fog dropoffs are actually a widely used technique to increase fps.

I’d like more special events in wvw. even something like planetside, where events come out “capture and hold stonemist” “capture a majority of X borderland” and whichever team completes it by the end of the timer gets some bonus PPT or even just rewards (on the level of queens jubilee perhaps. bronze for 3rd, silver for 2nd, gold for 1st)

You can get all of the pets in the wild (excluding Hall of Monument pets, but those are basically reskins of pets you CAN get)

so get whichever one you would like, and if not, your starter choices are usually on the 1-15 map you start on, so it won’t take long to get another one

I played skyhammer a few days ago and spent 90% of the game using my LB #4 on enemies on the skyhammer.

unless it’s an extremely recent patch, then there was an outside factor preventing it.

pve sure, but you’ll get owned in pvp if you try to run bowbear, since your bear won’t be tanking.

I don’t think it’s cheap when it’s on that level of luck. using the current luck, a person can “earn” a sunless weapon having only done it once, whilst someone else “doesn’t earn” it even though they may have done it hundreds of times.

a rabid ascended weapon and a sunless rune seems a little* cheap for a sunless weapon (excuse me for not being knowledgable, but isn’t the sunless rune one of those trash runes?)

maybe all three of the viridian weapons (the green ones) and something else of decently high value (the 50sp scroll maybe?)

that would give it a value around/above 200g, which is pretty good for a “special” exotic

downleveling is most of what they advertised, i believe. I don’t remember hearing anything about upleveling until after i got the game, personally

there’s only so much they can do. it’s better than no upleveling at all. even a level 80 in green gear will get slaughtered by a level 80 in exotics (unless the latter was just really sucky).

in zergs, full glass could work since you’d be with the glassy eles and necros anyways in that case (though personally I prefer going in with the heavies and lots of survivability. that extra waterfield has saved our team a couple times)

however, in small groups/roaming, full glass is basically never a good idea.

p.s. rapid fire will track and hit enemies even if they are stealthed

I don’t think tp flipping is bad, though if the amount of gold they have is as much as i hear it is, maybe rework the tp so it’s still profitable, but not to the point that it is currently.

that’s a really good idea, actually. And it’s already built into the game (they slowly introduced the megaserver to different maps) so it shouldn’t take too much work.

while i agree the certain classes have an easier time with 1vX (personally I think engi’s have the easiest time) every class can 1vX, especially if you’re built for it.

and anytime a thief gets near me in a group they usually die. i guess rangers are op now too.

firstly, it’s not actually that hard anyways. you have an entire month to do it as well. it took me a single day to get through the entire gauntlet and get the title and the mini, on a fairly inefficient build. (granted, I play a bit more than some people might be able to, but that’s still just a weekend for a casual gamer.)

secondly, it’s a reward to show you’ve done something special, not paid a bunch of money (that’s what legendaries are for ;P) granted, as I pointed out above, it’s not that special, but as people are still complaining about it, it has some semblance of a reward for skill.

thirdly, you haven’t said anything to give a reason to put it in the gemstore, other than targeting her is broken (which in fact, isn’t broken, you’re just having a hard time from the sounds of it ( many people have also posted ways to make it much much easier)

fourthly, dismissing the worth of posts that disagree with your opinion practically invalidates it.

I have no definite answer, but I would assume they could, as they can see tonics and other aesthetic things.

though don’t take for granted that they can hear you, even if it is possible. a large group of mmo players (me included) don’t play with sound on (or in my case, I have it low enough that i can just barely hear it, in case i need to focus on shouts or something

you probably already know this, but you can get dungeon tokens from the pvp reward tracks now, just to let you know.

also, not to say it’s wrong to play how you want (I don’t like dungeons either) but I think it’s only something around 8 dungeon runs? in the long terms of crafting a legendary, it’s not really that much time :P

not to mention legendaries are (well, at least, supposed to be) indicative of mastering every aspect of the game

It might be easy to abuse for lots of rewards if you’re not careful (entire teams just giving up at the start for instant rewards, for example.)

