i understand that the devs have reasons, it would just be nice if a dev can clear it up. I’m sure Anet knows who voiced Hablion and know more about Hablion’s lore than any of us, its just sad that something as simple as this was not done right. It maybe minor, and most players may not notice it, but it would have been nice to have consistency.

So anyone who has played Guild Wars (1) knows and remembers Justiciar Hablion, if i remember correctly, Steve Blum aka Rytlock voiced Hablion back then, which was why Hablion was a cool enemy with attitude. So my question is, since Steve Blum still voices Rytlock in GW2, why was Justiciar Hablion’s voice actor been changed, its not like he has alot of lines to say, it was just nice to bring him back only now hes not the same…FeelsBadMan…..sigh….some of us remember the days of GW1 and can only reminisce.

I can accept that i’ll never have a legendary weapon on that basis….

stopped reading after this…..i know countless people who have 0 on any crafting and have numerous legendary weapons using non legit ways…sure you don’t want to buy from TP, then go the illegal way, buy from some gold seller, problem solved.

Your happy, hes happy he can feed his 15+ children.

note that i hate those kind of people(buyers) but thats there business.

Do people actually play dungeons anymore?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: J envy.5270

J envy.5270

So…we know that dungeon rewards have been changed by Mo shortly after colin left, but compared to dungeon rewards Pre-HoT, i did some math and rewards are crap compared to what it was.

I know that there are raids, and fractals, and apparently people can make money off elsewhere, but i do remember the fun days where lfg was bustling with dungeon trains because it was profitable and fulfilling but not spammable, unlike the free gold you get from semi afking in SW.

Every now and then i do check the lfg in dungeons and its mostly empty, so i really just wanted to know if people actually still do them. Gone are the days were people ask for meta builds, ascended/exotic geared people for fast dungeon runs when there is barely anyone who actually do them.

TL’DR…do people run dungeons anymore? if so, do you think the change the Mo did about dungeon rewards feel sufficient? cuz i dont think it is…comments…

Solo Queuing= Losing Streaks

in PvP

Posted by: J envy.5270

J envy.5270

So I came to the conclusions that this season you absolutley have to HAVE TO get an organized group in order to win any matches.

definitely NOT true. i got to legendary rank a week to 2 ago, from 99% solo queue with about 3 out 5 games won ratio.

Yes as a solo queue it really is annoying to go against the same duo or 3 man queue for 2-4 games in a row, sometimes i go against 5 man queues and my whole team is solo queuers but we still win, obviously 2-3 man queue with teamspeak has significant advantages against us solo queuers, but it also comes down to skill and class composition.

Going ele thinking youd win is wrong,
1) look at other teams comp,
2) look at your own teams comp,
3) what map is it? and make adjustments on what class to use.

Yes, all classes are decent, some are stronger than others, but being experienced to all classes you will play is a must.

In the end, i have cried to anet since the removal of solo q a year ago and it has gone to deaf ears so i stopped caring, if you still get kittened about the matchups, just play a different game mode, or play another game(fallout 4 lel), once your calm, come back and play, getting kittened while pvping won’t get you anywhere.

another solo q request

in PvP

Posted by: J envy.5270

J envy.5270

hey anet gm’s, peeps….i know its been said hundreds of times….

well since ranked q is out and everyone is put to the same queue for unranked, i was thinking maybe we have enough population to have a solo q back. I know i am not the best pvper, but i know i am decent enough to get to legendary as a solo queuer both seasons.

not everyone has pvp friends, most my friends quit the game a long time ago, yes i know anyone can just lfg in map chat, but its not for me, and it always bothered me why solo queue was taken out in the first place.

a lot of time, when fights are so 1 sided, 3 out of 4 times its a atleast a semi-premade, i love how anet remove the ability to tell that(sarcastically), but honestly, alot of times i dont even QQ anymore, after almost 4k games(i know its not a whole lot), i just give up on 1 sided matches, sit back, alt tab and check the internet or watch tv. It’s not worth getting high blood pressure for being passionate to a game only to be not taken seriously by the game developers.

TL’DR: giving up early on lop sided matches isn’t really my thing, but if it was a solo q match and everyone is on equal ground, i would take pvp way more seriously outside of pvp leagues.

capture the flag type pvp

in PvP

Posted by: J envy.5270

J envy.5270

anyone tried playing snowball mayhem? its fun, matches are fast, map is big, you can’t use cheese builds, and its big enough to have 8v8(or 10v10 don’t remember). The capture the flag game type is fun, reminds me of battlegrounds in wow during its prime (vanilla, BC,wotlk). Snowball has its issues but mostly its fun to play.

Whenever i get annoyed of soloqueuing in ranked pvp(you all know why), since i dont have alot of friends who pvp when im on. i stop queuing and enjoy a few matches of snowball mayhem. its fair and every class has strengths and weaknesses, sometimes people zerg up against the other team, but that does not always guarantee a win.

