ANet has already said (multiple times) for the last 10 years that there will be NO sub/membership fees EVER.
I have been playing online games since the BBS days and still do not understand why someone would pay $50 to $100 (or more) for a game and then pay $5 to $20 a month just to be able to access what was already bought and paid for.
- Well, I remember paying for a Xpac that they still haven’t released everything for.
- I remember a manifesto that they was going to try and follow but are no where near and have brought up so they don’t have to release all of the xpac.
- They also said WvW abilities was NEVER going to be account bound and about 2 months later they made them account bound.
- I remember something about fractal leaderboards and something about them not doing it.
Since they said nothing is off the table, don’t be surprised if they do offer some type of OPTIONAL sub thing for like boosters or discounted waypoints
its tru, sometimes i start to think dat, maybe anet looks back at things they said they would not do, and decide to do exactly that to see if a terrible idea really is terrible when they implement it
so far, terrible ideas are terrible, but anet likes to try terrible things, and act like they were successes
because half the time watching gw2 pvp twitch is someone running around the lobby waiting on a queue to pop
wuts moar boring than waiting on your queue to pop… its watching someone else wait for theirs… zzzzz
moar like “Never- Worth it” !
its been… 4 years? and there still is nothing to do in hotm while waiting on a pvp queue to pop.
in 4 years you can complain about being bored waiting to play the game
i think long queue and short queue always mean its going to be bad, for one of the teams
maybe blowout in your favor, maybe the baddies, but usu its going to be a blowout
hmm long queue i think higher chance to have higher MMR difference between the 2 teams.
but short queue should be less likely right ?
as in it kinda means the match maker found 10 people with similar MMR (with the pip range) or something like that.i think if u log in, go into HotM, queue, and w/in 15 secs it pops, that would mean a group of people were already picked and it needed to fill in a spot and you were in that gap.
i think of it as, not looking for a good fit for you, but it had a group of people that u happen to fall into their range
aaaaaaaaah you’re right !
that group of 9 could have been waiting for a very long time! O_O
that’s my thinking at least.
i think long queue and short queue always mean its going to be bad, for one of the teams

don’t worry, i think they recently created a Stronghold of the Faithful. sounds like a neat stronghold map to go w/ Battle of Champions Dusk
Sadly no, the new Stronghold of the Faithful is e last wing of the current Raid season in pve. =/
then why did they call it stronghold? did they not use the google? stronghold synonyms?
don’t worry, i think they recently created a Stronghold of the Faithful. sounds like a neat stronghold map to go w/ Battle of Champions Dusk
love the RA nod where if your team wins you keep that team if you win i think that would be a great idea
that only worked for guild wars 1 random arenas because the fights are usually over within a minute, plus the queue time is under 30 seconds.
it will not work with guild wars 2 5v5 conquest because a match is about 10 minutes average and queue time is about 2 – 5 minutes or even higher.
it simply will not work.
unless we have less than 30 seconds queue times and matches that conclude within a minute.
it would work if it was… RA. no respawn, deathmatch, no mmr just random matchups
since fights were just quick and fun, it didn’t matter if you had 10 straight losses, that was only 10-15 mins. w/ gw2 conquest, thats only 1 match. w/ gw2 conquest 10 straight losses = ~100 min match time, 30 min queue, or over 2 hours = misery
main issue is anet’s current strat/goal for pvp doesn’t focus on fun, its on esports and leagues
playing gw2 meta events is 40% fighting, 10% standing around, and 50% opening chests, salvaging, depositing materials, selling on TP.
next xpac, GW2: Inventory Manager of Tyria
wouldn’t it be nice if you could get some of those legendary perks (stat swapping + footfalls) from a skin u find unique and fitting for your character?
someone said this once. makes some sense for people who don’t liek the current legendary set up
if we can’t have anet’s legendaries, maybe we can have our own.