That’s a pretty good idea, though it is a bit hard to get out of combat on some maps (e.g. on the snowy map, if i’m helping out on a fight at mid then head back at home, sometimes i’ll still be in combat at home until the enemies at mid go down)

I think some of the arguments against (and occasionally for) legendaries are thinking about it the wrong way.

-No, people aren’t going to care because you have one

-No, it’s not that much of a status symbol

-If you’re "grinding for a legendary (aside from the precursor which i’ll note next) then you probably shouldn’t get one. I’ve almost finished mine and none of it has been a grind, and most of my funds have came from WvW of all places.

-It’s widely accepted that precursors being grindy is a thing, but it’s also widely accepted that it is a problem as well.

basically, most people make a legendary just because they like it. not because it’s a statement of any kind. just like you may like the CoF armor, we like our legendary of choice. am I getting kudzu? yes, because it’s my favorite longbow skin. will I get sunrise or twilight for my secondary weapon? no, because the Jade Avenger is my favorite greatsword skin, and I’m getting that next.

personally I think it’d be cool to give it a second move once stealthed (like a thief #1) not sure what i’d like to be there, but it would give more strategy to the fight, imo

EoTM if you want to farm, sPvP reward tracks if you don’t enjoy farming like me :P

also, you probably already have, but in the process of map completion you get 200+ skill points, so if you haven’t done that, there’s no worry

I’m assuming you’re talking about NA servers.

Jade Quarry, Tarnished Coast, and Blackgate are T1 servers and probably have the most players. downside is it can get really laggy sometimes

Tarnished Coast is also the unofficial roleplay server

or if you prefer to keep quiet, Eredon Terrace, Anvil Rock, and Ehmry Bay are currently T8 servers. of couse with the megaserver you’ll still see quite a few people, but to a bit lesser extent (especially so in WvW,which megaserver doesn’t effect)

Personally I like the T4 servers the most (Isle of Janthir, Henge of Denravi, and Crystal Desert) though it’s worth pointing out that HoD was somewhat of the bandwagon server of season 2 of WvW, and afterwards it’s starting to crash down a bit, so you may want to stay away from there for the time being. it’s your choice though.

at ~50s per sp (which imo, they’re more around <10s, but that’s because i’m not a tp-centric player), 1000 skill points would only be worth 500g, just saying.

I’m all for an improved way to obtain a legendary (without making them easy to get), but I don’t think this is the way to do it. to balance it, it would have to be such a large amount of skill points that it would still be a grind, just a different kind.

personally, I think the main problem is the lack of ways to obtain a precursor (I think it’d be cool to incorporate it into the achievement system, in particular, the “weapon mastery” achievements), and that farming items (T6 mostly) ISN’T viable (at least not nearly as much as farming gold to buy it)

if you haven’t turned off your computer you may be able to Control + V it into paint.

the same logic would also apply to simply working and buying the gems with the money you earned. even at minimum wage it would be a whole lot higher than what you can farm in game.

Except I’m not a hero. I’ve never done the personal story. At best I’m a member of a ragtag militia fighting other ragtag militias, and I occasionally practice my fighting skills in the mists.

I don’t play this game for the immersion, because to me personally, the story is a bit silly. And that-being, you have to realize this is an mmo you are sharing with thousands of other people, so not everyone is going to play the way you want, and I think anet would prefer to leave the options open and annoy a few people than to restrict the game in a way that could possibly hurt the population fairly badly.

also, my names are all variants of the name Feyris from steins;gate (e.g. my ranger is Feyris Nyo, whilst my guardian is Feyris Hyaa (also note since it’s technically not the correct spelling, it doesn’t infringe on using a character name from a copyrighted product, like Faris would be doing)) Technically speaking, that doesn’t fit in the lore of the game (even though it isn’t an eyesore imo). Yet it’s the name I’ve gone by for the past year or two now in real life and online.

Might I add that new players and some veterans alike, do not know anything about the lore and therefore couldn’t abide by the “correct” naming conventions?

I enjoy doing it occasionally because of the fun of opening something special, and getting unique rewards that I see nowhere else (also on my first key run i got a makeover kit and a black lion ticket, which was pretty awesome)

It’s also enjoyable to me. when I’m tired of actually investing myself into wvw, or pvp, and i’ve done all the world bosses i feel like doing, it’s something nice to just relax and do. simple and easy.

