I agree with OP, its sad that we don’t have moving airships and boats in the open world that you can ride on. Getting to new maps through asura gate is lame. Having airships in maps like in Bloodstone Fen and Gendaran Fields that don’t move is depressing as well, if you don’t have the technology for moving airships then don’t make them airships instead make it a platform. Hopefully in the future Anet learns new tech to be able to make the open world more immersive.

It makes me wonder, how hard could it be to make boats and airships move, slightly offtopic but all world bosses basically are on platforms, none of them patrol the map, it feels like your in an instance or raid where bosses are in a circle platform and can’t move out of them.

I voted, and i totally support having a solo Q/duo Q only for ranked pvp.

I have voiced my opinion on many threads for years since the removal of solo Q in pvp, I being a mostly solo Q player(90% of the time) have always hated facing against premade teams, whether i win the match or not the idea of 5 solo Q players going against a full premade team is just wrong, it destroys the balanced competitive nature of the game.

With a premade team, which is most likely in teamspeak/discord the communication between that premade team makes their rotation across the map much smoother and makes it unbalanced against solo Q players. Losing against a premade team su<ks, it gives people a reason for giving up in being competitive and instead of the game growing, it alienates more people which benefits premade people and getting them carried to legendary rank, but overall it messes up the game for everyone else, which overall is bad for majority of the community.

If you want to keep playing premade, you can still do that in unranked, Legendary ranked always had the stigma of getting carried by premade teams, and this won’t be an issue coming next season with the changes to come. I got to legendary the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pvp season as mostly a solo Q player(90%)….

After not having any reason to play the 4th season, and the fact that they haven’t made any changes to help soloQ’euers for the the 4th season gave me a perfect excuse to snub the whole season(played 1 game~insane right), instead i kept playing unranked since losing against a premade in unranked did not matter to me because i won’t lose pips for losing a game there~which leads to no rage quitting and no blaming.

its so hard to take OP seriously with all the broken english, hell even the title is broken….if english isn’t your 1st language or your not used to it, do mention, otherwise it sounds funny, that i can’t take your opinion seriously.

play however you want to play, no one is forcing you to play meta, i don’t get your problem at all, you need to play the class more before you complain.

Static Discharge has always been like this as far as i remember the only skills that it has worked for me are Analyze, Throw Wrench, and Surprise Shot ~ and that has been since release i believe. apparently any toolbelt skill that hits an enemy release the Static Discharge, but the tool tip in the trait does not specify this, i hope this gets changed that all toolbelt skills no matter if it hits an enemy or not.

It sucks because there are no healing and elite skill toolbelt skills that effectively works with SD, which makes that trait worth less than it should. I would love to have this change that no matter the skill you use the 1200 range atk skill would work.

dont expect balance changes with content patches that are not also touted as balance patches and dont fall in between pvp seasons :P

obviously the next balance patch is soon with the pvp season 4 ending next week. It would make sense that the next patch would have balance changes, but obviously not all patches have balance changes, i was just updating the fact that no changes happened this patch and was being hopeful that the next patch w/e it maybe will show changes, didn’t think i had to make it clear.

every class has mostly unused weapons due to balancing, and nerfs. here are some weapon combos(mainhand/offhand) i barely see at pvp/wvw.

Beta Eternal Coliseum

I like it, Eternal Coliseum is great. Obviously all pvp maps have advantages and disadvantages for each class that has been true since gw2 release. But more map diversity is good in my book.

I’m bored of the same maps in ranked, if your not competing for world tournament series or the weekly esl cups then you wouldn’t care for ranked outside getting to legendary. On the other hand, unranked is way more fun with all the different maps, i actually miss courtyard in unranked.

Obviously we will never get solo queue back, as a solo player for the most part, it annoys me, but i will take any good that comes out of pvp patches. So tl’dr i like the new map, obviously it will need some changes like the other people in this thread have mentioned, but i would like to see more maps in the future for conquest, since no one really cares about stronghold.

make the f1 ability a range skill and works with static discharge, then i will use this skill just for that, as of now no engi heal skill works with static discarge. And non of the elites works with static discarge as well…..

toughness scaling being removed DOES NOT mean condi engi is useless.

You are wearing vipers….that has both power and condi, if anything you will fit better, since some people would make exclusive 4 condi necros and 1 heal druid to cheese dailys.

Not that i ever cared to join those groups, i’d make my own instead, but now there will be less of those types and more variation of classes in lfg, since the intended change was to make berserkers and vipers geared on equal ground for high level fractals.

