1)Livia is not a Sylvari. Scarlet (the suspicious figure is almost certainly her) is a sylvari.
2)Livia doesn’t have the Scepter of Orr anymore (according to Sea of Sorrows)
3)Livia loves Kryta, why would she want to see it burn?

Now onto more specific things….

“What if” something went down and she found out the queen was “corrupt” and did not want to serve her any longer and now wants her de-throned/killed. What if the Queen knew Livia knew her plans and removed her from the Shining Blade causing Livia to rebel against her.

Ok, why would she have “hard lessons” to teach to the people of Divinity’s Reach then? Rebel against the queen by harming all of Kryta (which she would sacrifice her own life for) isn’t something Livia would do.

Maybe Scarlet(Livia) isn’t even an enemy after all. The queen may be corrupt and we need to help take her down. She does have that giant chunk of a bloodstone in her throne room which kinda weirds me out. Gives me a heavy white mantle feeling.

Nothing says that the rock is a bloodstone.

Although it is widely assumed that the Mursaat are in the Isles of Janthir up north, and the what’s left of the white mantle is in the Maguuma Jungle to the west. I would almost bet they would go back to ring of fire after getting the scepter and try to control the Titans again. Thus sending us there for the next big zone release next year.

The mursaat never controlled the titans. They used the blood of the chosen to keep the door of komalie closed, to keep the titans trapped. Also, the Realm of Torment (where the titans come from) is now the Redeemed Realm (Kormir’s realm). They may not even exist anymore.

In 250 years, I could see Livia being able to master a new profession, and one of the professions that Anet wants to use pretty badly is the Chronomancer, maybe in 250 years, Livia has mastered the art, thus letting her bring stuff from the future and then manipulates it with the scepter of orr. This would also explain how she lived for such a LONG time. It could also just be her necromancy darks arts at work too.

Where does anet say they want the Chronomancer badly? Also, Livia isn’t the only person to achieve longevity. Does that mean they are all time travelling chronomancers?

Then again i could be all wrong, and Livia is dead/not scarlet, the scepter is missing, the Queen is good, and scarlet is an actual bad person.

She’s not killing krytans yet…just interrupting celebrations in the krytan area, and the big one that is kitten ing her off is the one that shows support to the Queen. Aetherblades attacking Zephyr Sanctum though would be a little weird, unless she is trying to prevent the queen from having a krytan on the LA council and a trade partner with the supposed new protectors of Glint’s baby according to WoodenPotatoes

A Hard Lesson could be that “Hey, you’ve supported a corrupt Queen for 10 years”

Wrong about the Ring of Fire i will give you that…perhaps we head into the Maguuma Jungle

another thing is the Shining Blade is supposed to be the protector’s of the queen…but all of a sudden there is the Seraph Honor Guard who is now protecting the queen, and the watchknights to help protect as well….as if they are about to beef up for a big battle….and why are the shining blade suddenly gone, and not there to protect the queen in a dire time in the crown pavillion?

We find out in Sea of Sorrows that Livia was still alive an astonishing many, many of years later, and was still the leader of the Shining Blade guarding the Queen.

As of GW2, something went awry and she is no longer the leader.(or she died) What happened?

The scepter of Orr comes into play here. It can manipulate the hell out of stuff…it was once used to control the titans in the Ring of Fire, so I’m sure it can be used to control two factions into making an agreement for a time so Livia can hatch her plan. Dredge+Fire Legion, Pirates+Inquest

I’m not sure if it is known if the Scepter of Orr is still in Livia’s control, but let’s say for a moment that she does have it and during this Battle FOR Divinity’s Reach…she loses it or has it stolen and it gets into the hands of the white mantle.

Arenanet have said they want to use the White Mantle/Mursaat again in the future, but it has to be an epic entrance for such a popular and old school faction.

The moral of the story is elitists are stupid for using AP as a basis of skill, which makes no sense because I could accrue 10k AP just doing dailies and jumping puzzles and never stepping foot in a dungeon.

At least in WoW people would check “gearscore” to see, but it at least made sense because how did you get a high enough gearscore to deem worthy? By already having done said dungeons/raids to get that high item level gear.

At the end of the day, AP nor Gearscore=Skill and you should probably look for dungeon masters for smooth runs but even that can be rough because they may have been carried through the dungeon by guildies, or they are just having an off day or memory of fights has faded since then. I know I haven’t ran a dungeon since finishing all paths of explorable for each dungeon.

