Skipping is not intended. If they were going to fix anything, it would be the skips themselves.
It actually is, especially in Arah. The most obvious case is the spider room in p2. There’s a suit out there, waiting for people to jump into it to push the spiders out of the way. It’s a whole mini-event that people can do, but those with skill don’t need to do it.
There are other examples, but I don’t feel like listing them.
As for the “rewards only for killing everything”, I’d only like to see it add to the rewards that are there.
Swifty, via Twitter I directed Danicia to your song. She stated that it was beautiful.
So what happened w/ Danica?
I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. This toxic stacking environment is ruining my immersion. I go into a dungeon and I expect to be able to play my class as it was intended. Why should I, as a RANGER be forced to stand in melee range with my LONGbow? It’s called *long*bow for a reason, it’s because it’s meant to be used at long range. I can understand that my bear pet needs to melee, but that doesn’t mean I have to. Seriously sick of the elitism that is rife in dungeon parties these days, the community has really gone downhill.
Back at release I never had trouble getting into groups but now it’s just stupid. They don’t care about me at all, and I’ve had enough. When they’re all on the ground complaining about not enough dps, I’m the last one standing and I alone am ressing them. I have been standing outside of the stack every time and playing as the game was intended and what thanks do I get? A swift kick. Now I understand that there’s a ‘meta’ now, so yes, I have adapted.
I now use a whiptail devourer for the pet because everybody dislikes bears so much. I have really gone the distance to satisfy people here while still staying true to what my class is supposed to be. I even used Search and rescue to res people when their stack dies. I have done nothing but play for the sake of other people since day 1 but nobody care, they are all incredibly selfish. Enough is enough, Arena Net has to make the changes because I’m done making changes to my game play for the sake of other people.

Selfish gear? What the hell are you guys on.
I understand wearing the zerk gear and that the combo gives significantly more damage than pvt, but I don’t get labeling pvt selfish gear.
It helps you survive plain and simple.Read that back to yourself. It helps YOU survive. Berserker gear helps you dps quickly, improving the party survivability as you kill mobs faster.
True.
But what would be the difference in time it takes to kill lets say a pack of mobs if the guardian decided wear pvt over zerker? Does any one really know?
5o% faster, but Swifty could correct me more precisely.
So one person in pvt makes the run 50% slower?
I apologize for the misunderstanding. The 50% was the dps difference btwn PVT and Berserker gear in terms of dps. If all things are equal, the difference would probably be around 10% in a full group kill time. (50% additional time added on by 20% of your party=10% total time added on to the kill time of a mob)

I guess it bit too much counts what is actually considered as an attack. So I changed the question.
But new questions:
Round 5: Which dungeon or fractal boss (champion or legendary) can be entirely soloed on downed state? Which professions can do this?
Champion bunny? Ele and warrior? (Drawing straws)
I guess the 2nd build on this topic is a bit more for WvW… Oh well, thanks for the video, looks nice
Wellllll….. not really, but that’s a topic for another discussion. Read Miku’s thread about Warrior build for PvE/Dungeons/Fractals/Generally kicking the living crap out of anything that’s controlled by an AI. That’ll serve you well.
I would say the same thing that I said in another post that wanted to use the Hammer for PvE:
you have to look at the skills of the hammer, and the traits needed to put them to most effective use:
Earthshaker: Good skill, but I’ll elaborate on this in a bit.
AA: Hammer Swing, Bash, and Smash. From what shoddy testing I did when I got Twilight last year, it’s the strongest AA available to warriors (2 handed weapons), but like I said, it was very shoddy testing, so if Guang’s here, I’m sure he’ll be able to tell you more concrete numbers than I.
Fierce Blow: 8 second weakness that cleaves. While weakness is indeed useful in high-end fractals, it can better be performed by warhorn 5, which also doubles as a blast finisher
Hammer Shock: Cone AoE and cripple. As previously stated, cripple isn’t exactly… the best skill desired in PvE. Worthless in Arah and most other dungeons as well.
Staggering Blow: This is the skill that makes hammer completely unwanted in higher end dungeons and fractals. Most of the players who are very good at PvE content want enemies close so melee attacks can have their highest value and boons can be upkept and yadda yadda yadda. (Look at one of Colsey, aka maha, explanations of stacking strategy. He explains it better than I) This knockback completely disrupts the flow of a good group. If you’re an anti-stacker, that’s a conversation to be had for another day.
Backbreaker: Knockdown. 30 sec cooldown. Mace 5 better by far. Sorry.
