Lol welcome to sPiken
Hope you brought your extra padding, we tend to dive into blobs regardless of numbers, lol.
From last friday you like to avoid fights and rather do some spawn killing. The famous piken crew, lmao
Really? I wasn’t on much last week but played all yesterday and it was yolo as usual for us. Perhaps we were on different maps?
It was on EB, very sad and not very Piken like. Spawn blobbing our entrance while Deso tried to take our keep. And this went on for about an hour
Ah we’ve been bandwagoned a bit, lots of new faces, and EB is usually where all the new folks go. Piken doesn’t normally do that, you know that. Bear with us, growing pains.
Gosh he even says it in his sig line, and they always fall for it. lol
smh

I need to order some popcorn I think

People have been reporting that the new Desert BL is large. Perhaps the plan is to only have EB and only one copy of the Desert BL?
And even if this isn’t the plan, maybe it’s something to consider (depending on how “fair” the three keep layouts are).
Yeah… That wont work unless the new maps support about 1000 people. Which would be fun, it’ll play at about 5 fps and allow you to pop a skill every 5 minute, given the fact that GW2 just barely cope with 50 players at the same spot.
Really really really test this out with real bodies on the map, rather than virtualizations or projections.
Really really really hope they test various map caps for playability, with players from all over the world — including SEA/OCX which seems the hardest hit by big blobs.
Remember the bug where you’d jump on a piece of siege and it WOULD NOT LET YOU GO!?
lol, ah good times.
If they make WvW like EoTM, I will just stop playing it.
Half the beauty of WvW is creating and nurturing a team that you can rely on over time.
Its still WvW but the environment is more engaging like EoTM.
I don’t find EoTM engaging.
You zone in, you don’t have your regular teammates, it’s a shuffle to see who you get each week, reliable folks you know you can count on to get stuff done are on another version of the map … this pretty much will be the death of scouting/cooperation/teamwork — and onward to mindless blobbing with random strangers.
Meh. No thanks.
I think when he said engaging he meant content wise. You’ll still have the same server and everything just like now, there’ll just be more stuff to do and activate there such as turning into a Hound of Balthazar for example is similar to the Kodan change in EOTM.
Yes, exactly thank you. There is more content in the new borderlands than the Alpine maps.
Ok thank you. That makes me feel a bit better
I adore most of the people on my server, I’d hate to lose a single one of them to overflow.

Take all the videos, pix, etc to reddit. They don’t mod that. Then maybe media will pick up on it and another public execution will ensue.
If your voice isn’t being heard here, you have tons of other outlets.

Actually for anyone considering moving anywhere, I’d highly recommend reading the various servers’ match threads on gw2wvw.net. While those threads are certainly most attractive for trolls n’ such, it does give you a decent idea of what map will be like and what it would be like to play on that server.
There’s four different maps though.
This would be the WvW equivalent of a clown car convention.
Or just either know your wvw food and not press F .. or have Anet add a small popup to food trays indicating stats.
Don’t be mindless.
I’ll bet the skill-less germans would love this. They use sieges like there is no tomorow. :P
Could melt them with an organized condi focused force i think.
I would think SFR would actually be throwing confetti. Last time we faced them, they used no fewer than 250 golems in a week. Omegas mostly, too.
We apologise, but our main golems guys were off that week, usually it’s over 1000…
+1
:)

lol, love this!
Golems themselves could be expandable, coming with a basic form of skills, but having specific upgraded versions available if you
Dev logs into GW2 forum every day.
Sees wall of complaints. Nothing positive.
Invents Golem event week.
Don`t think they aren`t reading.
SFR brought about 25 omegas to Hills one match in a four hour period — and all 25 died before they hit inner.
It`s actually good practise — conditions on golems wipe them super fast.
Perhaps there was a glut of golems on the market and not moving — this is incentive to purge a few
Yes, but having spent a month experimenting, I KNOW there are still effective ways to counter. Just have to test yourself.
I came back from a break to discover the new fovs.
Try this thread. It may help:

In my experience, it usually means you have a whopping 10 players on map and they have a blob big enough to create orange swords (which can be anything from 25 up).
You don’t have full supply by this time in the week?
I usually just do the math for them: incoming dolys means they never put an actual dent in the overall supply. Rams are on shorter timer than reg siege — 15 mins. So this guy building is like a guy on a sinking boat manically using a teacup to bail out water.
Worse case, take video, capture your efforts to whisper to him and his replies with screenshots, and then file a ticket.
pick piken if you want to be Vizunah 2.0
/fixed
Naw Troma’s back. Viz 2.0 will be Viz 2.0.
They’re steadily climbing
Or grab one and stand up top and fire off missiles into the blob of angry red guys
Bonus: Using the fire spin on those 50 seems to kill a lot of them while protecting your lord
Multiply that by three and you get a nice enemy souffle!
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Park three in your lords room.
Use them defensively. They’re quite effective.
A little off-topic, but as an NA player, I actually find the lag/ping better in EU than I do on my NA account. It’s puzzling. But someone suggested because I’m East Coast has something to do with it.
I’m pretty sure caps depend on not just number of players, but also minions — necro, guardian, ranger, etc. (maybe minis too) — because they all consume server resources.
Anet will never admit it because it’ll cause a ton of outrage.
I read a most amusing extension of this idea the other week, with one player adamantly claiming that siege took up player space. It made me chuckle.
The class pets I recall Devs saying they take marginal space. The minis? Not so sure, they do help with lag tho if dismissed.
I remember a while back a golem party with 50 golems and not enough people to man them because they got capped. People suspected golems contributed in some way to the cap.
This was in a lower tier server, in an enemy BL so it was unlikely there were tons of people running around contributing to the map cap.
It’s not so outrageous to believe that siege contribute to the cap as they do take up server resources. Who knows though. Well, Anet of course, but they don’t communicate.
Yes, but I’ve also witnessed first-hand SFR and Elona (oh Elona loves loves its golems lol), with 50 golem marches and a full map blob. Many, many times.
So perhaps a bug that day?
Oh c’mon folks. Let’s talk about this academically rather than dismissively
Let’s say Anet makes each tower and keep lord’s bags claimable like World Bosses and Jumping Puzzle chests — once a day per account.
What would be the fallout?
Those purely in WvW for the loot (haha! I know, but some are silly enough to be), would do one tour of the map and then log out.
Those purely in WvW for defensive play would find a sudden drop in enemy attacks, and would likely get bored themselves and log out.
I propose instead the mischievous server player — instead of letting the ktrain have open access around the map, gather up a few friends, build some siege, then stand defiantly at the gates raining down a hail of arrows and trebuchet shots. The other server will puzzle over the fact that the tower isn’t empty and an “easy get”, think there’s some kind of going back on the deal, and subsequent rage will infect map chat and WvW battles will ensue!
Cheers!
Edited to add: I’ve been part of a group of six who successfully defended a tower vs an 80 blob over and over. It IS possible, just have to really really know your siege placement
Go on! Give ’em heck!
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Try EU.
Completely different style of play.
Edit: Just saw you’re on GH .. odd, EU tends to be better than NA on this matter. Maybe just a phase?

