Some sort of title for helping players through lower scales would be sufficient in this regard and would not cause any outcrys i dont think.. ( one can always hope lol )

I think it´s a very good idea. Yesterday I tried to find a group for lvl 3, but after an hour! of waiting (on two servers!, one member was searching on the overflow), I gave up. I think the problem will get worse in a couple of weeks. So such a system is definitely needed.

I even do not understand why Anet implemented it that way as it is now. Why not allowing players to play the doungeon at the level of the highest player level?

I’m seeing a lot of people unable to get groups in their difficulty range, or taking a night off and then finding their guild or usual group has zoomed on ahead and left them behind.

I think the new dungeon is great but I think this difficulty requirement is a big problem. I’m not a casual player, but I feel bad for any who are.

I beleive in my humble opinion of course that it was implemented With players not being able to scale up, in order to encourage players to work through the dungeon themselves. also having it done the original way would probably not lessen the acheivement of actually getting to the very highest scales/levels.. IE: whats the point of getting there if i can just join a group for hhighest reqards anyway kind of thing..

This is why one of my suggestions has a limit of 5 levels above or a limit of the average between all players and going with that. also iot should not stop those players progressing on there own paths. The higher levels should not progress on there scales by doing lower scaled ones but the lower scaled players should progress by doing the higher scaled instances.. The reason for this is that the high scaled players will still get there rewards. The lower scaled players wont be able to cheat and go for higher scales just for bigger reqards..

Its literally an idea to stop alot of the frustration, if they implement this then people can just jump straight in and not worry to much.

Yeh. Its what alot are complaining about and i think this could be a simple temporary fix at the very least in order to assuage alot of players feelings at the moment towards this content being gated.

From my perspective, the style of World of Warcraft is kind of like the minor leagues of gaming. There is a lot of competition and everyone is competing to be the best. The pinnacle is to get to the big leagues which is raiding. It’s content that not everyone will see or be a part of and only the best of the best get there and the best rewards goes to those who get there. I played wow for years and was burned out and treated poorly by other players because I didn’t have what it takes to get there. This style fits for some people, and I understand the appeal, it’s just not for me.

The style of Guild Wars is more like the movie Sandlot. You play hard but no one is keeping score and stats don’t matter much. Everyone gets their time at bat and you play not to reach some goal but just because it’s fun. Guild wars had this niche and a lot of people got this game because it wasn’t like wow and it felt like home to me.

But things are changing to try to cater to a bigger audience but it’s a huge mistake because it’s not possible to make both styles happy. GW2 is moving towards wow light and GW2 is going to be second rate because wow does this style better. There is going to be those that want the wow style of always progressing and reaching for the next best thing so that they can be the best and be a step above everyone else. Once they reach the top it will not be enough because sooner or later it will not be exclusive enough. Those that don’t play the rat race will be left behind sitting the bench. You already split the community and whatever you decide to do now…it will not end well.

I dissagree with pretty much all of what you said here. Ill mention a couple of areas so as you can see my line of thought…

I think guild wars 2 is a completley different kind of game to wow, its not and will never be wow light. Too many people make comparisons with modern games to wow which i think is inherently wrong and gives a false impression, which then other weaker minded individuals(this is not an insult pls do not take it as such) pick up on.

I feel there is alot to work towards in this game and yes it is fun to play but there has and always be something to progress towards. If that is cosemtic or stat it will always be in our games and will never go away. Its what keeps us playing no matter how well disguised it is.

I think that reaching the top is the start of a game not the end. For instanmce once you have reached this pinaacle you can then help others reach it.

You shouldent feel bad about that as you will get downlevelled and they are working on rewards to malke them better for endgame charcters

Well OP, they said this wouldent be a full map like other maps and is only the start with more to be built upon later.

Also bear in mind the respawns are not as good for farming here as everyone was complaining about the respawns in the 80 zones we already have..

The events tho, i agree they could be balanced better.

Kitten is the word that the language philter puts in place of offensive words or word combinations, they do this to keep the forums a nicer place to be and also to try to take away and reduce some of the offensive fire that these words can bring to a discussion

My view on this is a simple one, I do still play althoug not as much as I have been playing, i have several reasons for this that have compunded together to prevent me logging in.

1, i fell out with my old guild as i felt the work and time that I was putting in was not being appreciated. ( i dont work for praise but appreciation is different and politeness goes a long way). After i left i changed server and joined a new guild.

2, I was very dissapointed with the lag that we had on the event. i felt a little like a guinea pig tbh and I cant help but wonder if they dident do enough server load tests during open beta. Also I think they couldent have had enough time to implement a fix for this so the event went ahead and was poor, really really poor.. I would prefer a re-run of it instance based for groups of 10 players maybe.

3,The forums that i check every day before i log into the game proper are full of negative angry posts. I dont blame you for being angry and negative but theres not much constructive critisism going on right now, its mostly just knee jerk reactions to other peoples views and posts. Not all of thwese posts are correct either, io urge all of you to read the references and material and make your own judgement without any peer pressure. This being the case it kind of puts me on a downer before i start playing.