Hi there, I’m using Axe+Shield right now to chain together “On my mark!”, Shield Bash, and Eviscerate with Signet of Rage and it is working out good with 13-15k eviscerates popping up….but i really like having Axe 5 for AoE situations

anyone got a link to a build or builds for it?

@ Nike: This is a coupon that is being given to people for playing since launch, and continuing to play a year later on that same character. You would think they would want to give out a coupon that 100% of the recipiants could use rather than one that 20% can use, for those who have a chr slot open to try out an alt.

yea but it’s not like it isn’t as easy as spending 5-8g and just leveling cooking/artificing/jewelcrafting

levels in this game are practically given to you already…i could spend 40 bucks on gems to get 80g and just level to max through crafting….which would actually hurt Anet if they would change it to what i’d like them to change it to

I feel like 20 levels is a bit much. That’s skipping past a lot of content.
Its one thing pushing an alt from 1 to 20 but a character from 50 to 70 for a one year birthday? Nah. Heck, I am pretty sure I have a character somewhere that is almost a year old and not 80 yet lol.

1 to 20 and 50 to 70 is skipping pretty much the exact same content…the story lines are parted by 10’s….so your skipping two story arcs either way you look at it…plus your doing it on an alt so you’ve already seen the content anyways

They couldn’t do that and still have them be half as common as they are now. If you don’t need the scrolls for unlocking skills on characters, you can always use the skill points to buy stuff for forge recipes. Get crystals for upgrading mats, guides for upgrading siege equipment, an eldritch scroll to craft mystic forge exotics, or philosopher’s stones to work on clovers for a legendary.

You do get an “experience scroll” in the 5000 point achievement chest that jumps a character to level 20 as you wish.

The OP is not talking about the scrolls that drop from the champion loot bags, which award skill points. He’s talking about the Scroll of Experience that you get on the birthday of your character. The assumption is that it is the same scroll as the one in the 5,000 and 10,000 AP chests. What the OP wants is a scroll that gives 20 levels ups to a character of any level. That is, instead of being “levels up from x to 20”, he wants “levels up from x to x+20”, such as from 50 to 70.

I mean you can keep the 5,000 and 10,000 AP chests the same as “x to 20”…but for our chrs birthday you could give us one that does “x + 20” meaning i could use it at 50 and still profit from it

However i could see the problem of getting 8 of these if you made 8 chrs on Aug 25th. So make them soulbound, and if that persons chr is at lvl 80, they get 20 skill points.

Change it to “grants 20 levels of experience”!

I have all my chr slots maxed with characters all around the lvl 50 range….with 3 80’s….so the scroll of experience is worthless to me

this way people who are trying a new class in a spare chr slot can get to 20 instantly or faithful players can get a 50 alt to 80 faster

try mixing axe with shield…or hammer….gives you some CC while still doing dps

Basically…I want to dual wield swords like a boss….but i’m not really feeling warrior as apparently condi damage is the way to go with them…

is there are power/precision build i can build Knight’s with that have you dual wielding swords?

I want to be a ranged damage dealer….and since the staff is apparently very support driven…is scepter the only other option and if so…what do i use in the offhand, dagger or focus?

The Great Collapse is where the art district used to be (lore wise, in the lore there never was a canthan district)

Several times. I guess you refer to the man who trains beasts? It’s mentioned only in that one conversation that there is a cantha district in DR. My guess is that it’s a left over from before the decision to remove the district but even if it isn’t, the area where the great collapse is has been confirmed by devs to have been the arts district and NPCs there (obviously added after the change was made so not a left over) mention that it used to be the arts district.

So, I might have been wrong in that there is no Canthan district but if it is (and the dialogue in the personal story quest isn’t just something that wasn’t changed) then it’s not an accessible district and thus not in the game.

Then what about the direct mention of a Canthan district in Ghosts of Ascalon (including an allusion to one in the previous chapter as well).

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the Guild Wars 2 series of books supposed to be canon lore? The contents of which are alluded to multiple times within the game? If so, why do they expect us to just sit back quietly while they rewrite (without being truthful about it) a significant part of the lore?

The very least they could do is admit they’re retconning it instead of just saying it’s never existed.

The mention of it in the book is also likely due to a canthan district having been planned to be included, I’m not sure when the decision to scrap it was taken but considering Ghosts of Ascalon was published 2010 it might very well have been afterwards.

