So, any response on the original question yet? I wa so annoyed at spending time doing the F&F stuff only to find that it ended in a dungeon I was never going to do, resulting in me never seeing the end content, that it’s actually led me to looking around at new games, that’s unusual because the last MMO I played lasted me 3 years and I wa hoping to get similar longevity out of GW2. The question needs to be answered, if it doesn’t end in a 5 man dungeon I will simply ignore it and play on, but I need to know.
If we get no reply I will play the content in the hope it doesn’t, but if I suddenly find after months of playing that it does, with no warning or any indication, then it’s going to ge a deal breaker for sure, so I really suggest getting the bad news over with now. And don’t try the “oh it will ruin the story” routine, or “we don’t really know” rubbish, tell us yes or no, that’s all that’s been asked.
Oh yes if anyone cares to reply about MMO grouping and solo players need to get a life/find a solo game/ learn to love dungeons cause they are so rad and cool etc etc, don’t bother, had enough of that, not listening, just want an answer.
It will most likely end in a 5 man dungeon in my opinion. The only people who can give a definite answer is ArenaNet staff and they haven’t posted in here yet so just wait and see.

I think it is her and she is undercover, the guards are probably not lionguard because the Consortium has guards as well.
To be honest the dungeon doesnt even need 5 people to complete, I did it with 3 because I didnt feel like looking for 2 more people.
I actually enjoy PvE a huge lot with my Thief, I don’t know about that feeling of yours… what’s your build that makes you feel the Thief is so lucklaster?

They may not be after anything more than trying to profit from Southsun, but the questions I have are how far would they go to reach their goals? Are they going to be a new enemy faction? Is the Nemesis among them? What are they planning? Why ARE they so focused on Southsun? I don’t know, they could end up being perfectly legit but they are way too suspicious to ignore.

Soo they try to build on southsun and cause the Karka attacks, then conveniently the dredge and flame legion attack the north, sending refugees all over the place and in steps the nice consortium building a haven for then on SOUTHSUN out of the goodness of their hearts. I’m not buying it, i’m sure there’s a thread somewhere in here that addressed this already because I highly doubt i’m the only one who noticed this. But if not there are my thoughts on what’s going on. I think they’re trying to make a profit from southsun by any means necessary. They’re probably trying to populate and spruce up the island to attract more tourists and other people to come live there. I read somewhere that they were set up by the Asura, could the inquest have something to do with them as well?

I don’t think he can/will give a definite answer. Based on his reply it seems they’re not sure how they could do it and don’t want to tell us that they will definitely add the feature. Imagine the uproar if he told us that they were working on it and didn’t deliver.

Well from my understanding the Gold —> gems is mainly a gold sink and is also a way to cut out the gold sellers from the game since there is a legal way to do it.
Also, thiefs will get the ability to steal enemy boons and apply them to themselves…so if a opponent has 20 stacks of might on them, the thief steals the 20 stacks which he starts using straight away, your opponent has 0 might and now faces a opponent with 20 stacks of might…double wammy…

Caledon forest, looking at the scenery and especially Morgans spiral makes me feel like a kid again every time i go there.
Lions arch at the diving board is also awesome and next up, Hidden garden JP, and Goemms Lab. I like hidden garden because when youre jumping up to get the wind thing the wind starts blowing and makes the grass wave, i thought that was really cool.
I play thief, i can stealth a lot so if i’m the last man standing it doesn’t mean i wasn’t doing terribly on the run.

Its not really about the counting part, its that it feels weird to play now. Its not as smooth as with the 3 second reveal.
Imo it is a PvE ability, has no place in PvP atm.

NPC’s dont dodge/stun break / teleport out of it.
Players with a couple of functional brain cells will avoid the dmg easily.Really? How about using utilities/elites/your steal to pistol whip? If you proc it with: Infiltrator’s Signet, Balisk Venom, Infiltrators strike, Devour Venom, Steal, you can still get some damage.
And then you get hit for 3k by retal.
Or get a stack of confusion on you before you have time to react.. im talking about you Diplomat Tarban…

I would say it is the most beautiful looking mmo but like many beautiful things it’s shallow.
Also this game is really a virtual gambling operation disguised as a game. Hopefully in the future governments will regulate the gaming industry and keep kids from playing games with a cash shop that uses RNG.