4, several new titles have been released (single player games). Dishonoured, Assassins creed, sniper V2, Hitman absolution, Need for speed most wanted, medal of honour warfighter, endless space to name but a few and i have been working my way through these new titles and will return to gw2 nice and fresh again after i complete these fully

5, Alot of new movies and tv series are out like walking dead, arrow, game of thrones, skyfall, flight to name a few and i have been watching these and trying to catch up

6, its coming uop to christmas and its a busy time of year for everybody im sure but specially so if you have wee snappers to think about and occupy your time.

7, I have some personal issues that im taking care of at the moment a lawsuit being one of them and this takes alot of my time.

So as you can see although im slightly dissapointed by anets performance during the event I have alot of other interests thatare detracting from my game time. So this is not my main cause of less playtime but certainly is a small factor in the whole…

you know that teso uses the hero engine?, no content can make right what an awful engine destroys, have fun lagging with more then 10 people on screen.

lol man u read one thing and then take that thing and place completley out of context… They designed there own engine and used the hero engine only as a working platform to throw ideas around and get the ball rolling.. They also have designed there new engine and also charcter models and effects to allow more than 200 on the screen at the same time. Anyways…

Why not let players who are on lower fractal levels scale up by a max of 5 levels from there current level?

This will stop ALOT of the fractal lvl requirement spam which is actually preventing some players enjoying the dungeon. Almost like its gated in a way, i know you dont want this anet.

If the 3 fractals are completed then the lower fractal players would still go up one level as normal. Yes it may be harder for them but they will get more rewards as its depper in the dungeon.

Another way to implement this measure would be to have the lower fractal lvl players scale up to an average of the groups fractal lvls instead of scaling to the highest lvl in the group by a maxium of 5.

I wasent clear but i would like some input from the community on this, what do you think of the idea? yes/no? with explantion or more ideas to implement would be cool thanks.

This is also true, but it would be nice to have a recvipe to upgrade your exotics to ascended.

The option of changing the circle colors is reasonable.
Lowering the skill level of the game for a vast majority of people just to compensate for a group that make up less than 1% of the gamers is not reasonable.

Love this idea, there could be many many different random events that may or may not happen the trip... mutiny is another cool one... maybe a rare mini dungeon adventure on rare occasions..

One thing ill say tho is the only time this would be mandatory would be the first time you go... After that you can WP to the island as normal or do the boat again its up to you!

The incentive should be in the form of a reward once at the island.

That is more than ENOUGH proof that level 80 gear was never going to have more stats. If this was an expansion, ok, I can bare with it and more levels and new zones, but this aint an expansion pack.

Issue solved, remove ascended or match the stats to exotics and legendaries to make them optional and not a must.

As to the calls for refund. I hope you realise you have a very slim chance of getting a refund if anet wanted to make it difficult for you (which they are not). Technically you should have stopped playing straight away otherwise the chances increase that your only entitled to damages…

Anet is a good company I really beleive this, I mean they could have made it difficult for people wanting refunds but they have gone out of there way to provide a suitable system for it.

So now you want to not play and not be left behind in stats or gear… oh dear… C’mon if you dont play the gae for 3 months or whatnot ofc you will be left behind, thats perfectly normal and expected…

This game becomes Gear Wars, just like that other game and all it’s clones.

The only ascended gear being released today is a piece or two…. ill go back and read maybe ive been up to long and im off my rocker o.O. But if they release say 2 pieces every 3 months….. the situation you outlined above is really not gonna happen because most will go after the new pieces.

Most who are at the level cap, who have full sets of good gear (rare or exotic), who enjoy dungeons, who want to grind for Ascended gear (which based on their reasoning will be more difficult than exotics, less than legendary), and who have the privilege to play the game over the next couple months.

Anyone who does not fall into ALL of those categories will be left behind.

Look… If you expect to NOT play this game and still be on par with everyobne your having a pipe dream. I cant beleive that anyone would egnuinley think that would be acceptable. If you dont play the game EXPECT to be l eft behind its perfectly natural. This smacks of people who want everything but dont want to put the effort in.

It does not matter if pvp is excluded or it does not affect this or that. PVE, PVP and WVW are all part of what makes GW2 fun and great, when 1 part is affected the rest will too be affected, eg. if PVE was affected and less players joins this game, you will see less new comers on the PVP maps.

The way I see it, the coming hours will determine the make or break of this great game which I enjoyed immensely:

They either A: pull the update and go back to the drawing board or B: go ahead with the update anyway despite the fact that almost over 9000 negative feed backs on the forum.

Result from going A:
The community will again put our faith back to the company and hope they will not make the same mistake again, and both the company and the community will come out of this mess stronger.

Results from going B:
Content grinders will eat up everything within a very short time and complain on the forum that there is “no end game” then leaves. Loyal fans will be displeased, alienated and forced to quit because we were sold a lie.

I think this is a little over dramatised. I do not think loyal fans will leave the game over this. Ones with money to spend anyway. If this was true then those loyal fans as you put it would not in fact be loyal at all. They havent been sold a lie, read the manifesto. I linked it in an earlier post.