The game mode is pretty competitive, fun and refreshing, sadly it only comes out every wintersday. I hope that we would get a capture the flag type pvp mode like this(hopefully new, i hate reused maps)sometime in the future, since stronghold has not panned out(dismissed/forgotten) like Anet expected.

TL’DR: capture the flag pvp mode with balanced prefixed classes like snowball mayhem is fun, takes our my frustrations of soloq ranked pvp.

It's been less than 3 months and...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

J envy.5270

Okay,

So I think i’m officially ‘tired’ of the pvE game structure now. I noticed it about 3 days ago when I logged in and just found myself running between towns feeling extremely bored with the constant missions and aimless mob attacks to get points.

I have a level 62 mesmer. I’m no longer interested in levelling her up. I also have three low-level characters, a human revenant a norn warrior and norn ranger, but I won’t even bother with those either… I was interested in exploring the different lores of the races. It seemed like fun at first. But it’s just the same endless crap. And after buying a whole set of new armour for my mesmer I realized I don’t have the interest or patience to spend that much time in the store doing it again.

Also, one thing that got to me: I wanted to test out the crafting element of the game, so I bought enough ingredients and made half a greatsword. then I returned with more ingredients to make the rest as I ran out – only to find out that the crafting station was closed because of some stupid ‘failed experiment’ which had green creatures running around. If that’s an excuse to add diversity to the game, then my face is blank. REALLY?? So I finished the sword the following day when the ridiculous mission was over and crafted my sword!

It just seems pointless. I remember feeling this way with gw1 – the only difference was that that didn’t happen until about a year later. And from that point forward I only logged in to have fun in Random Arenas.

I think the core of the pve is still the same as the original game and that’s probably why I’m completely bored of the game now, and have no feel to play it, which is a shame.

My verdict:

They need to make this game more interesting and take away the demoralising mission/mob grinding as a pve mainstay. They suck.

Just my opinion. It’s what killed the fun for me, after what is just a few weeks.

I might log in occasionally to run around in WvW.

Any thoughts?

I feel sad for you, you have only played the game for 3 months, your highest character is only lvl 62 and your bored of the game. I feel sad for you because you barely have reached the cusp of what this game has to offer,

From what i see your mostly a pve guy, well in pve you get dungeons(old but you can still do them), fractals, raids, open world bosses, new HoT maps, theres so much to do in that alone, which i am almost sure you have not tried all.

May it be your lack of motivation to find a guild that will not spoon feed you everything, but rather help you to help yourself get better in the game, or rather your choice of playing alone. I myself am a member of a few guilds, but a lot of time i like playing alone, being in coms with 50+ ppl isnt always fun, but its there if i ever need it.

I have played this game since it launched, i also played gw1 from 2005-2011. I’ve never quit gw2 at any point sometimes i play 10-12 hrs a day when new things come, like expansion, new living story, pvp changes, and so forth; other times i login do my daily and log off. I do what i feel like doing, but i still have yet to say that i am bored of this game.

I read what other people said in this post, and honestly i agree that you should go find another game, we cannot force you to like a game, play what you want to play, maybe someday you’ll look back into this game and think of playing it again, but until you change your perspective about this game, it won’t work for you, it really is sad that you barely seen what this game is made off. The reason i never got bored of this game is because i always find new things to keep me enjoying this game, like when i tired of 1 class, i play another class until i have all 9 classes max leveled, after that i went wvw for months, then i went pvp for months, tried out the raids, fractals, finished collections and so forth.

I constantly look for new things to do, and until i have reached a point where i have done everything this game has to offer, only then will i say i am done and i am bored, which is not anytime soon, as long as the game keeps giving me new things to do with updates like new living story and so forth.

You forgot Aetherbalde Retreat dungeon. I never understood why the removed those two (the other is the molten one) from the world map, shortened and cut them in peaces and crammed it into fractals. Also there is a new dungeon for Twilight Arbor called Aetherpath which never was really popular be cause the filled it with gimmicky gameplay and was too hard to be run for normal PUGs.

Other than that:
Past: good first impression, fun leveling for the first time. Rather boring after it, no challenging content, only thing to do was making a legendary.

Present: much better, finally some hard daunting content, I love the feel that I just can’t faceroll something with randoms.

Future: With more raids and maps added there will be a rather good future. Population seams healthy and so their gem shop/income.

On a sidenote: the monetisation is taking overhand sometimes, keep in mind to not upset your consumers.

i actually have info about aetherblade dungeon and twilight aetherpath on the first post, you probably just missed it.

As far as past goes, i love this game too much that i bring this post up to hopefully get the ear of a dev or two, there are more things to do in this game than making a legendary, although this post is about pve, i actually do pvp and wvw(roaming and zerging)alot, i probably would have quit a long time ago if i did not make those changes in my game, oh and i play 9 classes, for the same reasons.

