I am not denying WSR effort during this matchup, but I think they are enjoying us nad RoS going for each other all the time I think, last serious attack on WSR BL (at least around primetime/early night, when I usually play) was at Saturday. Their keeps didn’t flip since 2-3 days :P

My memory of WSR is that they defend like daemons anyway… might find that helping them keep their stuff T3 all the time.

Anyway I’d like to fight RoF again soon, WSR too… Nice to face the old enemy every now and again, and it’s great not having all the flaming that comes with a RoS matchup, even if they are usually pretty close between us.

Well, yet having big respect and sympathy for HON and great love for Nubu and BNF, there repeatedly were things about some commanders that did not reflect my view of fair baviour in a matchup. No more details need to be exposed here. Throwing dirt doesnt help anybody. Dzagonur is a great server with many very good and nice people.

Then, I also felt bored a lot besides of the smallscale events.
Sure in primetime I have huge blobbs here, but still I have the most exciting fights in ages. Because the lakes are so crowded, that almost every 1v1/2 turns in 1vX and every 5v10 turns into 5vs the entire map. This keeps me thrilled and on my toes right now.

So it was a combination of several things. I am very sure we all will meet on the battlefield again though. They already paired you with Riverside. Maybe Kodasch is next? :P

We’re just used to the flame infested threads with RoS we’ve had of late… Certainly not used to our enemies not jumping on every post in here to start off a circular flamewar. Makes a refreshing change.

Not been able to play thus far due to exams… but will be back on Thursday ready to die lots

The point is the deviation between the top and the bottom has become huge. We’re not going to see fair representations with the rating evolution for a while until the lower tier servers have gained enough points and the higher tier servers lost enough.
This will of course mean that a few awful matchups will appear every week but in the long run it should work out better in general.

its weird because i still think we are the strongest server of RoS Dzag GH and every week against Surmia we find ourselves losing being badly doubleteamed while never having that problem in other matchups.

You’ve beaten us once(?) in all the matches we’ve had, and you still can’t admit a simple fact. Quite a strong ego you got there.

I’m not saying GH players are bad, not at all. Our better coverage and steady WvW population just puts us a bit ahead of GH.

I think now with all your leavers there is a chance we might be ahead of you overall. It’s hard to know for sure until we get a match where we can actually properly compete.
I think we’re pretty identically matched atm. This matchup has shown it.

When we pull together we have the potential to annihilate you at primetime as we showed last night… but we’re just not able to keep that up for a whole week and we can’t compete with your coverage so in return you annihilate us in those times. It’s a pretty nice balance really

Our original server events at the start of the year contained organised pwn groups of 10 people. Them were the days

To be honest, my experience of this matchup has been in a few phases:

First few days, we didn’t give a second thought to Surmia. We just hit everyone as hard as could and came out of the weekend with RoS in a distant third and a little private whispering that maybe we could push Millers for an utterly surprising win.

Next few days we get nightcapped into oblivion and get pushed into our own distant third. We don’t bother targeting anyone as we’re not in a position to do so – we just try and get as many points as we can and rebuild our shattered keeps.

Towards the end of the week we’ve somehow kept the gap close so we decide to go all out to see if it’s possible to close it. We co-ordinate across all four maps to keep Millers busy and to distract RoS as much as possible while we go wild in their borderlands. After a few wipes it’s very successful, we nearly catch up, but Millers then decide to crush us into oblivion again because they think they lose more points if we’re second (they don’t ofc, but I can see why they’d think so).

From our end there’s been very little ‘hatred’ compared to previous matchups with RoS where our private forums and mapchat have been full of RoS talk.

Would be interesting if you’d guested with us this week (on a fictional WvW guesting system :p) so you could see it from our end, it doesn’t quite tally with your interpretation of what we’ve been doing I’m not trying to make any kind of point here or say you’re wrong, just telling you how it felt from our side!

I think we “officially” decided to only hit ROS once they overtook us because it made tactical sense to try and get them as low as possible because our coverage couldn’t compete with Millers. EB in particular has been hit very hard by them all week.