I have played Engi since day 1 of head start, and if anything i must say Vipers gear was meant for engineers from the start. I used to use rampagers at some point back then because i always hate how a bunch of my kits deal condi damage, and yet my berserker gear don’t do jacksht to maximize my damage. Same is true now, vipers is still way better feel and flexibility than berserkers, since engis dont have a reliable hard hitting power weapon, and lacks skills to maximize power dmg.

1st of all do when you do try to look for peoples opinions, do mention what game mode it is for, pve, pvp, wvw? then give some details what you are trying to accomplish ex. raids, open world pve, solo roam, zerging?

Anyway play however you want to play, dont be limited by whats highest dmg or whats meta (unless you are forced to ~ raids n stuff), play to have fun not because its the only build that compares to other classes aka don’t play meta cuz other classes play meta, in order to be balanced…

as long as people have a choice, to turn it on and off, or certain servers are made just for pvp and not all, and people can join and quit without fee, then this is good. It would change open world roaming just like when gliding was introduced to core tyria maps. Change is good, as long as everyone has a choice.

or people can stop being cheap and support the game and buy the expansion.

No monthly subs, no forced real money transaction that makes others better except by buying the expansion. You don’t even have to spend even a penny in any of the gem store items like mobiles games that p2win.

The one and only time you really need to pay Anet is when you buy the game once every 2 or 3 years, is that too much to ask. Support can only go so far, without money involved businesses won’t survive.

So we have reached the Ring of Fire, we are just currently at the tip of the island chain, but obviously we will be able to explore the rest of the island in future episodes/updates.


Lets start with Marjory, she wants to bring Belinda back, hence learning from Lazarus. Lazarus will exploit her and whether willing or unwilling Marjory will be against us. Whether she is actually a White Mantle spy or just going to the dark side(much like Sasuke ~ in Naruto)

Lazarus looks and sounds to good to be true. No one makes a change that easily. I don’t care about the mursaat tablets in Ember Bay showing that they are the ones who were betrayed. All i know is that eventually he will go back to his real(old) self, when he gets what he needs. Much like Undead Lich and how he betrayed us in the end of Prophecies.

Caithe will be on a route of redemption much like Canach was on LS2 and HoT story, and will have a bigger role to play than Canach, and represent the Sylvari and all that lead after Mordremoth’s death. Anytime we meet Aurene in the next few episodes, Caithe will be close by as the personal guard. Maybe we will also finally see the Pale Tree again, who took over 100 years to heal back up….

Since we are in the Ring of Fire, and since a new raid wing is being done….I am guessing that the new raid will be accessed from the Door of Komalie. Not that i raid, but i think this will lead us to the Underworld/Fissue of Woe (i feel the Realm of Torment is dead/gone since Abbaddon is dead and Kormir got all his powers).

We know that Rytlock will answer to the Black Citadel. I have no doubts that Rytlock will come back to us, whether he finally took the position from the scrub Smodur or not, I do know that he won’t go down easy, he’s too much of a kitten to get held back.

We also know that Primordus is active from episode 1 of LS3. And now we also know that Jormag is active as well according to Braham. Braham has been gone since the death of Mordremoth, Eir’s body was not shown in her memorial in Hoelbrak. I’m guessing that Braham wanting to revive her either froze her body which lead to her being affected by Jormag’s power hence being a new champion of Jormag and will have to be dealt with, much like we had to deal with Svanir in gw1, while Braham will play out like Jora(also from gw1).

I do not think that Primordus and Jormag will face head on until the new expansion is released, but the next few episodes will lead to the all out war, with us being the third army(along with Lazarus who is only their to get a power/magic of an Elder Dragon or 2, then eventually betraying us).


I have been wanting a personal enemy much like Undead Lich, Shiro, Varesh from gw1, and Lazarus may be heading into that direction. You could say Scarlet was a little personal against us, but she was all over the place and didn’t feel personal enough for me. But i do hope we don’t see anymore enemies like Zhaitan, who for one didn’t even talk. He also did not show any personal vendetta against us and just felt like we killed a beast(saw him for the 1st time, and died during that encouter, lame).

Here are just a few of my speculations after finishing episode 2 of LS3, whats your speculations?

Is there a specific timer for this achievement for participating in coalescence events, like the past current events.

There are 3 locations in ember bay in order to finish this achievement, lava flats, osprey pillars, and burning grotto. It took a while but i finally got lucky to get the lava flats and burning grotto ones, but the osprey pillars one is different. I have waited and semi-afk’d at the specified location(southwest part of the island) for the Osprey Pillars achievement, and have yet to see the coalescence events. I’ve been chilling and watching neflix shows for hours, while waiting for this event that seems to never show.

