They’re extremely poor at telling any kind of story worth listening to so let it to devs such as rockstar/naughty dog. Simple missions that you’re doing with groups AND NOT SOLO would be enough
Since you have said numerous times on these forums that you skipped through all the dialog how would you know?
I also support scalable dungeons since some people prefer to solo and some prefer 5 mans, best of both right? To the OP: As much as I would love an expansion it is too soon for that- Anet said that they will not release expansions on the same timetable as GW and will focus more on the living Story with continuous updates.
Personally I feel that they are only warming up to the concept and are testing out how they want to do things, while getting the infrastructure in place.
If you look at F&F and now Southsun you can definitely see that they are listening and that they are evolving.Don’t forget that it is entirely possible to open more maps and add more story with the Living World mechanism
I think we will be in for a very fun ride in the next couple of months.
also Anet can add in those dragons within the living story….think about all these refugees we have…there are 3 places these refugees could go…Maguuma Jungle, Crystal Desert, and Northern Shiverpeaks(back to their home)….but these places are all inhabited by Elder Dragons at the moment….
and since expansions usually have an entirely new continent in them, at least for GW and Anet…it would seem kinda weird to release an expansion when there are still elder dragons in Tyria
we get rid of the dragons, refugees have homes, tyrias problems solved, time for an expansion
man…i always find it funny when people try to tell a company how to run their company
when what they did in the first place, got you to buy the game
i guess their marketing worked huh?
i don’t quite understand why they used that phrase after what colin said….but in the end your a gamer, play the game and quit worrying about it…that’s what Arenanet gets paid to do
if you want to help run arenanet…go get your degree in marketing and apply for a job
make town clothes usable in combat
make bikini town clothes
battle hordes of monsters in a bikini
3 easy steps
People with jobs have less time to play and more money to spend, pay cash for gems, RNG, weapon ticket
People without jobs have more time to play and less money to spend, pay gold for gems, RNG, weapon ticket
i have a job yet still have around 300g since playing at launch….without spending a dime…i got a fused ticket with about 70g worth of gems…took around 30 or so chests….i have no regrets…..
and now im saving up for the next set of skins to b in the lions chest
Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Gambling thus requires three elements be present: consideration, chance and prize.
i’d say it is safe to assume that 99.9% of the reason they are buying them is because they want the weapon skins…that does have a chance of not showing up, so for the weapon skin…it is gambling
Consideration: You have the choice of choosing to buy chests, or not to buy them.
Chance: It is not 100% that you will get a weapon skin
Reward: Weapon Skin
it is indeed gambling, only for the weapon skin however
Found this beautifull place in Caledon forrest
man…idk…but that place just has jumping puzzle written all over it
idk…as a person going for two incenerators for my thief….
i honestly don’t know if i am going to continue doing it….sometimes the precursor looks better than the legendary….and even some exotics or limited time skins are looking much cooler than the legendaries now
it they come up with cooler skins to sale…kind of makes legendaries look less sparkly….though i will agree…juggernaut will probably never get old
we need more ideas!
I dont think it will happen anytime soon…they want you to get out and enjoy the world…not sit in your guild hall with your buddies….
although i am one of the ones who thinks guild halls should have been in the game from the beginning
kitten?
my thief does tons of burst….
man…times like this that my favorite classes are the warrior class…the stealthy class…and the ranger class make me happy
(edited by Jordo.5913)
man…those 3 borderland maps are gonna be boring….same exact map lol
So I was wondering what counts towards the 100% World Completion…
I know the main map does
does the Eternal Battleground + ALL 3 outlying WvW maps count as well?
They need a 1200m leash, they follow targets way too far, its not right.
Once they get far enough they heal like they are out of combat if there master is.
Necromancer Minions leash, Ranger pets should as well. Otherwise out of combat regeneration needs removed.
hmm…that cud be a cheap way to down me some champions pretty easily
so…barrage can hit a person up to 12 times….so if it hits a total of 5 people(the max amount of people an AoE spell can affect) for the entire duration
that is 75 ticks….
if it does 1k per hit…that is actually 75,000 to 150,000
however that is only 12k damage…24k damage if every hit crits, to each person in the AoE
however if you stands in barrage’s AoE circle for a full duration…you deserve to die….you literally have 6 seconds to get out of it…..
