold.
Honestly, I don’t craft to make money. I craft to level and even that is done sparingly as I work towards a legendary, which means every material and gold count.

I think that making lvl 400 exotics can be profitable. I checked the TP yesterday because I wanted to outfit my Ranger in Knight’s gear. To buy 4 pieces, it was 14 gold. To make the 4 pieces, it was about 4 gold. I did have 10 of the 20 Armored Scales and 10 of the 20 Ectos, but that would take it up to maybe 6 gold. Still a profit.

Path 3 is the speed run path currently and also the path that seems to bug the least.

Takes about 20-25min once you know what you are doing and can kill GL quickly.

I’m attempting to get tokens for the Bifrost and was wondering if anyone knew a good Arah guide or some tips. My guild is looking to start doing runs daily-ish. I’ve found a few youtube videos that have walk throughs, but I couldn’t find much on these forums.

It would be incredibly helpful if anyone had any preferences for guide videos.

I’ve heard that if you open their name in a Whisper, you can still report them. I haven’t tried it, so I’m not sure. It’s a bit faster to right click and whisper than to right click, report, select type, send report.

Hi, So the token prices for light armor at the SE dungeon vender are incorrect. The shoulders are listed at 300 tokens and the gloves are at 310. Meanwhile, the chest piece is listed for 210 and the pants are sitting at 180.
To me, this seems exploitable and I have reported it a few times.
It’s also very annoying to someone who wants the shoulders, but would like to pay the actual price. SPOILER: I just bought them for 300 tokens because I wanted them that badly.

I might be wrong that this is messed up. Maybe you guys are just having a secret sale.

[EDIT] This is on Ehmry Bay. Not sure if server matters in this situation.

I wouldn’t let this thread discourage you so much. I know my guild is currently in the fractals and having no problems. Same with a few of my other in game friends. I’m sure a lot of people are dealing with these bugs, but plent of others are not.

Man I cannot wait to get off of work to go check it out. My guildie is telling me about the fractals he’s been in and it sounds so awesome!!!

I run dungeons because they’re fun and profitable for me. I dont always run then in MF, and this might be an incentive to run it more often in MF, but I tend to make decent money regardless. I can make 3g a day just doing 3 or 4 dungeon runs. Albeit one of those is HotW which is notorious for filling up your bags. I don’t enjoy farming Orr that much unless I go with my guildies, so to me dungeons are a great way to get money.

These bags are really nice to me. Sure, 3 is a strange number. I will now be left with stacks of 18 or some weird number that is just incredibly annoying to me, but hey. More tokens for doing what I have been doing. The karma is also nice, especially if you save it for a booster. Any karma is helpful. Any silver is helpful too.

I appreciate that they added something that they didn’t necessarily NEED to add. IMO dungeons weren’t that bad before, and now they are slightly better. Everyone is just complaining that they can’t make gold fast enough. I’d rather them focus on fixing the broken dungeons instead of making these bags even better.

My friend is trying to find these runes for his thief. How do you get these? I read somewhere that you have to combine four superior runes in the mystic forge and hope you get an eagle. Is that the only way?

Now that the event is over I can finally take time to post some screens here haha.

Thanks for all the responses. That makes sense that they’d break off the tree young. Not sure why I didn’t even think of that.

I’ve read that sylvari can’t have kids because they are born from the Pale Tree. I’ve also seen that Sylvan Hounds come from the pale tree as well, but you see plenty of puppy sylvan hounds around Caledon Forest and probably a few other places.

Is there any lore about this? Like, did the original sylvan hounds come from the tree, but they had to breed to continue the species?

Does this mean that sylvari could theoretically have children?

I love the attainable, but still tough, achievements. I feel like a lot of other games’ holiday achievements are nearly impossible to get during one festival. These one’s seem like I can finish them up in this week, hopefully. For an achievement kitten, that’s pretty awesome.
I also love the witch costume. The face your character makes while riding the broom is awesome

So far, that’s all I’ve found for the halloween event. I don’t think there are any actual quest lines yet. I believe the next chapter starts on the 26th, so maybe things will start to ramp up then. Until friday, I’d say keep carving pumpkins and mining candy corn!

I hope one of the dev’s addresses this soon. Seriously hoping that it isn’t a one time event, or at least not a one time event that gets you one of the halloween achievements. I am working towards the Halloween title and would hate it if, in order to see this event and get the achievement, I’d have to tell my bf’s family to hold on for an hour while I stand around LA.
Someone above mentioned that they’d have to do it only one time if they needed a lot of players for the event. I don’t think this is valid. Look how many people show up every three hours when the dragons spawn.

Yeah, there’s like fifty people in the treasure room on Ehmry Bay, making it basically impossible to spawn him. I’m not sure if it’s a bug, or just people standing where he’s supposed to spawn which prevents him from appearing. I’m going to go back in and try once or twice more to get this, but might just have to wait for people to find other things to do.

This is happening on Ehmry Bay too. I heard that if someone is standing on the spawn point, he wont spawn. So with everyone crowding the area just waiting and a lot of people standing right where he’ll spawn, it’s nearly impossible. I was hoping that doing this during off hours would help, but still tons of people.