I do hope that raids keep coming and keep us preoccupied, but going back to my original post, i really hope Anet does something to make dungeons worth playing again, one way or another.

PVE – past,present,future…

Past : best MMO experience I had since WoW vanilla.

Present : I need to schedule my time in order to complete meta , I depend on other 50 to 100 players in order to succeed a meta ……quite mediocre experience

Future : Black Desert online ? :P

i agree with past and present; as for future, i’ve known about black desert since 2014, been waiting for it myself, the only thing i probably won’t like about it is the grind, korean mmos have that bad stigma, and based from NA players trying out black desert either from the japanese or russian or korean servers, most of them said the grind is real; but nonetheless, i’d probably still get the game. I don’t know if it will take over gw2 for me though, but its probably the only mmo i’ve been really excited and looking forward to for the past year.

Thanks for putting all these numbers together. I’ve been meaning to do this, mostly for a comparison between GW2 release and HoT. Something significant to note is that some of the temporary content also dropped tickets or other means of getting exclusive skins and minis, no gem store required.

I’ve been meaning to do this as well for a few weeks now after HoT came out, but had a lot of free time so i decided to put up a quick info type facts that people can bookmark for future use.

On the topic about exclusive items, some/ or alot of those items can still be acquired from the laurel vendor, just did not want to add that in the initial post, as i was trying to aim for more hard content. Sadly the gem store pops out outfits every 2 weeks, that there will come a time where there are way more gem store outfits in the game than actual unique armor sets that can be acquired through tokens/currencies.
I was never fond of outfits, you can’t mix n match and can’t feel original, i only use them to hide my ugly starting armor when i level new alts or when i share ascended armor through different characters.

(continue’d ~ post #3)

My suggestion on fixing this mess is to add some sort of reward like t5/t6 materials exclusive to specific dungeons(each path reward different mats which obviously can only be rewarded once daily, example: Cof p1 will reward 2 molten lodestones, p2 will reward 10 bolts of linen, and so forth). Players can then either sell this materials in the Trading Post to lower the prices of materials that have become over-priced due to people hoarding/buying low, selling high, or solely due to high demand and lack of supply, or just keep them for future use.

The changes to map rewards are the start of this, but you can apply the same style of rewards to balance out and lower prices of more crafting materials, whether common, fine, rare or ascended crafting materials, gemstones and jewels, cooking materials, festive materials, you can fix and balance the prices of all this materials, by adding this type of bonus reward into dungeon rewards and other old content.

This change will not only revitalized the number of people playing your dungeons, you also have more ways to balance items in the Trading Post, which promotes players to be more active in playing the game, than playing the Trading Post(as this is also one of the problems that has caused gold inflation, richest people in the game don’t even play your game the the fullest, all they need to do is play the Trading Post and profit, which as you know, contributes to gold selling as well, not saying all TP pro’s are, because that is definitely not true, but a number of people have been known to use this method)~that is like hitting two birds, with one stone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My hopes for the future….
All in all, the PVE that is now feels to constrained, people are not forced to do just specific parts of the game, but nonetheless you are pushed to doing only a specific content as some are rewarding and others are not(most people/veterans would not touch content that are unrewarding). Most people will do things that will reward them, it is what drives people to play a specific type of content over and over again, other than playing new content/challenging content. Like myself and many other players, I’m sure the Dev’s don’t wan’t to put the hours that they put into making content for the game in the past just wasted because the content they made were only temporary or are not rewarding. This can only be fixed by bringing back all this content into the game and making them available and rewarding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for reading this far.

If you have other ideas of fixing this type of content rewards other than the one i mentioned, please share, as i am curious and would really like to know.

TL’DR: I hope there comes a time when most/if not all content in this game’s both past and present, becomes rewarding one way or another; more varieties in the game, by bringing back old temporary content and dead content(dungeons) and making them rewarding (again). It doesn’t have to be liquid rewards, it can be rewards that may help stabilize the economy like crafting material rewards. This will also widen the variety of rewarding playable content in the game.

(continue’d ~ post #2)

LONG TEXT INCOMING!!!

Now with all that said, Arena Net has made tons of content that made us play thousand and thousands of hours into this game just on PVE alone, with the addition of raids and more raids in the future there would have been way to much content in the game to keep us playing for many years to come. Sadly, one thing that is really sad, is that alot of content that Anet has made, are/were temporary and were exclusive only during its release and up to a month after, before the next content patch removes it and adds a another temporary content.

I know its been said before, people want Living World Season 1 back to replayable, and due to technical difficulties, its not as easy to put back into the game, but imagine, all that content that i have mentioned above, if all that content are accessible whenever you want to do them, and be rewarded one way or another for doing them, then even veterans like myself would have too many things on our plate that we would be so preoccupied and overwhelmed that we would never run out of things to do on PVE alone.

