This is what I’m talking about when I suggest phalanx warrior. I think that you’ll enjoy playing it, and you’ll be helping your pug/team significantly.
Change your Berserker Jewels with Soldier.
You “fall” to 48k of critical chance, but increase your toughness and your vitality. Increasing your toughness you increase you power (trait) and whit your power you increase your vitality (trait). But only a little.Or you can use a 6/4/4/0/0 build, with berserker wepon and armor and soldier jewels.
You increase your power to 2680, your healt to 24k, but reduce your crit damage to 185% and your crit rate to 46% (whit fury you reach 66%, and it’s good). Very good damage, good HP and good survavibility.I currently use this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJIQNBhODbkpjaP77wyDORD8DImDMox1Vb09G-ThSBwABs/Yn6PVOCAmVCeV5XnDCAKdB41Ik/BAA4CAIIAzB-e
How big is difference?
This is fantastic. You’ve got the added vitality from the trait line, which will help immensely.
Another thing you might consider:
Phalanx warrior (05062) w/ strength runes (if you’ve got around 80ish gold). You’ll have over 22k hp and have permanent 25 stacks of might for you and your party. You will be a GODSEND in pugs and do pretty decent damage yourself. Nothing compared to 65003, but hey, you’ll survive pretty much everything wearing knight’s gear w/ that 05062 setup.
Honestly, it’s going to be the same 65003 build that Casmurro linked. Those traits are going to be your best bet. Take bersker’s trinkets and weapons and knights everything else. 19k hp is pretty high, and the knight’s gear will allow you to survive better than just having a lot of HP, and w/ the added precision, you can use on-crit foods, like omnomberry ghosts, to steal health, further keeping your health high (almost full @ all times).
OP, I as well thought that this might be a troll thread, but looking at your past messages, I see that you’re totally serious. Arah is my playgroud, and I’d love to take you there and show you the ropes. I can make sure that you understand the mobs, the bosses, and pretty much all the encounters in the dungeon. If you want the dungeons to be easier, you have to practice them, and we teachers in [noob] are more than happy to help you learn, so you can get better and enjoy the funnest dungeon in the game (it really is the best this game has to offer. Lupicus is a brilliantly designed boss. The more you fight him, the more you’ll enjoy it) Put your name in the [noob] dungeon mentors thread and ask for someone to take you through!
I run a full Arah tour (paths 4-1) on Saturday, and some Sunday, mornings. I’d be happy to take you along!
I promise I don’t bite.
Hard.
At first.
This “casual vs. elitist” thing is very interesting to me. I pug Arah (I’m a masochist, I know), and I’ve joined both Px, ZERK, PING GEAR, MELEE LUPI OR KICK, 2000000000k AP OR KICK, and “Please help us” runs, and honestly haven’t seen much of this elitism. Maybe it’s just in the lower tier dungeons that this is prevalent, but I honestly haven’t seen much of it.
I have seen people be mean, and those people were kicked, but this “elitist” mentality doesn’t seem to be as prevalent in Arah as it may be in other dungeons.
Besides, if you’re not going for a record, chill. I totally understand the whole time/reward thing, I really do, but if you don’t like the way the dungeon is going, just leave, or if you made the group, be polite and tell the player that they just aren’t cutting it. That usually will soften the blow.
Manners folks. This can all be fixed with manners.
Lilith, halp! I need help w/ my ele
Good grief. That…. I have no more words.
Also, you can use pristine fractal relics (10 of them) to get whatever ring you want. You can use Guild commendations to get accessories, but amulets are the only things required to spend laurels on. You can forge backpieces w/o visiting fractals once!
You can infuse your rings and backpieces to carry agony resistance infusions. They can go up to at least +14, so 30 AR on all your ascended trinkets + 3 trinkets w/ x amount of agony resistance = 30 + x AR. Example: My guard has 30 AR from 6 trinkets regular infusion. 3 of those are “infused” (you can wiki how to do that) and they each have +6 on them. I have a total of 48 AR from my trinkets alone. If I were to put agony resistance on my ascended weapons as well, that would just add to it.
There you go: You don’t need to craft ascended armor
Are people genuinely complaining that the LS boss is hard? That’s literally the easiest boss I’ve ever faced in a “dungeon” (just so it relates). Even phiw’s can do this! You can’t crit it! COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!
1 more vote for Arah
If you’re on warrior, a good way to determine perfect melee range is to Rush (gs5) him. You won’t hit him, but where you stop moving forward is the correct melee range as to not push him. (At that time, you can switch to axe/sword) OR, if you don’t care about your time/dps, just eviscerate him and where you land is just right.
Remember the famous ranger letting his bear tank the grubs?
Stop being inactive n come back :<
Someone used to suck up all my available time, but I don’t really feel like visiting gw2 anyway. As I may have said a few times already, despite graphics, gw1 is a much better game. Less grind, less qq, more tactic, better reward system = more fun.
It’s a shame as I still consider you as overall one of the best GW2 players in PvE and it also saddens me that there may not be a Lupi Swag #3 now
Dub nuuuuuuu!!!!! You must come back!!!!
