To me, skill on the battlefield is more important than being a forum warrior, which is why I will follow Estaily. Regardless of the nature of this drama, the posted screenshot speaks volumes to me since a picture is worth a thousand words, as they say.

I rather like the whole Living Story concept, though some aspects (like the current Invasions requiring a party to avoid overflow) may not be the best for loner gamers like me. Regardless of play style, if there is something more to be explored in Tyria, I am all for it. I (and likely many others) would jump at the chance to see what is behind the Tengu wall, for example, whether this is done through the Living Story or some other means.

I have yet to see mention of a condition mesmer. I know that build exists (using the perplexity runes) because I encountered one recently. He put more conds on me than I could take off (over time) and was very tanky. I main eng and so was using 409 and Elixir C but that wasn’t enough. I’ve found I have less trouble/last longer vs thieves/non cond warrior/mesmer than most of the current WvW cond builds.
However, as a nod to OP, I will note that a cond necro in my guild has a very high cond damage/duration. In a friendly duel (not using 409), he literally dropped me with conds (higher dmg per tick and longer ticks) in seconds.

Hope you also had fun watching a noob mesmer, Sov. :P I must say, it was quite satisfying participating in a number of ninja attempts though.

Wyld must be special then, cause I never get that treatment. :P

@JudgeD: Yep, I’ve seen that Branded Devourer. Fought it once, with one or two others, basically circle strafing the whole fight shooting it to death. And all I mentioned about Champion Ravagers is that the Risen Vigil Tactician (asura variant) seems to be equivalent to that. Like you, I hope to never see an actual Champion Risen Ravager. Regular ones and veterans are already a pain.

Glad I’m not the only one then. And yes, kiting with a staff ele is a viable way to kill
the Giant Devourer.
Does anyone ever try the ogre Chief in the SE corner of Fields of Ruin? I’ve only done it twice, once solo on eng and once on ele (called for help in mapchat). He seems to up quite often in the times I’ve been in the area (for the ogre vineyard).

What about the Giant Devourer that spawns north of Ebonhawke in the Fields of Ruin? I rarely ever see ppl at that one. Recently tried to solo it on my ele (and ended up with two other ppl at the end) though it took near 10 min of kiting (got a nice drop though).
Also, OP mentions Champ Ravagers. I sincerely hope I never encounter one cause just one Vet (at Shelter) can ruin my day.

Fun fights in EB tonight with DB and Mag. I noticed that DB’s zerg vine still produces copious grapes of wrath. :P This was particularly evident at OL keep and OW tower.

I attempted to take out the cauldrons by myself the other day and was interrupted by Risen. Kudos to Iconik for succeeding where I failed. I had stated to guildies that I preferred to run the Gates of Arah in its entirety and was pleasantly surprised when that objective was achieved earlier (between 11AM and 12 noon EDT). Iconik deserves a medal IMHO.

You’re confusing champion events with events that spawn champions based on scaling.

Personally, I’m confused by this thread in general. Why would you ever think that completing an event is bannable? I want to figure out what event you’re talking about and go complete it all the time now just to teach those farmers a lesson lol.

No, I mean the Giant Devourer and possibly the ogre chieftain in the SE corner of the map. Every time I’ve been in the area, it seems that event is always up. There’s also
some sort of champ fish in the lake in the NW part of the zone. My question was, why Orr or Frostgorge? In any case, interrupting a farm to complete a DE chain is not a bannable offense to my my mind.

Ironically, the champs in places like Fields of Ruin are not being farmed (at least on TC). The other day, I killed the Giant Devourer north of Ebonhawke with two other ppl. This in the course of map completion on my ele, I also found another champ in the north end of the lake in the NW part of the map.
Also, the end of quite a few DE chains have champ bosses, like the ogre chieftain in
Blazeridge.

For leveling my eng, I used primarily rifle. As for traits, I didn’t really understand those till well after level 80, though now I’m tending toward bunker/control build. Bomb Kit can come in handy as well as Elixir Gun however.

If I understand correctly, the OP is saying, why use eng in a zerg, because whatever eng does, another class can do better? The best answer I can give according to my experience, is that we can play support but still be tanky if we need to get close in. I run FT (and PVT gear) in zerg fights and tend to survive even those my team wipes on.
FT#2 provides aoe dmg, FT#3 is aoe CC, FT#4 is the the longest fire field in game at present (10 sec), and FT#5 is aoe blind. Yes, retal can be a problem, but I rarely die from it. Use of Elixir Gun and Toolkit gives a aoe retal (which guardian does better and longer), vulnerability, block for trolling, and the mighty Prybar (confusion). Our elite
Supply Crate is essentially a 2 sec stun on a 3 min CD, its true, but have enough engies time their drops, and you’ve got a zerg stunlock. It would be interesting to see what 10 engies in a zerg could do.

Fun fighting TFV in DB BL earlier. Had fun running with Awe and INVC cmmdrs (who shall remain nameless :P).

Good fights with HL tonight at south camp and Vale in SoR BL. Kudos to the HL mesmer who just wouldn’t go down (except to our resident OP necro :P).

Achievement points are like M&Ms. Except they don’t melt in my mouth or my hands. And they don’t pop out of a little bag. Not very chocolaty either. Or colorful. Ok, not like M&Ms at all.

Per my post history I’ve been on SOR since day 1 so no BG fanboy here, haha. However, these sort of QQ posts are annoyin!

How are they to know how many of you are in there? Did you expect the BG commander to turn around once they realized it was a small man? Besides they also have no idea if you have a reinforcement train coming from another map to help out as well.