Bringing back some/if not all of this temporary content and making them available to play again would greatly increase the variety of game modes in this game ~which players, both new and veterans alike will greatly enjoy, while not making new content(new Hot maps) dead, it will only give people way more ways to enjoy the game and reward them differently. Obviously with balance patches rewards can be fixed and be more in-tuned to what they should be and not exploited.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also want to talk about the subject, dungeon liquid reward nerfs. This topic is sad and really needs to be fixed. As alot of people know, Anet has moved on from dungeon content and put there resources into fractals and raids, which definitely choked a big part in the PVE community, this made dungeons from having bursting population into a deserted area of the game.
If liquid rewards are the sole purpose of this change, which means gold generated out of thin air and into the hands of players as they complete a dungeon path, has been the main reason for gold inflation in the game, then i would counter it by saying, that yes it was a great decision to nerf gold rewards, but leaving the dungeon so unappetizing the way it is now, only leaves a vacuum that cannot be filled by fractals(less maps, less unique encounters, less variety, less unique challenges) or raids(weekly gated rewards) alone.
I suggest that if your intention is to fix the gold inflation problem, then find a way, one way or the other to reward players that would bring them back to loving and playing your dungeons. Dungeons that you have worked for years, time that you the Dev’s put into this are just being wasted right now as majority of the dungeon running population have moved to different parts of the game, but are left missing and uncontent with the said changes.
(Post #1)
IF YOU HAVE DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ, basically post #1 is facts, post #2 & 3 are my thoughts about the old temporary updates, and dungeon reward nerfs, and my ideal solutions to the problem.
Quick facts, about PVE ~ both past and present:
Originally when GW2 came out in August 2012 it came out with 32 different maps:
6 Ascalon maps, 1 Ascalon city (Black Citadel)
6 Shiverpeak maps, 1 Shiverpeak city (Hoelbrak)
5 Krytan maps, 2 Krytan cities (Divinity’s Reach & Lion’s Arch), Claw Island(personal
story exclusive map)
5 Maguuma maps, 2 Maguuma cities (Rata Sum & The Grove)
3 Orr maps
With Living World Season 1 we got:
1 new Krytan map(Southsun Cove)
1 non-permanent Deldrimor Front map (Labyrinthine Cliffs)
additions of Cragstead and North Nolan Hatchery, Crown Pavilion, Aetherblade
Hideout(w/ the jumping puzzle), Scarlet’s Secret Room and Marionette’s Landing
to the world map.
1 non-permanent dungeon – Molten Base(became a fractal map, although shortened)
With Living World Season 2 we got:
2 new Maguuma Wastes maps(Dry Top & The Silverwastes)
and permanent(repeatable) 8 storyline acts
with Heart of Thorns expansion we got:
4 new Maguuma Wastes maps which have 3 different biomes/levels
2 Guild Hall maps
and again like Living World Season 2, NEW permanent (repeatable) story.
Also, so far 1 raid map(1st Wing) visible in the world map
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dungeons:
8 unique dungeons – that comes with 8 story dungeon paths, and 17 explorable
dungeon paths – total of 25 dungeon paths

Fractals:
50 levels pre-HoT(bumped to 100 levels with HoT) – 14 unique fractal map encouters

World Bosses:
29 world boss encouters all across the maps of Tyria before Heart of Thorns.

Map Wide Meta Events: (6 total)
2 maps from Living World Season 2, and 4 maps from Heart of Thorns expansion.

Activities: 6 total(4 on daily rotation), not counting Historical/recurring activities.
→ Crab Toss, Southsun Survival, Sanctum Sprinter, Keg Brawl (all of which are player against player type content), Belcher’s Bluff(drinking game vs npcs/player), and Costume Brawl.

Scavenger Hunts: The ones i know of are….Speedy Reader & Cleaning up the neighborhood(Ebonhawke), Diving Goggles (45 locations), Coin Collector (Dry Top), Lost Badges/Go for Gold (The Silverwastes), Mariner’s Plaque and Lion’s Arch Exterminator, A Study in Gold & No Masks Left Behind(Auric Basin).

Adventures:
15 new adventures have been introduced with the Heart of Thorns expansion.
→ 5 adventures in each of the HoT maps except Dragon’s Stand.

Jumping Puzzles: 48 total
44 Jumping Puzzles all across Tyria~PVE ( 2 of which are temporary and only comes
once a year~Winter Wonderland, Mad King’s Clock Tower).
4 WvW jumping puzzles ~ 3 from alpine borderlands(which were all the same
“copy-paste” on every borderland, but are now gone with the replacement of the the
NEW Desert Borderlands), and 1 from Obsidian Sanctum.

Personal Story:
Original – 49 chapters

Living World Season 1 – not counted by chapters, since its more about new but temporary content; but overall, in my opinion it has more playable content than both living world season 2 and Heart of Thorns combined. This has 25 storyline updates.

