It’s how you died. It’s a glitch. Just respawn, usually fixes it.
1. Have the commander detag and use /say. Most often these alt spy accounts are just parked in spawn and relaying the location of the blue dorito.
2. Make friends with your spies! Be super friendly, hang out with them — new players will appreciated the time, spies will hate it. It’s a good way to figure it out. Another hint is if they run past all the siege and stay in the tower and never refresh any. It’s a good giveaway
3. USE your spies. If they’re parked in a certain tower, you know that tower is going to be hit if left empty. Sit down beside them and brew a cup of coffee and chat happily. If they move to a different target, follow them!
Most of all, be nice. This “spy” could really just be a new player who doesn’t know how WvW works. Your interaction with them will determine whether they love this mode of gameplay the way you do, or if they leave and never come back.
Never say never because you never know… I have a strong feeling the devs read this and said “Wow, these are truly amazing ideas!”.
Don’t you work for ANet?
You seem to be in sync with how things are being planned for the WvW game mode…imho.
Until you see a red name attached, take everything with a grain of salt,
I do think we were headed towards the megaserver plan, but enough feedback here averted that … Thankfully. I still say kudos to Anet for being flexible enough to reevaluate.
I got dinged for “derailing” the thread by replying to your direct question, so I’ll un-derail and respond. And then expect you to do the same.
There are tons of players who don’t care about server pride, and that’s clear by all the server hoppers.
There’s equally enough players that do care, that’s clear by all the folks posting on the forum expressing this. What do you do about those players?
The individual server vs server vs server wvw obviously didn’t work correct?
It worked fine for three-plus years, with no meaningful updates. So moot point here. And it’s continuing to work fine with the linking.
Are you able to acknowledge that server linking has been a clever decision by Anet? It satisfies all types of players, while retaining server pride.
Now we have alliances so how are you handling that “server pride”?
It’s not alliances, it’s linking. And I know you see linking/alliances/megaserver as all the same thing, but it’s not.
The linking allowed players to retain their community and server pride, while augmenting populations on the map. That linking can easily be undone when needed and guess what? You still stay with the people you’ve played with as part of your community.
Server pride is alive and well.
What will you do when servers are changed again?
Won’t be a big deal since we’re still with our original teammates.
Conversely, the megaserver doesn’t guarantee you stay with your same teammates if you’re not guilded. How will you make those kinds of players happy since they’re a significant number in the game?
What happens when your server needs to be combined with 3 other smaller server to be balanced?
So far isn’t happening. Everyone’s bandwagoning to the lower tier cheaper server. Anet unlinks and BAM you have a populated lower tier again.
Miracles do happen.
Better still, NO megaserver. It’s just a bad idea. But you know that.
You really should invest in some “Good Idea Fairy” repellent.
Re: Server pride. I never, ever, wanted to PvP in an MMO again as my hands have deteriorated so much from RA. But, I ended up doing WvW, for server pride. I figured out things I could do, to help my Server.
If you stomp out the last vestiges of Server Pride and identity, I simply will not be pressing B anymore. I’ve never been to EoTM for that very reason.
I was thinking about how the community that sprouts out of MMOs really becomes the reason for a game’s longevity. Heck, look at EQ1, still chugging along, and I opened up EQ2 (a 12 year old game WITH a monthly sub) and it was so busy it had two versions of many zones.
It’s server pride, that sense of ownership, that keeps people emotionally tied to games. Remove that and the game dies.

It isn’t alliances, it’s server linking. Which can be unlinked at will by Anet if servers get too stacked. Meanwhile the population is actually spreading out (without them realizing it) and each server retains its COMMUNITY … You all go together with people you’ve been playing with for years.
Anet was incredibly clever to do this. It kept what people value and is slowly moving the population around to gain better parity in the lower tiers.
The only people jumping servers are the bandwagoners, and when Anet unlinks, they’ll have managed to spread out the population.
It’s genius.
And not megaserver

and will NEVER work since it is only around 100g to transfer.
Hrm, interesting. So you’re saying that the cost to transfer is too inconsequential to make a meaningful change for WvW?