The kicker here is that you’d have to sacrifice 4 trait points to make a hammer build even remotely feasible. If you’re taking them out of the power line, you’re loosing 15% damage period. If you’re taking them out of arms, you’re loosing a great deal of crit chance and 15% damage every time you activate your very useful Earthshaker ability. Not worth it.
Those 4 points in defense aren’t needed at all once you learn the encounters better, so survivability isn’t something that you should be concerned about if you know what you’re doing.
All in all, other weapons do what hammer does, just better.
Check out the link that I put above. It’ll really help you in your dungeoneering. Also, check out this video. It’ll give you pretty much everything that you want to/need to/should know about warriors for dungeons and fractals.
Anything else isn’t going to be helping yourself or your team. There are many options if you can’t afford stuff, plus a lot of armor/weapons/trinkets are free due to dungeon running and fractals/dailies.
Welcome to Warrior!
^ Yeah, not really. Sorry dude, but you might as well start w/ meta. GS+Axe/mace 65003. Check out Purple Miku’s guide. It’ll carry you and others through every dungeon out there.
Really? I hope so…
I realize that, and have other things, both in game and irl, that I care about more, but I like the shinies.
I’ve got more than enough money, but no one can sell them to me
So, I’m the aforementioned idiot and would like to get the shattered wing back skin. I was too dumb to get it during dragon bash last year and I was hoping that I could get it now.
Are my hopes in vain?
(edited by IvanTheGrey.2941)
Nuuuuu!!!! I can’t get on until next week
Ok Maha… you keep thinking that bro xD
He’s in the top NA dungeon guild which hold, currently, 8 dungeon speed run records. He personally has the top boss time for the Legendary ABom in arah. He knows exactly what speed runs are. (Unless that’s swifty posting, and she knows just as much as colsey, only will cuss you out in Aussie accent vs. an English one)
But you are right. LFG does need a rework.
I know
Just givin’ you a hard time
If you are the single guardian in a fractal party then you should try a Knight’s/or zerker gear hammer build.

All in all, other weapons do what hammer does, just better. I’m sorry you don’t like Greatsword so much. Have you looked at the pure axe build?
Leo (No Pulse) is a very good teacher. He helped me with my first Lupi solo as well. I would suggest watching these videos to get an in-depth tutorial. It’s almost as good as having a teacher.
Not disagreeing with you, but I would like to clarify some of your posts:
Fractal lvl 40. Uncatergorized. 5 x warriors. Good luck with the harpies. If only someone had reflection.
true, but warriors CAN do reflection (you have to trait it, but it is there)
Speed clear lupi. 5 x warriors. If only one of them had attack speed boost and reflections.
Arah p2/TA p2..if only someone had mass stealth.
can’t say much for TA, but stealth in Arah p2 is completely unnecessary.
Pvp. Particle blinded. If only we had someone in the team a little removed that can clearly and quickly target key players and harass them..maybe a mesmer..
I’ll take your word for it. I don’t PvP nearly as much as I should
If only we had someonethat can set up, and detonate various combo fields…
Gonna call b.s. on part of this. Warriors have plenty of combo field detonations, with the important ones (imo), blasts, being covered in both utilities and weapons (warhorn 5)
The reasons are numerous. I think if you take your current experience to lvl 80 and play various content you’ll see a number of professions can match warrior and provide a lot of team things that warrior just can’t.
Very true, and good points, with just a little clarification needed.
OP, I would more than happily take you through Arah when I’m able to get back on on a regular basis. I’ll add you and we’ll go
Additionally, I’m going to start doing Saturday Morning Arah Tours when irl stuff chills out.
Teach, come back already!
Go [Noob]!
Seriously dude… You need to come back!!!!
I actually updated last night, was going to play for a bit but was too tired by the time it finished. I’ll probably start playing casually some. Not PVT casual, just playing here and there. I have a different mouse that I have to relearn on…
Nice!!
Maybe no one will replace her.
I can see it now, it’s going to be anarchy.-Lilith’s fashion thread will become the seedy corner of the subforum, filled with strippers and inappropriate pictures of asuras and charrs fornicating.
-Iris’s [Noob] mentor thread will become a flame war between the casuals over which is better, ‘tanking’ or healing?’
-That filthy forum cretin Swiftpaw will have her account restored and rule supreme. She will lead a hoarde of zerker scumbags around the various subforums beheading anyone who does not convert to the meta.
-Guanglai will finally lose his sanity and explode. The aftermath is 5 person necromancer parties = new meta.
-Colesy will get a sex change IRL and insist that everyone on the forums refer to him as ‘LadySarahMahariel’* as per request.
-Atse will make a spectacular comeback and write a thousand page thread of haiku’s dedicated to the endeavour of skilled play in a baron and hopeless zerkexploit meta.