Living World Season 2 – 32 chapters

Heart of Thorns – 16 chapters

Guild Missions:
Guild Trek – 180 possible locations
Guild Puzzle – 3 unique puzzles
Guild Race – 7 different races
Guild Bounty – 18 possible targets
Guild Challenge – 6 unique challenges

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would add the fact that there have been Temporary updates in the game during the Living World Season 1 (some of which comes back once every year)that are not shown in the world map but has content comparable to the size of 1 map, such as:
1. Shadow of the Mad King(Haloween event) – that came out with the Mad King’s
Realm(mini dungeon), Mad King’s clocktower(jumping puzzle), Mad King’s
Labyrinth(map), Reaper’s Rumble(structured pvp-moba style map), and Lunatic
Inquisition(new pvp type mode). Not to mention a new area in the Black Citadel
that shows the tomb of the Bloody Prince.
2. Wintersday – that came out with Tixx Infinirarium(mini dungeon), Winter
Wonderland(jumping puzzle), Bell Choir & Toypocalypse(group activites), and
Snowball Mayhem(new pvp type mode).
3. Super Adventure Box, a new world, dungeon type mixed together with jumping
puzzle. Huge content especially with Season 2 SAB addition.
4.Cutthroat Politics/Festival of the Four Winds – Candidate Trials(challenge mission),
Southsun Survival & Aspect Arena(both of which are new pvp type modes)
5. Tower of Nightmares(group content/dungeon/seen in the world map), first signs
of raid type content in my opinion, with additions of champions both inside the
tower and all over the map of Kessex Hills.
6. Escape from/Battle for Lion’s Arch – new map wide events in Lion’s Arch with
group/raid type content from Scarlet’s 3 Assault Knights, and Scarlet’s Prime
Hologram. Moa Racing(activity) was removed with Escape from Lion’s Arch patch.
7. Origins of Madness – Twisted Marionette(group content/raid type), Triple Trouble
Worm(new world boss), Map Invasions all across different maps in Tyria (meta wide
events)
8. Miscellaneous:
Dragon Bash – Dragon Ball(new pvp type mode)
Queen’s Jubilee – Beacons of Kryta(torch race), Crown Pavilion: Boss Blitz (group
event content), and Queen’s Gauntlet (1v1 arena w/ unique bosses)
Aetherblade Retreat (dungeon that became a fractal, although shortened)
Twilight Aetherpath permanently added to dungeons.
Dear anet: more lfg categories please! [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: J envy.5270
J envy.5270
So everyone knows, the LFG system in the game is getting ridiculous and needs a change.
First of all, there are 6 categories in the lfg system: Open World Content, Dungeons, Fractals, Personal Story, PVP, WVW. the last 3 categories are basically unused and a waste. People who need help or is lfg for personal story posts in open world content, people in pvp never check lfg to group up, typically they already know people to group up with in their friends list or ask in Hearts of the Mists. While no one really uses the wvw lfg not even in eotm, as i have check them countless times just to see if anyone really bothers to use them.
For Open world content, this has to be changed drastically, everything is just posted here, people doing dungeons, makes mistakes alot and post in lfg, people doing personal story, achievements, guild recruiting, dragon events in old tyria maps, dry top, silverwastes, new HOT maps, cof farms, hero point trains….and so forth, you get it, there are just WAY TOO MANY THINGS listed in there that it is hard to actually see which you need. LFG is no longer in beta as it was when it first came out, and it really needs to be changed so that whenever you first start a post in lfg, you should be asked where you want to post your lfg, unlike how it is now where it automatically puts you in open world content as it is now.
Dungeons and Fractals lfg both work fine, but now that RAIDS have been added, there DEFINITELY has to be a specific RAID category so it lessens the clutter in open world content. To add more to open world content, if infact the lfg post is worthy to be in open world content category, it should be further broken down to different subcategories, a certain subcategory for each new HOT Map as the meta for them floods the lfg like a swarm of locusts, as does the lfg for original new maps aka Dry Top and Silverwastes.
You can even say, that an lfg for guid recruitment, achievements, dragon events, and others should have there own category as well, but most importantly as i mentioned before, there should be a last check before anyone posts to put every lfg post in the right category/subcategory, and remove the ability to post in open world content category itself just like you cant post in the dungeon category, you have to go to each specific dungeon subcategory to post your lfg.
Ideas, to further elaborate this change would be great, i’m sure this isn’t the first post about the lfg overhaul, but this is my 2 cents to telling devs about how i feel it should be changed.
The Mordem Guard bosses appear again in Dragon’s Stand. Maybe they are like Teq hoards for the meta event there?
BabyRage….oh gawd plz no more RNG weapon drops….masteries and specializations are i DONT consider as a grind, but RNG weapon and armor unique drops from Teq and TTWurm are legit grind, either you do them cuz you cant find anything better to do, or your doing them as part of your world boss events tour, either way RNG is so 2012, i hope its not.