Has anyone finished this? Is there a specific timer, how much longer should i wait? Is this a bug?

I have been playing guild wars since 2005, I enjoyed the unique storyline and abundant lore of the original game. I was so interested to see the changes in the game after 250 years that i pre-ordered the game as soon as i could.

The release of the game was amazing, but soon after the honeymoon phase, I started to look at the game indifferently. I liked the idea of Elder Dragons as the main villains in the new franchise, but it felt like the game was missing something. It was the old lore. The new game felt somewhat tied in to gw1, but at the same time much different.


After 2 living world seasons, there were alot of changes in the game. They introduced new characters, new enemies, new maps, new lore and finally with the release of living world season 2, something to tie the game to the original gw1 game.

Soon after, the 1st expansion came out. New maps, new enemies, new game modes, more new lore, and again a little bit of tie-in to the old game. The story got better everytime. From the core game’s personal story to the living world season 2, to the Heart of Thorns expansion. Better script, better voice acting, the removal of the side by side dialogue’s and the introduction of the personal character’s voice outside of the cutscenes. Also the way characters interact between each other felt way more fluid.

But still, I felt that the old gw1 lore has mostly been left out. And finally the release of the living world season 3 came. It was a long wait, but from the very first episode it was amazing. New content, new maps, perfect mesh of new gw2 and old gw1 lore, and suddenly i felt as excited as i was back when gw2 first opened their servers.

There was a new fractal, a new pvp map, balance changes, new living world episode all bunched up in one package. After that i wondered if Anet can reproduce the same amount of content for their next patch. And surely they delivered. More tie-in to gw1 lore, new world map, new pvp map, a shockingly new legendary weapon, and more quality of life changes.


Safe to say, I am really happy with this patch, as i was with the last one. Its been an amazing job by the devs. I like the way things have been going lately, and hopefully you guys keep following this path. I haven’t enjoyed the game this much for a long time, my faith in Anet has been restored.

We will never kill an Elder Dragon in a living world update, that is saved for expansions. What i think will happen instead is we will push the story so far to the point that the fight between primordus and jormag will be so big that by the time expansion comes, its a full on war.

i beleive caithe is on a redemption route, she won’t be as shady as she was last expansion. And she might have a bigger role than Canach, as the representation of the sylvari species heading to the next expansion.

imo Lazarus will help us bring 1 or 2 dragons, and get the power of 1 or the other or both, then he will go back fighting us thinking he is now a god, and we will rekt his face.

i wonder if Marjory is a White Mantle insider before we met her in living world season 1, we don’t really know her background all that much to begin with. She’s always been kinda shady like Caithe, hence why she don’t get along with her.

Or Marjory going through the Sasuke route(Naruto) like i said originally, and go to the darkside, ending up as a pawn of Lazarus, and we will have to kill her before we get to Lazarus at some point, much like we kill Undead Prince Rurik in gw1, before killing Undead Lich.

So who else thinks Lazarus is gonna be the new Undead Lich(from gw1), hence help us then backstab us soon after his goal is accomplished.

honestly, i’m happy that anet is finally using old lore back from gw1, because at the start of gw2 we fight zhaitan(oops spoilers lol), and barely nothing is touched from old gw1 lore. Now that the story is using both new gw2 lore and old gw1 lore, the story is in a good balance. So whether it takes them up to 2050, as long as they don’t forget old lore, im happy.

oh yeh both Primordus and Jormag are active, its Fire vs Ice baby! Fighting 1 dragon at a time got old after killing 2 dragons, finally story is shaking up to be more interesting than it ever was. It always bothered my why we only fought and killed 1 dragon at a time for both Zaithan and Mordremoth…..when Elder Dragons are sentient beings, obviously they know whats going on….

or you can play a single player rpg and get that w/e your missing. I do it, i don’t expect an mmo to have the same level of story as Skyrim or Dragon Age Inquisition or Witcher 3, i just stop being cheap and buy those games so i don’t complain. Branching story archs…..your lucky this game even has those, most mmos have super linear story line from start to end…..

In all seriousness, vanilla personal story and living world season 1 did not feel personal at all from the start, starting from living world season 2, then HoT expansion, all the way to living world season 3 the story is getter better lorewise and gets more and more personal.

been playing mmos since 2002…i like the social experience, but i’m one of those people who hate 100% socializing and get nothing done(might as well do skype/FB chat) in the game, 3 out of 4 times i prefer to solo and play the lone wolf card aka Solo beast mode…..but when i need people to talk to their there. Almost everything in this game is soloable, hence why i keep coming back to it every patch(though i leave soon after finishing the content and achievements, better things to do/play for the moment).