And by officially I mean it was taked about on our forums

In all fairness… MS attacked GH bl last night after we had turned it all blue because everything had paper doors. They took the bl from RoS not GH. They took RoS bl hills just before the upgrade came to an end but ignored the rest of the bl because everything had reached t2.

Yeh if you read it again I said Millers EB crew.

It’s been the case all week of Millers spawn camping us in our corner of EB while RoS have the run of our borderland with a few exceptions. We now know the reason for that decision

And also we had a large group of MS in our bl the whole time we were attacking you in yours. Fortunately in events like this we can pull enough numbers to have a presence on all 4 maps. It doesn’t happen often though.

Was an amazing push from us last night. RoS bl was heavily fortified with a large number of defenders but we got there in the end. Lot’s of fun from our point of view, and I’m sure RoS enjoyed wiping us inside Bay and Hills before we could eventually cap them.

Logged off at about 1.30 after the satisfying experience of getting RoS ticking zero, despite the last 50 ppt or so being PvD. We were <1k behind at that point but alas woke up to find Millers EB lot had decided we weren’t allowed 2nd place

No matter we did ourselves proud and RoS put up a great fight this week capitalising fully on our weaknesses so well deserved 2nd place.
Grats on Millers too for the inevitable stroll to victory.

Who knows, next time we face RoS we may get favourable 3rd server who’ll let us give you guys a real run for your money

Once they get killed by 100 AM’s this week, they are no were to be seen, and we have no queues =D

I think if we didnt have so many pugs, we would fit excellent in this matchup. Many guilds to figths and outside IC and Yak most guilds have less then 15/20 people when in having their raid such as the Banana’s (TDA).

That week vs. GH was one of the best weeks I’ve had in ages and currently no match has since has surpassed that.

A lot of people seem convinced that GH has nobody online in the night, as if your entire server turns off the light and closes the door behind them for 8 hours. It’s never nobody, you still have people capping & defending at night, just less.
How is it so much worse that you’re outnumbered at night, and totally fine that we’re outnumbered during primetime? Most nights it’s no more PvD for us than it is for you at primetime.

Also, regarding the comments that seem to happen in these matchup threads, whining just makes me want to focus on whichever server complains the most. So in the end, you’re proving yourself right. I want GH to lose.

Please note, I say “I”. I don’t belong to any big guild and speak only for myself. No big conspiracy here, sorry folks.

Asides from all this, it’s just tactics. Of course most people will go after the opponent they’ve got the best chance against. Sucks if it happens to be you, but that’s the game.

I’m pretty sure when you say “I” your sentiment is shared by alot of people on both sides.

But yeh we do have some people online obviously…. often its a case of 4 people manning 3 bls and a handful of people in eb though. Early mornings are usually worst for us

Anyway seems our numbers are hit pretty bad this week for whatever reason. And it’s only going to get worse with the new pve content sucking all our PvXers away.

Of course it is. And we have done many times. Sieges just take much longer now relying on draining supply and clearing enemy siege.
For me long sieges are the best part of the game (and no im not talking about standing on one spot trebbing for hours). Frankly the old karma train meta of run up to gate drop 3 rams and stand in hale of arrows and kitten got very old very quickly.
since the ac patch ive found a whole host of new places to put siege that i didnt know before

We’ve had zero to no night activity for 6 months, I think we managed to deal with it just fine. At least now we won’t have to worry about all our keeps being gone every single morning in any semi-competitive matchup.
And about beating players to take a keep, they killed that with the AC patch. Not only that but if you look closely to what has been happening in EB for the past 3 days you’ll realize the hypocrisy in that statement.
IMO strategy should play a much larger role in WvW then it currently does. Tactics and manpower, including the difference in skill, should come 2nd.

Well that’s exactly what the AC patch has introduced. An increase in strategy required to take a keep rather than just kitten the door down with 60 people which is what was happening prepatch.

Millers seem to have some guilds who run 15-20 instead of the usual zergs im used to from de servers. That said there tactic seems to be hit whoever is weakest at that point in time. Tactically very smart but less fun.
They are quiet on here mind.

