I tried something similar to this, pvt build with might and boons from PU.
The lack of dodging and run speed made it feel like a slug though.
I basically felt like a punching bag
You might want to switch marjory’s chili for orrian truffle and meat stew for extra endurance and some might.
Marjory’s chili is gonna get quite expensive soon when pristine spores will go up in price due to low supply.

Also for the runes, instead of putting all eggs into the might basket you could get 3 +15% boon runes to boost your PU boons.
Or 4x altruism and 2x water for +30% boons and might on heal.

While many people may be talking about dungeons, i am one of those people who really dislikes them and wouldn’t do a dungeon even if you have me 1000 gems per day for it.

What i do like though is the open world.
Anet has made a beautiful world, which unfortunately is totally empty, all the hard work that has been put in those maps is going to waste because noone has much reasons to go back there.
There is neither a challenge due to the bad downscaling nor is there any reward.
After playing since release, i still haven’t done world completion or done all jp’s, simply for the reason that if i do it all, there’s nothing left to do.

It would be nice if there were some initiatives to make people go back into the world, not force them, but encourage them.
Examples are:
- Fix downscaling, make lowlvl areas challenging to even lvl 80’s
- Allow for world exploration reset, maybe create some headquarters for the Tyrian Exploration Society where we can reset it, and reward people with certain tokens for completing it again that can be exchanged at the Society HQ.
Or have it work like the books in GW1 that made people go back doing missions.
- Make certain items drop in regions that are unique to the region.
Minipets for example, make an account bound minipet for each region (kryta, maguuma, shiverpeaks, etc.) that only drops there.
- Have some map wide events, like the current scarlet invasions, but unique to the map and not involving scarlet

Most of the trolling and complaining is actually due to bad design decisions on Anet’s end imho.
People complain about blobbing, because somehow the game rewards the people doing it.
People complain about getting ganked, because the game favors dps and chain cc.
People complain about hacks and exploits, because after more than a year nothing has been done about them.

Just removing the forum subsection will not solve anything at all.

1) lack non targeted skills.
Many of our skills require a target which makes it for one a pain to fight someone with stealth, and also a pain to fight in zergs where targets run everywhere, out of range, or are downed (and invul for a few seconds) by the time we get to do something.
Some ground aoe with considerable damage would be welcome.

2)Clumsy mantra’s.
In a metagame where people throw around aoe cc and where burst damage is common, having a 2.75s channel skill that doesn’t even do anything by itself is just out of place. Especially combined with the fact that we don’t have access to stability in any reasonable way.

If you want boons and be supportive, you might be better off with 5 platinum doubloons instead of 5 snowflakes.
Gives you +20% duration instead of +5%.
For runes you could go 4x altruism and 2x water.
Gives you still +30% boon durarion, and aoe 3x might on heal.

Reality however is somewhat different unless you roam in fluffy unicorn land or are just a resident forumwarrior.

Anyone saying L2P actually means, L2search google for the best meta build and copy paste it.

This thread has got me thinking aswell about more zerg viable mesmers.
Been toying around with mainly pvt builds on buildcraft now.
And there seems to be something that is often overlooked, which is sigils on the weapons.
When in zerg fights, ‘on kill’ sigils should be very usefull as people you tagged die left and right you constantly get kills. What if you use sigils as ‘Superior sigil of stamina’ and ‘Superior sigil or restoration’ or ‘Superior sigil of luck’
Thats basically free endurance, free boons, free healing everytime someone dies.
Offcourse you can only have max 2 sigils active at a time, so you aren’t getting all 3 of those.

You’ll only fight em off if you have a dedicated roaming or dueling build.
Blackwater is effective in that since it punishes the thief for attacking.
Bad thiefs can even get killed by it.
Good thiefs will just poke you a bit and go away.

It’s a very boring build though and pretty useless in bigger engagements.
So i stopped using it.
Now i just view thiefs as a natural occurring wvw hazard that’s pretty much out of your hands, cant be bothered to have a whole build dedicated to stop gankers.

Also it seems like they tweaked the matchup formula a bit, i’m not seeing any totally crazy matchups with servers 10-15 places apart being thrown together.

I think they make them limited time simply so people who want them go to buy gems quickly with real money.
If the skins were unlimited time many people would just go buy them in the long run with gems bought with gold.
The skins will be back in the store later again i suppose.

I see a lot of thieves saying not being able to counter a thief is a l2p issue.
Maybe you could turn that around and say thieves who do get killed have a l2p issue.
I have encountered good thieves which you simply can not kill.
Sure there’s a lot of bad ones that die to aoe and auto attacks, or have predictable patterns, but the good ones simply don’t.

Don’t think we’ll be rising much more for the time being, we will be at rank 14 at the end of this season.
And all the servers above us do have much better coverage than us.
We might be able to give them hell one week if we really push for it, like what we did against FR on week 1, but there’s no way we can sustain that amount of pressure.

