Yep. We faced both SFR and Viz three times. Four out of seven matches with one or the other, or both. SFR and Viz only faced each other twice.

Doesn’t matter though. I don’t think anyone had any grand expectations going in

what your saying is no longer possible as there have been massive shifts in the population, as stated in places in the past people have been stacking servers, both on their own or through the incentive of gold

What I don’t get is people leaving the match half way through. Do they get penalized? Or are they bailing to prevent a permanent mark on their record?

I doubt it will be any harder to get than ascended weapons. I have 6 already purely from doing stuff in WvW. If you’ve been collecting all that crap since they introduced ascended weapons, you should have more than enough by now to make several weapons. I rarely do anything in PvE except when a friend wants me to do an occasional fractal with them. And I’m really, really lazy when it comes to crafting and grinding for gear. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it.

I don’t zerg. I still don’t have my first weapon. But I suppose that’s my choice of play. I just really dislike zerging, and if the gear is gotten the same way, I likely will never get it

I don’t zerg either. i’m roaming solo or with my guild most of the time. and my guild is only like 5 people. You just have to pay attention to map chat. when someone says they’re taking a tower, run over and get in on it. that’s what I do.

Yeah sadly, I’m often on the opposite side of the map scouting when they are flipping towers and keeps, watching enemy movement. It’s ok, it’s my choice, and what I feel contributes most to my server. Because of the way I play (and I know I’m not alone out there), I will likely never get ascended gear. Will just have to improve my skill on my class to compensate.

I finally dipped my toe in today.

It pretty much works, for me, just like fight club in WvW. The mechanics were instantly recognizable, the points were easy to understand, the fights were fast and fun. (No deaths so far, even with my wonky hybrid build!)

I may become hopelessly addicted.

I miss you, Krait. I miss swimming in the water, cueing the “Jaws” music, and hunting for angry red guys. I miss seeing you zerg up with about ten of your friends and take out a single guy trying to swim to garrison.

what would really kick kitten (although its been said not possible) if a platinum league consisted of top 3 EU vs NA top 3 and the rest of the league stay as they are in relative regions just more focused on balancing the coverage of them.

People must be forgetting how horrid the matches were before league.

See I think that is a brilliant idea. Only issue is top three NA and top two EU have reasonable 24 hour coverage. Everyone in EU would be fighting to avoid being that third EU server because nobody has comparable population. It’d be boring as heck for that last server.

Although after this week, and having faced both BG (was a while ago though) and Viz, I think it could be a more competitive match than I predicted in another thread a while back. I’d actually would love to see a Viz/BG/SFR or Viz/BG/JQ match. I think it would be something.

Personally I think more people should be afraid of necros. There’s this one necro in Second Law that, lol, if I see him coming I know I’m doomed. I still dive in and try every single time, but man, I’m usually eating dirt in under 15 seconds. He’s the reason I manically search out solo necros to try to improve.

Hi there thought I’d create a topic with one central list of those who are always looking for friendly duels in various matches.

Typically I’ll ask for duels during match threads and have had some success that way, but wanted to create a skeleton list that people could refer to in changing matchups. I like to have friendly duels because I think they offer both parties the chance to improve skillsets in a quasi-controlled environment. Great way to make new friends, too.

Fight club rules — /bow by both parties indicating accepting duel and start, only play until one party is downed (no spiking!), best of three rounds (minimum). Location up to mutually agreed spot.

Indicate your interest and the server you play on, and what time you generally play.

Now I know a lot of folks think duel, go spvp. Most duels last 10 minutes, tops, and gives you a quick break from WvW without having to requeue.

I guess it won’t be that bad, it wasn’t a big deal to face opponents with leech/fortitude wearing only two ascended trinkets and none of those buffs.

Something for me to shoot for I guess.

What I have found is there’s so many subtle and nuanced aspects of each class, that for the most part, it takes a good chunk of play time to actually master.

Mesmers, for example, are abysmal to level up and die over and over until I’d say about level 30.

Other classes, you’ll have that “lightbulb” moment where every aspect of the class and how the mechanics interact suddenly clicks. You can test out all the classes, but you won’t fully know them until you play each a while. Best bet is to pick what you normally like to play — be it ranged or melee — and then explore that class at least until level 30.

What feels like a weak class initially can be turned into something powerful, given enough time and exploration.

This is the best server recruitment post SoS could ever have. It says a lot about their community.

Was thinking condition damage .. I run a mesmer and have never lost a duel to a warrior. Figured it’d be the same thing. Necros too. Ele’s have condition damage with earth stance.

My main is a mesmer. I have all classes at 80. I’m like you, I greatly enjoy the versatility of the mesmer — you can roam or jump in the big epic fights.