-The toxic community will become acidic, and elitist jaguars will prowl the tech support forums, questioning anyone that plays on potato quality computers.
-Brazil will spam giant green hulk-kittens in every single thread.

Seriously dude… You need to come back!!!!
Knights would be the most beneficial for PvE, especially high end fractals.
It is the dawn of a new age my friends. Peruse if you will upon the LFG, for it is now warm and inviting. Long gone are the days of elitist scumbaggery, this new gear set has changed everything. The eradication of the exploit meta has finally become a reality and all around casuals rejoice! Rejoice I say! The mighty gods of arena net have truly cleansed this toxic community once and for all. The zerker filth has been flushed out and Old man ’Hrouda’s venus fly traps are left withering and dead in the Dry Top sun, long forgotten.

Are you…. Are you kidding me?? What… the… I don’t even…
Holy crap, I forgot to tell you guys!!! I encountered one!! A Nomad bearbow ranger!!! I had my instance destroyed (by someone in a guild that I’ve got mad respect for… really ticked me off) and was so angry/frustrated, I joined a “P1, Will Carry” Arah run. Got to Lupi and everyone went down in phase 2, except for this ranger. I was starting to get a little suspicious, but, whatever, right? PHIW ftw, and I knew what I was getting into. I continued doing my best to stick to his zombie tail as he chased down this ranger. Got him to phase 3 and he caught up to the ranger and did 2 bubbles in a row. I’m thinking after the 1st one, “Ok…. he’s still alive. PuGs traiting for survival. Whatever.” Then the 2nd one. And he was still around a quarter health. I just shook my head. I’ve never seen someone tank something like that in gw2. I asked, and it was confirmed: Nomad’s gear. Wow.
NOMAD’S NEW META!!!
I’m sorry everyone. Really rough rl stuff. Gonna have to take a hiatus from teaching right now as well. I’ll be back soon though. I’m thinking of doing Arah weekends, doing 2 full tours on both Saturday and Sunday, hopefully accommodating any and all potential students/Arah runners.
Would there be an interest in this from the community?
Due to unforeseen circumstances, this will not be happening.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo-336Lf1zY might help you out.
Oh, I’m on NA. Sorry EU people!!
Hi all!
I’m going to be doing an Arah tour (all paths) Saturday morning, approx 0900 PST. I will take any and all comers (well, just 4 more I guess, as I can’t run 2 accounts at the same time). You can be whatever class you want provided you KNOW YOUR CLASS. I’m very well qualified to teach warriors, pretty decent with guardians, and have general knowledge of eles, mesmers, and thieves, but I don’t know much about engis, necros or rangers, so I will expect you to know how to adapt to a situation that is presented to you.
I expect you to have:
Melee weapons
Undead Slaying potions
Life-steal food (Candied dragon rolls are great)
One ranged weapon for Melandru (haven’t gotten that melee spot down yet)
A really good attitude
Teamspeak (a microphone isn’t necessary, but I don’t want to have to type out all my instructions)
Additionally, I request that all my trainees, warrior or not, watch this video. Brazil did an amazing job showing exactly how to melee Lupicus (apply what he said to your class). We will not be ranging Lupi at all, so be prepared for melee.
Contact me in game that morning (I’ll be on a little earlier), and we’ll get started when we have a full party. We will start with p4 and work our way backwards. You don’t need to stay for the whole thing, so if you just need p4 for you DM title, I don’t mind if you leave after one dungeon. I’d hope I’ll have more people waiting for someone to drop
See you Saturday!!!
Both Karma and badges are very easy to come by to a point where I make about 200k karma a week from WvW and casual PvE, and I don’t think that making a legendary is very relevant atm to a casual player who just hit 80.
Personally, I play with half berserk/knight armor and knight trinkets with strength runes, this works for me on both PvE and WvW as I serve the same role in both (mightstack), It also works fine for solo play though I’d recommend Hoelbrak runes as they’re cheaper and make you a bit tankier. Don’t worry about Ascended gear yet, the difference between Asc and Exotic is hardly noticable.
This is a very, very good idea to do when learning to master PvE. Knights and slowly moving over to Berserker’s. I didn’t know that about the karma, and I’m quite jealous
Miku’s one of the best PvE guys in the game. Listen to what he says
He won’t steer you wrong.
Btw; you don’t HAVE to have strength runes. Scholar runes are an amazing set too. It all depends on what kind of content you run, i.e. pug/solo or guild runs?
I totally gotcha w/ the moving slow thing. The great thing w/ the 65003 build is that you can have perma swiftness both in combat and out w/ furious speed trait and gs3,5, sword 2 and warhorn 4 rotations. I don’t think that there’s a faster travel method than that.