I have been trying a grenth chill build a while ago.
But i found that it was quite clunky to get the chill aoe to hit while i’m trying to heal, because when you heal you usually try to be far away from the enemy as to not get interrupted yourself.

Now i am also using a 20/20/30 build with chaotic interruption, but with GS/Staff.
Both have aoe (possible) interrupts and synergyses well with the trait.

Skills like pistol 5 and signet of domination will benefit less from the trait, because you already do a 2 and 3 sec stun with it, making the immobilize somewhat redundant.

The upscaling of DE would be very nice indeed.
I think if they want to make the world feel more dynamic they have to make it so there are consequences for winning or failing an event.
Like first thing they should do is remove the WvW stat bonuses from PvE and give PvE it’s own bonus system.
Each map could have a stability rating, depending on how the forces of good are doing against the bad guys. If noone goes on the map, it gets basically overrun by enemies and the stability rating will be low, granting no worldwide bonus to players.
Unstable maps however could grant a local bonus (like +mf, ) to everyone that is on the map, to encourage people to go there in the first place.

This way it might make people care a bit more about the world and reward people for doing more diverse content instead of farming.

Heres a boon build i found on youtube yesterday by someone named Zumi.
Not sure if this person frequents this forum a lot, but it looks quite nice tbh.

He links the build in the description.
If you don’t want to use PU, you can also get Bountiful interruption, with staff and gs aoe interrupts you can get a load of boons and might to wreck people.

Meanwhile i have been experimenting with somewhat the opposite, more focused on cc.
Using chaotic interruption and crippling dissipation.

Indeed it’s a boring matchup specially for us who raid. But EB at primetime is nice. Fighting both Fort Panic and UW blobs. Thanks for all the lootbags last night at EB keep, FR. Impressive sneak attacks on our T3 towers from UW Mayh, although failed mostly. Trying to enjoy most as we can. Bashing our heads at empty keep doors is indeed so boring. Wish you all the best UW after the season, hope you can rise again.

As far as the new currency goes I feel like it would be more trouble then it’s worth. They would have to create the new system, figure out what you need to buy with it, make it fair reward wise, track bugs and exploits, possible new npc, ect. Lastly on top of that people could get confused by a whole new currency about how to use it. Not to mention lorewise what is the purpose of it? Gold is money, Karma is your status/name with the people, dungeon tokens are favors for helping with the problems there.

Minipets usually make people do crazy stuff to get them.
Maybe add one account bound minipet per region that drops only there.
And release a new set each year.

I love this mini idea though, it would sooo make some maps more popular. Of coarse people will find the easiest spot to farm, but that goes without say. Also yes to the account bound that way you have to be the one to farm for it, instead of just buying it off the market.
Realistically, that’s 25 maps if they do all maps, so asking for another 25 minis each year on top of all the minis we get every release might be a little crazy/over the top. After all anet will run out of “original” ideas for the minis eventually and series 5 minis will be all reskin minis but with a hat or something, which would be kind of lame imo if too many were like that. So I would suggest just 5-8 map minis put out yearly/biyearly plus that wouldn’t be too crazy for the player to only have to farm 5-8 maps instead of all of them every year.

Yes it may be a bit much if it’s one mini per map.
But per region would be 5 : kryta, orr, maguuma, shiverpeaks and ascalon.
They could even add a 6th unique to wvw, other than the one we get at the end of the season.

While people are saying a thief cant do damage while in stealth.
The mesmer can also not do damage to a thief while he is in stealth.
All our skills require a target and we have no aoe, shatters require a target aswell.

So, if both thief and mesmer are stealthed, noone can damage eachother.
If only thief is stealthed, noone can damage eachother.
If only mesmer is stealthed, thief can still damage the mesmer and mesmer can damage the thief.
If none is stealthed, both can damage eachother .

It’s silly how many people have whined about PU mesmer so far.
Just go look at Vash’s video of gs shatter and see how he melts multiple people.
The difference is people get frustrated by fighting against a condi-PU mesmer because the harder you fight it and just spam buttons the more you hurt yourself.
They shouldn’t complain about PU mesmer being easy, since the reason they die to it is cause they don’t even know how to play their own class.

And no i don’t even play a condi-PU build myself anymore since it’s just a troll build.
You can’t even kill a dolyak with it in under 3 mins.

Might be nice.
Although in the end people will just farm the most profitable events again but it’s better than nothing

I’ve been thinking about being able to reset world exploration.
Players could reset it, maybe all that would stay are waypoints.
And skillpoints don’t give any skills the second time, but you still get exp.
At the end of completing the world exploration again they might give one gift of exploration (instead of two, since second time is easier)
This would also allow people to make more than 2 legendaries without having to resort to alts or the TP.