I’m sorry if my comment sounded that way, but I seriously though that sort of “precautionary measure” was interesting, for lack of a better word. We had no backup since at that time of day, TC’s WvW efforts are usually focused on TC BL or EB. We also assumed that the BG would show up when one BG got inside as we were at inner gate. It was just an idea that one guy had. Being originally from the old T8, I am not familiar with all the tricks and tactics that the old hands on BG or JQ know. I am not complaining, merely observing.

Sounds like quite an experience, Silent. I’ve had a number of memorable times in the past 6 months of WvW myself.
Just the other day, for example, I was heading along the road toward the NE sentry in BG BL. I saw figures materialize ahead and then saw it was a BG group of about 20ish. I turned and ran for TC controlled Hills keep. I used every trick I had, but engies simply don’t have the CC removal to run well. So, I was run down at the base of the incline, where the approach to Hills north gate is. Another TC in the area was also run down. Then the BG zerg went back north for some reason. Rather amusing in hindsight, as it seemed they came south just to run down two ppl. :P
Another time (and another matchup), I encountered another engie near Lake tower and proceeded to have a 5 min duel. At the end, a TC mes came along and started to fight the engie. Not wishing to have a 2v1, I went inside the tower and proceeded to watch the mes lose, then the engie left the area.
Then there’s the time I ran across the FA NERF guild havoc group of engies. That did not end too well.
Anyway, I digress, and I’m sure there’s others with better stories. :P

I went with Kiel cause I liked how they did her personality. The fractal and WP cost reduction were not really considerations for me.

Yeah, I would have to agree that engies are good underwater. Fighting krait with an elixir gun seems much more fun than on land with flamethrower. In WvW, combat is a bit different, but still decent.

Akamon, were you the CDS guy we kept running across? Some good fights regardless.

Amidst all the deliberations on here, let me tell you all a little story….

As I passed along the road northwest of Blackgate Borderland Hills keep, I chanced to espy forms in red passing swiftly in my direction. I realized it was the dread zerg of Blackgate and attempted to hasten to the keep. Alas, I failed in endeavors of swiftness and so came to the base of the hill and thereupon expired in great lamentations and so respawned.
Upon a filing of the report with the Tarnished Coast Safety Administration, I was informed that another traveler met the same end in the vicinity, and it was further reported that the same dread zerg of Blackgate reversed their unstoppable course to a supply camp north of the keep. I was given a copy of a Travel Advisory that read as follows:
“Notice is given that the lands of dread Blackgate are filled with zergs and roamers. Therefore, all travelers of Tarnished Coast advised to proceed with extreme caution when anywhere in the vicinity of said locale.”

(To the 20 or so BG that ran me down NE of hills: I nearly jumped when I saw you, but, of course, it was too late to do anything.)

Easier to farm Orr than keep our BL blue, Oolune. :P There’s also the coverage issue….

So, is the Champ Giant the latest farming spot in Orr? I’ve not encountered that on my server, and I run the Gates of Arah 3-5 times a week. I have noticed I always get at least one rare there and up to four at times, along with putrid essences, etc. I just run the whole chain, and getting 35-40 moldy bags is enough to keep me happy. (I tend to have low expectations on loot drops.)
Most of my PvE time is spent in CS just running around though. I don’t farm any particular event, even the “nerfed” ones like Jofast, etc. I don’t run world bosses like I used to, as well, because the drops are always greens and blues. I can get those in WvW with a bit more risk.

More hi jinx from NERF. Gotta love it. To my mind the only thing scarier than running across 2 thieves is a pack of engies. I believe I ran into you guys during some of the FA/TC matchups. Puts my engie to shame too. And, for the record, Chaba, I’m a heavy mouse user.

I’ll throw in my 2 cents…

I main engie and dont have much trouble with thieves in general. At the first Backstab (which may crit for 5-6k), I drop my Crate and follow up with rifle. If they persist, Gear Shield and Crowbar come out. Usually they run off at that point. I tend to run a “tanky” PVT build though so YMMV.
Ironically, it’s necros and guardians I tend to have the most trouble with.

I define the fun in this matchup being able to slip past all the BG roamers/havoc they seems to have and take out caravans/sentries, which I was able to do on more than one occasion. (Or trolling, but that another story.) I’m not paying much attention to all the drama.

Straegen, I encountered a speed warrior from BG like you describe the other day. Spent 10 min chasing him while skirmishing, and in the end he still got away. The Rocket Boots+Net Shot combo was little help as he seemed to block every one I did.

You get one of the actual fight, Sov? This one was taken during the second one, I think.

Good fights with BG and SoR in SoR BL tonight. Especially the BG warrior who just wouldn’t die and the SoR mes. Also, kudos to RISE for the GvG. It was fun watching regardless of the outcome.

Situational awareness is always good to have in WvW, regardless of spec or class.

Maybe in a way, Scoot. This is T1 after all. Jayne, I’ve had some good duels in this matchup. Just gotta be in the right place at the right time is all. I even had a friendly conversation with an SoR thief near Lake tower in BG BL a few days ago. Have faith, sister.

Interestingly enough, I just woke from a dream in which I told a guildie, “BG roamers are everywhere…” Also, Pox, I’ve found it is possible to take out a yak or sentry, but try to solo a camp, and anywhere from 2-6 BG will show up, it seems.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Oh…wait, troll tag…..

So, how did SoR enjoy the lagfest in BG Garrison earlier? It got so bad we could only run around auto-attacking and hoping SoR would eventually cap (which had not happened when we left an hour and a half later). :P

Yeah, WvW knows their stuff. The PPT/score is quite telling as well. Hard to believe the “official” RP server is now able to run with the big dogs, BG, SoR, and JQ. Only 30k difference between TC and JQ last match.

Amid all the somber reality of the BG and SoR zergs, here’s something for my TC brethern. I should note there were only 8 of us who held out inside lord’s room.
