stop asking to nerf mesmers. they are fine as they are now. I have won my fair share of duels against them on my necros so no they are not OP.
But we probably want to nerf PU 100% stealth increase because that is just not fun.
Then Necros must be OP, plz nerf Necros. ;p
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Was in a map where we beat him last night, it just takes longer, we got by with a minute left to go.
I am sure though, given more time, it won’t be an issue.
They should however, and this is just me being selfish, give us better rewards.
I got a spoon, and maybe 3 rare items, and a lot of junk.
Not much for 30-60 mins of prep.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I hope we have another balance patch coming soon cause I don’t think people will put up with 6 months of this kitten.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Nah unranked is fine. It’s ranked that needs to change. There should be a solo/duo queue and a separate full premade queue with the full premade queue awarding more rewards for added incentive.
Not having to play with pugs should be reward and incentive enough.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
again crybabies yelling for mesmer nerfs…….you know what? mesmer was nerfed twice already while engie guard and ele mainly are still on top food chain
It’s the same thing that happened with Rangers about a year or so ago.
Rangers finally got buffed after being complete trash for the entire game’s life, and people couldn’t handle it. “Oh my god, I have to actually fight rangers now? I can’t just facesmash my keys on them? What are these arrows? My opponent does damage?? I don’t want to have to learn to play! Just nerf it instead!”
This is the exact same thing happening to mesmer right now. Mesmer has never been apart of the meta, because as a class it previously brought nothing to the table that other classes didn’t do better, mostly thief.
Now mesmer finally has a place in this game as a good class and people can’t handle it. They lose their minds because they have to adapt and maybe find a new way to play the game that doesn’t involve swinging their greatsword in circles at clones.
I just hope Anet has some rational thought when it comes to balancing classes in upcoming fixes. Mesmer does not deserve to be trash anymore, it’s been there for almost three years.
Now pvp matches look pretty obvious , team with more mesmers win.
This has to be a joke right? Lol. This can’t be serious.
The problem is not that Anet buffed these classes. It’s how they buffed them. Being interrupted and burst down by something you don’t see and can’t react to is pretty effin broken and needs to be fixed. As for rangers a year ago, I didn’t even want them on my team cause all the did was pew pew from max range while we were taking all the heat on point. Anet needs to put more thought into what is a fun and engaging fighting experience.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
words….3.focused to much on pvp and wvw not pve. …… more words…….10. taking away the parts of the game that most people enjoy and trying to force us all to pvp or wvw which isn’t what a lot of us play for. ……….more words…
For real? You expect anybody to take you seriously after writing that? PvP and WvW players would cream their pants if they got half the attention PvE got in the past 3 years.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Pretty sure it’s not allowed to post screenshots like this, it’s considered as attacking another player and that’s against the rules, so you might want to take it down.
Well, if Anet gave us a proper way of reporting these @holes in game we wouldn’t have to.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I’ve been playing Marauder (old zerk stats) I find it much better than celestial for my build. The extra vitality really helps vs conditions.
Crusader seems to be working g quite well on my warrior hammer build. With the signet trait in arms I can get pretty decent crit chance without precision stats. I can build quite tanky and still have good dps.
lolwat? marauder has the same vitality boost as celestial
It’s one of those cases where my brain thinks faster than I can type. There is a complete sentence missing there. It should say “I get way better dps than celestial. The extra vitality compared to zerker really helps vs conditions.”

He who holds the hammer wins. The question is, should anybody be voting for this abomination of a map?
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I really like this idea. I often have an idea for a build but can’t find an amulet with the right stats. This would allow for greater diversity.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
why do you guys still play warrior?
if you want condi just go another class, it will be 10x easier with 10x resultCause we play the class we like and not FOTM.
If getting reckt while putting way more effort is what you like, then go ahead.
Anet will end up nerfing the OP FOTM builds. In the mean time I’m perfecting my skills and when they are done balancing everything out I will be wrecking all the FOTM hoppers cause they haven’t learned how to play and only rely the OPness to carry them.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I’m loving it. Warrior has a much more active play style. No skills are left unused.

My celestial/sinister/rampager 0-6-6-0-6 hybrid build got a pretty significant boost. Had to make a few modifications. Signet mastery allows me to get 100% crit chance on sword with just SoR and SoM. I put a a sigil of frailty on one my swords for some extra vulnerability. I can easily apply and maintain 9 satcks while in sword. Second sword has sigil of torment and the LB has the typical geo/doom setup.
Base not it combat stats. 2.2k power, 865 condi damage, 43% crit chance, 175% crit damage, 2.8k armor and 23k health.
In combat I get about 2.2k to 2.4k.power (I loss SoM but gain might stacks)
Condition Damage plays between 1000 and 1200.
100%crit on sword.