After mesmer, my most favourite is necro. But until you master it, it’s a bit of a trick to do solo (although I have seen some spectacular necro roamers). I need to get better at it, but I enjoy it greatly in a big zerg. I rarely zerg, but when I do, I tend to break out the necro.

Well I can only speak for myself and say that while the forum warriors certainly did provide motivation, I don’t believe there was ever any hate. For me, any ppt motivation was just a personal “you can’t have my stuff!” And prior to the leagues starting, any discussion about SFR centred around strategy and nothing else.

I think many went into the leagues without any great expectations. And you know when there’s no great expectations, there’s just a willingness to get out there and do the best you can without the added pressure of omg we have to win! Heck we looked at the season sked and knew we had the toughest pairings of any server out there, so expecting something different would have been an exercise of frustration.

So while that may motivate other servers, it wasn’t the same on Piken, as far as I saw.

It says play 7 weeks, complete meta = reward key for reward chest. Reward chest contents based on server rank. No where does it say 4,5,6 get nothing.

I can’t comment at this time as we haven’t finalized anything. In addition, you should look at it this way, if people flee lower league servers to get into the top leagues, it opens the opportunity for people to move to those lower leagues and finish 1st or 2nd, rather than being in the top league and finishing 6th or 7th. The rewards for finishing 2nd in the Bronze League will be markedly better than the rewards for finishing 6th in the Gold league.

I don’t think Piken had any opinion outside of strategy about SFR (and I’m speaking from general conversations and posts on our forum).

Only people I see using words like “hate” and “punish” has been SFR. Even now.

was exactly the same with sfr in our matchup against piken in week 5 we purely focused them and riverside was free to do what they wished that they attacked piken was their own choice we didnt care what they did but you also accuse us of double teaming piken in week 5. Week 6 was a bit different though we only started focusing jade sea on the last few days of the week despite what everyone seems to think everyone seems to forget how we built a wp inside elonas eb keep and flipped their garri almost every single day at prime, we were forced to make jade sea come third in that matchup due to how the league works but no one in the server even had that goal in mind until the last few days of the matchup just like how you now want us in third place so that jade sea can come second you are playing the league in the exact same way

Well Piken never accused anyone for double teaming and it is understood as double focus and general strategy. What i do not understand is why SFR hate Piken because of week 1. When in week 5 RS decided to focus Piken we never had an exchange of rage with RS due to that. they are simply doing what they can.

thats because piken already disliked sfr from before the league which is prob explains the behaviour in week one we just reaffirmed this hatred and made it stronger in week 5 which made you focus on us and not riverside. We didnt blame viznunah in week 1 either because we understood why they focused us piken should have understood why we focused them in week 5 but yet they vowed revenge on us after it and that is displayed in this matchup also some piken did accuse us of double teaming them in week 5 matchup just like some sfr are now 10 people posting on forums dont represent an entire 1000 man wvw community though sfr seem to be the only server that understands this

You get a bonus chest each time you rank up an wxp level. They will remain stored and used as you get each level. Not sure if this works with new wxp toons though.

Yes but how do you measure that? Wxp levels? I know people at 400 wxp who couldn’t lead people out of a paper bag. And anyone can mindlessly follow a Zerg and grind levels. Hours in WvW? Better, but could still be the same thing….

Maybe a commander personal story that’s quite challenging? Complete a series of quests (that teach WvW as you progress) then when you complete it you can unlock the tag (still 100 gold)?

If we are making wishes, aside from those already mentioned, it would be great if there was a command attached to the tag that gives you a body count on the map the commander currently is on.

This is how I picture most in WvW

Try a cata, seemed to work quickly for me.

As much as that would be pretty, the added particle effects I think would impact lag/latency in WvW.

Go find a tower wall, build a cata, hit the wall. Every three hits with the cata gives you one point towards this I believe (you may need to get the wall down for it to total up). I got it done entirely in about an hour, solo running supply to my own cata and hitting the walls, and getting them down, by myself. (Guild catas off the trading post only require 25 supply so it’s faster).

And before you complain, I’m in tier 1 and have actually done this on reset before vs Viz and SFR and totally alone without a zerg. You can do it. Just read the map and find a sneaky spot.

Or best of all… why not introduce guild halls and introduce tons of furnishings and such guilds could use to decorate it. You could then make a ‘empty’ and instanced border land in a kind of ‘2 forts’ layout with one guild’s keep on each end so guilds could actually war other guilds and attempt to steal the enemy’s banner which you could then put on display in your own guild keep.

Anet is really missing out on a ton of revenue, not just guild halls, but individual player housing, too. Everquest 2 is up to 25 different themed player housing that people pay $25-30 for … each. Most players own multiple homes.

Add to the Christmas decorated towers: sell in sets of 10 charges, given how frequently most towers flip.

Shhh be grateful for a bit at least … More bees with honey and all that …