Also, they could give less populated maps a bonus in drop chances and exp, making that people are more prone to go to those maps for some loot, and also rewarding new players that have to get trough these low pop areas.

Some more map wide events would also be nice.
Like what happens now with scarlet’s invasions, but different ones, and multiple at the same time across the world.

They just have to make it so that there’s always something to do that rewards players, but not in a way that can be farmed continuously.

To all those attempting to fail at counting how long a mesmer can stealth, ill make the math simple.
Assume all traits and skills affecting stealth.
And not considering conflicts for when skills come of cd and you may still be in stealth.

I’ll give the amount of stealth as a fraction of stealth divided by cooldown.

Prestige traited: 4/24
Decoy traited; 4/32
Veil traited: 6/90 (no way to run trough it 3 times with PU, you would need the glamour skills for that aswell)
Mass invis 6/90

Adding that all up comes to 17/40
Which is 42.5%.
Requires 20/0/30/0/25
Assume we add:
Desperate decoy 4/90 (assuming you are below 50% hp everytime every 90s)
Requires 20/10/30/0/25

Assume we add the glamour traits, veil will have -20% CD and last 2s longer.
Veil: 9/72 (you can run trough 3 times now)
Requires 20/10/30/20/25

All this would add up to 19/36 stealth time.
Or 52.7%

And it would only require 105 trait points …

Normal PU mesmers with traited torch and untraited decoy will have 26.6% stealth uptime at most. Most dont use veil cause it uses up a spot for a condi removal skill.
And mass invis is usually a last resort skill that can easily be interrupted.
And noone takes desperate decoy.

MESMERS / THEIVES - - - Stealthier?

As i have said before, at most, if you take all traits and skills and use skills everytime they come out of cooldown and are 100% efficient in it, a mesmer can have 40% stealth uptime, 36s out of 90s.
AND they would have to magically get 75 trait points to do it.
AND they would have no condition removal, no mobility and no stunbreakers.
Therefor this mesmer does not exist because this mesmer is dead.

Also take into account stealth for a mesmer is purely defensive.
We don’t jump out of stealth to do 9k backstabs every 5 seconds or so.
Also mesmer is the slowest class there is and has no decent access to stability.
We can not run away from fights and will get easily locked down by cc because a lot of classes have tons of it.
We also do not have all these magical boons up all the time, only when we cast chaos storm do we get a few purely random, and when we go in stealth with PU, purely random.
Most of the time mesmers will have barely any boons at all.

Does anyone find it odd that the rune of the mesmer adds 33% to daze duration?
GW only increases durations every 1/4 of a second.
Since all of our daze skills except for magic bullet give only 1 second daze, it means they are only increased to 1.25s.
It would be nice of it was buffed to 50% to it actually has something of a use and it becomes 1.5s, magic bullet would become 3s flat instead of 2.75 (rounded up from 2.66)
It would also synergize better with the change to confounding suggestion which gives +25% daze duration.

Well, not to diminish your performance, you are probably a good player.
But those were really bad players.
I never seem to get that lucky.
Whenever i’m in 1v2 or more i just get chainstunned, immobilised, feared, knocked down and aoe’ed the crap of.

its not about whos stealthier….its the fact we keep getting nerfed all the time and we are the ones that have to atually think while stealth…have to actually plan and move to set up attacks. mesmers dont have to dot hat. they dont get revealed…..we do everytime almost. huge difference. we cnat do dmg while invis…they can. they can invis 50-60% of a 1 v 1 and we can 75%+ but the difference is dmg. they can we cant.

Mesmer can at most be in stealth 35% of a fight.
That is with mass invis, veil, decoy, prestige, all with PU and all their cooldown reductions.
Requires a minimum of 20/0/30/0/25 (20/0/30/0/15 after 10th dec)
Many of our stealth attempts also are prone to failing, getting revealed instead of stealth.
Mass invis is easy to get interrupted 1 +3/4s cast time and easily spotted due to how we raise our right arm , and veil is easy to see and can be aoe’ed.
Choosing all those skills uses up 2 utilities, an elite and an offhand weapon.
This leaves us with no room for condi removal and mobility.

As for mesmer being so easy, remember that we have no spammable skills, once we use a skill it’s on a long cooldown.
We can not use the most appropriate skills everytime like a thief can.
Our damage that comes from phantasms is also very random, they usually don’t survive after their initial attack because many classes have access to much aoe that oneshots them, sometimes even before they can even attack once.
Those phantasm skills also have a long casttime that can be interrupted by cc spam.

Supply dolyaks just need to become more difficult to kill.
Maybe the dolyak should actually be like 2 dollies by default, and when upgraded for supply it becomes 4 dollies, all running together.
The dollies should have default guards, which can be upgraded to lvl 82.
This would make a fully upgraded supplytrain consist of 4 dollies, and 8 lvl 82 npc’s.
Each dolly would represent part of the supply delivered to each tower/keep