You spend all day fighting to capture/hold SM against all odds, then it gets taken by a group who only had a couple of moas and a confused Aussie pug to contend with… and they get the same score guarding it from NPCs as you did for all your heroic efforts guarding it from zergs all evening :p

On a serious note though Star seems to have exploded… I can understand his annoyances though. Very frustrating watching the live map knowing theres nothing you can do. And id rather every match up we have against ros not to turn into ros vs gh vs noonecaresbecausewewontattackthem

Well apart from that 1 week when they got all those transfers and we stopped playing for points that has been the case everytime we faced surmia. We dont have the numbers in the day/overnight to compete with them

We just have a quite ok coverage 24/7 so that we are able to make a lot of points at night and that’s it.

If we’d be matched in T2/3 we’d be quite answerless to their 24/7 coverage with HUGE numbers of players.

Well from what ive taken from the matchup so far millers have the biggeat numbersp. Maybe its a weekend thing and theyll even out in the week though

Right now were under a really heavy focus of both gunnars and millers and i dont think we will be able to achieve a victory simply because we cant always pull out all recources we have, rl goes first.
From our point of view its definetly not an even matchup – we had one last week, but maybe its just that i have a strange definition for equality of all teams actually having close scores to each other which is not the case right now.

IMO RoS isn’t really that strong at primetime/weekends. It’s the smaller scale stuff where we usually shine.

Even if you dont attack anything you can still take a camp or hit supplylines down the road. Theres no way of knowing your intentions and if its red its dead.

Yes its extremely annoying but its part of the game. Not fair to judge millers for something every server would do.

I think we really need to give this time. Prior to the random matchup t7 eu was a black hole where facing new servers in t6 and above was an impossible dream. Last week the two winners of t7 in the previous two weeks in gh and ros went to t4 and t6 respectively. Gh, facing the r8 and r10 servers should have been thumped and while we were comprehensively defeated we still gained 120k+ points and gained 60 points in glicko.
Meanwhile ros fought in what must have been the closest 3way fight in gw2 history to finish 2nd in their t6 battle.
Now both of us are facing millers who are 6/7 places higher and competing nicely.

While there will be some horrible mismatches in the shortterm it should bring a good balance of stability and variation in the tiers and matches in the long term. I for one like the new matchup system

Have to say I enjoyed fighting ms on our bl yesterday. Manageable group size (alot smaller than RS for example) in the zergs and then some very strong small groups to boot.

I think you would be ganked by alot of servers. Its not fun but its part of the game. Certainly if i see 2 mesmers heading north i immediately assume theyre going for my camps

Yeh we had many scrambled close calls defending it. Getting in and just stopping the cap long enough for prxm or soe to get there

RoS were actually outmanned on our bl and were pretty ineffective there. The only thing of note that happened from RoS pov on our bl while i was playing was them ninja capping our hills while alot of us were getting close to the end of our night and had stopped paying alot of attention

actually, now i think about it.. What they should do is make WP automatically appear once u cap a Keep and change the WP upgrade so that it means that the WP is available even if the keep is being attacked.

That would be too OP imo. Having a second long window is one thing but always open would make attacking a keep impossible. There would be a never ending supply of enemies while you try and cap the keep in the LR

Only viable if the waypoint stayed contested, while under attack, without a few second window for an entire zerg to port in.

You need someone in there to call out the timers for those people to hit that window though, unless you want to sit there for potentially 3 minutes spamming the wp?

I like the wps uncontesting… makes it alot more challenging to take a T3 keep, and if you’re being hit at Bay and Hills at the same time you have much better chance of being able to keep both.

Also having to run from the one end of the map to the other is such a pain. Removing the wps would be such a drag imo

We need incentives to actually fight people.

People are in their own bls in the lower tiers. It’s not like it’s just PVD through an empty bl, there will be defenders in primetime. And if you do hit an empty keep well that server will have to bring players to recap it and bam there’s your fights

Why would Piken need 25ish invaders and 6 golems (yes i did say 6) to take on 15 people in GH BL at 1pm on a friday afternoon? All the places you took were T1. you could have easily PVdoored your way in.

Your own BL is 1/2 owned by RS, yet you feel the need to karma train through our BL. I thought more of PS than this.