So you’re saying that the Charr in GW1 and GW2 look nothing alike and if you were to hold a screenshot of the two from both games side by side… a reasonable person would never tell they were the same thing?….

I never said they don’t look nothing alike….read carefully before you rage on me. It wasn’t a horrible example either, your just making up words i did not mention.

Simply put, just because anet made a character in gw1 look 1 way, does not automatically make him look the same or super close to his look in gw2. The charr looked different, they shared similarities, but over the course of gw1 and gw2, they changed in stature, size, and imo ferocity. 2nd example, Justiciar Hablion in gw1 looks nothing, even in ghost form…..looks nothing at all like he is in gw2, 4foxsake he wasn’t even voiced by Steve Bloom aka Rytlock who voiced him in gw1, dmn anet….

Anet may change the look of Primordus, they may not, don’t be surprised, just accept it when they are finally ready to show him/her/it to us, since none of us can do anything about it. I hated how mordremoth looks since he didn’t look 1 bit a dragon of my ideals, but oh well life moves on…..until then don’t assume he will look the same. And less rage on your replies, thx.

Rifle as condi/hybrid weapon possible?

i’ve played around with rifle for wvw roaming and open world pve, both using my viper’s gear….for wvw i always like the rocket boots, tool kit, elixir gun utilities, for pve change tool kit for flamethrower. for wvw roaming obviously i use sneak gyro, for pve i use mortar. I use firearms,tools and scrapper for wvw for that build; and i switch out scrapper for either explosives in pve.

Rifle has decent survival skills, although not as good as hammer, but fun to run around and play with.

i don’t have any problems with defensive buff…..although i’d rather get an offensive buff, but i will settle for anything as long as we get one(and the thief as well) just for the sake of equality among classes.

@Artaz – i’m looking for a buff that appears with a unique trait icon like the ones i mentioned in the original post, what your suggesting looks good but imagine that changes the devs would have to make just to put your idea in place. Other buffs from other classes like Empower Allies: +150 power, Spotter: 150 precision….these are easy to plug in the game, thats why i am pushing for the devs to put one in place for engis with little effort to them.

I like this idea, it sucks when shield isn’t used because offhand pistol blowtorch is too good for damage. I like the shield skills but always sacrificing burn damage for it sucks. Since they are both share the same cooldown of 12 seconds, i don’t see any problems for this at all.

All i ask is to keep the 900 range on all pistol skills, that isn’t OP in any way…

Difficult to keep myself motivated

I am frustrated and loose motivation fast because some content in Hot and LS3 ep1 are too difficult or instructions on how to defeat bosses is vague (such as Justicar Adrienne) it becomes mind numbing and you should not have to spend 20 min looking up how to defeat a boss. How am I supposed to enjoy the narrative if I get stuck because of a lack of instructions. By the time I am done afterwards I just dont care about the story anymore. Or wandering around maps hoping that a zerg will show up so you can do something in beautiful enviorments that I think could be really cool? I just want to give up and is not fun. Difficult is not always equivalent to better and I think HOT and Raids and some of the LS are running on the premise that harder is better. I understand difficulty and challenge but I should not be ripping my hair out in a game in which I do to relax. I still play the game but feel defeated in a sense. Where is the new content for those of us who are not looking for the hardest or most time consuming challenge?

i don’t know how good your skills, but man i do all the Personal Story, HoT story, and living world episodes(all LS2 and LS3.1 so far) SOLO….

I never read guides on my 1st few tries either, i always want to prove to myself that i can solo everything in this game except hard core pve content aka t4 fractals or raids(i don’t even raid,last time i did was last december~got bored of game, came back a few months later, never got the chance to do it again)….maybe its just a L2P issue(no offense), but i really can’t tell why you have a hard time doing it when its easily soloable….

I’ve done in in full berserkers gear, full condi gear, full tanky gear(soldier’s) all SOLO, and they are all doable…obviously tanky gear makes it slow and tedious but still doable, glass canon gears like berserker and vipers make any story instance EZ mode. Took me probably 5 hours to finish LS3 ep. 1 and finish all achievments….then logged off and played a different game.

TL’DR: i don’t want to be spoon fed everything, but if its not a raid or high level fractals….you can solo it, otherwise its L2P.

the picture of Primordus in gw1 does not automatically make him look similar to what he will look like in gw2. Take the charr for example, they were taller and larger to humans(compared to gw2) and not all of them are hunchbacks in gw1, like there are now in gw2.