And, yes, I think something should be done about the cash shop thing. I’m not big into government oversight, but maybe a warning label for parents or something.
It really is a shame how much of this game seems more like a casino so NCSoft can grow rich and fat than a fantasy adventure game.

You can put them on an armor for free, then you have to use a transmutation stone if you want to put them on something else after.

I haven’t logged in for a LONG time..but I just had to ask…this game is technically “unfinished” is it not? They’re constantly evolving the game…I thought that was the entire point.
Constantly evolving and missing key features the game should have shipped with are two different things.
Guild halls and houses are not key features, they add to the game yes but they are not necessary to enjoy the game.
Instead of us killing the dragon in story mode, then doing explorable mode, why not have us fight to get into the lair or whatever in story, then in explorable have us take different paths to fight the big beast. I cant speak for everyone but I don’t think people really do story more than one time, I myself have only done it twice. The dragons deserve better encounters as well, the Zhaitan fight was all about fighting off his minions while he gets stuck on a tower and blasted to death. Make it interesting so its worth it! The only thing i liked about the Zhaitan story was that we were on airships, I like Airships.

Since I personally run a S/P & SB Venom Share spec, here’s what I’ve been having a lot of fun with.
For soloing, remove Shadow’s Refuge and replace with Signet of Shadows. Also remove Basilisk Venom and replace with Thieves Guild.
As possible, slowly replace with Knight’s jewelry pieces with the Ascended equivalent. The advantage of the Ascended is that is favors Precision as the main +stat and not Toughness.

please nerf the thief in wvw/spvp as much as you wish,
but please balance the pve one, right now, we are not equals (other classes are prefered more in dungeons than others)
eg. warrior was op already in pve, now with the banner buff, it’s almost a must, as guardians :/

By removing its attachment to Blinding Powder, the trigger will not act as an attack, thus it will not trigger the Revealed status.
The trigger has never acted as an attack.
The insta-revealed is caused due to the Stealth proccing mid-attack so that the attack you intend to land (Often it’s a CnD just to be ironic) gives you Revealed without you anticipating it (Since it’s pretty difficult to anticipate dropping to below 25% health, especially with the low base health of Thieves making it so that a lot of hits can do 50% > 25% in one go)
Lol for me it was a shadow refuge yesterday. First time I’ve ever noticed being killed by it, usually saves me in wvw because the only stealth skill i have is shadow refuge.
I need help with a s/p build with shortbow swap, currently im running venomshare and its a lot of fun but i want to experiment a bit with it so what are some builds, gear, and skill setups that I can use for this playstyle? There might be better weapon choices for this but these are the ones that I plan on using.
Currently, my tournament setup is 30-0-30-0-10 with S/D + SB. Taking all the venom enhancing traits in both Deadly Arts and Shadow Arts trees, with the exception of the might on venom (chose to go with mug there instead).
I use berserker pendant with Runes of Divinity. Flame sigils on SB and Sword and Bloodlust sigil on dagger.
The end result is a fairly well balanced thief with plenty of burst and good party support.
What about a wvw setup? Im not really into spvp at the moment although im considering playing it a bit more in the future

