Dailies do not exist to be fun. Dailies do not exist to provide rewards. Dailies do not exist for any reason other than to incentivize people to participate in content that they do not normally do, whether it’s moving them to underplayed maps, into PvP, or into WvW.

Asking for them to make it easier to complete Dailies without doing content you don’t normally do is pretty pointless, since it will never happen as it directly conflicts with the entire point of the dailies.

u must not have been here during daily revision… 2 or 3. it was a choose your own daily system, had a ton of things to do, you picked like 5 or 10, did it as you played whatever content u were already going to play, and it was good

if we can’t have anet’s legendaries, maybe we can have our own.

Since anet has suspended their plans for new legendaries, they should put a method in place for us to build a legendary we could actually be proud of, and would feel unique to wield.

i think a lot of folks don’t want to use the overly flashy, often silly looking legendary weapons, that everyone already has anyways. but it would be nice to have the footfall and the stat swapping. this way people can see it, know you got a legendary, and its not exactly the same as the one that guy/gal has over there because they are also using a greatsword.

lets look at the formula for a legendary which is simple:

precursor X + gift of X + gift of fortune + gift of mastery

fortune and mastery are easy, they already exist.

we have a conceptual framework for crafting precursor’s, but what if we could bend it a little to make the precursor achievements offer us a gift of X, or something that can then be used to make a gift of X. this gift can basically determine what kind of footfall you make.

And since the precursor achievement gives us a gift of X, let say the precursor X can be any weapon, Lord Taeres’s Shadow or even Royal Ascalonian Dagger, whatever you wanted to make legendary. i know this can be totally variable so someone could use something xtra expensive, or xtra cheap. devs can just make the gift of X achievement super expensive so that this doesn’t become a cheap way to make a weapon w/ stat swapping.

it’d give me more incentive to make a legendary. there are a lot of skins i like more than the current set of legendaries. w/ a framework like this, i could still look/feel good wielding a legendary w/o having to wield a weapon that doesn’t fit the theme/look that i want for my character

Main question is in the title.

I’m just curious why I don’t see more of them since the game has been out for 3 years.
Are precursors truly that rare (that theyre not enough on the tp)?

cause they are generic at this point. so many players have them. wuts legendary about a weapon when half the people running in the group also have them? also i’d rather have a weapon that fits my char’s theme than try to adjust my char’s looks to match a weapon.

Ok other than NOOOO are there any actual arguments against this? There is no correlation to skill in any of the tiers, so this has nothing to do with competition. You will get better matchups if we base it on MMR and remove the pip loss system.

Or do people here not want better match ups? Just want to be carried into a high league so you have a special marker next to your name?

the argument is that people complain boot being stuck in ruby because thats where you can lose pips and never grind it out.

with your solution, u are just moving the problem up to diamond. instead the complaints would simply be, ‘halp i’m stuck in diamond can’t reach legend’. it would have no effect other than to shift where everyone gets stuck.

u are saying well leagues don’t == skill but it could be because people could grind up to ruby. granted the lack of real soloq is also a part of it.

to me, wat we gat now is reasonable. 50% of league can be grinded moar or less, other half can’t.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to just chime in here and make some things clear as they may not be clear.

The “Year of The Ascension” achievement do not reset/clear between seasons. Whatever progress you have carries over to the next season.

If you can’t/don’t get the legendary if a specific year then there will be another way to obtain that specific backpack. I can’t go into any details on that, but you WILL be able to get previous years backpacks in some way.

We also understand the frustration of players and matchmaking this season and will do our best to make some changes for Season 3.

Can the Raid only items get this treatment too? Another way to earn them.
I don’t understand why add something that should take effort to get, only to assure people they will get it anyway as long as they want it.

u don’t git to imply negativity about raid content round these parts, partner. raid is xtra important, remember that!

I dont want to be rude but you are in a 2-1-1-1 which is not a solo team. You are a solo player vs a premade but your team is not all solo que players.

Yes, but didn’t Anet say that full Premades only face full Premades? I’m aware that DuoQ can face up to 4 man Premades.

that would be the hope, but that is not the case. they just said a full 5man won’t play a full 1-1-1-1-1 solo team, but u can dream that someday it’d happen

What they should do, is scrap leagues entirely, pips and stuff are just fluff.

What i would like to see it’s something like in Leaderboards with rating rather then pips and leagues.