The books are indeed, IIRC, meant to be canon so one guess is – as I mentioned in my previous post – that there exists a canthan district somewhere in Divinity’s Reach but it’s not accessible in the game (looking at art of DR as well as how it looks from Queensdale I think there are zones we haven’t seen (yet)).

there is an Ossan Quarter which has plenty of buildings that take influence from what we saw in Elona in GW1

so DR gave its own section to the people of Elona…i’m sure they gave the exact same amount of space to the people of cantha….which were there because when Zhaitan rose, the Canthans that were already in the Continent of Tyria could not return home

also the Canthans are being forced to turn their back on the other races of the world of tyria because of a dictatorship rule

its just when Anet had that “hiccup” with NCsoft about not stereotyping asians, they had to scrap what was in the game already (which actually, the great collapse make fun of them for having a nasty sewer system which created the sink hole)…retconned and made up that it was an Art District instead

because in gw1 minis were special and there was many that were insanely pricy and even if you had the crazy amount of cash ppl were asking them for, you first needed to even find a person who’s looking to sell one (mini kanaxai as an example) which could take you months. Here not only anet is spamming so many minis that none of them feel rare and unique but i could bet you that you wouldn’t even be able to sell the ones given for bday because gw2 is all about dat acc bound bs.

in gw1…ur bday present really was all about the lottery…you could either strike it rich…or bust pretty hard…kinda gave you a rush right before you opened it

I am usually one who is harping about dragon content….and even I would take some SAB content to hold me over for a bit…that thing was sweet and i want to see the rest of the story.

while i believe BF4 and WvW are the superior to the other…that run back and slow paced action turns me off everytime…running for 10 mins with no action =\= fun…..i like a more fast paced game type

idk…but it has does technically have to be on your end….there are plenty of people out there on different internet connections/computers that have zero lag spikes at all through this content…

i know this is usually a rude thing to say on the interwebz…but it might be time to look into upgrading your computer or switching internet providers…something on your end either inside your connection or computer can’t handle the animations

from the sounds of it, i think it may be your processor…because the game has location checks to prevent hacking/cheating in the game…everytime you use one of those skills…meaning your processor may be going into overload

also, you can go ahead and get that upgraded because when culling is ended in PvE…your really going to be glad you did

they are saying there are 4 live development teams active right now….

this is so that when dev team one releases their content in april, dev team 2 gets may, dev team 3 gets june, dev team 4 gets july….thus giving dev team 1, 3 months to develop content for august….

so if i had to guess…we’ll be seeing it sometime in august IF we don’t get the crystal desert update that everyone is speculating

I mean..you have to sacrifice offensive stats for some defensive stats if your a beserker and you have to sacrifice defensive stats for some offensive stats if your the tanky prefix.

What is this?

1. “Competitive AP Score”? You play the game to enjoy yourself, why does your PERSONAL AP number have to be higher than another persons? That’s a serious case of “my willy is bigger than yours!” The 500 AP just helps GW1 players get their rewards a bit faster.

2. 50/50 HoM took some serious time….and in some cases lots of plat…they deserve that, Achievements were not as easy as GW2’s “Witness Fireworks at X time”….it was usually 9 ranks of something EXTREMELY grindy

3. No one cares what your personal AP score is but yourself. I might see someone with over 10k right now and think “Hmm, impressive” but then i go about my life and couldn’t even tell you what the person’s in game name is.

4. If your so AP “competitive”, then you would LOVE the opportunity to have EVEN MORE achievements to pursue by getting GW1 and having even more game content to play! COMPETITION TO THE EXTREME!!!

The achievement rewards system….

I would give my unborn child to be able to adventure with my Rainbow Phoenix again….and just like in GW1, you could unlock him through achievements in GW2!

It’s unlocked once by the account, can be found in all home instances, but is limited to once per day per account for harvesting.

maybe i misunderstood what he said then….he said in the video “The Quartz node unlocks for your account and any character you have will be able to mine Quartz once a day” around 19:25

yeah…the top of those rock spires look like the old cantha carpentry

so you won’t play guardian because you can’t play with a 1h sword…but i didn’t think ele’s could use 1h swords

anyways…if you really like 1h swords, the mesmer has a pretty good build around 1h sword/pistol i believe

in order of who i want to see?