Maybe they get folks to move to the lower tiered servers, then separate the servers that are over-stacked — or ultimately find balance by getting folks onto the lower pop servers — and then they change the transfer policy — where it costs something that is consequential, like $50 each time (in gems or money, that’s not a small sum to jump ship without seriously considering how much work is involved — grinding money to get gems will take longer than a day in this case).
OR they create a new transfer token in the shop that you’re only able to buy with cash — thus generating money for Anet and still making it consequentially significant in fee so that it actually forces players to evaluate leaping around. You can, ofc, gift the token to another player though.
I think you make a valid point that the cost to transfer should at least take effort to obtain — or money. And then maybe get folks sticking it out with their servers and willing to put in the effort to push upward.
Are people really transferring to ET? If that’s the case then nothing Anet will ever do will matter. Because people truly are stupid.
No Anet is brilliant.
Every server linking can be unlinked.
ET gets stacked?
Simple unlink.
It’s a clever way of spreading out the population, without the population realizing it
And if people insist on moving after the unlinking, well more money for Anet to spend on, (cross fingers), WvW and the game.
I don’t think it’s demeaning to ask people to behave like adults. I was just responding to the context of your original post.
/shrug
How you like ’em Alpines?
You do not change things by shutting up about it.
This is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
Gaming companies really do have to nip this kind of thinking in the butt. The “if I yell long and loudly enough, they’ll cave” mentality is a scourge to every MMO out there.
Nope, not at all. If you know the History in MMO’s you would know EXACTLY what happens when they don’t cave. The SWG CU Riots.. The dev didn’t cave, the game died and closed due to them “sticking to their guns.” Players should ALWAYS voice their happiness/ dissatisfaction with a game. Leaving because you are not happy with their decisions without saying anything isn’t helping the devs know how to fix the problem. Speaking up IS how you save it.
You kill your game fastest by not listening to the players.
Yep, voice opinion in a rational, adult manner. No to the screaming, yelling, threat thing that is endemic in all MMO forums.
It honestly feels like a kid throwing a temper tantrum in a store until the parent caves. You really don’t want to encourage that kind of behaviour, because then your child grows up to be a monster, incapable of recognizing social queues. It’s bad for the parent, it’s bad for society, worse still, it’s terrible messaging to give the child.
We’re adults here. Yes, voice your opinion, but you can do so (even passionately) without the slurs.

As long as there’s no mud slinging, you might be able to get away with a match thread. The minute it becomes a resource/maintenance issue, they’ll quash it.
Yeah ideally these polls hit every player and not just cater to the mouthy loud ones (myself included).
Then spread out. Stop thinking T1 actually means the best tier.
Email account needs purging again!
We plan to do everything on the poll. This poll is to help us set priorities of what order you would like to see them.
Really pleased you’re doing it this way. I think giving options will alleviate the angst and you can always point to polling results in future.
When you’ve defended a tower for the last 20 minutes with one arrow cart and 73 supply just to have the zerg to arrive just as the wall goes down.
And then you’re the only one left to repair the wall.
…. And the tower has zero supp
when you’ve answered the question “eyes Hills?” at the same time as it’s asked.
When you kept calling it Bay and Hills on DBL.
You get the scout of the week award and give it to two others, because your fellow scouts are as poor as you.
Not mine, but a classic I enjoy very much
OMG! I LOVED this video!!!!
I hadn`t seen it before. It`s brilliant
(especially the 10 SFR vs one heartbroken scout lol, oh so many times)
What’s hilarious to me is these guys who try to jump you, attack first, then start to lose and run.
Makes my day.
Basically the stupid lack the self awareness and intelligence to recognise their own stupidity, and therefore assume they’re intelligent.
Guess Chaba has Ogre pegged.
Qualified for Triple 9 Society(158 Stanford-Binet). Can beat you guys down in game, in real life (6’4 220) and while comparing mental acuity to a genius like me you are a group of troglodytes. A woman does not have near the amount of MLG points, reflexes, intelligence, nor reaction time to take me on at a video game. How many MLG events have you placed in? I have been top 10 in several Halo:CE events and have signed contracts as a semi-professional video game player. Playing against a girl wouldn’t even be worth my time
Lol this is pure gold.