I can confirm I`m not seeing it working either, sadly.
I miss having four trait lines to use and having choices that were meaningful.
I know there’s a wvw category on trebs that give you soothing mist .. was there a treb nearby being used?
I scout/build/upgrade for 8 hours a day.
Thirty minutes of that day I will try to find a nice duel — the purpose is not some bravado thing, it’s to improve my skillset. Most of the duellers have an unwritten code that you only down your partner, not kill — so you can get back up and learn from mistakes and try to improve. In my opinion, you can only get better in your class by duelling because you can identify the mistakes you’re making much easier, than if you mindlessly blob.
Maguuma: the Antisec of GW2.
OP, it used to be almost every server EU had decent roaming, but that seems to have stopped, at least in gold league. It still happens, there’s lot of duels (and most EU folks respect duels), it just seems there’s a lot more blobs too lately.
I’d recommend asking someone in Silver League — typically they have a good mixture of roamers there.
Yes but the decoy and prestige are self-only and do have a shorter timer cooldown, but do not affect any other players — so even if they paired up, they could only invis a group for 14 seconds total (each) — and mass invis has a 90 second cooldown. Veil is 90 seconds as well. (And decoy is 40 seconds, prestige is the only fast one really at 30 seconds).
So I can’t see how they could permastealth. Something else is up there.
Prestige comes off cd a lot faster, with torch trait each second in stealth reduced the cd of torch skill by 1 1/2 sec, so after 12 seconds of stealth prestige is up again.
f(x)= 30secCD – (x * 1,5) – x=y
30 – (x * 1,5) – x = 0 |-30
=> -x * 1,5 – x = -30 | t
=> x (-1,5 – 1) = -30 | /-2,5
=> x= 12secCDon reddit someone said it’s possible for a singel mesmer, to get 47 sec of stealth. after this he will be visible for a few seconds.
Only 47? That is not the optimum. With MI, Torch (traited), Mimic and Decoy a PU Mesmer alone can get 57s of stealth.
But after even that amount of time, they will be revealed, because everything is on cool down. So basically count to 60, then voila.
It’s interesting the different views between NA and EU players on this.
Very nice Tingle
I flagged Anet on this about two months ago, sent them those videos, and it was given directly to the WVW dev.. There’s been no fix. You have to assume it’s intended, and find creative ways to combat it.
Glass is half full.
Yes but ACs have always been able to go through walls, even since launch.
That’s nothing new.
It is new. The ability to target through walls was not there previously. Inner hills was generally safe from acs outside the outer walls.
It’s possible you just didn’t notice before, but you could always use ACs through walls. Since launch.
One controversial oldie was the ability to shoot from inner lords Hills to outside and nuke the invaders.
What has changed is the camera angle. I’m not fond of it. But I assure you there still exists defensive placement for all towers and keeps that can hide from the new fov and still be effective. I know because I found them… Time to experiment

I’d absolutely hate having an EOTM-type WvW scene.
One of the best things in WvW is establishing teamwork and relationship. If you do the three mega servers, your chances of playing with the same “team” every week are slim.
I’d rather the players took responsibility and spread out on the servers instead of stacking. It really makes no difference if you’re the No1 server of the No24 (except by a population measure) — it’s just a number. Players should want to spread out to ensure good fights and not focus on the actual tier.
So you are saying that acs outside the outer wall destroying defensive siege on the inner wall of, say, hills, is a feature, not a bug? That is the way it was intended?
Yep, sadly, it’s as intended. Since they changed the fov for everyone, it’s all fair game. But you can work around it. I spent a month figuring out new siege placement in the face of the new obscene fov angles, and you can successfully do it.
Here use this post I had in another thread on zoom hacking to help you plan:
I was surprised by the new camera angles after returning from a year away from game.
Someone was kind enough to post these, so you can review and adjust your siege defense accordingly. I spent a month puzzling out new placement, but it’s possible, if not the most ideal.
Here’s the post:
It’s been a while since the camera changes but apperently the “fighting” servers aren’t up to date. Get some inspiration from the germans :

Hill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IqNW-WyQ_s

Personally I wish they’d just revert to the old camera views. In the past, players had creative ways to deal with those few who had three monitor setups: they’d be flagged the moment they got onto map and mercilessly killed first, over and over.