Since anet has suspended their plans for new legendaries, they should put a method in place for us to build a legendary we could actually be proud of, and would feel unique to wield.
i think a lot of folks don’t want to use the overly flashy, often silly looking legendary weapons, that everyone already has anyways. but it would be nice to have the footfall and the stat swapping. this way people can see it, know you got a legendary, and its not exactly the same as the one that guy/gal has over there because they are also using a greatsword.
lets look at the formula for a legendary which is simple:
precursor X + gift of X + gift of fortune + gift of mastery
fortune and mastery are easy, they already exist.
we have a conceptual framework for crafting precursor’s, but what if we could bend it a little to make the precursor achievements offer us a gift of X, or something that can then be used to make a gift of X. this gift can basically determine what kind of footfall you make.
And since the precursor achievement gives us a gift of X, let say the precursor X can be any weapon, Lord Taeres’s Shadow or even Royal Ascalonian Dagger, whatever you wanted to make legendary. i know this can be totally variable so someone could use something xtra expensive, or xtra cheap. devs can just make the gift of X achievement super expensive so that this doesn’t become a cheap way to make a weapon w/ stat swapping.
it’d give me more incentive to make a legendary. there are a lot of skins i like more than the current set of legendaries. w/ a framework like this, i could still look/feel good wielding a legendary w/o having to wield a weapon that doesn’t fit the theme/look that i want for my character
foefire, the legendaries are overrated
Asurans had to make a choice between developing waypoint technology and flail technology. They didn’t have the budget for both. Atm those purse strings are held by Councillor Phlunt.

i don’t usu like anything u say, but this was pretty funny
In other words, select ‘Botting’ via the Report window …
Good luck.
very tru, only thing u can really do
to have a GM monitor/review the player’s actions.
Good luck.
u wish they actually looked into/did anything about it. maybe if u get 20+ people to report it.
i always report, but i don’t expect anything of it
the problem is anet focusing on the wrong things.
they need to focus on making pvp fun, someone said it like this
make it fun
? more players pvp since its… fun
? better population means better Q times
? better Q (and more people) means more people will try to organize as teams
? more teams means more competition in the top tourneys
? more competition + more people can increase the drive for people to actually watch the matches
? more people watching matches means we can start to think of esports again
its by design.
spend 2 hrs doing meta AB, spend 30 mins cleaning out your bags, just in time to do meta again.
no down time rite?
same issue at stronghold i think w/ the summon mist champs pts
But it just sounds so corny :P
The Eternity one also sounds cheesy.
i don’t disagree… but such is what we gat. just pointing out it isn’t totally baseless.
Unbroken has some reason-ability.
norn → lost someone
Marjory → lost someone
asura → lost someone
but they are unbroken and continue the fight. course, i don’t remember if rox n kasmeer have anything to be broken up about
I know this has nothing to do with the current Conquest and these are just my dreams running wild and away from the boring PvP atm (I also know that Anet will never implement the actual mode).
I recently delved into WoW and I have to say that even tho the balance is crap, the Battlegrounds are an amazing experience. I’ve been toying with the idea for quite some time since and I was surprised that my friends loved it as well. That’s why I really want to hear everyone’s opinion, even if it is only for my consolation, as the game modes in the current game can no longer provide fun for me (WvW has too many gankers/blobs). Of course the gamemode would need some features to differentiate it from others:
- No point capture as it promotes bunker gameplay
- A large enough map (mobility would be of a big importance) with a healthy does of varied terrain (not too much LOS, not too many elevations)
- Some mechanics of course (intended to split up people, it would prevent forming blobs of 20 ppl)
- Rewards for playing the gamemode
I know people will probably ignore this thread, as it does not directly refer to the current PvP state, but or me, it would be the best thing there has ever been in this game. I wanna know how many people would also like this kind of game mode.
the problem here is u are thinking about something that might make pvp more fun, rather than more esports.
change your pov to, how can we make it more esports, then you will be able to think from anet perspective. from there u will see, the possibilities are limited
…. Just due to the fact that 99 % of toxicity in pvp comes thanks to such type of players.
….
this was my favorite part. toxicity is thanks to these players.
elona ftw
agreed. perma [insert anything] should never be something that is supported.
this could prob be achieved w/ the tools they’ve built for the guild arenas.
but since we kno their focus is on the esports, and even w/ a dedicated team they can’t seem to build more than the 5 or so arenas we have now, i wouldn’t count on them accepting user designs
- Introduce RA/TA, that format would be great to watch, especially with interesting maps. The shorter format would be great to watch.