I do hope we don’t get anymore dragons like mordremoth who wasn’t apparently a dragon….they are called elder dragons because they have to look the part….otherwise just call them something else.


Maybe it is the Molten Dominator, or maybe the one in 0:35 as i mentioned in the original post is. The close-up cutscene with the little asura makes him look huge, and no world bosses have cutscenes….It could be just a champion of Primordus….just as the Shadow of the Dragon was a champion of Mordremoth….


The close up cutscene is closer to the Heart of Thorns release trailer where Rytlock and friends(joke) saw the Mouth of Mordremoth rising from ground, but it could just be another champion in the next living story episode….

Though i like the idea that Primordus would be a more personal experience to us as an enemy much like the enemies in gw1(Undead Lich, Shiro…), instead of hanging back and meeting him once and killing him soon after like the tragedy of Zhaitan, which still has kept a bad taste on me and lowered my expectations for the next Elder dragons(Mordremoth got a better and more personal story line….but was WAYYYYYYYYYY too short, and could still be improved a lot).

@ the 0:38 of the LSep.2 trailer video is a big butt dragon looking at an asura(main character avatar i’m assuming)…..could it be the big bad fire dragon~Primordus????

Also at 0:35 there is a big bad boss walking in slow-mo, i’m guessing that is the molten dominator champion that we are told in third party interviews.

giver’s weapons are sheetty never use them, like tentonhammr said, use vipers. Once you hit 100% condi duration with food, gear, runes/sigils for your top damaging conditions, you can start prioritizing on condition damage. If you can’t even get remotely close to 100% then personally i find it useless and just use w/e u have. Min max your gear or don’t bother at all are your 2 choices.

Idk if you are asking gear for pve or wvw….if its PVE then you can try to copy what i have been using since day 3 of HoT expansion…

Full ascended vipers armor, ascended vipers dual pistol, ascended vipers backpiece and amulet…..sinister earrings and rings….Rune of the berserker, sigil of malice(10% condi dur.), and sigil of w/e u want(i’ve used bursting every since and never replaced it)….This will get you to 71.**% bleeding and burning duration……

If you use Koi Cakes/Rare Veggi Pizza(+20% Condi dur.) and Toxic focusing Crystal(10%)….you get 100% bleeding and burning duration which is your highest condi damage dealers. Been using this forever, and never looked back….

Or if your gearing up for wvw you can still use this build(glassy but hurts alot) or just go full tank dire gear…

i have mentioned countless times in this thread that i play all 9 classes, I may have not raided since december since i’ve been busy playing other games(Legion atm), and been busy doing other game modes when i do login, but the whole reason i made this thread to begin with is to bring attention to engineers and thiefs, by giving them a reason to be added into hardcore pve content.

I have full ascended gear for raiding on my viper engi, zerk ele, zerk rev, and zealots druid….i have no need to play neither a necro or a mesmer, but that is not the point of this post. If i do indeed wanted to start raiding again(eventually, when i get bored),i will find a group of people that i can agree with, and i am sure that i won’t have any problems, but i am speaking for other players who only play, or only has geared 1 class(engineer/thief), and have trouble looking for groups.

You are so against my idea of a condition dmg/duration party wide buff….why idk….its just a suggestion, i am not here to fight you about your opinions, you are entitled to say whatever you want, i am only here to bring attention(like many other threads in this engineer forum)that engineers(& thiefs) need to be improved for raids and other hardcore group pve content. All i ask is 1 small party wide buff…

I am very capable of playing my engineer, a class that i have played as a main for 4 years, and experimented with all the possible builds in pve,pvp,wvw…..i have no problems running 4 kits, honestly i enjoy it(playing other mmos with 3x more skilbars than gw1/gw2…i am very used to it), the only small request i ask(which is not a useless discussion – though you won’t agree), is to have that 1 small buff unique to the class. I never said it will be all that the engi need to be UBER META or top tier, i just wanted 1 small buff, just to get a fair nod. Hoping this would help alleviate some of the problems that engi/thief-only players have been having since raids came out. Lets fix problems 1 at a time.

TL’DR: i never meant to fix all engineer problems, so please stop fighting me about it, i just find it silly. Its been 2 weeks since i posted this, i check it everytime i got free time from work, and reading posts where people point out tiny details gets really tiring.

I barely play the game unless theres new content, then i play that for 3 days and stop playing after cuz it gets boring quick. Just play other games, thats how i keep having fun. Dont force yourself to login if its hard. Although i do lurk around here and in reddit alot during work, like now, lol.