Stealth never needed a nerf. Culling definitely needed to be removed/fixed.
Theives should the 3s reverted because it screwed up a lot of play styles.
D/P is the only “smooth” feeling play style, second is S/D.
In my opinion S/d now feels clunky as well, I switched to S/P.
They can add a “… and shadowstep you away”.
This way you wont die for having revealed up, but for being throw out of cliffs or into packs of mobs and zergs. Or beeing to far to CnD anything…
They already have that, Its Called “Hard to Catch”, it teleports you if you get disabled in any way and it also gives swiftness.
This video proofs that thief’s can not do as much damage as they did before (and to demonstrate that you did pick guardian. One of the classes with the highest survivability.) yet while trying to demonstrate that you pretty much solo a whole zerg. You don’t get any kills (inside of the enemy zerg) but try what you are doing with any other class and THEY will get a kill. Notice how the other player (not a thief) dies.
Also see how little HP you lose when fighting the guardian (not saying that you would have to much HP it’s just because he can’t see you the whole time, so thats shows how powerful (and according to some to powerful) that is ) You and another thief get him to about 10% HP. Then you run into the zerg and they get you to about 50% HP.
Eventually you get downed, outside of the zerg.. By a thief!
Before thief’s could use the backstab to medium / light armor players that do not build on toughness and/or vitality to get them downed instantly. Those players will now (only) lose about 75% of there health when you do that.
Hp didn’t drop on the guardian because the guardian really didn’t attack back, he survived the zerg because he stealthed and they made a beeline for the door. The only reason he got downed was because he was ressing someone and wasn’t in stealth. Im pretty sure a Ele could escape that zerg too, maybe mesmer as well.
Well I haven’t read any of this. All I know is that for some odd reason from BW1 to present thieves are still the only profession I cant counter……hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There is a pro and a con when it comes to mobs dropping aggro.
Scenario #1 (drops aggro): Fighting a Level 80 Vet Mob and it’s almost going down. Stealth to backstab – invulnerable – mob dropped aggro – nooooooooooo!
Scenario #2 (no drops): I walked into a hornet’s nest – Stealth – they’re staring at me – revealed – dead – noooooooo!
Which scenario do you prefer?
- has only really happened to me on Lupicus, where he resets if im in stealth for even a fraction of a second. Makes me think that they put this nerf in because they didn’t really want to fix him..
I was more worried to the nerf about caltrops, TBH.
15s to 10s does nothing in WvW(unless the dude stands in the AoE for 15 seconds), but has a pretty profound effect in PvE.
I am neither surprised nor bothered by the nerf to Caltrops, and here’s why – it has always been exceptionally strong for a low level utility skill. So strong, in fact, that it was almost mandatory for open-world play (leveling, etc.) and the bleed stacking + crippling effect was so good that it masked the problems with other skills and the profession in general.
So, while Caltrops took a hit, it’s a good thing, fundamentally. It means that it’s brought in line with other standard utility skills, it’s more thematically appropriate, and it will make it even more obvious how gimpy Thieves are in general and how much we need buffs in other areas.
As an example – the MH Pistol is really bad as a condition weapon, mostly because Vital Shot fires too slowly and Body Shot does nothing useful. Caltrops, in being such a good condition stacking skill, masked this inadequacy heavily and now it will be much more obvious how bad P/D (along with P/P really) needs looking at.
Unless they look at nothing and fix nothing lol

Adapt, pick the weakest build you can think of and get so good at it that you kill the cheesy flavor of the month builds. I rolled out venom sharing, which btw is VERY effective if you have a team with half a brain between them. (So no, GC isnt’ the only viable build we have).
Sounds good, now that I look back maybe I did rely on stealth a little too much for everything as a tanky S/d, guess I wasn’t as skilled as I thought . Played Engineer today and it was tough at first but then I got better at it. Now you’re making me log back in instead of sleep..

The 3 second Revealed seemed to fit just right with CnD to Auto Attack chain. The 4 second Revealed screwed this up, now we need to let the 1st Auto hit on a second chain before we hit CnD again. It’s just messy and rough. I run mostly PvE and run a CnD build. I’ll switch from S/D to D/D depending on the situation. Got my 6x Mesmer runes for S/D and with this change it lessens Tactical Strike. D/D is quite good sustained damage with backstab, this change reduced our ability to backstab there for reducing our DPS.
The changes lately are more than nerfs, they attack the core mechanics of the thief. A once ‘elegant’ stealth rotation is now clunky. The agro/stealth mechanic that once helped us stay alive is gone.
I’m thinking of playing another class for a while, seems like its going downhill for thieves. It seems like we get some kind of nerf every single patch. I wasn’t glass cannon backstab in the first place but I still seem to get nerfed. It sucks :/