You buy a second monitor to watch all four maps.
You actually sweep for mesmers.
The enemy blob knows your solo guild tag.
You kamikazee into a blob to delay them flipping a camp so help can get there.
You die and still keep typing like mad to let map know where the enemy’s going.
You spend eight hours on a map testing out new siege placement … And suckering in teammates to help you figure out trajectories.
You’re dirt broke but still won’t sell the siege in your bags.
You’ve died running off cliffs while manically typing out enemy movement.
They can add as many sky hammers and Dino bullkitten as you’d like as long as they never bring the map back to wvw. I’m sure pve players would love having some stupid gimmicky map added to the silver wastes area, or they can rotate it with eotm.
Just keep that stupidity out of WvW.I’m pretty sure casual wvw players like you need to learn how to adapt to changes. These cannons would work as any other siege we currently have and make the towers relevant with their placement.
Work like any other siege……
except you don’t have to build them, so no supply management
will have much farther range than other siege so it can’t be countered the way trebs can in alpineIt sounds like another gimmick that will allow the dbl lovers to avoid fighting the same way the dino skyhammer was. Go back to eotm.
Yo, Jim Hunter/Puck.
Stop being casual.
You heard him.
I’m trying. Instead of being a 111 guard I’m a 12345 guard. That’s how you become a pro right? If I just keep hitting every skill on cooldown that’s like….. max effort.
I thought it was just doing 1,000 faceplants. It appears I’ve been doing it wrong.
Where are all the female commanders at!?
Girls have a lesser developed frontal lobe than males which accounts for spatial awareness and spatial intelligence. Then there’s testosterone which is attributable to leadership qualities such as confidence. Women by nature are not good leaders
Say what?!
Oh right. Maguuma.
According to Dunning-Kruger, men often don’t know how dumb they are.
As long as they put down the toilet seat it’s all good. They can believe what they want

You forgot the part about them being physically weaker, making them less able to smash keyboard buttons during fights, which is absolutely crucial for any commander.
Sarcasm aside, I mostly agree with what has been said in several other posts above. I believe girls are rarer because they are fewer playing, and because of the weirdness and stupid remarks from a few people that are to be expected to happen in command situations. I dunno if a girl would feel glad to go online to have fun and get a break, only to find the same sexist stuff thrown as them as irl.
There’s actually a study done in 2014 I believe that pegged female gamers at 56% of the gaming population. Fastest growth demographic compared to as little as five years ago. I’ll see if I can’t dig it up.
Wouldn’t personally say its that crucial, but it is useful for knowing whats happening on the map. Reported it several days ago, hopefully gets fixed in the next update.
lol, you totally never scout I can tell
As for myself…
I find myself getting ignored/interrupted/mansplained at to the point where any commanding is unfeasable.
That said, there are some female commanders, but they have a way higher tolerance (than me) for kitten like that, because I’ve heard the same issues when following them.
You do have a point, many females do feel like they either need to speak over everyone to be heard, or just tend to stay quiet so they don’t sound funny, or say anything “dumb”, etc etc.
… Commanders do need to talk over people, otherwise those certain people will continue to talk. That isn’t a gender issue, it’s a control issue.
http://time.com/3666135/sheryl-sandberg-talking-while-female-manterruptions/
It’s why I tend to have a lot of respect for women who rise to the top in typically male-dominated careers.
That said, EU has a good amount of female commanders. Some on my server are the preferred commanders for many.
Well first up. We’re in ABL now. Did you mean that? Or are you talking about the desert borderlands that won’t be back for a couple months? Two different towers/two different strategies.
Second: What Sich said. We just got rid of a pile of gimmicks. Gimmicks + WvW don’t tend to go well together. The simpler the better for WvW maps. Players are creative enough to curate content without gimmicks.