Thank you Raithe, Cloenym, Jerus, Elitejelly, and Ropechef for coming on the tour! We had a LOT of fun and learned more!!
Hope to see more people next weekend!!
We’re starting now! Need 1 person!
This morning! Tour! 1000 PST
14 hours. Was worth it. If you’re on NA right now, we can work on it. PM me if you want.
I know it’s kinda late/early, but I’m gonna do an Arah tour this morning, around 0900 PST. NA .I will take any and all comers (well, just 4 more I guess, as I can’t run 2 accounts at the same time). You can be whatever class you want provided you KNOW YOUR CLASS. I’m very well qualified to teach warriors, pretty decent with guardians, and have general knowledge of eles, mesmers, and thieves, but I don’t know much about engis, necros or rangers, so I will expect you to know how to adapt to a situation that is presented to you.
I expect you to have:
Melee weapons
Undead Slaying potions
Life-steal food (Candied dragon rolls are great)
One ranged weapon for Melandru (haven’t gotten that melee spot down yet)
A really good attitude
Teamspeak (a microphone isn’t necessary, but I don’t want to have to type out all my instructions)
Additionally, I request that all my trainees, warrior or not, watch this video. Brazil did an amazing job showing exactly how to melee Lupicus (apply what he said to your class). We will not be ranging Lupi at all, so be prepared for melee.
Contact me in game and we’ll get started when we have a full party. We will start with p4 and work our way backwards. You don’t need to stay for the whole thing, so if you just need p4 for you DM title, I don’t mind if you leave after one dungeon. I’d hope I’ll have more people waiting for someone to drop. I’ll explain stuff as needed, or we can just go.
Most likely gonna do another one tomorrow morning as well.
pug arah paths with ivan for 12 hours straight
Pretty much this.
So many lurking BHBs…. I was looking for the new dungeon tourney thread and someone moved it into that b.s. subforum “in-game events”. ANet REALLY doesn’t like us. Cutting us down at every turn.
How in the eff did this get moved here? Some BHB or overzealous mod? Wow…
While Rin’s advice is good, don’t be afraid to tell people you’re new, and ask how to do things. Don’t complain, just ask how to do it better. Most people will be more than happy to teach/share knowledge. Join [noob]. We’re really good teachers, and pretty nice people.
Were you using the right hylek pots? Only the ones you get from the heart in timberline work in dungeons.
ahhhhhhhhhh… yeah, wasn’t using those ones.
huh… i was just in arah an hour or so ago and couldn’t use them
These work though. Just tested them.
Wow…. yeah, they’re not working anymore
As someone who is working the Arah Solo with a necromancer…
yes it is painfullly slow. I find myself switching builds and or weapon sets between each encounter depending on the path. Or even for certain trash runs.
I am gonna do it though….
cause if i can do it on a necro, everything else should be easy right???right?
0.o
lol! Hylek potions must be your friend
Are you talking about : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pot_of_Hylek_Poison_
Because I loaded up on those thinking I could use them in dungeons but it seems I can’t, did I get the wrong ones and there are others?
My bad: This is what I meant
I die everytime someone replies in very broken english to one of my comments on that video and tells me how badly Nemesis owned me and how he is a math master and I don’t know anything about the game.
I was just reading your responses dude… It’s just…. it’s just sad. The lack of english (google has a translation thing. and it’s nice too people) and pure fanboi-ism kinda makes me die on the inside as well
I am sorry for your loss as well. I hope that diving into the leveling grind will bring you a sense of peace, if only for a short while. I know it did me when I went through the most horrible time in my life last year. Best of luck to you.
Very interesting read Kain. I remember being high as a kite on vicodan after wrist surgery and playing with one hand through the 2nd and 3rd disc. You’re absolutely right, and Gab’s right too. Sad, but true.
The only thing that matter is this: In the words of Brazil: “This week, on sale in the gem store for the low, low price of 400 gems….”
Drunk Lupi is fun as hell
Here’s the deal w/ Brie: You get her to 50% (your ele can do this the best), and swarms of mobs will come and try to kill the terminal. You can prevent this one of 2 ways: DPS her down before they kill the terminal (put on Berserker armor, stack might to 25 and perma fury w/ proper trait line and you’ll be fine), OR equip lots of stability and kill the mobs while still under the invuln buff and then kill brie at your leisure (you have to still bring her down to sub 50%).
Have fun next time!
Nomad’s armor. AH build.
Also, this may not be the game for you, as it was built around the absence of the “holy trinity”. Not meaning to be rude, but it’s just how the game works.
Sorry.
Those two things might not even accomplish everything you want either. There’s no dedicated “tank” class in gw2.

Sorry.
After soloing Arah p2, I realize that dungeon path is how solo Instanced content SHOULD’VE been like.
I wrote up a 3000+ word post on the matter, but I decided to save it to my computer and polish it.
In short, ArenaNet is falling in the same trap as Call of Duty. Here’s what “modern” game design did to Doom, and compare it with GW2 instances:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4yIxUOWrtwIn many ways, the original Doom was a lot like GW1 in that you didn’t wait on “doors” to open very much, or NPCs to finish talking. You had a lot of non-linearity regarding how you approaches mobs, and you were punished for failing to use tactics.