Definitely zerker, since condi gear will do nothing for your axe and sword’s a viable zerk weapon through sword 3 and 4.
Consider taking Great Fortitude instead of Body Blow for that build since you really only have one stun (plus any utilities), so you may as well get the vitality.
As an alternative to strength, given your choice of weapons, you could replace it with Arms – Signet Mastery, Blademster, and Furious.
Or, hey, if you’re taking Blademaster, you could always go Axe+Sw/Sw+Sh and take Dual wielding. Use your Axe+Sw to do most of your damage, then use your sword shield for a quick burst if you need it or to escape to some place warm and cozy or just have out of combat mobility.
Pack a bunch of signets on there and use them (even hit Healing Signet before walking into a fight), and you’ll have really high crit chance from the Signet Mastery buff (you could easily maintain a +500 precision bonus).
As mentioned, you’ll be able to get away with a lot in casual pve, so go with what seems the most fun.
SoR and SoM area reall the only ones you need to maintain a decent crit chance. If you have some precision in you build to begin with you should have no problem getting 80% (100% on sword if you trait blademaster) and the shield trait also works for the Sword 5 which gives you another source of reflects and might.

Personally, I think you should only need to confirm for exotic or higher. When did someone ever get heart broken for salvaging a rare?
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
With the previous changes to stability and now the broken condi spam, melee builds = insta death in T1 zerg fights. Looks like the new meta is running around range spamming AoE.
Roaming is still fun though, I haven’t been 2 shot yet.

The UI doesn’t know which enemy you will attack next, so there’s no way for it to show it. If the game could calculate which enemy you would decide to attack, that would be really impressive and creepy.
I just thought that if you had a bleeding foe targeted that it would show.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Been WvW roaming with this tonight, works quite well for me.

Cele Armor with Hoelbrak
dual Rampager sword / Rampager bow
frailty/torment on swords and doom/geo on bow

Working on some pretty insane PvE builds.
Don’t know what I want to play for PvP anymore.

hi hi julie.
hmmm i think it is not showing, because it only deals +20% crit against bleeding foes?
was your foes bleeding?i think our gui is not smart enough to show this.
It was definitely bleeding. I’m going to go smack some dummies in the myst for a while and see if it’s just UI thing.
EDIT: Just finished testing this in the mist. 200 AAs with and 200 AAs without. It’s just a UI thing. The trait does give +20% crit chance.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

I’m not seeing the %20 crit chance vs bleed foes in my hero screen. Anyone test this yet to see if it is just a display bug?
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Please, Mr/Mrs Moderator, I know that bumping is frowned upon but I believe this is an exceptional case. I’m only giving an opportunity for those who haven’t seen it yet to offer their condolences and pay their respects.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

STOP USING ZERKS and make something fun for once. God kitten meta games. Every single one of them are the same in every game
Damage > everything
Meta = I don’t want to play this game. How do I make it ungodly easy??
We actually have way fewer build possibilities now than we did before. Someone did the math somewhere and the difference is huge.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Well, at least we can expect better balancing from now on.

Yes but it would be nice to see what the guest community members have to say.

Why Anet wouldn’t make these available for replay is beyond me. If we are lucky someone will post some youtube vids within the next few days. Anet, you should really work on this. Many of us have lives that don’t fit your schedule.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Just like the title says. anyone know where one can watch these? Like most people, I work during the day so I keep missing them.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I read the dev tracker pertaining to this thread but not every post in this thread. So I read that blog post and found it confusing. Probably because I haven’t been reading forums consistently.
I already pre-purchased the expansion. You do have to purchase the expansion to get the expansion content, don’t you?
I understand the part about the character slot. I know I will get one because I pre-purchased the game at launch. The rest of that blog post doesn’t apply to anything about those of us who bought the game when it first came out…correct?
Reading that blog post is like walking into a room in the middle of a conversation. You stand there wandering what the heck people are talking about.
If you bought and activated the game prior to the announcement of HoT (Jan, 2015) you get an extra character slot if you pre-purchased.
The rest applies to anyone who bought the game after that date in anticipation for HoT thinking that they would need if for the xpac just to find out that the xpac comes with it.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
So if we don’t pre purchase , we don’t get the character slot?
That’s what it looks like at the moment but things can still change.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
there should be an incentive to pre-purchase and that is fine.
Incentive: stop encouraging people to throw their money at castles in the air. It’s not healthy. Tell us what to expect and when to expect it, and while we’re waiting, let us know if something changes. And the free slot should go to everyone who pays for the expansion, not just the blindly faithful.
I’m not encouraging anyone, I’m waiting to find out more myself before committing but if Anet wants us to pre-purchase they should throw something in to sweeten the deal since it is a gamble. Like I said, there is still time to learn more make an informed decision before it launches and still qualify for the extra slot.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I don’t post on the forums very often…but I feel like I should throw my voice into the mix here.
You realize, all they did to fix this debacle, was to offer a temporary extra character slot? You get it if you pre-purchase the game, you don’t get it if you wait for the expansion to come out and then buy it. So…if I want to wait to see everything the game has to offer, judge it for myself and then buy it…I won’t get the extra character slot.
After the expansion releases…it’s the SAME EXACT THING…why are we giving praise to Anet again? Granted, they actually did communicate and address the community, but that…in itself…it not enough to garner the type of praise people are giving them. :/
I find the 5 months of revenue which Anet is given back to anyone who was mislead by the FAQ praise worthy. Even though I am not affected by it in the slightest I think that is a huge.
As for the extra character slot being available to pre-purchase only, there should be an incentive to pre-purchase and that is fine. There is still plenty of time before release to find out more and determine if it is worth it or not.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
And just as everyone who didn’t blow their tops on first knee-jerk knew would happen, ArenaNet has put it right.
Did you folks seriously figure they wouldn’t? Come on. You know better than that.
Thanks Gaile, for weathering that particular poopnado, and thanks ArenaNet for doing the sensible thing. I’d already preordered Ultimate on my own, but I will admit I feel better about the purchase with this announcement and clarification in place. Hopefully lessons have been learned all around from this debacle.
Whatever else people say about this company, it’s been my experience that ArenaNet is one of the best in the business at learning from their errors, and really? You can’t expect more than that from anyone.
What would have happened if nobody had blown their tops? Nothing. How can a company know there is a problem if nobody voices their concern? The reason they did something about it is because we made a bunch of noise and made them aware there was a problem. However, the fact that they acknowledged that problem and did something to fix it speaks volumes about their integrity.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
While this resolution isn’t ideal for me personally I’d like to say props to Anet for stepping up to the plate and acknowledging their mistake and refunding people who bought the game since January due to poor advertising. I’d goes a long way in restoring my faith in the company as a whole.
I’m still on the fence as to whether the expac is worth $50 (character slot included) but that is just my inner scrooge speaking. At least players who have been support the game for 3 years are getting some recognition for their loyalty.
Thank you for this.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I’m pretty sure they knew exactly what they were doing but saw gamers for exactly what they are, a bunch of hot air supported by a jelly spine. There is only a small percentage of gamers out there who say “I won’t buy this at this price” and actually stick to it. They know this and are taking advantage.
Well, those gamers are buying virtual rocks for $10 a piece. Can you really blame Anet for trying?

