I think it would have been better to install a separate prologue instead of many of the changes designed to benefit new players in the feature pack – this could have been done with a default character for which ever race/class you picked just with option of male or female, and then once completed you can get on to the main game, and design your character properly.
The starter area’s have lost a lot of their epic-ness, and are too easy for experienced players, for example the champion at the Morgan’s Spiral area offered a challenging experience for 1-2 players, now as just a veteran it is a bit disappointing to fight.
Other things don’t make sense for instance you don’t start with underwater gear. You get that at level 8. You aren’t able to be ‘downed’ until 5. And when you are, you only have access to 1 and 4 on the bar.
The first heart events have been pointlessly dumbed down (No more buckets of water or feed bags. You walk up and “tend” each plant, or dance for the cows)
Also the dodging help tutorial still shows up when making new characters, as well as the beginner tool tips on how to move etc, this should be removed after making your first character.
Unlocking skills over levels also does not make sense, it was more fun, and just as easy to unlock them over time instead of over 10 levels. At least before you had chance to slowly get used to a weapon while unlocking the skills through killing mobs etc, now a new player changes weapon for the first time, and has 5 brand new skills to use right away which could confuse them, also not being downed, and then only being downed with 2 skills sounds confusing as well.
I think ANET should have made a special prologue that brand new players had to complete first that dealt with unlocking skills, dodging, using weapons, picking up buckets etc instead of changing the whole game, or at least more of these changes should be locked out once you have leveled a character so your not told how to press WASD or how to change every time you want to restart for example.
My new characters are still being told how to dodge, how to move etc, and can still do the dodging tutorial, although opening the chest doesn’t give any items.

Even though I have unlimted frame rates on, its not going past 60 at the moment, and the game feels laggy sometimes. Used to average frame rates around 70-100 unless it was in a big zerg.
Happened to me too, couldn’t find a vortex crystal. Then I checked on here and the whole thing reset, which fixed it I guess….
The shop keeper in the tailor section doesn’t sell them, its very strange this wasn’t announced as a change

So I randomly talked to one of the trainers in queensdale, near the city, and she said I didn’t have enough experience, my character is level 80, although was levelled down to level 5.
You should still be able to talk to them to see what traits you can unlock.

I Think outfits are good value for money in that they are free to apply, however
They have re-released outfits you could already buy and said they are new…like the witch and mad king.
The older outfits came with toys such as a broom stick, and scepter for costume brawl, the lich outfit comes on its own with no add ons but costs the same price.
The Char and ausra outfits are male only versions, so you pretty much have topless female Ausras, and the Char lose the tail!
You can’t mix and match outfits, but okay you can hide the hood on the lich outfit?
Can’t they make armour and outfit skins so there is choice, so you have the same skin thats both armour and outfit. and its been ages since there was free content updates, everything is gemstore.

To answer your question if new players were getting overwhelmed with the way things were taught(or lack thereof) before. Yes.
The new dodge thing is good and some of the explanations. But I don’t think waiting till level 10 to use 5 skills is easier at all.

World completion is bugged
This character has never been to Caledon Forest but it is showing as some areas completed.
“Skill challenges now unlock on an account-wide basis rather than a per-character basis as originally intended.”
Does that mean you only get each skill point once? Thats horrible! How are you meant to get all the skill points you need if you have multiple characters
I felt that the game was pretty well explained before, they had the first hour of gameplay in the online manual which was pretty helpful to.
The new compass thing is pretty good to point you towards events though, and its nice you can turn it off. But I think things were dumbed down to much, and locked behind levels.
And the issue with the vista’s and skill challenges not showing up if you had made a new character already was just fixed.
I’m happy they made these changes
“Utility slot skills 2 and 3 now unlock at levels 17 and 19, respectively.
The elite slot skill now unlocks at level 31.”
But still think they locked too much content for new characters behind levelling which they said they wouldn’t as they wanted the early game to be as good as the end game!
Bring back learning weapon skills by using that weapon, and why on earth are breathers and under water combat now rewards when they were there from level 1 before! And stop putting silly things like viewing vista’s as rewards.
I do like the new levelling rewards such as the loot bags, and higher level weapons etc, however are new players really that bad they need all this help?
As someone who likes making new characters I am disappointed with the early grind, and it did not feel faster to get to level 15, in fact it was slower.
Also dancing with cows and pouring non-existent buckets of water over hey bails is very immersive breaking.
Some things feel very artificial now.

No swimming either? They have just locked too much content behind levels.
Points of interests, Vistas, off hand weapons etc are not rewards. They were there from level 1 before!

