No, it think what he actually meant is that signet d/d is a one trick pony and that you were unfortunate and fell to it’s single trick.
And that you usually have enough time to react – I have and I’m a thief magnet because I’m a vanilla D/D thief.
You guys get that everything that is in the traits also influences PvP and WvW, right? Anet just failed with their attempt to make VS baseline and everybody thought it would be so OP that they rather gave thief a gigantic nerf on top of that (1 second stealth attack cooldown) so the profession is now as useless as never before.
I get your points, but clearly anet doesn’t know what to do with thief but wants them in raids – that’s why I suggested a buff that’s only useable by thieves in only a raid. You can actually make this for every class if needed.
I thought you fixed this recently? It’s worse than ever. Not only in wvw but also PvE. An enemy I just downed in wvw kept running until he was out of sight while the red downed icon was next to my feet. As soon as he was out of reach I hadn’t had him in target anymore – couldn’t see how far his downed health was and well, was killed by a passerby.
This is a pretty cool idea, although it would probably be broken with the new grandmaster trait. If it replaced cloak in shadow (possibly even keeping that name) in the grandmaster slot and the blind on stealth was moved to replace shadow protector, I imagine that would make a lot of people extremely happy.

First of all I’m not ON GH, I’m LINKED WITH GH playing wvw. If I would be ON GH, that would mean I used gems to transfer off Vabbi to you guys. If that was the case, I would use those GEMS to bandwagon to whatever server that is in t1 just like you suggested above!
Secondly, It’s not my first day ON GH (To use your words) but I have been on that server for atleast a year. Playing actively or not, it was my “home” server back then. I remember MM spamming LA, claiming to be the biggest guild of GH, and even that you guys used mumble. Some dude even went: OMG Cryo …. when I joked it about last night in EB mapchat.
I never claimed t1 servers to be more friendly than what t6? T9 servers were more friendly to be honest (apart from WSR, they are kitten :p ). Vabbi only seemed to have 2 rotten apples, 1 left for gandara and the other 1 went mia.
World linking could have been great but the way it was handled, we might have been better off with a full merge the first time we got linked.
P.S. I’m not even sure what you keep adding ETA’s and changing your posts but if you want to convience me how GH changed after I left, feel free to contact me ingame.

I add ETAs because it’s convenient to me. Anyway: I don’t want to convince you, my server is just not how it has been back in the day and I’m kind of sick of the entitlement and whining of the satelite servers. And you are a posterboy for that – that’s why I’m going full force against your posts.

Not too bad, actually – although I only land a full chain in a +1 situation anyway and I use each and everybody of my server as my pets (yes, i started as a ranger main – can’t get rid of that) = I don’t really need an extra freecard in these situations – but the idea is interesting.
Still cant believe it that you linked us, vabbi, to Gunnar’s hold.
Our linked server feels even worse than before the linking when we were stuck in t9. Only good thing about t9 was that we had our name showing up. As we didn’t really had a community, I cant play that card.
It’s sad to see that you didn’t close the linked servers, making vabbi a cheap t1 bandwagoner server. First with being linked to Deso and after that to FSP. But now that we are stuck to a bottom server, those bandwagoners are abandoning the sinking ship.
As much as I enjoyed my stay with FSP (not so much with deso) I tend to think that we will be linked with Deso again in 2 months and the cycle will repeat itself!
You clearly deserved better than stinky Gunnar’s Hold. How dare they linking you with a bottom server while you truly belong into T1 (that’s why your server was that weak that it needed to be linked) – well alright then. Buy some gems and transfer up – problem solved.
ETA: And jfyi: The bandwagoners didn’t abandon you, they abandoned stinky GH. It’s rather easy to get another free account, a bot program to level your chars to 60 and hop into wvw. Those who want to bandwagon already have several free accounts.

You’re right – it is out of control.
but we had no real balance since before June (would’ve been neccessary after June 23th 2015).
They didn’t nerf bunker what did happen was that the pvp team tried to make combat more balanced but they can only change amulets and runes, I think. They have no access to change the traits.
The thief who got you was a signet thief – there’s not much you can do about it, but even I don’t run full glass usually.
ETA: What is happening right now is that a good percentage of players know that we need balance, the pvp team knows, but the balance team sleeps and rather destroys the game further by buffing PvE players.

The quartermaster might be able to kill 5 but not a blob and as the “owner” blob you’d still have to watch the keep full of corpses for at least 5 mins.
ETA: Just tried it – I usually never use these thingys – you’re able to use all your skills immediately – the penalty doesn’t really matter – a bit of aegis here and there, some stealth and you’re good to go.

Running a full zerker ele has got its difficulties.
I can make you screenshot with equally high or higher damage from all other classes.
Or they could scrap linking on EU and permanently merge the servers with a low population.