As opposed to GW2 which, like in the video, uses needless “interactable” objects, gimmicks, NPCs holding your hand, and “leaving the mission area”. Even the monster encounters are designed in the same way (as opposed to having a vast canyon full of enemies to clear, like in GW1, they only pop up during story events in GW2 and that video.)
Interesting. Looking forward to reading it. Tell me the gist of it in game.
You might be able to catch Lilith around that time, but I can’t be sure of anything since I actually hardly log in anymore. :p
Or try Colesy if his internet isn’t screwing up, last I heard it settles sometime around reset but that was a few months ago so it might be a different story now (and he doesn’t log in much either from what I gather).
And then we have Swiftpaw. Our own Grandmaster Mind Brain. Don’t be scared, she won’t eat you. :>
Timezone wise I can’t help you, since I live in the SEA timezone and usually adopt a hit-or-miss approach to seeking mentors myself.
PS: If relations between you and a mentor somehow break down I wouldn’t have a clue of what to do.
Swifty’ll eat you. Alive.
And you’ll like it.
Defiant stance will turn all incoming damage to heals for 3.5 seconds. It’s great for situational stuff, but 9 times out of 10, you should take healing signet.
It’s also possible that he was under the effects of at least 8 stacks of might, fury, and signet of might. Against a thief… yeah, 11.5k at least. He might have also have had bloodlust stacks as well, and a force sigil.
That’s w/ soldier’s armor. If he was min/maxing (why you would do that in wvw, I don’t know), it could’ve been more. I think I’ve seen a 18k killshot on Lupi. I was drunk at the time, but I remember (this was a long time ago too) being very impressed. (I had might, fury, both banners w/ force and berserker’s armor (mismatched).
So, I’m gonna post this here, because I don’t trust anyone outside this subforum for PvE stuff:
I was watching Nike and Goku’s excellent off wall lupi solos the other day and noticed them camping greatsword, even though they were both on 65003 builds. This got me to thinking: What AA is better? GS or Axe? I know that 100b is baws, wwa is an awesome dodge skill, bladetrail hits twice, and if you can position it right, rush hits like a tank, but wouldn’t it be a better choice to do the dps rotations for axe/sword+gs vs camp gs?
Please don’t think that I’m in any way disrespecting these two players, and I’m not criticizing their solos in the slightest. I’m just curious as to their methods.
Think of it like this – you either sit on 20 stacks of might or you sit on 8 stacks if you sit on axe. Every single Greatsword skill is a dps increase over auto attack and they have such low cooldowns you can just spam them over and over again. It hardly even matters if you have to cancel a hundred blades because you just do it again 6 seconds later. It also means you have permanent access to the energy sigil proc and block from axe sword if you sit on gs.
Aahhhhhh….. I see. Thanks for clearing that up all. I appreciate it.
Even more so than Axe?
I don’t think people realise how much time and effort is involved in teaching
especially if it’s soloing an arah path. I get so many requests for those, some even offer to pay, but it’s very time consuming and often times can be very frustrating depending on how cooperative the person being taught is.
There are non-cooperative people when teaching? wat.
Yeah. There are people who just give attitude/won’t listen to reason. It sucks, but, we can only do so much.
Good thing I never had that happen to me. If someone wanted to get something teached from me, it’s either listen or gtfo; he’s the one who wants to learn. If he has valid points I’ll listen of course but if someone does his own thing anyway, why should he need me then?
I absolutely agree.

Sorry Wethospu. Like you, I don’t have in depth info of anything other than warrior, but if there’s any other help I can give w/ gw2dungeons, please let me know.

Ahhhh…. didn’t think about that. Do the wraiths in p3 do aggro off toughness?
Great guide. I asked this on your youtube, but I’ll ask it again here: What build would you want to take for Mai Trin? And why would you want a soldier staff in dungeons/fractals vs a berserker one?
Yeah, warrior is the king of Arah solos. Just make sure that you bring energy sigils. You’ll like all those extra dodges. In terms of soloing, the honest answer is that path 1 is the easiest to solo on warrior. Alphard’s a pain in the rear w/o reflects in p2 (that I’ve found at least) and the magecrusher is a pain as well in p3. The only issue w/ p1 is that you have to get some people to help w/ tar, but if you’ve got bored guildees and aren’t trying to sell, you could get help pretty easily (and free).
As for consumables, you don’t need any to make the runs on warrior. Between berserker stance, endure pain, defiant stance, shake it off, signet of stamina, gs 3,5, sword 2 and fear me (really useful for p2 choke point before Brie), you’ll be almost untouchable. Elemental powders are useful to have for lupi, but aren’t really necessary if you’re not pushing for time. Just bring fury and dolyak signet w/ fgj on lupi. It’ pretty much easy mode.
I’m unfamiliar with this inside joke.
No you’re not my friend. We all have fond memories of VideogamerMike.
He is the prophet of all that is… well… a word that I can’t post here.