Having started a new character I think they dumbed down the game down too much.
1- Unlocking weapon skills over levels instead of time wasn’t needed, it was more fun unlocking the skills over time and having them all to choose from instead of them over 10 levels.
2- starting the story at level 10- Shouldn’t it be upto the player if they want to start it early, or play higher level content than they level there at.
3- random dumbing down of things – like no harvesting nodes in the starting areas? And why can’t you use buckets of water or animal feed anymore, I mean dancing for cows? Thats just silly. It wasn’t hard to pick up the feed and then go over to the cow, or the same with the buckets of water.
I like the new backpacks idea. but most of them look stupid- They need to work on their looks designing.
Overall the game was not hard before so it didn’t need dumbing down, and now you have removed content and limited player choice which I don’t like to see.
Please think about the changes and what’s best for current players not just new players.
I’d like it if skins you bought off the trading post for armours, were free to apply multiple times like outfits.
At the moment I wear a skin for a few levels, and then have to change armour, go to reapply and it costs 5 stones, which is a lot when you only have 20 or so.
Unless I have been doing it wrong. I think unlocked skins costing Transmutation stones is fine, but not stuff I paid real money for and want to use again.
I do think they are changing the lower level game too much, and that you shouldn’t need to have the suggestions with the green arrows telling you where to go in the world, as one example. Also I think some things will hurt players in the long run, like when they suddenly get downed at level 5? and then when the rally assist stops working they will have a harder time, and what happens before level 5, are you just dead?
Also some of the changes seem a bit confusing like the instant unlock of all weapon skills, there was nothing wrong with the current system, and instant unlock doesn’t make sense for example, you unlock the skills on a bow, and can then instantly use all skills on axes and swords etc, and also moving around skills and the skill unlocks could make it seem like progression is slower than before, like weapon swapping is now later? And elite skills will be later to, seems like it will be more ‘grinding’ to get to the good stuff.
Also not all of the changes make things as easier as they said, for example “Our last feature pack also changed traits to no longer require going to a merchant and buying a book at each tier to unlock them; you unlock a tier for free as soon as you reach the appropriate level.”
Its not easy to unlock all the actual trait skills sometimes as that seems to suggest, and they are really expensive f you dont unlock them by doing the map completions and such.
I do enjoy making new characters and starting over, I have only had two level 80 characters, nearly 3, so the new story rewards will hopefully be good, but I do hope there is new content for all players, for example craftable aqua breathers, and an expansion announcement, more free skin rewards etc.
How long did they wait to release an expansion after GW1 anyway?
Also I think I good change would be to make skins bought from the TP free all the time to transmute, not just the once as it uses a lot of stones very fast to keep transmuting.

Broadwell is the same socket 1150 as haswell so hope there will be some support on current motherboards.
If you can get an SSD as well. 250GB ones are quite cheap now, also maybe a larger case
Yes you can re-use but you do have to use the transmutation charges. Its annoying if you use it for just a few levels. :O
Are they in your wardrobe as skins?
Personally I’ve not had any lag, and I have been playing alot mostly in Queensdale and Orr though. Even big events on orr caused little lag.
Now world bosses are on specific timers, there should be some kind of living world event about them, or if they fail they shouldn’t just disappear, without effecting the world.
You could have the landscape changed while they were up, for example villages or forts attacked, and there would be follow up events to re-build them.
Check all your drivers first, make sure they are updated. Are you overclocking higher than the boost? You could try it on the default settings.
You could try deleting the dat file in users/yourname/appdata/roaming/guildwars and see if that changes the settings like that. Its re-made when you start the client.
Hello, Anet have said that this can be caused by your Computer autoclocking, and the CPU turbo boosting itself.
They are not running any more major support as far as I know, they are still doing the automatic tournaments and events and stuff and patching bug fixes, but making it compatible with the latest windows probably won’t happen, won’t it run in compatibility mode?
Well solved. Out of 8 sticks of ram i tested, 2 failed testing by MEMTEST, once with two errors, and one with 3, with one being a major error, another ram stick failed completely and would not even start the PC.
Bit disappointed with Corsair;s quality control.
There is no point getting a K chip if you’re not overclocking. It will be cheaper getting the non overclocking one. I’d say the Nvidia GTX 770, if you can afford the GTX 780, then pay the extra and get the TI.

I had similar problems but memtest found errors on the ram, swapping the ram seemed to have fixed it.

I have got a new ram set on the way. the PC is less than a month old and Amazon are replacing the whole set of RAM so hopefully that will be fine. Its a build that’s more than capable of running the game, just weird it has only happened in character select.

All the drivers are up to date except the bios. The clock speeds of the CPU and ram change automatically depending on load. I have a Zalman liquid cooler and temperatures stay between 40 and 50 degrees on the CPU
CPU usage seems to be at 34% Ram around 20%
If the PC was idle and the cpu speed decreased in to idle mode, the game could think the hardware failed or could there be a problem with the memory.