Maybe we really should have some notification in game. At reset (when the person first logs in after reset): “Hey Jana from Gunnar’s Hold, welcome your new guests from Vabbi”. And “Hey XY from Vabbi, welcome to your stay at Gunnar’s Hold.”
Or a bit more pragmatic a notification in the WvW panel: “Your server xy is currently linked with server yz”
Go to your character log in screen and see what’s last line in the box bottom left. that’s the server you’re on.

Only one of the server’s names is clearly displayed in the WvW panel, that’s why you think you belong to the server your server was last linked to.
So VS being made baseline didn’t help at all? Who would’ve thought that.
Seriously, anet, can we please have the June 26th patch made undone – you only lost another few hundred players and gained nothing.
ETA: Btw, I offer “group utility” by being a good player – back in the day that was sufficient. And according to those who asked me to join their raids it still is. You can have as many group utilities as you like – if you don’t know when and how to use them they’re pretty useless. PvE players are like that though, granted, they are convinced that they need group utility.
ETA²: Actually a solution would be to have one item for raids that can only be used by thieves and that you only get in and for raids.

If you go to the character select screen there’s a box to the left, with your character’s name, profession, guild, map completion, location and last the server you’re on.
i agree totally! anet cares a bit of pvp (so fast and easy took away so many amulets because “OP” – well maybe they should have done some calculation before removing them on "how will change if we put in this block while damaging skills – invulnerability skills – leaps that heals for 2k aoe 5 ppl in a berserk build – perma stealth – perma leaps – perma blocks etc)
That was the PvP team – the pvp team can change amulets but not traits, they can only suggest to the balance team what should be changed.
Which would then further buff D/P

I know, but you yourself said it’s only a problem for those who aren’t used to it.
My point is: I can’t even take it even if I want to because it’s locked with SE – and I’d be stupid to take SA but not SE.
There’s too little options for D/D in that line.
In the end what would work: Signet one shot build and rest other sets but D/D like I used to play it doesn’t stand a chance.

That is true but what do you do with D/D? Just leave it as it is because there’s other sets? Or try to roll back the game to a previous state in which the damage was more moderate?
ETA: Sorry, really tired and exhausted right now – I think about how to word this better.
I just think that there’s no way to buff D/D sufficiently. Some more stacks of blind for CiS? Would be interesting but might not help either.

D/D has got too little sustain for warrior/ warrior has too much damage for D/D thief.
I don’t think it’s useful to assume that every thief is a D/P DrD. That’s my point.
And: The damage in wvw went up with June 23th patch, vitality didn’t.
The stability changeand new trait systems are what changed the flow of the gameplay the most.
It used to be possible for a group of 15 to beat a group of 50.
Now only numbers matter since if you have more numbers you have more cc and smaller groups can’t rely on stability.Basically WvW used to be about skill, now it’s only about having the biggest blob.
Anet did exactly the opposite of what they said they would do in regards to blobbing.They even buffed boon rip.
That was what I meant (@ TorquedSoul) : If only numbers matter, then you will want to transfer up to some bigger server. Those who are left are even fewer and quit eventually. Then merge and the same thing happens again and again. That’s a big reason why wvw is bleeding players – and it’s actually a logical consequence of bigger = better.

No it wouldn’t because PvE enemies don’t behave like human enemies and abilities that work in small scale combat can be completely ineffectual in large scale combat.
Yes, PvE mobs are predictable – that’s why it doesn’t make sense to have all these blocks and CC in game. And if they dish out a bit less damage in a bit less frequent intervals it wouldn’t make PvE unplayable.
Most skills are more or less useless in large scale (except boons and AoE fields which can be useless in certain circumstances as well – that’s why large scale can’t really be balanced as small scale is more important – if you’d buff large scale all roamers would one shot each other) – we were fine with that fact until HoT – why should that be different now?
In the end: I have no idea since when you’re playing but we’ve had balance before June last year and it worked fine (with some bugs – the game is buggy anyway and that is an issue that should’ve been adressed even then and should be adressed now – in case they intend to keep PvP and WvW) – I guess you agree with me on that – we already had all of what you say is impossible.
If that was the case, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Nor would there be players complaining about fotm & meta builds in PvP. Oh yeah and even for PvE raids, some classes & builds are preferred over others. So this one size fits all approach really doesn’t work well.
It doesn’t work because there is no balance at all – but that isn’t solved by dividing the modes – that was my point.
And the powercreep was brought to us because of PvE – I bet none of those responsible for the traitmerger June last year and the Hot lines thought of PvP or WvW for one second.

You don’t really need large scale balance, that’s a minor issue which should be partly solved with class balance.
Deceiver knows it better than me but the damage calculations in PvP are different than those in PvE/WvW – that’s the only issue. Otherwise one balance fits it all would work perfectly fine.
They don’t even need that: Have a glimpse at the PvP forums – they have the nearly same problems like us. All they need to do is to nerf raids and step away from balancing this game for PvE.