- essentially turn the PvP into a GW1 kind of PvP that is fun to watch and to understand what is happening.
due to the amount of work i imagine the 1st part of your post would include, i can’t ever see it happening.
at least these 2 things seem more reasonable. they don’t affect anything else. altho anet will never do any of it. at least the last 4 years show them unwilling to do it
i think they need to focus on making the mode extremely fun 1st, then they can worry about esports.
make it fun
→ more players pvp since its… fun
→ better population means better Q times
→ better Q (and more people) means more people will try to organize as teams
→ more teams means more competition in the top tourneys

and change the helm to the aqua breather we have equiped anyways.
and make the bubble pop when we land
and make the bubble pop if other players come into contact w/ it
and let us dye the bubble, maybe i’m inside the green lanterns bubble!
and only let us equip it if we have staffs or wands equiped, pointy weapons would prob pop it early!
The function gyro is small and easy to miss if your zoomed out. If an engi does it to me I have not been able to survive it. Ele’s don’t have a problem against it or thieves, or mez… because moving will stop it.
fair enough, perhaps i just didn’t see as many scrappers last season so i didn’t notice it before.
thanks
in separate matches against separate scrappers i’ve had a similar thing occur.
match 1, i was downed, interrupted the scrapper’s finisher, and while he was feared running the opposite direction, i was finished off.
match 2, my teammate was downed, then the scrapper was downed, but then my mate suddenly gets finished, scrapper gets back up to fight on.
so, is there a skill or something related to gyros that can perform a finisher? i didn’t ever notice this last season, so i didn’t think it would be a skill, but i haven’t playd as a scrapper so i dont’ know all their tricks.
in neither case did i see any other enemies around to perform the finisher. maybe its a general bug where the finisher action isn’t getting cancelled correctly, and it just happened that i noticed it w/ scrappers, but i just wasnt’ really sure whats happening and wanted to see if anyone else has seen it/ knows what is really happening.
ofc anet could focus on ensuring pvp is fun, instead of only pushing in 1 direction of conquest mode = esports or gtfo
I like them. Something to look forward to every other Tuesday, just like the olden days!
I suppose an in-game mail would be ok, but I like the sense of discovery and surprise that the item drop (that points us to LA) affords us.
Still, each to their own.
but it wasn’t a sense of discovery and surprise, there was a hint dropped in the release notes, but not everyone reads those. if they want to drop a hint, it should be in game too
so instead its more like a way to create a set of players that are ‘in the know’ and a set that are not.
i didn’t notice if they did or didn’t put it in the top right w/ the story journal quests, pvp events, etc, but they should put something about these events there.
if i wasn’t on the forums/dulfy/reddit/etc, i wouldn’t have any idea about these events, and that doesn’t really feel right.
at a min they should put that line from the patch notes in a mail from “E” or in the top right w/ other events for the average player to see
s1 matches were too frustrating, fighting against the odds you were given to win… hopefully its closer to s2 than s1
This a misrepresentation of S1, what you are describing is S2.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/finding-the-perfect-match/
odds of winning chart.
if they are using this scoring again, and i have to regularly be in the 20-39% of winning group again, frustrating is an understatement
Idk what you are grasping at.. your odds of winning were the 50/50 in season 1 Whereas in season 2, depending on your MMR you wither had 50/50 change to win a 85% chance to lose or a 85% chance to win. So, you are misrepresenting S1, the only problem in S1 was your teammates.
i could be remembering it wrong, but after a match in s1 you would get, say +2 points, looking at the chart that would mean u had a 20-39% chance of winning, ie u were fighting against the odds to actually win.
ofc i might just be remembering it wrong. alls i know is win streaks in s2 made pvp much moar bearable for me personally
Nope, you are remember it right, it just that you could gained lot of point by facing a team with a 10 in it. 10 1 1 1 1 vs 3 3 3 3 3. To undertsand this, you have to look at glicko or elo formula. So, Its still not clear how pip were awarded but I believe it was linked to your MMR score. If your score significantly increased ( from vs ing a 10) then more pip were awarded. Still doesn’t change the fact that you had a 50/50 chnace of winning or losing. But the bolded part is all speculation.
fair enough, i think i follow u. i just remember feeling like my mates were struggling to kno what to do, but in s2 i didn’t feel that way as much as i would just get win streaks and sail thru those

i dun’t kno much about it, but u might possibly be able to do this on your owe client using sweetfx or reshade or something.
