I also anticipate TC coming out strong.

I anticipate next weeks thread having no trolling whatsoever, FA and TC holding hands and singing, and DB cheering us on while they let us take over their whole borderland.

That might be more easily done if FA works to take the other half.

Also, my guys aren’t much into holding hands and singing songs. We’re far more primitive than that.

More primitive? Whatever do you mean?

WATCH

I predict a TC win this coming week.

It would just be nice to see our guilds show up this week
We always take a hit in WvW when new content is added. First are foremost the majority of our people are RP’s.

Eh, I wouldn’t say the majority. All servers see an impact from new content anyway.

We’re missing a few of our big commanders and guilds the past two weeks, so we’re struggling with that. Not a big deal.

I definitely hope we see them back soon, but if we don’t…we’ll just carry on and keep learning that…oh yeah…there are more than four commanders on our server. :-P

I posted a troll post on the T1 matchup, throwing a little trash talk in there to spice up the matchup, to make the zerg v zerging more personal, and funner (funner is a word). Some people took it wayyyyyy too serious. Like I said, I’m use to T2 thread where they trash talk back and it’s all fun and games. But T1 takes everything a bit more seriously. Couple guilds in BG don’t think I should be commanding because of my behavior on the forums. It seems to give BG a bad name I suppose. Therefore, to keep the drama to a minimum, I’m stepping down to please everyone.

The last thing T1 needs is more trolling. Things are personal and serious enough without it being pushed overboard. Even if the intent was meant to be light-hearted.

Thinking of trolls, look who just arrived!

It’s a forum. People troll. If you take it seriously or personally, you’re juvenile.

I’ve been playing GW2 since the day after launch. I’m not bored yet. No MMO has kept my attention this long. I played WoW for a couple years, but only in 3-4 month spurts until I got bored.

GW2 has no problem at all with longevity, as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve never had a point where I just sat back and said “I don’t know what to do…I’m bored.”

They’re annoying to be sure. I can almost deal with the damage to troops. It’s the damage to siege that is unconscionable.

+1. Although, nerfing the damage to personnel would be great too. As it stands, the encouragement to turtle and not fight is way too high and has been making the bulk of my forays into WvW not fun and even downright boring.

Though that run with you guys last night was FAR from boring. :-D I’m gonna be keeping an eye on your mumble channel from now on so I can join you in your stealth (non-cmdr) zergs. :P

That is…assuming you guys don’t mind.

Definitely truth there, last night was awesome – credit that just as much to the FA warriors on FABL yesterday. Fantastic fights.

I would gladly exchange a the ability swap weapons in combat for a nerf on mist-form. As it is, your most effective role as an ele is to run to the back of the keep, wait about 20s to leave combat, then equip a staff. If I could switch to staff quicker, you wouldn’t see these kamikaze eles that drop down, do about 10 damage, and retreat inside. I know some people do it, but it is simply not effective to do anyway.

Are you really complaining about 1-2 bags/day, anyway? If you remove the portal ability of mistform, then no ele downed ability has any use at all, anywhere.

Eles have 4 sets of weapon utilities for each weaponset. There is a very good reason why they cannot swap weapons easily.

Yeah, they effectively carry 4 weapons around while everyone else gets 2. :-P

To me guardians are the class all others should aspire to. They have a lot of viable build options and specialist builds can be very powerful but generally come with an inherent weakness. They really are well rounded. Too many of the other classes are stuck with a small amount of effective builds.

Yeah, this is a great thing about the class. There are SO many ways you can build a successful guardian.

Guardians seem straight forward at first glance, but they’re probably the most complicated….and downright STRANGE class in the game. I mean…in what other place does the class with the most survivability also have the smallest health pool?

It’s probably why I have found almost all other classes mostly boring…

Guardians are good against players with below-average skill level. When you start to duel more skilled people you will notice that guardians almost lose just as much as warriors.

This dude knows what’s up.

However…a guardian added to a skirmish can make a world of difference for his team. They were never meant to run solo….

Arrowcarts [merged]

Posted by: Hickeroar.9734

Hickeroar.9734

The arrow cart damage is fine. The only remaining problem with them is that they melt other siege too quickly. So instead of nerfing carts, buff the other siege to be a bit tougher. Give siege a passive resistance to arrow cart fire. Give the person manning a flame ram a 50% damage reduction from siege. Arrow carts are meant to be anti-personnel anyways, not anti siege.

I think more and more people are slowly coming around to this school of thinking. They hurt….bad. But they have turned out not to be as bad as the initial stuff…mainly because people have learned to play a little different.

The problem is just….dat siege…

Not like my thief can jump into a 30 man zerg first and always survive by daggerstorming with malice signet on.

your thief however can spam Cluster bombs poison and stealth to run away from the zerg .

Running away is NOT a positive…I don’t see why so many people think being only able to run from a zerg somehow translates to a good thing, while Guardians can tank through zergs with ease.

One is fighting and helping out their team. The other is trying not to die.

Guardians can “tank” a zerg for 4-5 seconds by popping back to back their and elite that make them invulnerable, +f3 2 times. After that they manage to die 1s slower than any other class with an equivalent build because when zerged only invulnerabilities save you.

My guard can last 1 minute plus alone ina zerg with a block/shut bunker build but I also know how to maximize evade

My necromancer can kill 20 players + your guild in under 5 seconds.

I wish I could see TC put up a fight when they know they won’t be 1st place.

Bring it next week? Comes monday, try to finish 2nd place, good?