You are right: Another option is to make mmr visible.

maybe if they are afraid to show mmr due to [reasons] maybe we could have some kind of heat map. just color code us.

red = high high mmr

You are confusing elite with prestigious. The elite in this case being formed by pre made team groupies who are willing to stack specific classes and builds.

The majority of matches favor one side and most of those who have risen to high rank have done so by being on a team rather than by individual skill. This doesn’t result in prestige, it results in a caste of haves and a caste of have-nots.

Everything you wrote is demonstrably false.

There are plenty of players who reached legendary via solo-queue. Heck, some guy posted a thread where he solo-queued to legendary running core necro (NOT REAPER) on a brand new free-to-play account (so no MMR advantage). Some other dude posted a thread with screenshots of each of his solo-queue matches to legendary.

How did they accomplish that? By being more skilled than you. Don’t pretend otherwise.

Sorry… but a TOP player having a fresh new account will not have difficulties because the new player account is AVG MMR (or better).

If the MMR was fixed to 20% for new account, TOP players would find it more harder to SOLOQ in the last tier of the player base.

All this because they choose to put MMR for your team but not for the opponent

Either remove MMR or do MMR vs MMR. The actual system is a joke that let TOP player trying to let you think they are better than all because they win matches on second account, but it’s false since their many account are old and got MMR in the top 20%. (and if completely fresh 2016 account, they start at AVG MMR and have the skills to make it goes higher… starting in HELL (20% bottom) would be a different story.

This is bad because many TOP players are really the best of the WORLD but the League and is MAtch Making remove that value since the system give them EASY rides.

How does one go from average MMR to below-average MMR? By repeatedly losing to players who had lower MMR than you, or at least similar MMR. Your MMR barely changes if you lose to a team that had a much higher MMR, so it’s not your blow-out losses to the Abjured Premade that caused your MMR to tank. It’s losing all those games where you were actually favored to win.

And how does one go from average MMR to a high MMR? By repeatedly beating players who had higher MMR or similar MMR.

The real problem here may just be that there aren’t enough weak players to go around. If there’s only 5 weak players in late Sapphire / early Ruby queuing up at a particular time, then they’ll all go on one team and won’t be able to find an equally weak team to play against. None of their matches will be fun. Their MMR won’t change much from the resulting blowout losses, but they’ll continue to lose any vulnerable pips.

One solution would be to let the weak players drop down tiers so that they wind up in a bigger pool of weak players, but that would just lead to more frustration with respect to progress.

The better solution would be to attract more players, so that there are enough weak players to form a 5v5. To that end, letting us queue outside HOTM would go a really long way. Also, making the reward tracks more meaningful would also help.

Both of your bolded statements have to be backed up, or you are just spewing hot air. Here what Anet says ( I know the information is dated but there is nothing else out there for us to rely on). I’ll highlight the important variable for you.

Based on this, it’s pretty clear that the other team MMR does matter, but to an extent, when it comes to your rating. You can lose/gain between 350 MMR point or 30 MMR point per games. Let’s say going up against the abjured resulted in a 30 MMR point loss; after 10 losses you be around 1200 MMR if you were around 1500. So, how are these numbers not significant?? I could be wrong though.

In Glicko2, the “Deviation Default,” “Deviation Min,” and “Deviation Max” values are multiplied by a function of your volatility to determine the actual change in your rating. (See http://www.glicko.net/glicko/glicko2.pdf, starting at page 4). I can’t copy/paste the actual formula so I’ve provided a link instead. (Note: It’s not a straight up multiplication, but the volatility factors into the final ratings change). So the actual ratings changes are going to be lower than what you provided.

Also, there’s nothing wrong with your MMR going down by a meaningful amount if you lose 10 times in a row (even if it’s to the Abjured). But if you lose to the Abjured twice, then win vs. a team that’s closely matched to yours, then you could have a net MMR increase (using the information you provided). So again, the primary impact on your MMR is going to be all of the games where your MMRs are relatively close. This goes back to my earlier point about how “MMR hell” is an issue only when there aren’t enough weak players to form a competitive 5v5 (see above for suggested solutions).

Also like someone stated below me, MMR is only taken into account to match you with similar folks. So losing 10 games in row, might be a thing depending on which side of the MMR you ended up in. Because there is no corralLatin between your team MMR and the opponent.

That’s a separate point, and I agree with it. If your MMR is below-average relative to other players in your pip-range, then you’re going to lose more often than win. Just like if I became an NBA player, whatever team I join is going to lose more often than win (assuming that they’re forced to field me, rather than keep me on the bench).