1) To not over-play your main character and have the mechanics become dull
2) To learn the class inside and out for PvP
3) To re-experience content that has been added since launch
I really love the gloves for the fact that they are heavy looking on medium armor (kind of like se armor) and not just another trenchcoat for my engie. I would really love to see the full set of it, would be so awesome!
re-read OP lol
gloves are able to be hid now…not talking about the gloves from the F&F achievement
glad everyone likes the idea!
but everyone needs to get off this idea of Battle of Lions Arch….i have cold sweats about the amount of mursaat in that mission
:P
so theres this thing….called gold…that you acquire in game through playing….that you can trade for gems….to get those items in the gem store
everything i have gotten in the gem store…i got through playing the game how i want to play it….and traded gold for gems….i haven’t spent a single dollar
I would love to fight the Lich again. And the great destroyer.
it would be legit….i believe the Lich fight…which actually had mechanics to it….would be the best fit for the gw2 boss fights
also…dont expect this LFG to be like WoWs where u queue…auto join the party and get teled to the dungeon….
it will probably be more like gw1 where u go to the zone the dungeon is in…and bring up a LFG interface and you can see parties looking for people and u can request to join that party
WoW didnt
Aion didnt
Tera didnt
Rift didnt
TSW didnt
SWTOR didnt
GW2 didnt
i believe thats all the MMO’s ive played…WoW didnt even have one until their 2nd expansion if memory serves me right…so at least u wont b waiting as long as them since it was confirmed that they are working on it and it will be out in the latter half of 2013 more than likely
im glad im not the only one who thought this would be cool…there sure were many missions in gw1 that cud make good fractals
You know what fractal I want?
A Battle of Lion’s Arch Fractal. That would be so awesome.
I don’t know….the amount of Mursaat in the battle….kind of gave me nightmares lol
So since fractals can pull out confrontations from any point of time or place….it could be a cool way to go back and fight the old GW1 bosses, in the GW2 skill format!
Fighting Lich on a bloodstone in the Ring of Fire.
Fighting Shiro outside a chinese looking temple.
Fighting Varresh or Abaddon in darkness.
Fighting the Great Destroyer inside a cavern with tons of lava.
Seems like they could be Fractals that could happen at say Fractal 10, 20, 30, 40…to change up the pace and repetitiveness of fractals already.
What do you guys think?
or they were planning to make it permanent….and just ran out of time to make the explorable part so they scrapped that idea…and made it a temporary story mode dungeon
so…u use a staff….and are complaining about not being able to heal? i could understand complaining if D/D but staff, really?
Stealth is a part of the game.
Adapt or die.
an ele player ready to adapt…rather than cry about that change…i applaud u good sir
ah thanks a ton! im guessing u forget backstab and start heartseeker spam once they get around 30%?
I used to think warriors are the biggest crybabies around.
I was wrong.

I came here cuz i was about to level my D/D ele alt as my warrior alt is nearing 80…and i’ve grown accustomed to the Warrior crying in that forum….but 12 of the top 15 forums posts are now about SOTG and petitioning the changes the patch are going to bring
and eles talking about lack of builds? LOL, try to play an engineer and see how well off you are as an elementalist
Well that would mean you have been trolling the forums of a class you don’t play. For what reason again?
doesn’t mean i don’t fight the class in PvP and learn what they do…nor did i say what level my D/D alt was already?
IMO, they should have just reduced the distance and not touch the CD.
Though, one thing to note that as compared to skills like Rush, RTL is not affected by Cripple. That’s a huge advantage.
And your right about cripple but if we talk about advantages and disadvantages we have to factor the gambit. There are simply more mobility options on warrior and rangers and Skills like rush and swoop can be canceled out of if need be while RtL is technically a self stun. Also skills like Rush and Swoop are affected by movement effects like Swiftness and 25% movement speed signets. However RtL is not so it is a 2 way street.
your post would be a valid argument….except, Thieves have to use their initiative…so after they burn all their initiative to go those 3000 units……they are screwed about doing anything once they get there, they can’t even weapon swap to do more damage
an ele would have a plethora of options after using those 2 weapon skills + utility skill….stay in fire or lightning to do damage…then switch to water and earth to do some more damage
But you fail to mention that in the 20 seconds while everyone waits on CDs (save ranger) how much initiative would be recovered? Think about it. While it is true initiative is a crutch the replenish rate doesn’t leave you without it for very long. 1.33 seconds per point untraited not even factoring in steal and stealth.