……
Quite a few times I have ported onto a point with a revenant on it, they cast UA and then I immediately portal back to where I came from and the revenant follows me so when the attack is finished I use the portal again and cap the point without anyone contesting it.
……
this doesn’t seem right to me. i’d call that a bug, even if it can work in the rev’s favor
i think they like to call them gobblers.
Sigil gobbler/ rune gobbler.
players being obnoxious and spamming you to do something you don’t want to do in pve?
i’m not sure i buy that. this is gw2, and this sounds more like something that would happen in a game that allows dueling. this is the #1 reason we don’t want dueling in this game. stuff like this could happen.
u must be thinking of some other game. maybe it was swtor?
Interest in polls for PvP is noted.
noted and…
i like the time off. lots of other things in the game i still want to do, so its nice to not feel like i HAVE to queue up
This, god it seems that some people forget this is an actual mmorpg and not some kind of PvP only game. And it’s funny cause in fact the majority of the player population, at any time, is not playing PvP.
So, your point is…..what?
Even if only 5% play pvp, its Anet who are pushing this ‘esports’ dream, but without a pvp population, it just doesnt happen. And for a whole month the population decreases, with the likely hood of even more people not coming back a month later.
This, is like me going to the Wvw forums and saying to the people who care about their BL .." Stop complaining how bad desert BL is, you have pvp and raids now so you cannot complain".
I’m not saying everyone will agree with me, but your argument on the assumption of ’ go do something else because pvp is so small in this game’ is silly.
SNIP
Yeh i get your point. But i think you misunderstand me.
Seasons are fine the way they are set up. They are the daddy of pvp.
What i’m saying is, why cant, like a couple of years ago, just keep a SEPARATE leaderboard going for solo queueing ranked. It used to happen.
It doesn’t have to have rewards or anything, so you feel like you, personally have to grind it. It’s for people like me, who really only play this game for the amazing pvp mechanics, to at least have some competitive play during the off-season.
It wouldn’t change anything to do with seasons, just simply keep the competitive, pure pvp, community alive for a month because, you may find this hard to believe’ but some people do care about wins/losses, and personal rankings.
i see your pt now. yeah i suppose it running separate from the seasons stuff would be fine, altho i still contend most people will get bored and it’ll flatten out to where u play the same small group of people over n over.
best thing to do to make pvp pop grow is to focus on the fun 1st. once anet puts fun in front of everything else, then people will return (because pvp should be fun to do) then they can worry about all the other jazz they seem to focus on
i like the time off. lots of other things in the game i still want to do, so its nice to not feel like i HAVE to queue up

the real problem is its just not fun to keep grinding away, even if there’s leaderboard or whatever. its repetitive and boring. thats the real reason population falls off so bad. by having the seasons, we get to have a break, and on return it is moderately fun again.
in your, year long leaderboard or whatevs, people like me will still get bored, and then stop, but then i’m much less likely to come back because… well i’m way behind on the board why should i return at all?
i guess u will maybe be able to maintain your 100ish ‘hardcore players’ but you aren’t going to have the rest of us in the same # as the seasons
i like the time off. lots of other things in the game i still want to do, so its nice to not feel like i HAVE to queue up
We already have a toggle helm. We just need a toggle for the outfit’s head gear.
Outfit headgear: toggle on = Outfit’s head gear appears (regardless of Helm toggle)
- Helm: toggle on = Outfit’s head gear appears
- Helm: toggle off = Outfit’s head gear appears
Outfit head gear: toggle off = Outfit headgear gone: Helm toggle now decides appearance
- Helm: toggle on = armor helm appears with outfit
- Helm: toggle off = no helm (or head gear) with outfit
i don’t see why u should stop at the helm. make all outfit pieces toggle-able. this way outfits remain an easy way for anet to dev new looks (compared to actual armor sets) and it makes them more flexible for players.
i don’t buy outfits because its so restrictive. but if i could toggle the parts i like and wear whatever else , they might be more interested to purch
i originally read the title of this as ‘colin fed savage o matic refund’. an i laughed