So i was checking on the wardrobe on the day 2 of the expansion to see how new skins that came out with the expansion look like, and i saw that there are 4-5 NEW mordrem weapon skins(not the ones that came out months ago), and some of them are pretty good looking. If you type Mordrem on the search bar in the wardrobe for weapon skins, you will see 2 results on one weapon type, one is the old mordrem skin set and some are new to HoT. So does anyone have any idea how to get them, do you get a recipe to craft them? or do you finish a collection? or is it a new black lion skin? Is it Mastery locked? any info would be nice.
Long story short, i’ve been playing since game was released, never had this problem. Usually its either my computer or my connection, but now the ping has been making this game unplayable, lose in pvp, playing a powerpoint presentation when i do Teq, wvw…..lagfest. Even a dungeon run with 5 people lags me, can’t play skillfully since can’t read the enemies movements until most of the time. Basically login to do the easiest 3 dailys then log out, that’s the normal now for me.
I had Customer Support when this issue started, did some tests, emailed back n forth, but it was NOT helpful, in the end i was told to contact my ISP, when my internet has no problems, surfing the net and playing other online games are fine. I have verizon fios and i play in east coast, NA. Can any dev give me a timetable to when this will be fixed, i was irritated at first, now im just sad. I’ve read a lot of peoples posts here in the forums the last couple of days so i know i have not been the only one.
i did go through customer support a few days ago, me and a few gm’s emailed back and forth, but the problem wasn’t resolved, they told me to contact my isp about it, which it wasn’t as only gw2 is having this problems, none of my other online games are having it, and im surfing the web fast as well, east coast here and this has been going on for a week for me and its not fun to play, you lose pvp and you lag so much that doing teq and other world bosses is unbearable, can’t even enjoy the beta 3 with it cuz of the lag.
Is the trait Courageous Return bugged?
in Guardian
Posted by: J envy.5270
J envy.5270
“Courageous Return:
Virtue of Courage is recharged when you revive an ally or when you rally.”~ 30sec cd
basically the topic, i was testing this out as i was playing a few unranked games today, and i noticed that in about 10 times that i have watched my virtue of courage being on cooldown as i was rezzing a downed ally, this trait NEVER recharged my virtue of courage, i went back to the mists after the match went suicide against Chieftain boss and asked a kind stranger to rez me after i downed, made sure to use my virtue of courage before i downed, and as after he rezzed me i noticed that my virtue of courage did NOT recharge as well.
on a side note:
1) Stalwart Defender reduces cd of shield skills but it does NOT add the 180 toughness in PVP, and it does not affect the reduction of the cd of Shield of Absorption on the Protective Reviver trait.
2)I’m not sure if this is intentional but Communal Defenses trait DOES NOT affect the guardian when he blocks attacks, been wondering about this trait for weeks but i just remembered and brought it up. This could be intentional but a little note saying this trait does not affect you would have been nice.
Abjured dominates EU in WTS gratz bois!!!!
in PvP
Posted by: J envy.5270
J envy.5270
Thanks to anyone who has kind words The Abjured and I really appreciate it.
As most of you saw we were super hyped after we beat TCG. We scrimmed them quite a few times lately and almost never won more than we lost. Especially about 2 days before we left I think we actually went something like 0-8 in one scrim against them which wasn’t encouraging to say the least. There were some close ones but 0 wins during a scrim session is still 0 wins.
Be it the difference in lag from always scrimming on EU servers and then going to LAN, or TCGs lack of lan experience causing nerves or something, or us just playing especially well, or a combination of this and more things, we were able to come out with that win.
And I really have to thank TCG because our scrims against them helped us a ton and taught us a new way to rotate which everyone in this thread and others is noticing via toker fanboy/girling which I’ll join that club anyday. Anyways, in the past we always leave our dps middle and me and nos handle outers nodes. During WTS we started putting a tank middle/whatever node is being fought on and immediately give toker the freedom to rotate anywhere. Heck we’d often just put 1 tanky person on node to stall/die/suicide (hello plague form that thing is awesome) and the rest of us would immediately rotate away. Which was a beautiful thing to do against Tages ridiculously strong bunker guard which we would avoid fighting at all costs. We learned if Tage is in a fight we’d lose that fight 100% so we’d just let someone die/troll the node and everyone else rotate out immediately. Essentially delay tactics which TCG taught us is extremely valuable and we sort of mirrored it. Anyways, I do not think this new way of rotating is the end all be all. There are reasons we rotated the way we did before it’s just that we needed to adapt to how EU plays. Although I will say it works especially well with a necro. Necro has no mobility so if a fight looks sour we can just call for nos to die on node and the rest of us rotate and be useful. Nos can rez and +1 or fight a 1v1 at home, both of which is something Necro is extremely proficient at.
Anyways I sort of went on a tangent here. Back to the main story line. So I actually heard ROM say this before the tournament and I thought the exact same thing I just didn’t discuss it with him/others until after the tournament but TCG, ORNG, and us had a sort of rock paper scissor thing going on. TCG beats us, We beat ORNG, and ORNG beats TCG. This was all based on comp vs comp knowledge and scrims vs TCG. Which ORNG heard about our scrims against TCG somehow so that’s why they had the same suspicions we did about the rock paper scissor thing cause they knew we weren’t doing so hot against TCG.