Third: Sich plays SOLELY defense. He may have an unhealthy relationship with Hills, but he knows home BL better than almost anyone else I know. I don’t think he 111 guard staff enough to even have Ultimate Dominator tag for his sig line. Cough.
dbl, one of the apparent issues people had with dbl was that the towers were useless. With supercannons they are not. People had issues with dbl being hard to navigate, they fixed that. People had issues with the meta-event, they removed that. Now that all the issues are resolved with the supercannon we can go back to dbl and not 2012.
You need objectives for interesting battles, pirateshipping eachother til the other one runs off is not interesting. Yes, the towers happen to not have a significant location but this supercannon gimmick would fix this. At this point I wouldnt be suprised if anet removed everything on the maps leaving nothing but wide open grass that you all could pirateship eachother one, beaquse that’s what you like. The same people who are kitten about dbl towers locations are kitten about the pvd, how does that even makes sense? why do 111 guards care about its location. Easier towers to cap translates in more enemies trying to cap it.
I would prefer to see them move the towers in DBL to be more in line/more serviceable like NWT and NET on alpine. Being able to hit another target is reason enough to want to own it and give you leverage on the map.

Wvwintel’s website is better for scouting. Suggest scouts start getting that A-game level and do away with the spam indication rectangles.
Though there are benefits. Can roleplay with that rev bandana covering your eyes. The message blinding you can be pretended to be in fact your bandana.
Conversely, you can just play as if you’ve been blinded by an opponent for less than 2 seconds. I suggest dodge.
Alpine = good.
Messages = good. It helps with scouting and it really isn’t up there that long.
… Plus the chill helicopter thing and the stealth pool are only on one map. There are three other maps without those mechanisms. Most serious fight guilds that I know of, rarely play EB.
I’m not a fan of those gimmicks either, but at least there are options.
Night capping needs to be fixed through population balancing. Not artificial multipliers.
amen to this. some matchups are just plain bad and boring when 1 server plays at one time of day and the other(s) play at another time of the day….
Thankfully it’s within your power to do that! Get like-minded guilds to spread out through the tiers!
Won’t do it? Well it’s the only way to get what you want. The choice is yours.
Otherwise be thankful Anet came up with an outside the box idea. You can’t expect Anet to play parent and force people to spread out for match parity, it’s like herding cats. They’d just get things nicely balanced and the mass migration would ensue again.
Be the change you want to see.
Run about 20 feet away. Drop a stealth trap. Stand on top of it. Be patient. Stealth ego will refuse to not try to gank you.
Kill.
Then bow.
I really like that all of these new changes have thoughtfully looked at the many-faceted ways to play WvW, and merges the new while maintaining the integrity of the old. That takes a lot of skill. It’s appreciated. Thank you.
That’s what siegerazer in citadel was for … The foothold.
Why are you chewing anyone out? As much as you dislike someone interrupting your duels, it’s important to get respect, you first have to give it. Most duellers know this and are left unmolested.
If you’re yelling at people for interrupting your duels, you’re just as guilty as the people in this thread demanding duellers stop taking up queue space.
Like I said before, it is very simple – if you see 2 people fighting 1v1, leave them be. This game is nearly 4 years old, if people don’t understand such a basic concept in WvW, they either shouldn’t be there or should be taught.
I have no problem teaching people.
Yes but your attitude about it is probably one of the reasons for the acrimony.
You demanding people play your way is equal to them demanding you blob or get out.
No wonder there’s erosion.
Be respectful. You’ll find you’ll get it in return.
Oh kitten . This one has such a nice attitude.
Just how I feel as a roamer and person who loves doing uninterrupted 1v1s. People like this person are the people who irritate me and most other people who are enjoying their fights. I usually end up having to stop a fight, let the person I am dueling kill the person who jumped in or end up chewing out the person who jumped in if they managed to kill the person I was fighting.

Hrm, I will have to go experiment. I hadn’t noticed this, maybe it’s assuming you’re cancelling action?
You have to be actively using the siege to see the damage numbers. It still hits, still does damage, you just aren’t seeing the numbers because you’ve jumped off too quickly.
You need to mix up the match ups a lot more. Things are gonna get stale real quick
They tried that with the Swiss tournaments and people flipped out.