Shoulda been on last night! We brought the fight! :-P

Honestly though, once we settle out of first place, that’s where the magic really happens on TC. The fun starts, the good attitudes show up, the real fighting happens. First place lends itself to snarkiness (in game and forums) and boredom. Then the fairweathers flee when we have a changeup (like ths DB entry)….and the cycle repeats.

I don’t personally want, or care, about 1st place. I just want fun. If we lose the matchup and we have fun…so be it. Of course winning is fun too, in its own right, but I don’t think you have to be in 1st place to have fun. The first couple weeks of the KN/FA/TC matchup was perfect, imho. Each server kinda had its own time of day that they would dominate, so no one got disheartened.

I don’t fear a vengeance warrior in the least. All you have to do is kite him for 15s and he’s dead. Plus if you haven’t finished him by the time vengeance is up…you deserve a little more fight anyway.

The only time mist form is OP is when they’re down outside a tower and can mist-form through the portal… That’s not exactly fair. They’re the only class who can do that. By that time you’ve earned the win, if you don’t die trying to finish them.

mesmers are the only class that can portal, by your reasoning that should be nerfed or removed from the game completely. ( I don’t think so! )

You’re comparing apple to oranges.

Mesmers offer a utility to your team.

Elementalists have a self-serving escape mechanism that robs you of a kill that I feel like you deserve. You already have them downed by that point….

Try portalling in a friendly zerg while you’re dead.

no it’s the same, apples to apples a skill is a skill. just because you think the kill is “deserved” does not make it so, for obvious reasons. Vapor form can be countered, not by everyone but it can be, in addition we have to be close to a portal for it to have any advantage aside from a spike delay then rally, with that said Vapor form is obviously balanced.

You can call it balanced when other classes, while downed, can escape through a portal and rez themselves without any outside intervention.

It’s still apples to oranges. Calling it apples to apples doesn’t make it so.

FABL tonight was awesome. When we flipped your garri/hills/bay, we made the decision not to siege it up (to avoid the whole turtling thing and maybe actually get some fights). The FA folks who ended up flip/flip/flipping Bay and Garrison must have had the same idea, because they didn’t siege anything up either. Great open field fights, and the first really good night in WvW I’ve had all week.

Every time you FA folks say you’re all about the fight and not the PPT… I’ll be one of your believers, you proved it tonight. Thanks for the fun night, and for not sieging/turtling/hiding in towers/keeps. You guys rock.

Guardians have this strange problem (I main on a guardian, btw).

We either are built for great survivability and have middling damage…or we trait for damage and then other than a few boons we collapse under fire. Let me remind you that guardians share the smallest health pool in the game with thieves…

I can survive a LONG time in a 1v1 with my current build, but my damage is iffy. I have around 1900 toughness and around 2200 vitality, which makes me tanky, and gives me 24k health. The food buffs I use are +prec/toughness and maintenance oil for more prec. Without that food, I deal hardly any notable damage. With the food, I’m still not all that good for damage.

All my trinkets are the “all stats on one” stuff, which does help with damage a bit…but my power/prec still run around 1500, which isn’t all that fantastic.

It’s a commander build, really. (I use the new sentinel P/T/+V armor)

The thing is, it’s still not OP. Yes, it’s hella hard to kill me, but I don’t stand a great chance of killing you. I really work best in a group, where I can survive, and hand out active and passive boons to those around me. I believe this is exactly the purpose of the Guardian class, especially if you look at the info page: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/guardian/

If I may ask, what was the purpose of continuing to allow people to fight in the JP?

I gave up on completing the puzzle a LOOONG time ago because I got tired of dealing with the fighting over it. All the times I’ve completed it, I’ve just been ported up.

Fighting over it is the only reason it’s worth having around

I keep seeing people complain about zergs…but no one has a good reason why they’re bad.

I love running in small groups and I love running in zergs. They’re both valid, and very fun, ways to play the game.

If zergs were ever affected to the point of being non-viable, people would leave the WvW game in droves. Why? Because zergs are fun and important to the process.

Lag.

Is that really the only objection? They already said they’re working on addressing this.

Traps+Get More Out of WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Hickeroar.9734

Hickeroar.9734

I like traps. It gives small groups a new tool to starve out supply hungry zergs. Before you could only start upgrade before the zerg reached the camp. Now you can put traps on bottlenecks and rip off the the residual supplies. Zergs have now to find and circumvent the traps. It will slow down the Blitzkrieg meta even more.

But the zerg will most likely have more traps than your small group so its not like this will adversely effect a zerg, especially since a small group will have less supply so have more to lose if they hit a trap as opposed to a zerg running into a trap and losing 1/10th of their supply…

Zergs are much slower in acquiring supplies. Especially since RI works correctly. Smaller groups instead of one zerg can collect much more supplies in the same time. So they have much more traps they can build. Zergs will therefore much more suffer.

Working as intended.

Maybe? What if the trap only affects five people? What if you’re running havok with five people? What if you hit a trap and all 50 of your supply is just gone?

What if a zerg with 400 supply hits this and loses 50?

Which is more affected?

Why would a small coordinated group knowing that traps exist allow themselves to all be hit by it?

I see supply traps being used in the major zerg pathways which zergs tend to run around in but small groups tend to skirt. Wasting a trap on 1-2 people seems like a waste of a trap to me. If the trigger point is 5 in a trap they could easily just make it 6.

You cant see a trap until it springs. It wouldn’t be a matter of “Allowing” anything… And you never know how many people are going to be hit by a trap until it’s sprung.

Traps are not meant to be “offensive” in nature.

I’m very glad to see that TC is doing decent after waking up to having double digits this morning.
