Pretty sure the fight is bugged. I’m looking at my char trying to kill Aerin. Fight’s been going on for 20 minutes at least. His shield is at half strength and now he just sits there, invulnerable. The shield isn’t dropping and he has stopped attacking.

are you using the sun crystals? you just need one to take out the shield.

I don’t know much about mesmers outside of them owning me 1v1 and their utilities, so i’m not going to comment on their large group dps abilities.

however, I will point out that any good zerg will have at least 2 mesmers in their group. veils and ports are an invaluable asset to an organized group that no other class can provide.

and the reason for fixing it was because it’s a bug. sure, maybe it’s a bug that gives you an advantage, but it’s still a bug.

also, just because you aren’t the best in zergs doesn’t mean you can’t do zergs at all. with a little tinkering I made a ranger build that has more survivability than wars/guards and decent dps.

graphics are probably one of the main reasons I tried this mmo compared to others. It’s honestly the best mmo graphically that i’ve seen (subjective I know)

as for being a loner, that’s another great thing about this game is that compared to other mmos it’s extremely loner friendly. I usually don’t make many friends (unlike you, it is sort of anti-social/social anxiety stuff) but aside from dungeons it doesn’t really matter.

in particular, I suggest turning AoE loot on in the options, and also use windowed fullscreen to prevent lag if you’re constantly alt-tabbing like me (I like to wiki stuff and watch youtube videos while playing :P)

you can play the standard game (anything aside from speedrunning, pvp tournaments, and hardcore wvw guilds) perfectly fine without doing the meta, and whoever says otherwise is taking the game way too seriously.

I’ve been playing as a longbow/greatsword ranger ever since i started and only once has someone asked me to change it.

I just wish you could do the achievements the first time through, and skip instances to just try for the achievements. I actually earnt most of the achievements the first time, but I didn’t “unlock” the achievements until after I beat it.

Regardless of if I’m losing or winning, I don’t really care. I play because it’s fun, and if I win, that’s pretty neat too.

I have had a few of those, but I am sure it’s because the team composition changed. Such as when the top player on the winning team left hotjoin to enter a match, and a really strong player came onto the weak team at the same time.

I’m unsure why it happened, but this was in solo queue (I’ve never played hotjoin before), and as far as I can tell, new players can’t join solo queue matches, just leave (which no one did iirc)

Personally, I really enjoyed caithe and the dude from the green knight story of the sylvari personal story, partially because of the fact that they are gay. and as I said, I’m bisexual AND dislike them.

“you’re a homophobe” is a dumb counter-argument. as far as I’ve seen, no one has said “I dislike them because they’re gay” whilst many have said that they’re ok with them being gay.

you can call them insensitive people who don’t understand that kind of romance, and I would be somewhat ok with that. because a majority of us dislike them because of the cheesy romance aspect.

He’s still a sponge for those of us who aren’t lolzerk hugedps classes. My necro has a choice of close range axe or melee daggers. This guy zips around platforms, dropping these massive bombs which can’t be dodged on the smaller ones and my axe can’t always be in range of him from the middle.

Can we fix the zerker meta yet?

as someone who runs soldier gear, he’s not very spongy at all. if anything, buy a cheap staff if you “really” can’t deal with killing him. and as far as I can tell, every attack can be dodged if you get the timing right

I’m an extreme advocate of the wolf. best pet for roaming imho.

the second slot I swap between krytan drakehound (in wvw) or artic wolf (with my chill-based pvp bunker build)

I would use signet of the hunt for the speed boost. it’s nice for getting around. QZ if you don’t feel like using it (or need extra condi cleanse)

I enjoy both runes of vampirism (extremely cheap) and runes of the ranger (bit more expensive but seems to have a bit more dps at the cost of some utility). I’ve never used them but runes of melandru are nice if you need more tankiness

Excuse me for derailing the topic a bit, but why do you need geodes? I honestly have no use for these things other than the keys, so i can get champ bags and sell them for a profit (this isn’t trying to make a point. i’m genuinely curious in case I’m missing out on something)

take maul. it has a 6 second cd. now, let me cast it 10 times in a row, then have a 60 second cd. that would make maul extremely op. that’s the difference between initiative and standard cooldowns. you have to take a different mindset for each one. what can work with cooldowns will work drastically different with initiative.

I prefer lowering the price to the middle of buy orders and sell orders (1.5s if an item has a sell order of 2s and a buy order of 1s)

line of sight is basically the area that the mob can “see” you. draw an imaginary line from you directly to the mob. if there’s something in the way, you’re out of it’s line of sight

when the shield goes up you look to your right and the master dude will throw speed crystals at you. grab those and use them while facing at him. as soon as you touch him whilst in the light mode, his shield will break and you can damage him

as a bisexual, I dislike them. because they annoy me. sexual preference has nothing to do with a lot of these people being annoyed, it’s moreso that it feels like a sort of cheesy romance novel being shoved into your face in what should probably feel like a gritty war-story

No doubt there is a way around it, it’s the time, money and effort that it would take placed against the other projects they are working on. They would either have to pull people away from other projects or put this one project on a to do list. If on a to do list, then it becomes a matter of how important it is.

and that part is debatable, but in my opinion it would be worth it

What I mean to say is, that there are already identical skins on each armor class, such as the gem store animal hats. so what they could do is rework the wardrobe system so when you skin over your armor with say, a light piece, it would just use a medium replica of that, that has a boolean that would make it only usable if all the other armor pieces are also light based skins.

as I said, it would take work, but it isn’t something that’s impossible to do, or would take a year and reworking the entire equipment system from scratch

now, I’m not a genius when it comes to coding, but it seems like it’d take 3 variables for each armor class (that are probably already in the code) and every time you try to skin over a piece of armor, it calls that variable up and if it matches all the other pieces, it allows it. The hardest part would probably be making replicas of every skin for each armor class, and I don’t have the code so I don’t know what it’s like, but it could be as simple as copy-pasting.