But let’s be real here: the people still stuck in emerald/sapphire/low-ruby are not going up against the Abjured in unwinnable matchups. Using your own logic, all of the high-MMR people should already be in diamond/legendary by now.

do theives not have stability? most classes need to run some stability i think. anytime one of these complaint threads come up where the easy solution is, ‘use stunbreak + stab’, its always by a theif

edit, so i looked real quick at theif skills/traits and didn’t see much stab. but theres lots of stunbreakers so i suppose you just going to ahve to have those + all those teleports to avoid death

Remove/adjust the breakable panels at A and C point or Add second layer under the hole so players dont die, but still lose time for falling into them

make the skyhammer less devastating dmg wise. incr the cd on it. should be comparable to trebs. if the dmg is higher, cd should be some what higher. i can dodge the treb all day, but the skyhammer will git u

removing the 3 holes around pt A and C would also help, as many people get frustrated winning a fight w/ ease, only to be pulled in by a 2nd, 3rd, 4th pull

In Guild Wars I could play every day, as the PvP seemed more enjoyable, however, with Guild Wars 2 there is just too much I feel has not been polished in order to keep being fun.

this is your problem. gw2 pvp isn’t about being fun. it’s about esport, and shinies. someone said it before like this:

consider this: if fun was a goal of gw2 pvp, we would have:

soloq
tru tdm (that 1 map don’t count an u kno it)
dueling (at least in the hotm)
something (anything) to do while waiting on queue
random arena (gw1 style or similar)
other modes (2v2, 3v3 whatevs)
original hotjoin (8v8 10v10, something like alliance battles in gw1)
… prob forgetting something….

pt is, any or all of those things could add a level of fun for at least some people

rather than seeing any of these things, we see anet push esports and team queue for conquest

therefore, fun is not a part of the current goals/strategy for gw2 pvp

You are constantly matched with people who have no idea what they are doing, which means progression in this system is clearly more about luck/grinding than it is about skill.

…and even if the leagues did determine player skill level…. why does anet reset the leagues every single season….. players spend 90% of their time attempting to get to the bracket where they belong…. rather than actually getting to play with other players of their skill level.

What is the point?

Actually your teammates are roughly your skill level. That’s the problem 90% of people think they are way better then they are.

i think this is possibly the OP’s problem. i’ve had this happen 2×. person dc, for ~70% of a match, comes back last mins of the match, every1 loses a pip. frustrating

they mean they removed the “avg queue time” that was displayed so now u don’t know if u are getting longer times or not, so they hope the time will just feel reduced

When I got HoT I was confused too. I don’t like this system, filling it up with exp should be enough.

agreed. the system is not very intuitive or clear. i would bet a large # of players let that exp bar fill up, and leave it there for sometime, missing out on any new exp, because they didn’t realize they needed to click thru a few menus to move on to the next mastery

only 1x i ever gotten stuck. usu the direction i am moving doesn’t want to respond so i seem stuck, and as soon as i let go of the key, i am fine. but the 1 x that wasn’kitten i just typed /dance, and i was fine.

so try that, or /wave maybe easier since all the keys ‘w’ ‘a’ v’ ‘e’ are already on the wasd hand

Boon corrupt on the scepter auto attack?…ANet, ever heard of the phrase: “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”? These skills were perfectly fine already. That scepter boon corrupt shouldn’t even be in the game, but if it were to be put in the game, it should be on the axe auto because axe needs love, is the necro boon corrupt weapon, and desperately needs an auto-chain. What game are you playing where condi reaper needs a buff? …

Some folks disagreed with me on this one, but I think the past 3 weeks have shown us that the above comment is still spot on: the scepter auto-attack rewards auto-spam by perma-fearing anyone pulsing stability (ranger shout elite, RS#3, juggernaut, etc.). Robert Gee went to great length to explain to us that the underpowered necro axe auto couldn’t be buffed because it wasn’t a projectile, and then ANet went ahead and gave scepter an amazing auto-chain. The HoT elite specs introduced so many new forms of crowd-control that PvP these days is just an exercise in tossing (and being tossed) about like a ragdoll…so naturally, people bring stability. And now a non-projectile auto-attack can basically spam-corrupt stability. It’s so over the top. The boon corrupt on scepter auto needs to be removed ASAP….