Also technically when you got there if you switched to SB in the process which has the same catch up skills you could be doing DPS for the whole second half and the HS to them in the last stretch should do damage also. Since thief loses no mobility going over to Shortbow the math is the same 6 init for 900 range. Its the only class that has that much mobility on a ranged set and isn’t locked into melee to get it.
Sorry my post is valid.
To sum this up the recharge rate on initiative isn’t slow enough to use it as a valid reason for the nerf and thief is the only set that can do that much mobility not only not being locked into melee but also having a ranged weapon with the same mobility as a melee set.
See shortbow’s Infiltrator Arrow for more info.
what i’m saying is….an Elementalist has a plethora of combos with weapon skills it can still pull off AFTER using its mobility skills to catch up
a thief has to blow all their initiative…..and sometimes this could be even before a fight begins….blowing all ur inititive at the beginning of a fight is not what you want to do as a thief….you want to go in with full initiative….if you get into a situation where you have a thief using initiative to catch up to you rather than damage you…you’ve already won that fight
yes you eles have to wait 20s for mobility cd’s to come back up…but thieves have to wait for mobility AND damage, just not as long….i’d say your high cd’s for mobility is a fair trade for still being able to put out quite a bit of damage afterwards…otherwise you guys would be OP
so with your and my thoughts on the IDEAL situation for a thief….would be to have enough initiative to use CnD upon reaching its target, to go into stealth and regen a bit of that initiative back up…that is 6 initiative, taken away from the base 12….so you have 6 initiative for mobility uses…that is roughly 2 heartseekers + shadowstep…by the time regen kicks in you get another heartseeker….
so 3 heartseekers (450×3) + shadowstep (900) = 2250 units + able to cast CnD
in the situations your describing….
if a thief and ele are one on one and they both blow all their mobility skills like your listing…..an ele will still have tons of combos to pull off on the thief, while the thief will sit there trying to auto attack….who do you think is going to win?
EDIT: you even said it best in the other thread: “Only sloppy thief blows their entire bar with nothing left and no stealth.”….yet in this math to make your argument, you have them blowing all their initiative
(edited by Jordo.5913)

i believe they stated they want thieves to be slippery and mobile, but also have some of the best burst damage out there
Hi there….so I believe i’m going to delve into the D/D backstab thief build after leveling as condition for most of the game….and was wondering if someone could shed some light on the rotation that one uses to maximize the initiative to CnD ratio?
I heard that when it was nerfed up to 4s…that it threw off the rotation and really hurt thieves….so
What are your guys’ usual rotation?
I used to think warriors are the biggest crybabies around.
I was wrong.

rox’ quiver, rox’ bow, braham’s mace, braham’s shield
anyway….back on topic…this seems likely for me…
Rox’s Bow is a shortbow yes?
So with the patch coming…I am hearing that there are 4 new weapon skins also dropping on the same day on the gem store.
“Bust out your gem cards and grab your gold, because the Black Lion Trading Company has some exciting new goodies to sell you! Whether you’re looking to add to your plush backpack collection, or just want to channel your inner-mole with the Sonic Tunneling Toy you’ll never want to leave town to use any of the four new weapon skins that will be available for a limited time. Yes, you can finally wear Rox’s quiver. Rangers rejoice!” – GW2Guru
From that, it makes me think we are getting:
New Plush Backpack
Sonic Tunneling Toy
Rox’s Quiver (pic in the attachments)
3 more Weapon Skins
any word on what they are?