I’m only still leveling but I’ve tried most of the weapon combos and I really like longbow + greatsword. Can I get away with just using Greatsword on a dungeon run to avoid being accused of being a Bearbow?

that’s what I do. I swap out lightning reflexes for frost if I’m feeling especially generous, and I replace read the wind with spotter (not using the lb anyways)

just make sure you go in with a gs on your back and not your longbow ;P

I agree with OP. I want to wear light armor on my ranger.

we can already wear townclothes into battle (and certain tonics) so “they will wear light armor so they don’t look like a guardian” doesn’t apply.

clipping, granted, is an issues. but it’s already an issue. if anything, add a disclaimer whenever you try to skin light and medium that “this could cause serious clipping issues” or just restrict it so if you have 1 piece of X weight, you can only equip X weight and not Y or Z weights.

@astral as long as it’s just the skins, we already basically have it semi-integrated in the game in the form of cash shop items (glasses/hats) and being able to wear town clothes. it would take some work, but it could be done, and it’s widely requested so spending time to work on it wouldn’t draw complaints from me.

I have nothing against this idea. I rarely put in buy orders so it wouldn’t effect me much, and even when it does I have such a surplus of karma it wouldn’t be a big deal.

but as a bunch of people seem to not have too much karma than they know what to do with, what about adding a new currency? granted, I admit I’m probably pretty bad at economics so I’m not saying this idea is fool proof, just something to get the stones rolling.

the currency could work in multiple ways

-The first idea I had would be that you earn the currency via sell now/buy now. say, 1-5 tokens per item sold/bought. then when you put a buy order/sell order and that order is filled, it costs 1 token. It would lower the profit that tp flipping is so notable for, without destroying it completely. the problem I see is that it wouldn’t “force” them to “play the game” like so many people seem to want (personally I don’t mind if it’s all they do.) which brings me to my second idea

-Tokens earned by just playing the game. fairly self explanatory. it’d have to be semi-decent drop rates, possibly an 80% chance to get 1 for every bag opened or item salvaged, or 1-5 per enemy killed

-My last idea is that you can convert any currency (excluding gold) into it. the main idea behind this is semi-selfish, and that is that it would make WvW more profitable in comparison to other gamemodes, due to the abundance of badges and lack of anything to spend them on. Of course, it would have to be different for every currency, but we could use the same Idea that you used in the OP, I’d think.

Of course this might put a focus on tp flipping that wasn’t intended, and due to that I think we should be able to use this currency for other things as well. special skins, materials, or even a static way of converting every currency into gold (vendor X currency into the new currency, then the new currency into gold)

I originally played on Fissure of Woe, but as I live in the US and have bad internet, I took advantage of season 2 free transfers and transfered to Crystal Desert, which is a mid-tier silver server, and I’ve enjoyed wvw much more.

with that in mind, I would recommend one of the mid-tier servers. I have friends in Piken Square and it sounds nice there. For lack of much knowledge about EU servers, Aurora Glade I would recommend as well. Basically any of those servers in the middle there. If it’s the same in EU as it is in NA, you should have little to no queues (we have it right at reset on important matchups, but past that we have no queues), and you don’t have to worry quite as much about unbalanced matchups that seem extremely common in lower tiers.

-All your minecraft builds are based off of gw2 locations (for those that play it)

I wish it’d get even harder (at least for optional content. maybe a NG+ mode for the story instance so you can replay it at a higher difficulty for more rewards?) it was a bit tougher – especially that veteran golem thing, but probably because I didn’t understand what it was doing so I just dpsed it down – but I didn’t really have any trouble for the most part.

as a person who generally likes lore and romance, I agree. The entire story feels a little cheesy to me (not to say that’s a bad thing. to each their own. I don’t play mmos for the story just as someone else doesn’t play mmos for the pvp)

honestly I wish you could just skip most of the dialogue. I was just watching a movie through it, and pausing it whenever the action started

very neat! now that you mention it, I do remember seeing him multiple times (I was always up there near him, playing around trying to get as high as possible) I didn’t pay attention to the name though, I guess.

see, I don’t really care for the story, but things like this are what I really enjoy seeing.

here’s an idea anet, for anyone complaining about it, just revert it back for those accounts where if you miss it, you don’t have an option to buy it. now we can all be happy, except for people who are greedy jerks that don’t want anyone else to access the content either because “it’s not fair” that the new system gives EVERYONE a chance to play the content.

while i agree with some aspects, the way you portray jumping puzzles is a bit rude, just saying.

personally I enjoy the jumping puzzles and such, but i wish it were optional, just as I wish the story stuff (people talking) were optional for people like me that have no investment into the story.

I agree. the helm/mask is the first head-armor I was considering using, and those gloves are nice too. I really dislike the pants though.

I think it probably has something to do with it clipping (the poofy pants especially) that made them make it an outfit. it’s not really an excuse though..

currently. there’s nothing preventing them from adding more later. if anything I’d say it’s pretty likely
