So how is the roaming population in this Tier?

Fuggin DB/Yaks are horrible players and only offer a challenge when grossly out numbering you.

Personally I don’t care about the score or who holds what % of the maps.

I’m just saddened by the zerg mentality of DB/Yak. Hard to find a solo/roamer at all……o well we’ll move down next week mayhap I’ll find a better crew

Welp had some fun in the DB BL tonight.

After the zerg’n got outta the way opened up for some nice roaming fights. Some good fights, but some of you Yak’s need to relax after getting your kitten pushed in.

Strange occurrences today in Eternal Battlegrounds. We took Stonemist from Dragonbrand late afternoon/early evening. Ehmry wasn’t even bothering to treb the northern walls, which was a bit weird since that’s the first thing you do when you play red. When we breached inner SM, Ehmry made no push of their own to take it. Instead they sent a group to cut off Yak’s reinforcements coming into SM.

Later when we had it, they trebbed in earnest, knocking down the north wall and pushing inner hard. Defending it against Ebay allowed DB of course to knock down gates as well, creating a 3 way. Once all 3 teams were inside SM, Ebay decided to give up on SM and golem rush our keep, forcing a number of us to defend it. Essentially handing SM to DB entering their asian prime time.

So, without passing judgement here, just recounting events; that’s what happened. Anyone from Ehmry care to explain your strategy for today?

Partying with an enemy..I see it like a bug, all other features were turned off except this one. You can easily spy an enemy zerg, just put your party spy in the zergs and watch them moving on map. That’s not the worst part, the kiddies duelers messing up is the cherry on top.

You know you don’t have to accept the join request…..

That being said most players you talk to are honestly looking for build/class help.

Most people I do this to are cool….cept some Yak peeps. They get all bent outta shape after dying…..especially if ya just stomped them in the middle of thier zerg.

You don’t need condition removal in stealth because sword shadowstep removes conditions. HiS removes I believe 2 conditions. Shadowstep (the skill) removes 3-5 conditions I think counting the shadowreturn.

Better to have init with 2 init on stealth, critical haste, shadow rejuv…

Don’t need that much acrobatics. Might on stealth, really? That’s like what an extra 50 damage maybe ? It stacks of course with other things but I find being fast as kitten in stealth is better than anything else. Even if they have 33% speed, you are faster than your target and landing a BS or Daze is no problem. Landing those skills over and over is what wins fights.

You should pick up the 30CS and get 100% crit from stealth and drop acrobatics imo. Change your might on dodge to stealth speed.

Then go out there and backstab noobs like crazy and swap sword when you need control, cond removal, daze.

Normally I would say bad things about his build, and give him better advice

I would like to take this time to say do not listen to this kittenty player. He sucked in DAoC and watching one of his thief videos shows me his suck has continued in this game.

My take on Sword as a thief.

It is NOT a “Pro” weapon choice. It is merely an EASIER way to play a thief.

I stay dagger at this juncture b/c

1. I hate pve and buying new equipment is tehsuq

2. I really like killing people in the middle of a zerg. (Stomp and all)

D/D has the fast TTK out of all our weapon sets. It is also the easiest countered weapon set that thieves possess. There are so many cons to running D/D compared to the other weapon sets…..its not even funny.

I have tons of more respect for a thief that is using D/D and taking on multiple opponents than a S/D P/D D/P etc.

You all can disagree and post w/e you want, but the truth is the truth.

I’ve used ambush in sPvP before…infact the build I run (which is super cheesy) utilizes ambush.

But

In WvW its all about mobility. Ambush works great against certain classes’ builds, but in 85% of your PvP encounters in WvW ambush is more of a hindrance than help.

They need to decrease the health of the downed state.

The amount of health you get is redunk.

Its funny to see Yak’s complain about DB off hours coverage when they themselves can only win in this tier due to this. Last week we saw DB stifle their off hour advantage…They lost the match

Most of the mags I know are out there just to PvP. They tend to prefer player kills to pvdoor and will purposely target areas with an enemy zerg rather than try to avoid them.
I’m sure you’ve just been on the receiving end of a good old fashioned kitten jamming.

Nope the only mags i’ve seen doing anything is taking Ebay stuff.

Also no mag presence in Yak BL…only Mags are defending home and flipping Ebay territory in Eternal.

Thieves are fine and its quite frankly just a l2p issue.

Some FYI’s:

Increasing the ini cost of CnD will pretty much kill all versatility with the class. Already you can only use 2 CnD per full ini bar unless you have spent your traits on it

But if you look your traits to increase this are in lines that do not pertain to burst damage /holywtfbbqsauceinthaface!!!

Its the reason p/d cond builds are FAR superior to BS builds

I’ve waken up and all and it seems DH garrison is still intact (helped def for 6hrs before going to sleep, 4hrs later upon waking it’s alive!). Props to Livebait and Flint Iron Fist who took over after Andrew, and to Littlefeather a bit later <3

There are quite a bit of Ebay thieves that solo.

Sometimes tho ya just have to group up b/c the 5-10 players you are fighting picked up 1-2 that actually know how to play.

it wasnt that dragonbrand moved up as much as ehmry moved down, but good fights tonight ehrmy, i was the single commander out there tonight in bp border and eb my followers were listening like a dream always fun to command those types of groups
looks like we had a good showing tonight we were running 60 ppl at midnight and prolly 50 at 2 am pst, looks like people are getting home from their travels expect a hard push till the finish ehmry, gonna close some points a bit.
overall it was good fights this week you guys are very coordinated

What’s funny is during reset I’ve yet to see a server be able to match what Ebay does. If we actually had the numbers/guilds/computergeekbasementdwellars that the higher tier servers got we’d be pretty high up the tier ladder.

Personally though i believe that the lower tiers hold more player skill than the upper tiers….so i’m happy down here =)

In large group fights thieves tend to struggle quite a bit, so if you run smaller groups and often take on larger groups there is one thing a thief excels at:

stomping people
ressing people

that should be the thiefs sole purpose.

A good thief will be finishing targets off or in the middle of their group sowing confusion and panick.

My guild was running 5 and we came across a small zerg of players (15-20) I was the only thief and basically I was seperate from the rest in the enemies back lines.

It works wonders since people tend to panick when they start dying on both sides.

Eventually tho the zerg doubled or more and wiped us…..we dropped a kitten ton of em and I was the only one to live

You need to re-read the post. No where did I say I was killing people from 100% to 0% and then promptly stomping them.

No what I said was finish people off (this means they were either downed or very injured when engaged). That is what the thief was developed to do.

If your talking about a stealth stomp than you need to ditch your class envy b/c ele’s can mist stomp, Wars can invuln stomp, etc. Those are tons more effective than stealth stomping.

I use D/D in 1v1 fights sure, but in groups or during a siege or defense it is ALL about the shortbow. They can nerf D/D to complete uselessness and I will still have great use in WvW on my thief. More times than I can remember a downed enemy starts to get ressed by 2 teammates, then its good ol’ Haste + Trick shot spam = 3 downed players.

Thieves can be versatile to a point

If they’re running 1v1 Assassin-style builds, sure.

You can’t really complain about being weak in large scale combat if you’re specced away from it. There are several viable thief setups that work great in large-scale combat, they just give up some of that 1v1 burst to do so.