I can not believe someone saying they are not going to get 50$ of entertainment out of a MMORPG, really? If that’s the case then MMORPG is just not the game type for you. Also 50$ is half day of work at minimal wager, the only ones that can not afford it are students.
The thing is we can get another $50 worth of entertainment out of the base game and not spend a single dime. To spend $50 on new content there should at least be $50 worth of new content and from what we have been shown so far there isn’t.

That is if you care about playing season 3 and 4, some of us having even bothered to play season 1 and 2. You can always farm a little gold a buy them in game for zero real life money.

And you’re assuming that ANet doesn’t value the price of HoT at $50.
It doesn’t matter what Anet values the price of HoT at. It’s what the the consumer base values HoT at that matters. If they don’t feel it’s worth the price they aren’t buying it and Anet isn’t making any money.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Let’s put this back on the first page where it belongs.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
This is a comparison of what was available at launch of expansions, not quality of life updates or living world, those have nothing to do with the expansion.
That’s what I’m saying, do a full comparison. What we got for free over the last 3 years, what we got at release, release Prophecies vs release Guild Wars 2 to have a complete list of things.
When I bought the game I wasn’t buying all the extra stuff that came during the following 3 years. I was buying what was available for me in that box the day I opened it. The fact that we got more stuff, which was paid for the gemstore earnings, is irrelevant. Possible future content shouldn’t be factored into the price of xpac.

In the future I hope they will consider releasing all of the information about what is contained in the game before doing pre-orders. Some players will have to pay $60(x-pac+character slot). That’s the same price as the base game. The xpac fits into a small corner of the map. They don’t share the same worth to me.
I with the current exchange rate we end up paying close to $75 for HoT and expac in Canada. It would have to deliver content equivalent at least 50% of the original game before I would even consider opening my wallet. From what we have been shown, it is nowhere near that size.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
You may think it’s a problem but in business taking quick action is often more problematic than taking some time to consider the best alternatives.
Sure, but that requires said business to -actually- consider alternatives.
ANet…has a shoddy track record when it comes to having a finger on the pulse of the community. And it’s more than just “the community has so many differing voices”.
Commander Tags, the Traits and SAB threads, all the stuff that caused the O’brien post and a “promise” of better communication.
There are distinct areas where ANet…for lack of a better way to put it…just does not pay even slight attention to what’s going on around them when it comes to their community. I don’t know if it’s their communication policy, or that they exist in some weird echo chamber, or what.
But the big thing going on right now? With HoT? This strikes me as yet another community bomb that could have been disarmed well in advance and ANet simply chose not to.
There are two-ish issues here.
Snipped this part because I generally agree with the assessment.
It’s not just a communication problem between Anet and the community. The have the same communication problems internally. Have you ever read Anet reviews on Glassdoor.com. They have to be taken with a grain of salt but it is a reoccurring comment.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The devs, forum staff, customer support staff and all the other good people working at Anet don;t deserve this. The kittenheads that came up with this pricing scheme and those responsible for the shady business practices deserve every bit of it.