I’m always a fan of more choices, even if I wouldn’t personally use them.

I was able to salvage CoE weapons from the weapon boxes, for decent profit (3-7g per track + dark matter)

unless i’m mistaken, perhaps you should do that for your boxes?

I heard a lot of times this story about “i do wvw solo roaming, so i’m a good pvp player”, but as someone who do both pvp and solo roaming with all my 4 classes, i have to say:
1) Tpvp and Solo Roaming have a very different meta. You’ll never meet a decent player in arena using condi PU or condi PD thief, let alone a warrior with a great sword.
2) Different meta means a different counter to the builds that people use.
3) The average level of skills of a wvw player is lower compared to a pvp player (not always, but most of the time)
4) This may sound stupid, but the most i do arenas, the most i understand one thing, the actual ability to fight and kill a guy (and not getting killed) is just a 30% of what a good player is, and the remaining 70% is map awareness through minimap , that lead to a smart rotation in the whole match to support your team to the fullest, this is actually the big difference between good and bad players.

first, i’d like to point out I never said I was good. I consider myself very casual (especially in pvp, which i only do when wvw is boring), just that no one specifically complained about me being bad, since i have semi-decent experience in how the game works, and not playing hotjoin before, proves that (at least some) people can join spvp without ruining the game like this topic seems to make it out to be, and honestly if this restriction were in place i would have not done pvp at all

1) agreed, but i don’t run the meta in either and no one seemed that worried about it. also,
1a) it takes a quick google search to find the metas for a specific gamemode and know the basics of playing it
1b) metas in unorganized groups and organized groups are quite different as well.

2) the above could apply to that as well.

3) I definitely disagree. wvwer’s are better at wvw, and pvpers are better at pvp, for the most part.

4) in wvw, map awareness is important as well, and on a much larger scale ;P. it takes 5 minutes of reading to get a general idea of what to look for in pvp matches (granted, it takes much longer to be an expert at it, but as i said, solo queue isn’t the competitive gametype, just as pugging dungeons isn’t competitive, nor is following a pug commander in wvw)

Perhaps with team queue, but solo queue hardly feels like a competitive experience and therefore shouldn’t be limited. as someone who has spent a lot of time roaming in wvw I hopped into solo queue when the reward tracks came out, never playing pvp before, and no one complained about me lacking skill or such. (except once or twice, when I literally told everyone that i was brand new to spvp, but ironically i recall that we ended up winning most of the time)

Honestly, if anet wants to keep the “noobs” away from solo queue, make it more obvious that hotjoin is the place for starters. I didn’t even know it existed until one of my guilds decided to play around in one, let alone it being the place i was “supposed” to go to keep away from the entitled players ;P

if you’re speaking in terms of winning pvp (capping points and such.) i’d say

hardest – bunker guardian
easiest – dps thieves

if you’re speaking in terms of 1v1 fights, which is the easiest to kill?

hardest – either mesmers or engineers
easiest – warriors or thieves

I’m not exactly a veteran, but this is how i’d recommend it, being someone who’s almost done with their legendary (about 300g from my precursor which is the last piece)

precursor first, if you can handle it
world completion
mystic clovers
T6/Ectos or your Gift of Incinerator
Gift or T6/Ectos

by that point you should be in excess of all the karma/badges/skillpoints/etc. that you need

I’ve heard if you mail a large amount of gold it might think you’re a gold-bot, and ban you, but i’m not sure if that’s actually true

My first character I played through the first 30-40 levels via pve, then the last 40-50 via wvw, so imo it’s extremely viable (and this was before the eotm update, and eotm is a much better option than wvw for underlevels, i’m leveling an alt there currently and i’ve gone 10-60 via it)

however, it would mostly depend on your server I would suppose. when I started I was playing on a tier 9 European server, which felt a lot different than the tier 4 NA server I’m on now

as for gaining levels in pvp, you might have done achievements, finished your daily/monthly, or used a tome of knowledge

edit: or possibly exploration bonuses. not sure if pvp maps give xp for the PoI’s in them…