They’re out of control, and why I stopped bothering for the most part with WvW and GW2 in general, since that’s what I play the game for.
But unfortunately ANet developers do not care about profession balance in WvW. They’ve said it outright that they actually do not care and that the game mode is not intended to be balanced.
The sad reality is complaining about it falls on deaf ears. Most self-respecting players just got up and left, trolls continue to run the get-carried builds since it makes people angry, and those with skill deficiencies can do the same and claim victory while refuting any innate advantages they may have.
The unfortunate truth of it is that if you don’t like it, too bad. Nothing’s probably changing to ever make it any better, since profession developers only balance for PvE.
I think that’s a wrong interpretation of what they actually meant: They can’t really balance large scale, which is true. And maybe at some point they used that quote as an excuse to not care about (wvw) balance at all.
But yes, this game is balanced for PvE and I guess everybody could tell that this is a very very very bad idea (except for PvE players of course “But raids are soo hard – you have no idea!!”).

Yes you can get there from the forums. You don’t have to rank up to be able to take the poll. Anybody registered on the site can take the poll. What happens when you rank up in WvW is you get a message saying there is a poll… but it doesn’t matter even if you go into WvW at all.. you can still take the poll in the forums.
Alright – so then there’s the answer how anyone from the game could have their vote on what BL we should have and with that the “all wvw voted and 66% wanted the DBLs to stay” is probably exaggerated.
I said you needed to level up once and you said “No, you have to rank up” which to me is the same kitten, you completely missed the point that a PvE player can come in and vote on WvW changes, might aswell say “guys if you use a bank in LA, you get to vote on PvE changes.”
To over simplify with numbers.
10 players:
7 play PvE/PvX
2 play WvW
1 play PvPThose 7 people might only do 1 hour of WvW a week in total, the 2 WvW players have been in WvW every day for 4 years.
A poll is brought out to get the WvW opinion, the 7 people vote for 1 thing not knowing any better while the 2 who WvW chose a vote thats best for the game mode via knowledge.
The group of 7 win the poll vote for WvW because of numbers, the poll is skewed and never reach the intended target audience.
66% of players might have voted the map in but it wasn’t 66% of WvW players and I’m sure you Jana have been a WvW player for quite some time so I’m surprised to even see you not understanding this.
I think you didn’t get what I wrote at all – no need to be angry – reread what I wrote and probably read the stuff Balthazar wrote to me.
In short: Anyone had access to the polls, which I didn’t know.
No one needed to rank up (level up is something else) – everybody had access to the polls – we have the same opinion – so no idea why you’re mad at me.
ETA: But it’s nice to see that you guys like my name and use it additionally to adress me instead of just a quote and “you”. I like it as well. :P

I guess that was still more a problem with D/P, I only ever really stacked might when in PvE (where they wanted it now) or when I used SR – that is my only option to really “camp” stealth anyway.
The nerfs made to SA don’t affect D/P – for that set the line is as it was (minus the might).
Would be for me as well if CiS weren’t grandmaster or on my offhand dagger. But since I’m “forced” to work around that I noticed that I really can’t chose my playstyle with SA. Also some traits helping with melee (which D/D is) would be appreciated, like last refuge which is locked in the first bracket.

Doesn’t matter what map you are on. Or what server … you’ll see things pick up again. I’m actually looking forward to dbl. I play most on ebg, but I like diversity… so it’s going to be a welcomed change.
We’re currently trying to defend our garri and thanks to the mortar nerf I’m unable to hit the catas with the mortar (range either too short or too wide). Thanks to the architecture the cannons hit the asuran structures in front of them = can’t hit the catas although they’re technically in range – I don’t think that the DBLs will be more than PvD maps.

If you look at all the changes made to thief from June last year to now- there is absolutely no logic behind it.
Putting CiS in grandmaster, taking might from SA (yeah, I know Deceiver, still it would’ve spared us the stealth attack cooldown because SA wouldn’t be that useless now), reveal skills for tanky classes who don’t need it, stealth for classes who don’t need it and who don’t have all these penalties we have, this stealth passively stealthing me and hampering with my mechanics “I’m going to CnD and then.. whoopps thanks engi, now I’m revealed” and so on – I could write a very long list about what is wrong with thief and how they passively nerfed thief more and more by buffing other classes.
They have no clue – sorry anet but it’s true and it’s a shame because this game is awesome and could’ve been really great but not having a proper balance team destroyed it.

Example (I didn’t test all mobs in game) : The fire shaman and tower lords in wvw (maybe also keep lords) target the one who attack them first. The fire shaman never resets (I’m a stealth thief ) tower lords do occassionally.
Maybe it’s you who does things differently and not the game.

I agree, food needs to last longer. I am constantly forgetting to eat while playing.
I wonder if it would be possible for them to make it so we can gorge ourselves and eat a bunch of the same food all at once. And just add up all the times so it can last longer.

I agree. 14 of my chars have a task and usually stay on the map they are and I usually only play one character who moves around. For me this works but I can imagine that to some it’s a problem.
But actually: would be nice if the current system were included in the sorting options so I can carry on like usual. But then again: char slots are on sale..