You’re in the right direction for maximizing your deeps. Purple Miku’s got an amazing, in-depth guide to gs+axe/mace in dungeons and all pve, and I would urge you to look at it. It’s pretty awesome in my opinion.
Were you charlie or bravo?
Try to save your karma, as it’s harder to come by these days, and you may want to make a legendary in the future. Same w/ WvW tokens for “Gift of Battle” (also used in Legendary weapon forging), but you can get a discount on your trinkets using them.
You’re going to be using two different sets of armor for WvW and PvE. If you’re doing primarily PvE, you’re going to want to invest in Berserker’s armor (or knight’s to start w/) and it can be obtained for free w/ dungeon tokens: Citadel of Flame, Crucible of Eternity and The Ruined City of Arah. The trinkets and rings can be obtained for free from guild missions/laurels/pristine fractal relics, and the back pieces can be crafted (for a bunch of cash) or obtained from fractals.
WvW armor (forgive me, but I think that soldier’s is the meta for that, but if I’m wrong, someone please correct me), can also be obtained for free from dungeon tokens: Ascalonian Catacombs, Sorrow’s Embrace and Honor of the Waves Dungeons. Tokens and rings can be obtained the same way.
Your weapons should be berserker as well, for both game modes, and they can also be obtained for free from dungeon tokens (the same places I mentioned earlier)
Those weapons and armor aforementioned are all “exotic” quality. “Ascended” is better, but since you only have limited time, I would recommend going for exotic, as the grind for ascended is a long one.
19D here. Irl has nothing to do with anything. Rifle+sword/axe just isn’t going to provide as much dps as a gs+axe/mace 65003 build. Personally, I think you’re moving in the right direction, just a minor change if you wanna maximize your deeps is all
I tested both the main and phalanx build in pugs. I strongly prefer the phalanx because it gives the party in general much more dmg. I insist on stacking though and if they don’t, I send them watch the loading screen. TBH, people feel the difference with a phalanx in the group (if no one else is might-stacking, ofc) and they actively play with that power they get. Otoh, when I run 6/4/0/4/0 and I carry people, they clearly see they’re at fault and tend to grumble. So for my own sake, when I pug, it’s phalanx.
Regarding the builds, I don’t see why some people prefer using 0/5/0/6/3 over 0/6/0/6/2. With the 0/5/0/6/3, are people using sigils of Battle? I keep the 0/6/0/6/2 with sigils of Strength + the dungeon-specific sigil and I’m doing very fine to keep my 25 stacks. Can someone explain the preference for 0/5/0/6/3?
Personally, if I’m running phalanx in a pug, I want the ability to switch weapons on a moment’s notice if the excrement hits the wind propulsion device. A well gs+axe/mace rotation has saved many a pug that I’ve run with. So, to me, it’s more about utility than a small increase in personal dps.
I just like fast hands. I’ve gotten used to switching my weapons around (65003), and even though it’ not mathematically the highest deeps, it’s decent and keeps me alive.
Berserker is always the best DPS option; especially in high level fractals because a lot of enemies abilities scale of % of total HP and ignore armor.
The problem with many ’zerker builds are glass cannons – hence why so many drop like flies when fighting world bosses.
The amount of DMG ’zerker has over other builds is not as great as it used to be.
To the OP, where will you be playing WvW or PvE? That will determine what you should get. In WvW, toughness and HP help survivability.
The gap is actually bigger because you cannot mix in zerker pieces for ’free" crit damage. At base, a zerker set deals about 50% more than a soldier or knight set. However, Zerker also scales up much better because you have all of the stats needed to benefit from marginal increases to crit chance or crit damage. A Soldier by comparison has high power, so he has some degree of base damage, but he will not benefit from fury or buffs like Banner of Discipline which increase crit chance, since he has no Ferocity so his crits are worthless.
^ Listen to Guang. He knows exactly what he’s talking about for PvE.
I concur with Lilith. I’ve joined CoE pugs and made some of the most vulgar comments filled with a whole crap load of sexual innuendo, and by the end, I’m usually invited to their guild.
I pretty much only pug nowadays, and I run at least p1-3 every day. If there’s a p4 up, I more than likely will join it for the lolz. Yeah, I sell too, but only non-exploited runs. Believe me, there are a lot more things making things toxic than Arah sellers.
some guy in my guild is crafting an ascended set
I’m truly curious as to why?
I think it was GMB that said it: Pugging is like Russian roulette, only all the chambers in the gun are loaded.
So….. has anyone come across this in their dungeon runs? I’m just curious and don’t venture too far outside arah where people generally know a little (JUST A LITTLE) bit better.