I usually just switch to my back-up weapons. I main Staff with back-up being double swords or greatsword. Those attacks tend to take them out pretty quick.
I like the above mentioned iWarden idea, but I don’t really use the focus.

This ^^. My bf is constantly peeking over my shoulder watching me take on Veterans my level with their adds and muttering about how he should roll a mesmer. If you know how to play, then you can be really awesome.

I was worried about dungeons too. I had originally rolled a ranger which can have some decent support for dungeons. After reading all this, I no longer am afraid to look for a group. I’m going to try a healing build that I saw in another thread.

I have always felt powerful as a Mes in PvE. I run staff as my main and then backup GS. I have no problem taking on multiple mobs. When I was level 24 I attacked a lvl 25, not realizing how fast the others were spawning around me, and ended up taking on about six lvl 25s with no problems.
I have some problems with close quarters, but I was doing the heart in Gendarran where you fight the veteran beasties in the tiny cages and I had very little problems. Even when they popped some poison into the air, I just waited on the edge or threw up null field.
Sometimes it can take me awhile to kill a single mob, but then I start pulling a few more in and I can kill two or three in the same amount of time. It’s all more exciting that way

This was happening to be in the jump puzzle in a borderland. I was running through and saw a few corpses. After about five minutes the corpses disappeared and a huge wave of players came rushing in to kill all of us in the puzzle. It’s very annoying. I’ve also seen people do it after we take back supply camps. One or two people will stay dead until everyone starts to leave, then they poof away. Pretty soon the area becomes contested again.

I started with a Ranger. They’ve always been my favorite class, but I feel sort of stale playing lately. I love using the GS, but I don’t feel like it does much damage at all. I also use shortbow, but I get really bored. I switch up my pets a lot to try new skills, but I’m just not feeling it. I switched to Mesmer and am loving that. Mesmer seems to be all about managing your clones, condition damage, and combos. I’ll get back on my Ranger eventually. Probably just need to research some different builds.

I don’t like it. Even the icon looks like the general marsh drake. I was not expecting this green salamander drake. But hey, it’s better than the river drake! That thing is incredibly dumb looking.

I really like the Unicorn bow Not sure if I’ll ever get it, but I like it.
Right now I have Seraph style bow and I really love this one. I keep transmuting my new SB to this one.

You have bow, pet has aggro, you drop traps pet goes stealth, mobs run over traps while pet keeps dealing damage while no longer getting hit. It makes a higher damage pet more survivable while maintaining pet damage.

Of course if your using a SB and want the backside maybe you don’t like this.

Jaguar stealth to haste also seems to unload better than just haste no stealth but that could be rnd chance.

I’d say boar pets are more useless than the Jaguar. This plan here seems like a good use of it. I use SB though, but maybe I’ll try this out at some point.

For underwater, I’d say go get the armored fish for one of them. They have incredible defense. Jellies have a ton of life and can do quite a bit of damage, but I prefer the Shark. It just looks cooler. It also does some pretty decent damage.

It depends on what you’re doing. I’d recommend almost anything but a boar type. Their special skill is Forage, which makes it go look for an environment weapon. Have found 0 use for that.
Fern hound’s special skill is regeneration. It will howl to give regeneration to all allies.
I mainly use an arctodus because it can take a lot of damage and causes bleeding. My backup is a lynx, but I’ve been thinking of replacing them with something a little tougher.
I’ve heard Red Moas are good, they give -33% to damage taken.
I could probably come up with a bunch more, but I’ll stop here.

No, not in the least. You obviously spent too much time playing WoW.

Rangers are not the same as hunters (really a hunter can be any class, a ranger is something more specific). More importantly, they are not a “ranged class”, they are a “nature-themed class”. Designing classes around conceptual theme is vastly superior to designing them around gameplay mechanics, which is one of the many reasons GW2 has a much better class design paradigm than WoW does. WoW’s hunter should have been more like GW2’s ranger, not the other way around.

In any case, for an example of a greatsword-using Ranger, I point you in the direction of the most well-known Ranger – Aragorn.

you know what i’m sick of everyone in this game seems to think everyone came to this game from wow i have never played wow in my life so stop assuming that everyone plays wow.

I think WoW is the only place I’ve seen a ranger with a gun. It’s an easy mistake to make. I assume almost everyone has played at least a day of WoW even if they try to say they haven’t.

I’m on Ehmry Bay and I don’t know what brought us together to get this high of a score. For the last few weeks the server has been floundering in WvW. I know plenty of guilds transferred out because they couldn’t handle waiting it out or trying to put together some form of communication.
I logged on yesterday morning and Eternal Battlegrounds was incredi-boring. We had almost captured everything. I went into the Borlis Borderland and there were skirmishes all over. It was fun, they were pushing forward and we’d push back. Then I went back to Eternal Battlegrounds later and everyone was basically stuck to their spawn.
I think we, as a server, have been pushing for communication and we have set up guild alliances that allow people to plan out the tactics. I think we’re also just getting smarter. I doubt we’ll do this good next week, but it all about communication and experience.
Maybe some of the losing servers don’t communicate well with other players or maybe they just haven’t played much WvW.