So after we beat TCG this is why we were so darn hyped. We had just beaten the rock to our scissor and had paper to fight in the grand finals. Albeit a very skilled paper that we had just lost a BO3 too. We were playing so well and we had gotten the rotating down to a T against TCG so my suspicions were we were going to ride this hype train into wins against ORNG which I had originally thought we should be beating. I just needed to confirm my suspicions. After our first win in the Grand Finals of the first Bo3 on forest those suspicions were confirmed. At this point I think we would have originally been completely exhausted knowing we had to do two whole Bo3s but the hype just kept us alive for 3 more games to take the finals. Me and Nos are typically extremely calm dudes and we both lost our voices. The hype was real.
I heard helseth broke his shoulder can you confirm this? lol. And yes watching the great rotations was so epic to watch, i would keep seeing nos dying again and again but i was thinking the whole time that it was part of the strategy as even when tcg or orng beat your guys in some team fights, abjured was still holding more points and was still winning the score. Some people who aren’t top level pvpers think that winning fights wins games but you guys prove it wrong as there are more ways to win by rotating efficiently well played and gratz.
Abjured dominates EU in WTS gratz bois!!!!
in PvP
J envy.5270
I liked alll the matches between Abjured, TCG, and Orng as in all of them where extremely competitive. I’m no great PVP player, but i do pvp because i enjoy competition and love the great mechanics that gw2 brings, to add to this, i see a lot of people hating on double cele ele on The Abjured, i’m not trying to defend on them but imo i think they won not because of what classes they brought but on how great they played them and how well they used there strategies against other teams.
Alot of us watch the ESL matches weekly, it’s not like The Abjured pulled of a roster change or mastered different classes. From what i remember when watching WTS 2 they also brought the same class lineup with 2 eles, and guess what they lost, but they won WTS 3 just today, It’s not the class combo thats op but the people behind that computer who play them so well that makes it look like it. But none of that matters in TOP PVP games, I won’t know, you won’t know either because most of us has never been there because Abjured, TCG, and Orng have been the best consistently for quite some time.
These are all great players, they know coming in what the other teams probably gonna be playing, each of this teams had there own strengths and weaknesses, all 3 tems practiced alot and it was obvious on how good they play there classes. Abjured wasn’t the favorite coming in to this at all as people say that Abjured don’t have competition in NA so they don’t get the competition that TCG and Orng has, but none of that matters during the tournament.
In the end what matters is who brings there A game during the tournament. Orng brought it in WTS 2, and Abjured brought it in WTS 3, thats all there is to it, all the complaining of 2 cele eles are op or burning is op or w/e does not matter, This are great players they about all this. Abjured just played really well today after they lost 1st set against Orng, they turned the tables and played amazingly, you gotta give it to them, love or hate them, the recent patch worked better in there favor this time, just as it did not work on theirs in WTS 2 even when using the same classes( but no one was complaining of 2 cele ele then)….
I’m from NA, i watch mostly all top pvp twitch streamers and ESL, but you can’t blame me for wanting Abjured to win, i know this folks better than the EU teams since i’ve played with and against members of the Abjured in pvp daily. Anyway gratz abjured it, even with Nos getting stomped left n right, and people complaining and hating that 2 cele eles op, you guys sticked through it from last WTS and won it back with a similar lineup but had better strategies and outplayed this great EU teams.
Are warrior balanced?
in Warrior
Posted by: J envy.5270
J envy.5270
Short Answer: Warrior is in a good spot. Balanced? maybe. who knows maybe OP even.
Long Answer: Don’t constrain yourself to only playing one class, pro or casual, you should take some time to play other classes as it will only make you a better player overall. You learn what skills they use, what skills hurts, what skills to avoid, and how to fight them, and how to play them in PVP, PVE, and WVW, because they all have different builds.
In PvP if you play around with your build, warrior has a good survivability even with zerkers amulet, the meta atm is not established yet since patch just hit a week or 2 ago, but mostly its been burst or be bursted for any class, tanking and hybrid builds are not strong atm, so you just need to learn to cope with it cuz every class is on the same page, though some classes are in much better shape than others(especially mesmers…)
And learn to use Rampage, its stong if you know when to use it, it sucks if u don’t, more practice will get you there.
In PVE, people do care, if your not running EA/PS then your doing it wrong(unless more than 1 warrior in party), if your the only warrior and your not bringing both banner of discipline and banner of strength your doing it wrong as well. Other classes just do way more dps than warrior before and after patch so no change in the meta.