Jormag – not as epic as other dragons as we have seen
Primordus – just to get the fire stuff over with, also destroyers suck
Bubbles – This boss fight better revolve around us battling him in a whirlpool
Kralkatorrik – Has the potential for the best boss fight, re-enacting the fight from the books

most e-sport or MLG games….have one thing in common….no consistant pve game that plays from the updated pvp versions

all of those games have no living PvE side…two of them have campaigns, but you can just load the campaign with the launch version of balance and not give a care in the world at all….

if gw2 keeps pushing e-sports, im thinking the pve side will die

yeah…i don’t think it could work…oculus is more for first person games…third person would be rough still having a mouse to change ur camera all the way around (your not the exorcist)….so i think the camera could bug out quite a bit

also…really the only commands you would have is…turn head left to turn camera that way, and turn head right to turn camera that way…..looking up isn’t going to make you look up into the sky….

although i think the oculus rift would be amazing for a third person RTS game…being able to feel like a God looking down at the lands

So since launch, we haven’t heard a single solitary thing about the elder dragons, in any of the living story.

In the Flame and Frost…i thought for sure it was going to head in the direction of Jormag…but sadly it was just flame legion + mole people…

In dragon bash, the event seemed to remind us, “Oh yeah, there are elder dragons out there making everyones life a living hell, but lets fight sky pirates instead!”

Will the elder dragons pop up in the living story, or will they only be added in those expansions they will eventually talk about?

If they haven’t even started on an expansion, I would assume its probably at least a year til we see it, and I feel like 2 years to fight another elder dragon could be too long of a wait for people.

i went pretty big….though it does double as my living rooms TV as well since i watch most of my shows from the internet

don’t really think this is going to work…

for most people….the character that is that far down on their list…is there because they don’t play it often because they don’t find it fun….or in my case, it’s my ranger that was nerfed all to hell

i’m usually focused when im gaming…i never alt tab out for anything so i went with a much larger one screen monitor, rather than 2 smaller monitors……..

except for this one thing in gw2…

so idk about buying a 2nd 800-900 dollar monitor for something that should be coming in game soon…thus becoming useless after that

so i though that door going out of LA was to the dominion of wind? it goes to an Aetherblade place instead?

more importantly, are the Tengu assisting the Aetherblade by giving them a place for their base of operations?? XD

I know it has to be coming. It was confirmed back in February or March.

I mean, I like gw2lfg….but it would be a nice quality of life improvement to just do that exact same thing except in the games UI…alt tabbing is kitten…

maybe i can be hopeful next patch since AoE looting got through this time….so some QoL improvements are beginning to roll out

Necromancers were once believed to be a joke class….an afterthought…one of the worst classes in the game.

They are now probably the 2nd or 3rd strongest class in the game, definitely up there with Warriors, Mesmers, and Thieves now…

if you’re the coward abandoning your ranger at the moment, or if your the shield trying to block out all the nerf hammer blows and keep going

just know, that we may too get the update that will put us with those among the stars

and you will be glad you didn’t delete that character after you jumped ship

and you will be glad you didn’t jump ship and you stayed true to your ranger the entire time

not a fan of steampunk…but glad others got something they liked!

you have to remember…this is technically Dragon Bash Part Deux…idk even know why they gave it a different name…all it really added was a dungeon to end the events that happened in Dragon Bash

Even your very first paragraph has issues. It seems impossible for them do to anything without breaking something. Have you ever PLAYED another MMO before. This is standard fare. You neglected to say how long it took them to fix that particular error you pointed out. You neglected to say they compensated people for that error. This shows bias on the part of the reviewer.

Your profession analysis is basic but misleading at least, and really bad at worst. You say the ranger is OP in Pve? Maybe in open world stuff, but that doesn’t really apply do dungeons does it? Or are you saying dungeons aren’t PVe?

You say thieves are invisible 90% of the time. Care to back that up? Many thieves build without putting too much into stealth, but you neglect to mention this.

The warrior doesn’t reign supreme in SPvP or even WvW. I have no idea why you would say something like that.

In your section on dynamic events, you leave out the dynamic event chains that are most interesting, such as the long event chain in Straits of Devastation or the Malchor’s Leap even chain, which not only has an interesting story, but adds challenge to the game. In fact there are many event chains that you ignore in your desire to paint the whole game with one brush.

I get it, you don’t like the game, ergo you’re biased and leaving out anything decent. Your very choice of language calls your judgement into question.

I’d say that I’d rate this review 4/10 (4 for the effort). For accuracy alone, I’d go less. Bias is bias.