So I want like 3 Seraph weapons…for my alts….which is 64k karma x3
anyone out there know the most efficient meta event to farm, or best zone for karma farming?
is definitely a step in the right direction for e-sports and i am happy with the addition of these…
….but ultimately class balance will decide the future of this game as an e-sport
im sure they will….the only problem though is what will be in the presents?
mini pets aren’t as popular as they were in gw1
i suppose they could do polymock figurines if they get polymock up and going by then
All damage is negated by using a mechanic in the game called dodge…so why do you need toughness and vitality if you can dodge everything?
if a person cannot dodge attacks…either it be latency or skill….then berserker gear < all other gear
if a person can dodge attack….then berserker gear > all other gear
i was in your shoes once…it was level the ranger, which i like way more than melee….or level the warrior…a sure fire dungeon runner
luckily, i kept leveling, and still to this day i don’t regret leveling my ranger….if i choose a class to just go out and explore tyria, i go on my ranger 9 times out of 10
something about the class just draws me to it….i also have faith that anet will fix the class….and when they do, i have already leveled the class up
dervish in nightfall in gw1 was out of the gate, very sloppy and poorly designed, it was basically used as a runner(for its utility) and that was it….it got a rework and became the most played class of the game after that……so i have faith they can make it work
“I swung a sword, I swung a sword again Hey! I swung it again, that’s great”
Do you remember the teaser for GW2 before it’s release? Where Colin Johanson said the above line?, well, isn’t that exactly what we’re doing in the current model?
With all the class imbalances going the class sections are filled with weapon/ability comparison threads which all basically say that a lot of weapons have 1 ability that deals a lot of damage, the others are utility and actually deal less damage than the auto attack. Wait what? Did I say auto attack? Yes I did, number one ability on your bar does the exact same thing as all the other MMO’s Colin Johanson was seemingly trying to ridicule with his quoted sentence. GW2 has the very same thing, I don’t get it why.
Why is there a auto attack and why does it deal more damage than most special moves you can pull off?
I’ll give you my main class as an example, Ranger.
GS: Number two is the main damage dealer, whilst it’s on CD it’s better to auto attack until it’s back off cooldown than it is to use Swoop or Hilt Bash. (Yes I know they’re utility abilities, still doesn’t get us away from Colin’s quote.)
Shortbow: Auto attacks deal more damage than any of the other four abilities, I find myself on some bosses able to go AFK while my Ranger is auto attacking the boss. Auto attack even continues if the mob runs out of range and back into range!
There’s even an option in the option menu to turn the auto attack off so instead you can feel useful slamming your face on the number one key over and over.
Bottom line is, why did one of the main Arenanet dev’s come out with such a silly statement and not actually follow up on it? Reminds me of politicians that tell us about all the wonderful things they will do for us if we vote for them, well we bought your game Colin, why aren’t you keeping your word?
i think your thinking of it the wrong way…..the way i took it was:
for instance…in WoW, your skills basically do the same thing…swing your weapon in melee range(chop right)….hit another skill…swing your sword in a different animation(chop left)….hit another skill(overhead chop)….hit another skill(spin chop)
in this game its…..for instance on the greatsword…..autoattack is your chops, skill 2 is chopping on steroids, skill 3 is a mobile whirlwind, skill 4 is a throwing greatsword, skill 5 is a dash uppercut
so each skill does something different other than doing the same thing, just in a different direction
another thing is queensdale is the least centaur raided zone, its an actual human krytan zone….though the east side of kessex hills is still nice….the west side had its beauty destroyed by centaurs….and genderran fields is just awful with the amount of centaur camps desecrating the land
i think thats why i prefer queensdale to the others
Which one do you find more fun and entertaining?
I think one of the things that would make boss battles epic would be Touhou-style aoes
If you are unfamiliar with Touhou, see attached:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nb5Ohbt1SgObviously not as insane, but something similar adapted to the available mechanics would be epic IMO.
There should be several different aoe’s with unique patterns, used in no particular order but with distinguishable charge ups.
Jormag phase 1 has this to some degree, but because of the “safe spot” most people dont notice.
Story Mode, Arah, Boss 2 has this….though it is not coming from all sides like a true touhou game
New JP’s will be made in the future.
I don’t like completion achievements in mmo game. I implies that you’re finished and there’s nothing more to discover. If Anet wants a living and evolving world, these achievement shouldn’t exist.
mmmmmm…..
if you don’t have achievements…you have nothing more to work for, so you have nothing else to do
just make a new title for future JP’s….the current 44 could be “Hoppy”….after they add 10 or so more, make one called “Frogger”…..
once we hit 100 you get “Jumping Grandmaster Supreme”
so it sounds like they lived in the area that “bubbles” is now wrecking….so maybe we end up helping the Quaggan and Largos in a future expansion?