In WvW, since stability patch hit, warriors arent the only class that have been hurting, any frontline has been QQing since stability patch, warriors and guardians alike. But this is a good change as before people are so picky and only want warrors guards ele necros in there wvw parties now, this has significantly changes, greater variety in classes used in wvw, which is better for the game. But people will QQ as they have been used to certain type of playstyle and will not adapt or atleast accept that they have to in order to play well(laziness/stuborness).
Simply put, warrior is not boring and pointless, all you have to do is find the right build/s that fit your playstyle, if it doesn’t then play a different class, if you don’t want that then learn to cope and play better by practicing. Ive been playing gw1 since 05, anet makes this big game changes once or twice a year even in gw1, all you need is to learn the changes, cope with it, find a new build to play with, if not play a different class and move on, do this and you’ll do way better even as a casual gamer.
Queuing for a Borderland MegaServer? G / B?
in WvW
Posted by: J envy.5270
J envy.5270
So the complaint about dead wvw servers has been going on since day 1. The only thing that has been done about it people being forced to leave there server of origin to go to a more populated server like t1 or t2, and that has been the case ever since.
EOTM came out with megaservers which makes a slight answer to dead wvw servers problem having no fights or any sort of player vs player contact whatsoever, but that quickly turned into a karma train.
So, how about having Alpine Borderlands, Eternal Battlegrounds, and the NEW Desert Borderlands in megaservers….Obviously i don’t want the megaserver to be my only choice, but i want to have a choice if my servers wvw is dead or on sleeping hours. Nowadays, even T1 servers have hours with no commanders on any of the 4 maps.
So i thought what if we have a the same old choice to queue on any of the 4 borderland maps, then beside it we can queue for a borderland megaserver map so just in case your server is dead in wvw or your server has no tag at specific times of the day, you can still find action or atleast have a chance to look for it, in a megaserver map, which will work like EOTM in that BLUE,GREEN,RED….but hopefully not karma train.
TL’DR: read the topic(question) and the last paragraph(possible solution)…
Revenant was good at first sight but actually playing it outside of the Verdant Brink, i found way too many bads about it that unless somethign drastic changes comes with the other legendaries that haven’t come out yet or the specialization, i might not even make a revenant when HoT comes out, since it felt so clunky and 2nd rate.
I refuse to buy an expansion pack without more character slots. Playing for almost 6 months I already maxed them and I need more to play Revenant. I’m not gonna put out €
75 to get another slot.
The blog post states “For all players who registered the core Guild Wars 2® game prior to January 23, 2015 and who upgrade their account by prepurchasing and registering any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.”
I started playing January 25, 2015 and my friend a few weeks later.
Thanks for clarifying that we wont be buying this expansion until it goes on sale.
Its sad that someone who only recently started playing this game is already decided that since he cannot be refunded he wont buy the expansion. Lol, ive been playing GW1 since 05, i’ve never been there spokesperson, in fact ive hated a lot of things they did in the past, but well i’m still here, played gw2 since first beta, still here.
I’ve done pretty much all the content this game allows, name it i did it, and will continue to play this game when expansion comes out, even before the extra character slot that anet is giving away to prepurchase holders, i was decided to play the expansion because hands down gw2 is the most bang for your buck when it comes to mmo’s.
Buy to play, no monthly subs, one time purchase and over 7k hours played(i dont afk i log off when i do), i could never name any other game that had me spend this many hours for a one time purchase. So if your gonna try to make a scene that your not buying the expansion because you weren’t refunded then thats your decision, but you won’t change other peoples minds in here. I wouldn’t even be surprised that you will end up buying it sometime in the future, alot of this kind of posts are only trying to get attention but in the end they end up playing the game since its still the best deal in the mmo scene.
Gudlck, i’m just putting my 2cents here, as a REAL gw2 vet, still here through the ups and downs, not someone who just bandwagons on hype.
Surely there is more skill when you solo a champ where the champ can 1 hit or 2 hit KO you, but you get to kill him instead, and fast, like 5-10mins, not tanking there for an hour.
Thats a terrible excuse imo, your basically saying just deal with it when they should come up with a system that works and stick to it, then they can do fun changes like changing the world while we get settled into our builds.
Constantly changing the trait system is not fun at all, its like basically saying don’t bother getting comfortable with your character because its always going to be broken and never fixed <_<
I love it when they do major changes like this. Stagnation kills the game for me, and these changes are a great way to make it feel fresh again.
Yes! someone that agrees with me, apparently some people like playing the same build for 2 yrs…..as much as i enjoy this game, i take some time off when i get bored, and changes like this brings me back to the game.
